Just an update -

She's in as of 4.30pm (as opposed to the 7am that was scheduled), and was able to make it in under her own steam. No coercion involved. So impressed with her backbone in such a difficult situation. Am praying that she sails through the procedure and out the other side - which is where another, possibly more challenging, bunch of battles await, and a long, slow, path back to good health.

I'm not expecting to hear from @bright&shiny for at least a week; sitting up, holding a phone, taking deep breaths - all these things will be beyond what's possible for the first week at least. But if I hear from her husband, I'll give updates here.

Hoping for all good things.

@mrs-b She has been on my mind all day….I’m wishing and hoping everything is going well. She is an amazing woman. She deserves to come out of this with a perfectly happy heart.

A wonderful update from bright&shiny's husband.

The major part of her surgery is over, things have gone well so far, and he expects to be able to see her tonight.

Will hope to post another update in a couple of days when she's post surgery, out of recovery / ICU, and back in her hospital bed without the effects of the anesthetic.

Seriously, tho - you're absolutely right. His willingness to keep me informed is beyond generous. These are really lovely people and deserve all good things.

So very glad to hear this! I was thinking about her all evening. Please keep us posted if you hear more and thank you for being such a good friend to her.
 
Thank you B&S's DH and @mrs-b for sharing any information with us! I can't imagine the difficulty of waiting until 4:30pm when surgery was scheduled for 7am. And all of the uncertainty in between.

@bright&shiny I know you won't see this for some time, however I am hoping that in that time you are able to rest well and have everything you need to allow your body to heal and recover.
 
Just to let everybody know - @bright&shiny read all the posts on this thread up until she went into surgery yesterday and was massively touched by everyone's kind wishes. I would imagine she's still in ICU, and will be in hospital for a solid week. But I'll be letting her and her husband know about this huge wave of care and good wishes so she'll know what she has waiting for her when she's well enough to sit up in bed and check her phone/computer.

I'm hoping to get another update tomorrow or Monday. Due to a lot of complications, B&S's previous OHS recovery was very bumpy indeed, and long. So I know everyone who loves her has an eye to the long term. The next week or two will be telling, as will the next 6 months.
