3 Stone Ering transformation help!

Yay!!! You 3 are THE BEST!!! Such a wonderful kind thing you do here. To help others get what one may think is untouchable.

I’m sure after I get mine, I can pop on here and encourage someone else as well.

Thank you!

:kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:

Your diamond is the best cut that is on the market. It will look just as sparkly as your current diamond you love, identical even! But a little bit warmer. That’s it!

This is what I needed to hear. All of it - as I just don’t know!!

While I wait, do any of you have a magic recipe for cleaning your rings? I have WF cleaner and sometimes I use the blue dawn dish soap but I have to admit, the other day I went to the mall, to see if they have any 2ct stones to try on. WHile I was there they cleaned my rings and OMG................ They looks ten thousand times better then when I do it at home.

Have any of you experts mastered a way to get them THAT clean on a regular basis?
would love to hear from you!

Thank you!

Do you clean your rings every day? If not, do they get gunked up with lotion? If so, you might need to soak them in warm water with Dawn. You can also use a soft baby toothbrush to clean the pavilion of the diamond so that the underneath is clean. You can also purchase an ultrasonic cleaner to clean your rings. I have found that no matter how you clean them, it is essential that they are rinsed and rinsed and rinsed! All cleaners can leave a film if not thoroughly removed. Some use a rubbing alcohol rinse and then use a lint free rag to dry - but dry them thoroughly as well. I clean mine every day and never put lotion on my hands with my rings on. I also never take my rings off and lay them on a bathroom sink or in a public restroom. If they are generally clean, a hand wash with a clear liquid soap usually cleans them up while on your hands. I am sure others will chime in with their tips or routines.

I use my ultrasonic all the time with a little dash of Dawn and some ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon. I also have a foam cleaner that I use separately that seems to get in all the nooks and crannies!

Once in a while, I have a little "bling spa day," which is really my excuse for getting out most of my sparklies and detailing them. Lol! I use ramekins and give them a happy bath in Dawn Platinum, then brush them. I also have something called "diamond dazzle drops" that I throw in there.

I am more careful with my antiqued sapphire ring. I try not to brush it too much (just underneath) to try to protect the finish.

My carre channel set eternity tends to get really gunky really quickly, and my three stone also requires a little more effort to keep clean than my solitaire did.

So, I think it somewhat depends on the piece and how easy it is to get underneath the diamonds.

I am kind of fanatical about my cleaning, I guess, but I honestly try not to leave the house in diamonds that don't sparkle!

HI Everyone
I wanted to share a quick update on my ring progress. As many of you know, I have been going round and round (too much i suppose) on which stone to get, which size and can I get over my color changes and my past K issues.

I have been speaking to WF a lot last week and they suggested we go find a store with 1.5 and 2 ct's and see how I feel.

So Hubby and I did just that and we found two stores that had both. they weren't 7's for me to fully get on but it did help!
What I learned what the following:
the jump from 1.5 to 2 wasn't as HUGE as I thought it would be. I guess I imagined it would be VERY big but I am not nearly as well versed in these things as others may be.
Then hubby and I spoke and I explained my dilemma on color, etc. and how I wasnt sure on the J as its so close to a K (and my color thoughts are what they are cuz of prior stone). I spoke about the upgrade policy and so on.

He then said the best thing to me. He said, well I believe your issue all along were 2 fold:
1) the K wasn't a firecracker and
2) you didn't want a 3 stone as you had one previously

So, you got the F and were happy with that right?. so now you are changing the 3 stone which has always been important. If you feel (even if its just for your brain and the placebo effect) that you need to have a F or G then why don't you ask WF how much they next upgrade would look like. He then said, would you be happy getting a 1.5 now (and finally not having 3 stone anymore) and maybe in 5 years, then moving to a 2 at a higher color?

So long story short, that is what we are doing! I worked with Becca and found a 1.52 G VS1 ACA that is amazing and I am having that set in the Elena. I am really excited.

I do think unfortunately for me, because of what occurred with the prior K that even if someone gave me a D and said it was a J, i would see tint to it - cuz my brain just works that way. lol. I know it doesn't make actual sense but being honest here. :???::wall:

anyway, I am anxiously waiting now. They got my F the other day so hoping they start new ring soon and maybe I will have it early November.

Thank you again to everyone who chimed in to help me and share their thoughts.

I saw the J came back in stock and had to come and check out your thread. The brain is a funny thing, right? I'm glad you
figured out what would work for you.

