A fellow PS sister needs our help - EVERYBODY chime in, pls!

Thank you for the updates, lovely @mrs-b

I have been thinking of her & keeping everything crossed.

I’m still thinking about you @bright&shiny..I hope you will soon be able to be comfortable enough to enjoy a visit with your husband..You are on my mind throughout the day…I’m wishing your recovery that is better than expected. Big..but gentle hugs..

Imagine all of us around you in a big circle of light, love, support, and prayer. Feel us take any concerns, doubts or trepidation and lift them away. Then allow in all the healing energy, power, and light coming from everyone - your husband, family and friends, and of course, @mrs-b and all of us. Sit back and revel in the healing energy.

Or, in PS lingo, imagine we all are the halo to your perfect diamond (you can design it any way you want!)

@mrs-b, Thank you for the updates. I’m glad the messages to brightandshiny brightened her a day a bit.

What a beautiful post @minousbijoux.

@bright&shiny, Thinking of you and looking forward to the day you are back here telling us all how well you are doing.

I heard from B&S's husband last night. She's very uncomfortable, of course, but is holding her own. They were hoping she'd have a better sleep last night, but I'm not sure if that happened. Hoping to catch up tomorrow and get a few more details.

The like button doesn’t seem right but I’m so happy she’s on the other side of surgery. I hope she can get some pain relief.
@bright&shiny I hope you can get some rest soon.

Thank you for the update and letting us know she is out of surgery! Sending all the good healing vibes I can and wishing for a smooth, steady, long term recovery.

Sending you continued prayers for a complete recovery @bright&shiny.

Thanks for the update, @mrs-b
Sending healing energy and wishes for an uneventful and quick recovery. Hope rest comes easier @bright&shiny

@mrs-b thank you for the updates! Mass General was the same hospital my husband was sent to when he had his heart attack. We initially drove to Newton-Wesley but they sent him over there the next day. I remember the nurses there being so amazing and good at keeping him calm! I'm not in the Boston area anymore otherwise I'd be visiting! I'm thinking so much of @bright&shiny as she recovers.

Sending best wishes and thoughts for a speed recovery, @bright&shiny !

Hi @Arcadian -

Unfortunately Mass Gen wasn't able to provide the type of care B&S needed, so she's gone elsewhere. I'll let her share where she ended up, but it's absolutely top notch and more experienced in her type of (very rare) surgical procedure.

UPDATE:

I received a couple of texts from bright & shiny's husband yesterday. She's in a lot of pain, but a number of things were removed yesterday morning (I'm thinking drains, maybe??), which should make her more comfortable. I'm not sure if she's sleeping sitting up or not, which is not uncommon after OHS but which would, I think, be a major PITA and exhausting.

I don't want to speak for her, but I'm also guessing she won't be able to update this thread for some time (I'm guessing about 3 weeks at best) - so this is the best I can do. To be honest, I think it will just be a case of inching forward slowly with some days better and some worse than the day before. Recovery can be anywhere from 3 months to a year, depending on how her body reacts to the procedure.

Anyway, that's all I have for now and I'll continue to update if and when I have new info.

Sending up some prayers for her.

Lots of well wishes going out to @bright&shiny! We will all be waiting to hear from you when you are well and able!
Thanks @mrs-b for keeping us updated!

Thank you @mrs-b.. She’s in my thoughts every day. I’m hoping she will be feeling a bit better each day.

Just had a lovely phone chat with @bright&shiny's husband and received updates on lots of details.

Firstly, it seems that, at this point, the surgery has addressed the issue and all is going well. It's too early to say in a blanket sense - "all is well" - far too early - but things are definitely hopeful and B&S is handling the pain with guts and grace. She's very tired and it will be a long road (think - months, not weeks) till she is recovered - but so far things are going about as well as can be expected for someone who had OHS 4 days ago! Apparently she was up and walking a few times today, tho it was both painful and exhausting.

At this point there seem to be no red flags and scans look both positive and hopeful.

A few more days should see her out of hospital, but staying locally to the hospital for follow up appts, and by the time she leaves the area to fly home (3 weeks post op) she should be feeling much better - tho achy and very, very tired.

Continued prayers and well wishes would be great as we see her climb this hurdle and return to 'better than she was before'.

Big hugs to you, @bright&shiny! <3
