I spoke a tad too soon w/ my mind meld. We live in Richmond area & Greensboro. Chris went to fluvana high & his mother lives somewhere near the riva. Currently, Chris is a NC native. So, yes, he does have a VA connection! Elliot definitely a homey though!

I will try to post the pic in our paper about how Elliot needs makeover! It pictures him w/ many past & one present (Chris) hairstyles.

My car broke down in VA when I was there over Xmas ... I was LITERALLY having heart palpatations thinking: Chris/Service Tech/VA ???!!! I coulda, shoulda followed my car to the shop it was towed to. I don''t think AAA would have paid for a NC tow though! No regrets.

OMIGOD. Did you guys notice how positively smashed/high/looped Paula was tonight??? Giggling, slurring her speech, climbing all over Simon. Even in the overhead shots she was literally swaying from side to side. Then at the end of the show Ryan was like "The judges are grounded for bad behavior tonight." Maybe I''m imagining it ... did anyone else notice??

I noticed Deco and I was thinking Paula is always the nice one and here these kids are having their hearts and dreams broken and she''s cracking jokes

Okay I just watched the guys last nite, I'm totally behind of course!!!

Gideon, Elliott and Chris seemed the best for me. Chris just rocked the house, I LOVE HIM!!! Elliott actually sounded awesome, even though I'm still not looking at the teeth. Gideon, not loving the smile or anything but I thought he sounded great.

Sway and all the other mehs just were typical meh...Will actually sang a nice song but it seemed way too old for him. Oh and Sucky Bucky...need I say more. That hair. David actually sounded kind of good, I like his style with the crooner thing because it's different but Greg said he sang the song too sharp and now low enough. Kevin, gosh go home. Oh and Ace? Ew not loving the super high tone there at all and he is starting to look and feel way too feminine for my taste.

What gets me is that some of these people...they don't have to have the BEST voices if they just had more stage presence....do something more than stand there and sway PLEASE.

Ok now time to start watching the vote off.

PAULA! Is back to her old self. Smashed on TV once again. She will convince us, though, that it was pain medication. Poor Ryan was being the mature one. I hope she watches the tape back and realizes what an idiot she is for making these kids feel so small.I felt bad for the contestants; although, each of them needed to go home. The bottom three girls and the bottom three guys all deserved to be there because none of them will be on to the top 12. Even though, I like the chicken little he cannot win...yet! He needs more experience.

First off: Brenna Gethers: DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! Call me let''s make some money? No thanks.

Second off: Heather Cox: No big surprise here. I wish I had her body though. She''s gorgeous. What''s with the crimped hair though?

First off: David Radford: I didn''t even watch him sing off. He just turns me off.

Second off: Sway Penala: I''m Overjoyed!

Next week our top 12 is reavealed. Here are my thoughts:

Kinnik is going home followed probably by Melissa McGuee. Performances will determine who goes home between Ayla and Melissa.

For the record, my NC born and bred hubby would like everyone to know that people like Kelly & Bucky do not exist!

But, I''ll tell you the truth. It''s not an act. I went to school with debutants from small towns in NC who had never had Pizza. I grew up with people who have never been outside of their town. And, these weren''t underprivledged kids w/ a parent in jail. Whether the sweetness goes beyond the "front" - many true Southerners still have that sing songy sweet talking fascade - especially in the smaller towns. One thing to always remember - Southerners never hide their crazies - they are always front and center on the front porch. Oh, and there are still porch sitters that literally wave to world as you go by.

Yeah did you notice how the cameras stopped panning over to the judges about half way through the show?? Paula was freaking hilarious - and Simon was just spurring her on. I think it makes for whacked out shows - but it is really sad for Paula to be displaying herself in such a fashion - get some pride and drink some damn coffee!!!!

And what was up with the pizza or salad joke?? I totally didn''t get it - but I may have misunderstood some of the slurring...

We have been making up nicknames for all the contestants - and Heather''s was "boobs" not very nice but helped us remember who she was. BF thought for sure she would last one more week cause of the nickname but she really did deserve to leave.

Us too - there was a smaller scream of joy also heard from WI on this guy. He was creepy and I hated his act - he just seemed SOOOO fake.

I actually felt bad for Sway - I mean no way was he getting to the finals but he had a nice voice in auditions. Still - I thought he sucked both this week and last week so he did have to go

As I said above - we make up names for the contestants as we watch - Melissa''s nickname is -- "that other girl" or "whats-her-name" -- seriously. Even when she does great you don''t remember her - I''m thinking overacheiving robot Ayla will beat that out. Kinnik really has no chance unless she pulls out the performance of her lifetime.