The G is a lovely stone and I'm sure all of us would consider it a safe pick (and a lot of times that's what the brain needs!)
I hope you're more "at peace" with this new decision! Looking forward to pics when you receive it!

I think you have made a good decision. Going from an F to a J would be a leap for sure. While everyone values size, a big diamond that doesn't make you happy is for naught. A 1.52 diamond is a big diamond too! You were always a bit apprehensive about the color difference and that can translate into unhappiness with the finished product. Face up there may not be that big a difference in color, but there would be some. If it left you with nagging doubt, it would erase all the good in the upgrade.

I too hope this leaves you feeling with a peaceful feeling and excitement about receiving your new ring. The setting should be beautiful, matches your band, and the diamond will be white and sparkly. I am excited for you to receive your new ring!!

Yes, feeling 100% at peace with the decision and so very excited for the new ring to come.

Its been quite a journey that started however many years ago with my 1st post about my K and asking if I should put a halo on it. LOL

I am so thankful for this site and the wonderful folks here who help so many. I love popping in and reading other posts and seeing so many of you helping others as well.

Its amazing what most people DONT KNOW about buying diamonds. I sent my husband to Barmakian for my first ring. Its a well known and "established" or high end jeweler around here and i am surprised how much i have learned since then.

As soon as Becca sends me some photos, i'll be sure to post them!

I am guessing a few weeks.

Most of us started out knowing next to nothing about buying diamonds. Many of us know the frustration and angst that go along with trying to match budget with desire. We also know the joy of finding a diamond that can balance those things that can be a source of every day happiness! Welcome to the club - very excited for you!!

If a diamond is bringing you apprehension and stress instead of joy and excitement, then it is not the diamond for you! They should be happy little things, these stones! I 100% think you made the right decision @freedom2016 !

I have found that the purchases I regret most are the ones where I "settle" because I think something is a better deal. It sounds as if you have found the right balance for you. I hope you love love LOVE your ring!

I do want to add that it sounds like your hubby is a keeper who really wants you to be happy, and he seems committed to making sure you get your dream ring! Just last night, my husband took note of my three stone in Walmart while I was pushing the buggy. He said, "Wow. That ring is really something!" And it made me smile...

I hope the exact same for you, that you both enjoy looking at that gorgeous ring on your hand and, at odd moments, blurt out, "Wow. This ring is really something!" Because it absolutely will be!

thank you for this!! Yes, at the beginning back 4 years ago when he first proposed, he was NOT able to hear my thoughts on the 3 stone and he just felt that "he did something wrong". Fast forward to now, with time and i guess other good things that come with marriage, he is on the other side and just wants the ring I wear to be what I truly want and what we both think is amazing. During our discussion on the J vs 1.5 in lighter color he also added that once we get new ring, he will re-propose in the same spot he gave me the first one. :kiss2::kiss2:.

This came out of nowhere and from no prompting from me as i had not even thought of it.

I feel like life and all its twists and turns truly happen for a reason and we need to go through each phase, to land where we are meant to.

YAY for that and for this wonderful space to share it with. You all are TRULY the best.

Oh, I just LOVE THIS! This re-proposal idea is SOOOOO romantic and means you'll only have happy memories of that spot and your ring!

Can't wait for all of the details and pics!

Can you do me a favor if time allows?
Can you take a peak at my G and let me know if u think there’s a better stone I should get?
They have not started on my ring yet so I have time to switch it out.

As you know I’m the worst and keep going round and round. So this is like my last moment to change my mind.
$16k max budget
As white and sparkly and large as possible are what I want.

I’m on here reading others posts and it messing w me. lol
I compared the g to an f but the f was smaller in pics.
Then there is an I. Ughhh but color.
Do u see any others I should consider ?

No, I honestly don’t. Inventory in that size is limited. A G, VS1 diamond will honestly be beautiful. Those are the specs of my ACA diamond in my avatar so I have had lots of time to look at these specs!
Can you tell me what you are reading that is making you second guess

Hi there
Thank you. I guess all the threads on various topics. Size jumps, colors, etc.
I just wanted to make sure that considering all the info - that I was picking the best stone.
And when i decided on the G - I don’t think I came back here to ask you all (who know way more then me), if the G was the best choice if I’m now going for 1.5

I appreciate the response and you sharing its same specs as yours and that u would pick -

I trust u all more than myself. Lol

So now that I’ve asked I can feel that I have 1000% done my due diligence with this one :)
Thank you!!!!

