Oh I adore Spess, and it's my favorite as I adore orange (you should see my house) and a I have 5 of them... little perfect rounds. (Think of VR's Av). And I saw the most glorious Spess at a gem show. That's what made me realize that I wasn't a colored stone gal. Cause when the guy (who is a very high end dealer) told me it was 3000 for the spess, and it was PERFECT, color, size, cut (square cushion) and would have been AMAZING for that Leon 5 stone... all I could think was... Huh, what kinda diamond THINGY could I get for 3K???

So I knew I was fooling myself. I really am a diamond girl. I will get a nice blue sapphire piece one of these days, and will finish my turquoise suite (pendant, earrings, ring). But the one is my birthstone and the other my heritiage. And I may, finances permitting, even get a fancy yellow diamond. But beyond that, unless it's an inherited piece or a REALLY FREAKING GOOD DEAL, I'm a diamond girl. *ducks*

And in case you are wondering... that''s ICY white 3 carat cushion.

Though, I could be (rather easily) pursuaded to get a fancy yellow (not light, not vivid, just in the middle) diamond in there. That''s what I wanted for my engagement ring, originally. Fancy yellow center with white diamond sides. Then we priced them.
39.gif
Gah, a yellow diamond is my dream ring. And funny, I don''t care for those really bold vivid ones either. Just a gorgeous canary! I throw in my e-ring, my pad, and my bezel studs if I could get a 2 ct cushion yellow (I think a 3 carat would be pushing it!!)

Hmm... I''d throw in... nah. I like having my multiple bling objects and my e-ring and pendant mean too much to me. And I really want the studs I''ve ordered. I should change my name to "shamelssly adorned" or rather..." longing to be shamelessly adorned" LTBSA not a very good acronym though. I''ll stick with Gypsy.

IF, God forbid, something happened to my e-ring and I had to replace it... I would seriously look into a canary cushion three stone. I''d probably end up with a white diamond (more bang for buck and I do like size) but, I would give it some serious thought.

The one with the cushion that you posted is my ''Dream'' ring. Problem is (and I''m gonna get shot on this board) I''ve recently come to terms with the fact that I am much more of a diamond girl than a CS girl (*dodges bullets*)... so I''d WANT a 3 carat cushion just like that one in there. So... unless something shocking happens to my finances anytime soon, I''m in for a LONG wait on that.

I know what you mean. The ring I posted makes me want to reset my cushion, but I know it has NO chance of looking like that so I''ll keep it as is. This pad thing is my first and LAST colored stone ever. It has never made my heart sing like my diamond has but I DO love the uniqueness of it. That''s what I wanted for this ring.

I will say though, a dyn-O-mite spess would make my head turn, even though I don''t care for orange. I do love ogling everyone else''s colored stones though.

Gasp...sputter...gah.... a pad doesn''t make your heart sing???? Go stand in the corner.........

At least it''s not bullets or the granny bat. I''d take the corner, it''s a good offer.

I gotta say, that thought has run through my head a few times on this project.
15.gif
It''s going to be on par with my e-ring as far as my out of pocket cost and actually WORTH more. (it actually might cost more out of pocket too, depending on what the diamonds end up costing).

And honestly, I think that''s kinda crazy.

Yeah, I''ll take it before she changes her mind!

Out of all the colored stone choices, yes, I love the pad. But make my heart sing? Not like my diamond. My cushion has always made my heart sing, even though it''s a wee thing by PS standards. I''m not sure what possessed me to hunt for a pink stone when I can''t stand the color pink!

Oh yeah, my daughter, that''s right.

It''s one piece AND it''s a symbol of your first born AND your PS gift. So it''s an exception. So enjoy it for what it is. Sometimes, the cost isn''t what it''s all about. But if it weren''t a special piece and all... well, then it''d be another story unless you REALLY adore colored gems.

All I could think though was... tennis bracelet.
27.gif
When he said 3K and I added the price of a Leon setting to it. And truth to tell, the bracelet might be cheaper. LOL.

Ha, a tennis bracelet is no temptation to me, thank goodness.

Yeah, I do like that it's my PS gift too...that makes it all in all a pretty special project.

I won't have any projects for a long looooooooooooong time. As I mentioned, I do not have the knack for custom projects like some of you have. I looked at Ellen's old thread today and there is NO WAY I would have looked at the stone and setting before and envisioned what it is today. Not a chance. Good thing I liked the original too.

In fact, after this, there isn't one darn thing that I covet...amazing eh? If I have another child, I'm going to recycle my Beaudry and call it my "child 2 ring." No more baby related projects - at least I say that for now!!