It''s hard to say how far the sympathy vote will take Kevin. But I do think it will be Gedeon and Bucky facing off for a spot and Will and Kevin. That said I think that Will will beat Kevin. I think both Gedeon and Bucky represent the kind of "niche" markets - Gedeon is the throw back blues/motown singer and Bucky is the country dude. I think that Gedeon is a way better singer - but he is so annoying and weird that I think he might turn a lot of folks off. Bucky on the other hand is "a good ole boy" and that would endear him to the market he is already trying to capture. So hard to say.

FTLOD, I think you've summed up the field quite nicely!

I have a hunch the last slots or "just mades its" will end up being Kellie & Gedeon though (if we find that out) Kellie's a lot more likely to choke than Ayla ... and Will is BOUND to "pop" it up after last week, whereas Gedeon can kind only do what he does (Motown throwback). At least that's my take SO FAR.

Cailet, Shay & Mrssalvo -- I am SO glad someone else noticed about Paula. My FI and I were speechless. Goofing around like that oblivious to the kids feelings was awful!

Wow. I thought Paula was just acting goofy. Assuming that the show really is live, she'd had to be blized at 5:00 pacific time. You'd think if she was drunk they wouldn't let her on the show - telling everyone she was ill.

Ellen does a little blurb about AI. She went on and on about how she didn't like Bree because she had no humility. "Telling Clive Davis to call her - I don't think so!" I wonder if Ellen could affect the votes because she stated she adored Chris & Elliot. She said she like Paris as well. She also mentioned that Kevin shouldn't call himself a "sex symbol". She said "you don't call *yourself* a sex symbol. She said, "the only call to Bree may be from Kevin".

AI is part of our culture at this point.

haha i was so happy to see Brenna be gone...god that whole 'call me lets make some money'...CLASSLESS...have fun with that. wait til i release my album? sure i won't be holding my breath. i hope she realized that it was her total lack of class and rude attitude that lost her america's votes big time. she just drove me insane.

the rest were no surprise, though i was kind of shocked that sway went before kevin, god kevin just irks me with his little lisp thing and chicken little look, totally not appealing and what was he wearing?

i said it before but these kids need to learn to work the stage. even if you have a great voice, just standing there swaying and singing while wearing a striped shirt and khakis does not an american idol make.

i hope kellie makes the final 12 but she really needs to pull it out next week for that to happen. i would love to see her really blossom in the final 12 with some coaching.

i also thought last nite while watching the boys that they are pretty much mostly better than the girls. wouldn't be surprised if a guy takes it home this time. CHRIS I LOVE YOU!!

ETA that i was totally confused at the pizza salad comment and i loved when ryan said 'you guys do know we are on the air right'...classic. the judges were totally bizarro last nite, not just paula!

Yeah! they must have all been blitzed. That combined with the classless Brenna made for some good result show.

I totally think that Ellen could sway some voters Chris, Elliott and Paris'' way! But they all deserve the attention!

One more thing about the AI crew. Does anyone else but me think that they TOTALLY SUCK ASS when they sing as a group. I mean, there are a lot of great singers in that lot but together it is like a train wreck. One thing I liked about last year is that the top 12, as a group, were pretty good. This year! BOO! Maybe its because there are too many of them?

And Starset, I agree with you; if Melissa and Ayla hit it out of the park on Tuesday and Kellie does the same thing she''s done the last two weeks, she could be out.

Anyone else think Carrie Underwood sounded fabulous last night?

HAAAAAHAAAA! Yes! My FI is always like "We can FF through group sing, right?" And I'm like "NO!" but a minute in & I'm like "Okay then ... FF". We also always fast-forward through the "re-sings" AIIIGH. I know they have to kill time but I can't believe they really think America wants to hear the BAD, GOT-THEM-VOTED-OFF performances AGAIN!!! (sheepish) I also FF through the Carrie Underwood performance mostly 'cause if a song has "Jesus" in the title I start to get sleepy. She
looked good though!

and Mara, the LISP!!! Yes, that's what else bothers me about Chicken Little.

I totally forgot about Carrie''s perfomance. I bought XM radio as a gift for hubby. He loves to listen to the bluegrass/country stations. When the song came on - he was like ''THAT''S HER?" It''s a beautiful well sung song. Yes, she really has much more poise and polish.

As far as the group - maybe they don''t get real practice time together until they "merge". Last years singers were better as a group; but, the Justin/Kelly group didn''t sound so good until the merge w/ a few gone.

I saw a blurb like that too! (maybe same one?) Seemed to me like they downplayed her "out of it"-ness & made it seem like she was just misundestood. I dunno. I saw it and she looked S-M-A-S-H-E-D to me.
