I go from liking it to not to liking it. I think it could grow on me.

Ditto! My first impression was that I liked it....and then I didn''t....I just looked again and liked it!

For what it''s worth, I''m a traditional type of girl....not really funky at all....so my *personal* preference would be to set it in all white metal.

Honestly, I think the RG detracts from the stone. I would prefer it in all white metal.

I do like the setting though!

Thanks everyone for liking this little guy (I can't name it but I kind of feel this is a 'he')

I really like the design of this ring, but have been flip flopping between like it vs. not like it. I will go with the safer route when in doubt - get it in WG version. Hopefully I can still exchange this two tone version. I don't have a suitable stone for it.

Do you have pictures of it in an empty white gold setting?

I generally don''t like rose gold (unless it''s with a pink diamond) and there are very few settings with rose gold and a coloured gemstone that have made me want to rush out and buy one. That''s how I approached your photo BUT I have surprised myself and find that I like it. Yes it clashes but somehow it works. If you''re not 100% sure then don''t go with it. Try and live with it for a few days and in different lighting conditions and see how you feel then.

Lovely sapphire btw!!!

I don''t have any other WG settings - the only other setting is a YG two-tone

Originally I got this two tone setting for the similarly colored spinel. I thought the rose gold will be complementary for the lilac tone and it does. The sapphire was a after-the-fact purchase with unexpected shifting to the blue tone, so I am torn!

Shall I exchange for a WG version? Pulling my hari

I would keep the rose gold two tone and order the same one in white gold. Even if you get the white gold one, and you hate the sapphire in there, it should be easy to find other stones for it. 6mm rounds are plentiful enough on Barry''s drops each month.

I plan to set it in this LOGR ring. 14K rose gold halo, WG shanks, upgraded diamonds.

Please tell me your thoughts on the setting, is it too much? Is RG competing with the sapphire?
NO WAY! I love it.. actually.. I think it makes the stone POP!!
I agree w/SDL on this; I love it with the rose gold. It is absolutely gorgeous, maybe someone one could photo shop it for you but I think the rose gold makes it look fabulous!!!

My preference is all white gold, maybe this colour rose gold is too strong for my preference, but I love your LOGR setting, it''s very delicate looking. Did you upgrade the diamonds and gold?

I love your sapphire, it sparkles like mad but with the added bonus of colour.

I would go with all WG. But I have no WG RHRs and have been wanting one. And I think that blue and white are a classic combo. Since you''re torn try it with both settings. Pick the one you like the best.

Lovely stone!

Okay, I have shown the sapphire to several people including my kids and asked them what color is it. Everyone says ''purple''! The blue in it is just not as much as Icekid''s sapphire. One of my jewelery-addicted coworker saw the stone and the two-tone ring, and told me to go with it. I think I may take a chance and set it with two-tone!

Thanks for all the advice here!!!

I think it looks really cool in that setting! Very unique, but still gorgeous!

GO GIRL....do your thing and see how you like it!

My confession - my desire for an Umba sapphire started after seeing Icekid''s beautiful ring. This one is more on the lilac side, but I love it!

I am honored

It''s such a beautiful sapphire! Loving that violet purple color. And add me to the list of liking the rose gold. I would definitely like it in all white too, but the rose is really growing on me. More photos when it''s finished??

I love the combination. It''s stunning.

I''m late, but thats a fantastic combination. I love the setting. and the stone in there had me drooling.

It appears the poll is now tipping over to the rose gold

I have decided to order the same ring in white gold for comparison - just to make sure that I don't make a mistake.

Finally I decided to show this sapphire in the two tone setting to my hubby, here is how the conversation went:

me: what do you think of this color combination?
hb: looks good to me. where DID you get those stuff?!
me: take another look, what do you think of the color of the gold? do you think I should go with all white?
hb: white? what do you mean white?
me: white gold.
hb: there is no white gold, white gold is silver!!!
me: .......
hb: definitely white gold

LOL!! What a funny conversation. I can just imagine how that would go with my husband. Let''s see. . .

me: what do you think of this color combination?
hb: I don''t care, nor have I ever cared, or will I ever care about your stupid gems!!

LMAO at your conversation. OMG. It''s like a conversation with FI!

LOL! At least my hubby didn''t call me stones ''stupid'' but he always refer them as ''stuff''.

We are definitely from different planets!

If silver is white gold then I should be able to turn it all in at a jewelry store and get gold prices for it!!! YEAH I just didn''t know about that till this thread.
