Hello All, I thought I would share my lovely new sapphire from JW. I am terrible at taking photos, so I will just share his photos. He also has a video of the stone on his FB page. The stone shifts from a bright blue outside to a deeper shade inside. It just glows. I suspect it is darker than many of you here like, but it is the colour that makes my heart sing. It is currently out for setting with my jeweller in a simple three stone trellis setting, with a couple of .6 round diamond sides. I will share pics of the finished ring. Here she is:mambilla_sapphire_showoff_2.jpg

Oh I LOVE my colored stones on the rich to slightly over saturated side. DROOOOL

Thanks MakingtheGrade! It is nice to have some positive feedback. I have ventured into posting here in the past, but never very successfully!

Hey congrats, beautifully cut stone - do you have hand shots we definitely need to see hand pics as well!!!!

I do not have any hand shots at the moment but I am meeting the jeweller on Tuesday to check on the progress of the ring and I will see if I can get a couple of pics then.

Can't wait to see it finished!!!!

I saw this on his FB page, and it is a stunner, thanks for sharing!

DK

I love this!

Very pretty! It will look magnificent in a 3-stone. Can't wait to see your finished ring. Congrats on finding an amazing sapphire!!!

It is STUNNING imo, and I don't usually comment on most gems posted here, only the ones I really like. The saturation is strong and the tone is just great. Cut is as expected, perfect. Very nice size too. A wonderful gem. Looking forward to more photos.

I think the color is perfect. I like deeper blue stones.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! They are much appreciated. I am very excited about this project, which is for a special anniversary.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! And that's really a lovely stone - the video on Jeff's Facebook page is gorgeous.

What a gorgeous sapphire - looking forward to seeing the finished ring. And best wishes on your special anniversary!

Whoa!!! That's gorgeous  Looking forward to seeing your finished ring!

Thanks again everyone for your nice wishes! I do not have any hand shots of my own but I can add Jeff White's handshots in different lighting. He must have pretty large hands as it looks so small. My finger is 5.75 and it looked pretty large on me! (I am still planning to take a few photos of the stone next Tuesday when I am at the jeweller.) Hope this works, I am still pretty new at this!

Sorry for the picture size. I do not know yet how to make them smaller.

That sapphire is beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished project.

finger shot of finished project please!

Very pretty. Jeff's hand shots are such a good example of how type of lighting affects the color of the stone. I love the color in the first hand shot. So its about 2 cts? It looks to be a great size for you.

I agree with Minou. I love the diffused sunlight shot the best too. Having small sized fingers is a bonus for those with limited budgets. :cheeky:

What a beauty!! I love the mesmerizing color.

Yes Minou, it is 2.29 carats. I need to take a sunny outdoor pic. It looks completely different in the sun. Jeff's FB video of the stone shows how bright it is on a cloudy day. I like it even more in the sun.

I am tickled pink to see all of you coloured stone experts say nice things about my stone BTW.

thanks for taking the time to comment!

Beauty! I look forward to seeing your project evolve. :)

Rosebloom, I have spent much time looking at your spectacular engagement ring. I have wavered between a modified butterfly setting like yours and the basic 4 claws around the sapphire. This is part of the reason I am meeting my jeweller on Tuesday. I can see the four claw version and make certain I am happy with it. My diamonds aren't quite as wonderful as yours. I am reusing the sides from my original three stone sapphire and diamond engagement ring. They aren't quite PS standard, but they are a decent cut and sparkle quite well. The shank of my ring will be yellow gold and the head is platinum.

BTW, I have a five stone trellis ring also with .43 and .44 cert.diamonds. I saw yours in your photos. We really are twins!

I am probably going to need a new band next. I usually wore my engagement ring with a channel set band with .2 diamonds, but I think this will be too much with my new ering. Think I will move it to my right hand with the five stone and think about something new for the Ering. I have a plain gold 3 mm band I can wear in the meantime.

Discovering Pricescope has been really hard on my budget!

Oh it's so juicy!

I have a couple of terrible iPhone pics I took at night in my bathroom before taking the stone to the jeweller. They show the size, but not really the colour. I am hoping my jeweller has a proper camera. You can see how the channel set band is kind of too much already with my original ering.image_2723.jpgimage_2722.jpg

I have played the piano all my life, so while my fingers are fairly small, my knuckles are huge!

It's beautiful, can't wait to see it set!
