Zambian Emerald - Opinion requested

Hi PS-ers,

I'm considering getting a 5.20ct Zambian Emerald, which is approx 10.8 x 8.8 x 7.0. I've received these pictures from the vendor, and am quoted about 12.5k USD. I intend to negotiate a little bit downwards, but am not sure if this is a fair price to begin with. This was the gem I saw that came closest to the desired alpine green colour in muzo emeralds (but without the price tag).

I will have to obtain a proper GRS/AIGS cert myself as the vendor isn't based in an area with these labs (Jaipur). I recognise that this may come with a bit of a risk and intend to work out a fair price sharing arrangement so that this can be a win-win.

Would appreciate your opinion on the price and gem! Thanks very much in advance (:

According to SSEF, Panjshir emeralds can be very similar to Colombian emeralds, so those might be worth looking into.

You can find comparisons here - since on this site a 2ct and 7ct can be in this price range, I am not comfortable comparing a specific stone to the one you're considering.
Some have GRS minor oil reports.
The link is set to filter out stones over 15k. (You might have to change the currency from rupee to USD)

I am not typically a Zambian emerald fan, because I find they lack the "glow" of Muzo material. But this stone looks positively gorgeous. The added benefit of African emerald is, of course, the clarity. The only thing I would ask is, do you have any interest in going smaller and considering a Colombian stone? If not, then I can't imagine finding anything better than this gem in that price range.

P.S. If minor oil is important to you, be sure to have a return policy that gives you enough time to have the stone lab tested. But this gem looks so clean that I *think* you'll be ok.
