Good guess... close. It may be hard to tell because it is somewhat hard to capture in pictures, however the diamonds on the right side of the band in the first pic are set lower than the ones on the left side... some of the U shape metal areas are almost half the size of the ones on the opposite sideDate: 7/24/2009 5:19:09 PM

I'm going to take a guess and say that it has something to do with the 'U' shape of the prongs? It seems the second 'U' to the right is a little deeper? Sometimes it's hard to tell from a photo. Beautiful ring!
I think that was what NEL was saying but didnt specify all the way around the ring. I dont think I could live withDate: 7/24/2009 5:28:11 PM

One side of the shank looks thicker than the other side. More metal between the stones and finger. That would drive me bonkers.
I can''t live with it. I sent it back to the vendor two days ago. In their defense they did say that they would do their absolute best to correct the apparent shank inconsistencies... however I just found out today that "the ring is in surgery"???? Not being remade... being FIXED! Now, do you think it will be possible to correctly FIX this without it being remade??? They also wrote: "As you know, this is not a machined piece, but a handmade piece of cast jewelry. All specs cannot be controlled to 1/10 of a millimeter."Date: 7/24/2009 5:33:47 PM

that. Who made the ring? I would ask for it to be redone.
Trust me... it is not just the angle... I noticed that something wasn''t right with that side of the band the moment I took it out of the ring box ...here is another pic...Date: 7/24/2009 5:49:07 PM

It could just be the angle at which the photos were taken, but it also looks to me like the angles in the left and right side of the basket are different...?
That's exactly what I saw when I put it on. I didn't need a loupe to see what was wrong with it. I'm hoping this will get resolved, however I don't see how that can be fixed without having it recast. I'm just upset that I have to go through all of this for a BRAND NEW RING. This is actually the 2nd time it has gone back to them for fixing (I just got it last Thursday and there were different but more obvious issues) so I guess that's why I'm starting to get frustrated. This is a trusted PS vendor that I just expected more from.Date: 7/24/2009 5:49:17 PM

Yeah I saw immediately. when you wear it it looks like one side is eating into your finger more. This would drive me bonkers. Can the jeweler fix it for you?
Yeah, at least I know I''m not going crazy nowDate: 7/24/2009 7:34:21 PM

Holy heck, that''s pretty easy to spotI immediately noticed one whole side seemed higher. Verrrry pretty ring though, hopefully they can fix it for you.
Yes ... I'm cursed.... I really liked that ring and REALLY tried to get used to how tall it stood (If you recall in my first post I guestimated that it was 9mm tall!) Well it was actually 9.44mm tall. We had told him immediately when we first saw it that we thought it was much too high, so he told me to just give it a try for a while to see if I got used to it and if not then to come back and see him.... well I gave it a few weeks and thought, "well it's so pretty and well made maybe I can just get used to the height of it..." well it continued to bug me and I went back to tell him that I couldn't get used to how tall it was. I would bang it a lot and I actually have a little scar on my finger from the pink sapphire on the side from banging it so much (you can see it in these pics as as a little dark spot on my finger)Date: 7/24/2009 7:35:58 PM

What happened to your setting with the pink surprise stone? Didn't you have that one made this past April?

You got it. That's exactly what is wrong with it. I even flipped the ring around and you could see the thinness from both sides! The crazy part is I showed these same pictures to the jeweler and even after he received the ring to look at in person said it was only 2/10 of a millimeter off????? How would I be able to see that by just looking at it on my finger???? My vision is not that great and you surely don't need a loupe to spot what is wrong. I'm not feeling good about them attempting to "fix" it. I think it should have been redone.Date: 7/24/2009 8:15:17 PM

Without reading any of the posts here, it looks like the metal shank on the left is thicker than it is on the right, unless it is just pressed into the skin more on the right.
So you used the same jeweler? Isn't it someone in SF (Ben at Kim Yen Jewelers, S.F. Jewelry Center)? Why do you consider him a trusted PS vendor? I've never heard of him and I've been on PS for several years and live in the Bay Area. His workmanship doesn't look so good.Date: 7/24/2009 7:51:37 PM

He offered to give us a refund if I couldn't live with the height the way it was, so we decided to take him up on it... and now this.... We decided to leave the pink sapphire off of the side of the ring this time because it just caused too many design issues... it would stick out too much, etc... so we put it on the inside of the shank
No, we didn't use the same jeweler. Ben didn't make this ring. He wasn't able to use CADS so we didn't want to chance not seeing the ring first before having it made so we used someone who could.Date: 7/24/2009 11:07:23 PM

I saw the flaw right away, without having to page down and find the answer. If you paid a lot for it, I would get it fixed. That would drive me bonkers if I paid a great deal for it. I had a similar issue with a platinum scatter band and the jeweler made the whole piece over.Date: 7/24/2009 5:16:23 PM
