I too love every Phoenix eye candy post but sometimes the content of the words makes me sad, the pictures are pretty but the words are just so sad. I still love shiny pictures though, that's why after over 20 years of marriage I still peruse wedding magazines. Part squirrel-everything shiny attracts me.

I said I was going to ignore this kind of post, but I HAVE to respond to THIS one.

Well now I'm even more intrigued! I searched around for a few months (not seriously) for my 5ct cushion but what really held be back was the desired shape I was looking for. I just couldn't find it most of the time. And when I did it sung to me. I think you remember that I sold off a good portion of my collection (small compared to yours...much much smaller) because I had my coming to moment where I realized what I liked in my jewelry. I'm very glad I did and haven't looked back since. I hope that if this cushion sings to you then you make it work. If it doesn't sing then there is another fat lady out there.

I don't know yet if this fat lady is going to sing to me. Let's hope...but like you said..it she doesn't, then there will be someone else! Anyway, I am not actively looking - just thought this was a good (financial) opportunity. Soooo...anyhow...

All this. I think if you even have to think about it, it's not the one. I try to only buy jewelry that really pulls at me emotionally... if I have to ponder a purchase, I always end up not loving it.

But then I don't think you've seen any actual pics yet, and if you haven't, I don't believe you COULD fall in love with this. Reports are useful but also not exactly compelling. So I'll wait for more information before giving more input. But if after seeing pics, your heart doesn't just scream "YES!" I'm going to warn you off!

Hi again Phoenix. I totally understand your thought process re: not choosing to use the 3.02 for earrings. And I also seem to have a better understanding following some more of your comments regarding your hopeful plans for the 2.6 and the 2.3. So I say, sell or trade the 3.02.

With regards to the cushion- I agree that pictures of it (and video) would be the best indicators of whether it should be considered. A- does it speak to you once you've seen what the vendor can send to you? B- do you feel it is a fair price with your trades? As cushions vary so much, what one of us would prefer might not be what you would prefer. So once you get the photos I will tell you if I would buy it based on my preferences. And I know the other ladies will chime in.

Hi Phoenix. I knew you'd get some 'advice'. I'm just glad you have the means to support your diamond tastes. I wish I did, because I'd be looking at cushions the size of boulders too! I can't wait for pictures and hopefully video!
I'm not a diamond expert by any means, so I can't offer more than my unprofessional opinion and won't begin to offer a price.
I like that it's not too deep and that the girdle isn't too thin. Love that it has some fluor. I hope those two crystals under the table aren't black, that would kill it for me. I usually prefer cushions to be more square than rectangular, but this one isn't too long and I think it would look nice on your tiny finger. If you set it HW style I think I would die of drool.


Did you buy that big tennis bracelet from that acquaintance of yours? Or even take pictures to share?

I too have waited to weigh in until the pictures. I did want to add that I think a three stone is such a different look from your Holly and your pear that even if you had a 5+ carat cushion I think a three stone would still be a lovely addition to a classic collection. Also, I wonder if the cushion would look small compared to Holly (especially if you halo her) and if that would change your perception of the cushion. Might be nice to keep Holly the star of the show. I agree that if it is the right stone, a larger high quality stone is a better investment than a few smaller ones.

I'm excited to see the photos as you know I love, love, LOVE those large cushions!

Phoenix, I just did a HW inspired halo on my 4.46 antique cushion and really do love the look! The pillowy crown is TDF on that setting! I also like that it gives the cushion a bit more visual presense, without taking away from the center stone. I know it seems like a 4.46, or for you a 5 carat cushion, would be large enough, and really it is large enough, it's just that those darned cushions face up a bit smaller than those MRB of the same weight. If you like the diamond and have it sent to you I will be curious to see what you think about the size, in comparison to Holly, which as I recall is 5.18, or is it 5.31-- anyway in the general ballpark of size.

Maybe you should plan a trip to NYC that way we can try on each others bling!
