Just wanted to drop a note to thank all the LIWs for being such a fabulously awesome, supportive, sweet, caring group. There are many parts of PS that I enjoy, but this area is my favourite because you ladies are always so quick to take someone''s story to heart and do your best to be encouraging and honest. I just love it! Thank you for being fabulous!

You''re fabulous too Gwendolyn

I second *bee! I''m not a LIW (just share my experience), but the women on this board are very intelligent, supportive and genuine. Especially you, Gwendolyn. You always find a way to be positive and supportive to the girls on the board and from what we''ve read, it sounds like you are real source of support for your friends in real life. Even while you''re going through a rough time yourself--and that takes real strength. I hope you have a wonderful holiday, Gwen!

I second this!! Everyone on here is positivly devine in every way!! I feel lucky to be part of such a delightful site filled with lovely ladies like you!! ::cheers::

Thanks, chicas! I think what I love so much about this corner of PS is that we''re a fairly small group--the LIWs and the ladies who aren''t still LIWs but who still post in here (like the lovely NEL)--and I feel like because of that, I''ve gotten to know you all better. I think this is a great community, because everyone is so caring and understanding, but also honest and able to offer perspectives that may be difficult for people to get from the folks they know in real life. And I just think that''s fab!

Hiya, Zoe! Does your username have anything to do with The West Wing? I LOVE that show!!

Life in the UK has been difficult. School has been stressful, and sometimes my boyfriend has helped with that, and other times he''s contributed to it. Many of the other grad students are really friendly and nice, which helps, but a lot of us don''t like it so far. Hopefully it''s just temporary and I''ll start to like it more next term, now that I know my way around and have some idea of what to expect about schoolwork and stuff. So I feel ready!! I think.

I agree, Gwendolyn--we love you, too! I''m not a LIW anymore, but when I was these ladies helped me through a few rough times.

Thanks, Gwendolyn! I love it here, too. Since finding this board a month or so ago I feel a lot better about some of the planning/decisions BF and I have made about our engagement/ring for me. I''ve been making some crazy for myself since this summer, wondering about planning a wedding, wondering how it''s going to ''work'' with timing, and just feeling anxious and excited and not really having anyone to talk to in the same position. Recently, we discussed just getting me the w-ring to wear as my e-ring since we are both students and trying to save up for a potential cross-country move when we apply for jobs, and get the ring I really want at a later time (not that I even want something super flashy, but $4,000 is a lot of money for us). I think, without the support of the ladies here, I may have felt cheated out of a ''real'' e-ring. Now I know that upgrades and things for anniversaries, etc. are not weird, and also that even those of us who just love

these stunning rocks are really more focused on our FFs and the happiness we have with them. Plus, with PS I''ve found some great sites for amazing w-rings and BF has them bookmarked!

Sorry long post, am procrastinating on my graduate assistantship work... Chicago Style bibliography for one of my professor''s textbooks. Only 8 pages of citations to go...

Love your new avatar, btw. I think we would be friends IRL.

Hehehe, I love the fact that you shared all that while you were procrastinating your grad work! I think you''re right, that we would be friends in real life.

Out of curiousity (and don''t answer if it makes you tear your hair out and groan in frustration), what is a Chicago Style biblio? I just finished one of three papers for my master''s program and I am terrrrrible with citations and bibliographies and stuff, so I am curious about how much I don''t know about it all.

Hi Gwendolyn! Chicago Style is just another one of those onerous ways of citing (like MLA--Modern Language Association--and APA--American Psychological Association), every field has its own style that they prefer. My professor used Chicago/Turabian for all her footnotes, so now I have to convert those footnotes into a bibliography. It''s kind of a huge headache that I''ve been avoiding, but I have to be done with it by the new year, so... guh.

You can read more about Chicago style here. The actual information is in a PDF. It''s a pretty easy style to use, but since I don''t always know if something was a book or a journal or a magazine, I have to guess based on the prof''s footnotes and yeah. It''s annoying.

My grad progam is weird, because it''s library science, and we don''t have a specific style just for us, so some professors will let us use whatever we want (my choice: MLA, since I was an English major) and others are steadfast that we use APA.

All right, long blather about nothing important. Back to work at the library!
