Alexandrite Help - Engagement Ring

Darkwind - why not explore Preg's option of BGD in platinum and have the setting custom made to fit the stone and then shipped to you? You could then have a local jeweller set the stone for you. There's no need to send the stone away. Don't limit your options by only looking for somewhere close because you want to get the best and locality shouldn't be an issue. BGD do exceptionally fine work and if you look in the diamond section of this website, you'll see there are hundreds of examples of their work. Our diamond friends in Rocky Talky don't hesitate to recommend them.

I gave BGD's a detailed e-mail to inquire about their pricing, at least at this point we know exactly what we're looking for so should make pricing quotes easy for these vendors. :twirl: I'm going to give customs a ring on Monday and see what's the fee (if any) on duty for rings without a stone as that may be a factor. Glad to hear in this case the vendor can make the setting without needing the stone as that does add a lot of flexibility.

When I was requesting quotes, I found BGD to be consistently 30% higher than other PS recommended benches. I would add Engagemeng Rings Direct and IDJ to your list too.

DW: Please keep us posted and show us progress/hand shot pics! :cheeky: Thank you!

I wanted to drop by again :wavey: and give you all an update, it's the least I can do since I've received so much help here.

The ring has been made, we're now engaged and quite happy how it turned out!

Now it's time for photos! I only have a couple and they aren't the best photos...it's a little difficult to get it off her hand atm

This is gorgeous! Very modern and elegant. You done good! I bet she is thrilled.

It's so wonderful when an e-ring project actually comes to fruition and we get to see the results.

You should consider a STMB thread!

Sigh.....it's very beautiful and timeless.

That turned out so, so lovely. Thanks for updating us. Congrats on your engagement!

Beautiful!

Stunning! Congrats on your engagement!

It looks great and in fact more substantial than I anticipated given the size of the stone. You did very well - now will you try the impossible and see if you can get us the incandescent shots? :cheeky:
