Your Latest Jewelry Purchases/Things You're Considering....

I enjoy memento mori items, so I have the Shallow Grave pendant on order from DMD Metal, albeit without the chain since I’ve never liked the tarnish hassle of silver. I’ve ordered from him before (custom piece, I don’t think he’s doing that currently) and had a great experience. He’s so nice and very detail oriented. I think I have 4-5 more pieces from him on my wishlist including the giza ring & cubist skull earrings. Eventually he’ll do my asscher ring reset once I make up my mind what I want because he does the best milgrain I’ve seen and I love milgrain!

I believe I have found a way to set this massive nearly 18mm diameter Danburite that Jeff White had cut for me back in 2016.

It was intended as an interchangeable pearl clasp with different types of pearls, single, double or even triple!

JW_Danburite_18.80ct_17.84x17.84mm.PNG

Originally, I wanted to use the push and pull Nittel design system. However, finding suitable vendors that can competently set the findings proved to be rather difficult, especially in UK.

Hence it is still unset. At one stage, I was contemplating setting it as a pendant rather than to sit in a box in the dark!

However, I had a lightbulb moment recently, for the stone to be bezel-set in a box clasp, and have multiple compatible tongues made at the same time so that they can take single, double and triple strands of pearls.

I would like to wear the clasp on one side and not in the middle, and have 2 single strands that I can convert right away, a WSS and a baroque Tahitian, as seen in this photo with the Danburite.

jwdanburitewithpearls.jpg

I could then add other strands at a later date, such as a nice blue strand of Tahitians, or a double strand of blue-lavender gem-quality CFWPs, or a larger double strand of white gem-quality CFWPs (I already have a double strand of white gem-quality CFWPs in 7-7.5mm with a nice clasp).

I believe the stone is big enough to be set in a box clasp, just a plain bezel setting to show off the cutting as it is full of sparkles!

I shall start making enquiries with my usual contact at the bench I use in China.

When it is time for the two strands to be restrung, I shall cut them loose and string them in the way I want them to be strung, take photos for my own reference, before handing them over the local jewellery store that would send them away for restringing.

Whoever they used did not have a clue how to string a strand with a basket clasp in a lariat style, and had to be restrung.

And they messed up my baroque Tahitian strand by changing the orientation of some of the pearls in the strand - the drop shaped ones were pointing in the wrong direction. I did not notice this until some time later and was upset when I found out, and had not worn the strand since. I am not going to let them make that mistake again!

DK :))

Thanks @junebug17 - I adore your collection. Caysie and I are working on our ideas at the moment, so I will hopefully be able to wear it in the new year.

Well, I also just got this beryl yesterday and might have it made into a pearl enhancer for some cream baroque akoyas?

Thanks @McLaren! I can't wait to see what you and Caysie come up with and I do hope you can ring in the New Year with your new ring on your finger!

Omg! I have always loved this ring and tried to buy it at one point! I ended up with a different stone. I am excited for you and look forward to seeing what you do with it.

I considered it as well! So beautiful.

I actually edited my post. Because I actually did try to buy it! Somebody beat me to it. That was in 2021. Then I got a bigger stone. And then it reappeared again! I’m very glad to see that somebody from PS bought it so that we can see it in action again.

It is a beautiful diamond. Probably one of the prettiest patterns. I am happy we get to see it more on PS.

Thank you all for sharing your excitement - it is such a pretty and charming stone, and Demelza was just wonderful to deal with.
We're looking at a classic pricescope style - one that I have coveted for years - tapered French cuts, but with a 6 prong head and caysie's incredible flare of blending vintage and modern styles.

Blue lavender pearls will be added to my bling wish list for 2024.

DK :))

Further to my musing of how to set a large round Danburite as pearl clasp for different strands of pearls, I am thinking about setting a Colorado Aquamarine cut by Jeff W as another pearl clasp, 6.01ct 12.33 x 9.37mm, here is a video of the stone, probably with some LGD surrounding it:

I already have a bigger Aquamarine in a ring and don't really need another, hence the idea of setting it into something else, like a pendant or a bangle bracelet.

However, a pearl clasp that can take different strands will be more wearable for me.

Inspiration came from this I saw in IG:

:shock:Please do, and show lots of pictures. I love an Aqua with pearls.

Just ordered this from JTV. I am on a quest to have the "rainbow" of gems and still need purple, red and yellow. This will of course be the purple, if it's nice (not too dark) in person. I thought the price looked pretty good which is important since I am back here in jewelry jail again.

ETA: It is all Autumn in New England's fault, due to this thread that she started:

Mahenge Purple Garnet 11.0x8.3mm Oval 3.85ct

Spent two hours at the jewellery store yeste
i finally bought these two pairs of earrings. the first pair is highly translucent icy jadeite with a luminous and slightly bluish glow. There is a pleasing adularescence. E7515794-7E5B-47E2-B168-1F8C1DBCF6C7.jpeg

The second pair is ruby & jadeite - my jellybeans.

IMG_2601.jpeg

Here is another piece they showed me yesterday. This bangle is substantial, about 45g. The ruby is over 8 ct and there’s about 4 ct of diamonds on white and rose gold.IMG_2602.jpeg

I am so over the moon with my new halo setting! Not gonna lie, she is not up to PS standards, but I have always craved an elongated look for my engagement ring. One of my jewelers had taken this setting as a trade and he hooked me up!

I *may* have asked for a tennis bracelet for Christmas & I *may* have an appointment late this week to view different carat weights….. :Up_to_something:

SOOOOOOOOO...........spill!

SOOOOOOOOO...........spill!

Trust you to remember!! :lol-2:

Well, I tried on quite a few. They were blindingly beautiful, but I wanted an everyday wear that would stack nicely without being overwhelming & had to remind myself of that whilst dribbling on an 8 ctw…..

So I chose a dazzling 2.5 ctw that was just enough to pop by itself, but also add shimmer to my other bracelets & most importantly my bangle. It needed to be shortened & should be with me on Tuesday. I didn’t take any pics at the jewellers because I was too giddy & simply forgot as I was trying to be lady like, but Mr T is currently away, so I shall take sneaky pics when I take delivery, as he’ll whisk it away as soon as he gets back! I know 2.5 is entry level, but it looked good with my others & although I have funds to build my collection, I’m quite an understated person & like things to be just “there” without punching you on the nose.

My favorite bracelet is 3ctw.

Before the earth was born, I bought a tennis bracelet in Palm Springs on vacay, wore it out...broke. Done. Went a different route, and had a (new) bangle made by Wink and it is (still) stunning. Had I not had an (eternity like) bangle made, I would have bought (tennis) WF bracelet 3cts. But I wanted a bangle. Like you, I find, it is elegant and substantial enough alone and as a stack.

@Ally T @canuk-gal I don't like to wear a tennis bracelet on its own as it would be barely there and insignificant on my chunky wrist!

The earth-mined diamond one, 5cttw, bezel-set stones about 2.5mm each, and the width of the bracelet is 3.77mm, and I wear it stacked with my MRB bangle and other bracelets (up to 4 nowadays :lol-2:).

TennisBracelet_01.jpg

I stack my costume one with 3mm stones for daily wear with a Nomination bracelet so that I don't have to baby them.

DK :))

nala, no apologies needed from my end- that halo is gorgeous! It sets off your fabulous diamond! I'd be over the moon, too.
