Thanks for all the great responses! If anyone has other ideas, I'm open. Leaning towards a bracelet and/or a pendant. I like the 'earring-dant' idea; just not sure on the execution.
One way to execute this could be with a detachable bale. So, in order to hang the stud from your smaller stud, it would need an attachment like this, though the “drop” from little circle attachment to the top of the stud doesn’t need to be this long. It can be level with the top of the stud :
You can then have either the stud set in a “slider basket” - I tried to find a pic that demonstrates what that looks like, so you can just slide the enhancer on to a chain when you want to wear it as a pendant (but the tiny loop above the stone will be visible, so I don’t recommend that):
Or you can have a detachable bale made. Some possible ideas are below:
A lobster clasp mechanism that can hook into the small circle at the top of your enhancer stud (the 1ct stone). But, instead of the lobster clasp hanging under the bale and being visible, the lobster clasp can be covered by the bale. You don’t need the bale to open at the top, just the bottom.
You can also do a bale like this, if it’ll be secure enough:
My wonderful husband gifted me a pair of excellent quality diamond stud earrings about 6 months ago. The pair is about 2.02 in weight and F VS2 (from ID jewelry). They were not inexpensive and are very pretty.
What I’ve learned is that my 1 ctw pair is much more comfortable for daily wear. I do not think resetting these from a basket to martini will help.
I have been reflecting on what else these could become. I hate to lose money by reselling. Any ideas on recycling?
This is a great post @allaboard
I have no idea how to bookmark it but you have answered a couple of my own questions for me thank you
And @katkrack it looks like you will now have lots of fun desiding what to do with your studs
I kove kenny's idea of two 3 stone rings but there isnt a bad idea in the entire thread
Another idea is a 1ct pendant and if there are times when you don't want to wear a large diamond (eg: holidays overseas), the other 1ct could make a good travel ring.
Didn’t OP say 1ctw, not 1ct
Double check the thread title..
A bypass ring or an open bangle bracelet?
DK
Thank you! Well, he purchased them fairly recently and I contacted ID via Instagram this week and they said trading isn’t an option at this point. I get it .
Looks like the pendant is a good idea and or maybe a bracelet. The Moi et toi ring is sounding interesting too.
Just wondering @katkrack if you have to get hubbie's buy in on your remake seeing how he gifted them to you in the first place ?
Would he consider a trade-up vs trade in?
I would perhaps trade one of the stones to a different shape, like a heart. And then do a moi et toi with that.
