Yes - you are right she did use black diamonds. They felt all the heat near the moissanite in the center could cause the color of the moissanite to change. I was looking at a large AV 12x10 and the price of that stone is so high I would have a heart attack if it was ruined. Apparently voids any warranty if it changes due to heat from a jeweler so they were letting me know - I wouldn't want to chance it.

@oodlesofpoodles Klass made a target ring for me using sapphires around a moissy, all bezel. Wonder why your jewelers are concerned. I wouldn’t want to chance since that either.

That’s good to know - he was not one of the ones I was talking to - I may reach out and see what he says. I am so sorry about your loss - I know how hard it is.