Mine is wee by PS standards too. But yours has my favorite faceting. Yours and MoreMoreMore''s. That''s another reason I wouldn''t go trading in everything for a canary diamond. I would only want a cushion and I''d ONLY want a certain facet pattern and a certain color, and any sane jeweler would take a look at me and say... take a hike crazy lady.

And it''s NOT pink. It''s Salmony... terracotta-ish... Lotus blossom. And she can wear it on her wedding day as her something old and borrowed. And if you want to stun her, you give it to her if she has a daughter. It''s an heirloom, just waiting to happen. And not a PINK heirloom either. LOL.

Not one thing? Wow. I have a list the length of my arm. You know.. if we didn't like you so much, we might have to revoke your membership for that.
3.gif
I'm sure after the trauma of the custom process and cost of it has passed out of recent memory .... there might be a little something we can tempt you with, maybe.
31.gif

Of course, if you buy a house anytime soon (and I know you guys want to) I'm thinking Bling for T-gal is going to = house projects.

Alright, I've officially turned into a pumpkin. Night all.

Thanks for the compliment on my cushion. Yeah, moremoremore''s cushion was my inspiration too. I know that the faceting pattern my stone has isn''t the PS rage these days because chunky cushions have that *IT* factor but I love the excellent symmetry thing - I feel like it''s a bit of RB perfection in a square shape.

I was also looking at a Leon piece today on PS - Royal Asscher with a pink halo. It was a knock out on her hand. And then I thought, I''d like that with a plain shank. Then I realized I loved YOUR ring, ha!!

Yup, you''d be guessing right. After this, all dough goes to house and child. Boy, being a grownup is no fun.

Nite pumpkin!!

Congratulations TGal!!

Leon''s five stone ring is in my top 3 most favourite setting as well. Unfortunately Leon felt my stone was too squat to look nice in that setting.

Your stone though, is going to look fabulous in it! I can''t wait to see the finished ring!
Squat? You mean the one in your avatar? But it looks gorgeous!!!

My stone is very shallow...maybe Leon might say ''squat'' too? Oh my!!
39.gif
Oops sorry, maybe I should have used the word ''fat'' instead? Although my stone is shallow as well... So squat and fat?

I should clarify that Leon neither called my stone ''fat'' or ''squat'' (actually he said it was the ''perfect'' oval
emsmilep.gif
). He did say however that my stone wouldn''t look good in the 5 stone setting as the sidestones would visually stretch the center stone sideways. A more elongated stone like yours Tgal, would look much much better.

Thank you for the kind words about my ring. I do love it. And the plain shank just suits me.

As for cushions in rage. Since I''m already gonna be shot, I might as well go for drawn and quartered too... I don''t care for the chunky ones for myself . I much prefer the ex/ex modern facet (without the crushed ice) and in a recognizable square or rectangular shape (not oval-ish) and for the same reasons you do. They just appeal to me like no other cushion-- even Boston Jeff''s, which I thought was lovely.

Pumpkin had heartburn over a nagging contract issue so she wrote a page long summary to opposing counsel and redlined a contract, with the disclaimer that it was the last time she was trading redlines and that the issue was settled as far as this pumpkin was concerned. NOW, maybe my brain will leave me in peace and I can get some sleep.

We''ll see.
35.gif
Night.

Wow I missed all the fun last night. Was hopping over here on Amelia''s thread!
9.gif
This ring is going to be fan-freakin-tastic & I don''t think its any big deal that you might love it a tiny bit less than your diamond e-ring. There''s always going to be a favorite! I subscribe to the dressing room motto of "If you don''t love something more than the outfit you walked in with -- don''t buy it" ... but I don''t think the same standards can apply to jewelery. Maybe that''s why folks are angling for upgrades all the time -- they ARE trying to "top" their "favorites". Hmmmmm. Food for thought.

True Ellen - I know you had a tough road with yours but truly, the pics of your rings would make me forgive Satan.

TOO funny. And quite a compliment, thanks T.
1.gif

And I agree, being a grown up isn''t fun at times. At this point though, I just want my house "back". Forget jewelry, forget "things", just give me solitude, and no dirty dishes on the counter 5 min. after I clean the kitchen, and let ice cream be in the freezer longer than 24 hours after buying, so there might actually be some when I want it, and, and.....

Is this a recent thread TG? Have you got a link. Can''t imagine I''d have missed a royal asscher with a pink halo, but you never know.
And I have to agree with you about where the dough goes and has done for the last 25 years! It''s only now I am contemplating some serious jewellery projects.