No problem! I am a very picky person - just ask Becca! I know what I like though and know what tolerances I can live with in terms of color and clarity. Unfortunately, you have to pay for the privileges of higher colors and clarities but to me, it is worth it. Even with larger sizes, as you saw yourself, more size does not always equate to a diamond as large as you think it will be. These diamonds can be tricky, are expensive, and finding the best balance of all of it can be a real endeavor. You might like this ring just fine, and may want to spend additional diamond money for a new piece of jewelry rather than continuing to upgrade the engagement ring. Who knows? Only time will tell. I hope that you soon get your completed ring - can’t wait for pictures and thoughts!

I’ve been following your thread and I think you made a wise decisions to go with the G. If your K bothered you, I’m afraid that the tint in the J would bother you too.

I had a beautiful 2 carat J that I loved for years. I compromised on color to get a 2 carat stone and I loved it until eventually, the tint from the side bothered me. I picked out an H ACA and sent my ring to WF. I had Becca send me pictures of the new H next to my J and I decided that I didn’t see enough color difference. Although it was expensive, I went with an F colored stone. I was fortunate that we could afford to make the jump to the F, and I love this stone. I have such peace of mind looking at it from every angle, knowing that there is no tint. WF didn’t have any G’s when I upgraded or I would have gone with a G.

I think you’ll be very happy with your G…I can’t wait to see it!

Thank you both for chiming in and for sharing all your thoughts and experiences with me.

It really helps me to hear others that have been through this before. I agree I am sure I would have seen the tint (and maybe just cuz I knew the color) so I am feeling great with my decision now!!

I also love the idea of another ring down the line vs a new ering. Maybe even a 2mm or 3mm eternity band to wear with. It if I need more bling on my hand. And I could even get labs if budget is an issue.
That’s way more feasible in a year or two vs having the money to get a 2+ G or F as that just seems very far away, unless we win the lottery! Lol

Thank you all so much for sharing what you have with me.

I’ll post pics as soon as I can !

Hi everyone
I’m still waiting for my new ring. I also am starting to think of what to do with my old platinum setting and two .33’s.
Where in this forum would I post to get input on something to make, shall I do that here or in another thread? I know sometimes if u post in the wrong section u get redirected but wondered if I can do it here ?

Yes, you absolutely can pose your question here! I hope how soon you will receive your new ring. Have you considered putting a gemstone in that setting to wear as a right hand ring or do you want something completely new?

I’m in a similar situation and have 2 .33 stones so I’ll be following!!!!

Hello! OMG I am not sure how I missed your responses. SO odd!

Ok so I am planning on making a RHR for me. I have been talking to hubby about a 2ct stone and we realized that in order to get one, for next upgrade it would be almost 20K out of pocket and i am struggling with that as when i do the Diamb on the measurements from 1.5 to a 2 its not a HUGE difference (or its not as huge as I would have hoped). So, for us, to spend 18K+ to get the 2ct just doesn't make sense unless we hit the lottery.
So hubby said, why dont you get a LGD thats a 2 and try and use the .33's for new ring.
So thats what i am going to do. Today, i bought a lovely LGD so thats done and the wonderful people in that thread helped me pick it.
So i am now trying to figure out what do get. I found a 5 stone and i thought to add sapphires but hubby didn't love it.
Then i found this and i think it gorgeous. I also feel that this is meant to be because my old K is in a bezel around my neck from WF and I also have small Bezel ACA studs and i wear the necklace and earrings daily so if I get this - they will all match. I am hoping DK can make this for me. Is there anyone else I should ask to make it?
I will send whomever the 2ct i bought and my two .33's.

what do you think?
any other ideas for a RHR using a 2ct and also the .33's? I am OPEN to ideas!!!

So you are going to pair the D 2 ct. lab diamond with the .33 K diamonds? This will make your right hand ring larger than your wedding set and even more so if you bezel set the two carat stone. Just trying to make sure that I have this all straight!

Yes, that is what I am thinking. I was hoping to make the RHR look not like an engagement ring but I am not sure how to do that. lol
Do you have any ideas? Would it be easier if I didn't use the .33's and did a chunky ring? I am struggling with ideas but am not sure if the 3 stone bezel looks too much like an ering?

Hi
good question, the .33 diamonds are g/h, not K. So i think they will look ok with the D. but now that you asked, i wonder? maybe it wont.

I am open to ideas