Here you go Gailey. The ring is similar in scale to Gypsy''s ring, but I prefer her craponia.
31.gif

Ellen your ring is definitely in my top three pricescope faves. It''s perfection and you definitely did show the naysayers you knew what you were doing. Re: house, I have a feeling it''s only going to grow more and more chaotic in mine.
40.gif

Gypsy, I haven''t seen the perfect chunky in person yet, so it''s hard for me to say. You go to a lot of GTGs so you see much better quality stuff than I''ve seen. But you know what makes my heart go wow lately? Transitionals. I want one! I hope you ended up getting some peaceful Zzzs.

Boom, too funny. I thought your oval was perfect too, so it left me wondering what "squat" was! I thought my oval was a little too elongated at first (and it definitely leans to being so) but it''s grown on me. I can see what Leon means. However that cushion 5 stone I posted isn''t exactly lean and it looks awesome. Go figure.

Deco, I think I''ll like it more than my e-RING, but not the stone more than my diamond. I''d do a reset on the e-ring if I could, if only because it''s a thick shank and I''ve found with my ever expanding body and fingers that it''s not comfy! It was SUCH a comfy ring when I was thinner. I wanted to resize but I feel like that''s admitting defeat in my quest to get rid of Amelia weight...which has not BUDGED since she was born. Depressing. (Actually, what''s depressing is my lack of willpower.
20.gif
) Is your earring thread topped? Will have to see what''s new in that world...

Though I know I''m quite late to this thread I just wanted to say that your stone is absolutely gorgeous. Can''t wait to see the setting!

Transitionals are what I love as well. More than OMC and OECs. My MIL has one and I WANT IT. She gave it to SIL, but I am planning on (maybe) buying it from her with the condition that it passes to one of her daughters if I don''t have one of my own (so it will go to one of her daughters). She has no idea what she has and it''s in a safety deposit box. AND when she wore it to my wedding I cleaned it for her (in my gown and all, I am a PSer after all) and it was lose in it''s setting and even though that was 10 months ago she hasn''t gotten it fixed yet... AND it''s not insured.
29.gif
Sorry. One of those irritating family things.

Anyway, I did get some sleep. I''m lagging hard right now cause it''s just after lunch. And all I want is a NAP. LOL. If you are ever in the bay area, we''ll have to have a GTG for you. It would be a lot of fun. But yeah, we do get to see some choice stuff up here.

Oh my, I''m nervous just hearing about an insured, LOOSE transitional!

I''m up in the San Jose area a few times a year - but alas, I don''t do GTGs. Just a personal rule of mine (that I am sure that at some point I will break!)

Whoa Nelly! I sent my stone off just regular first class registered on Friday afternoon and Leon''s staff let me know today that it has been received. That was fast! After Freke''s experience, I wasn''t expecting it to get there until...I dunno...next month?
3.gif

I hadn''t even been tracking it (which is kind of weird for an anal PSer, right?)

I''m happy it got there............

It''s going to be gorgeous. I love that design. Has he said when it''ll be ready? The standard 6 to 8 weeks?

I guess Chrono, but I am not holding my breath. I''m really just along for the ride on this one, which is kind of weird considering how much mula this has all cost me.

I figure I just believe in things turning out the way they''re supposed to - let''s hope "supposed to" means a good thing!

Haha, you guys smell FRESH, so no worries.

I am just as human as the next person so my opinions can be colored by offline gossip. I just prefer a more unadulterated pricescope experience where my opinions of posters are pretty much based soley on what they post here and not offline shenanigans, if that makes sense.

It sounds very personal and well thought out.

I have found that for me (and this is personal) I've just been so amazed by all the PSer's I've met because every one of them is even nicer, more sincere, and more... well MORE in person. Honestly. I tend to be pretty un-sociable in 'real life' because it's so hard to connect with people and when you do a lot of times they betray or disappoint you- - and you can't go back to being acquiantances easily once you've tried to form a friendship. But well, with GTG's there is a large crowd of women, the topics are usually what you'd expect (this person's ring, or that person's project... or OMG she was such a beautiful bride! Or I can't believe you didn't see that thread), and well... you just have FUN and build on something you've already startecd. I don't know if that makes sense... but you've already formed an impression of each other, and since it's online most people are pretty frank and free... so when you meet, it's just understood that you are acquintances (or friends) and are just getting to know one another better without any expectation that you can't go back to just being online acquintances, but with the possiblity of forming deeper friendships if you want to. So I guess that's my long winded way of saying... what keeps you away, is exactly what keeps me coming back for more. Neither is right or wrong. It just is.

If you ever decide you want to meet and greet, big crowd or small one on one... it's an open invitation, that's all I'm saying.
