they done good...have to say that ayla didn't really wow me and what was up with those big clodhopper shoes? she's already the jolly green giant and she wears those? did you see how she towered over ryan? hehethat made me laugh. and kinnick made a mistake picking such a well known song by alicia keys who has a fabulous voice...though i thought she did an okay job of it. i thought melissa did pretty good even though if i recall they didnt like her performance?
my fave was mandisa, man that girl can blow, and katherine finally wowed me tonite...FINALLY she wasn't boring, i loved the song she chose. paris did an okay job, didnt pick a song that showcased her voice IMO and kellie did better than i expected and i hope she doesn't go home...i really love her unaffected sweet attitude and she's always so upbeat. oh and paris...girl that long minty dress over jeans what was that? the dress on it's own would have been tres cute but i had to do a double take when i saw she had jeans on under it.
we'll see the boyz tomorrow, that means my yummi little chris...

I agree - Alecia Keys has such a beautiful and recognizable voice and I love that song. Perfect example of a performance where Kinnik better sing it better than or different than Alecia or it''s a waste. Okay so everyone, herself included, thought she was sharp half the song. That''s actually not the reason I didn''t like her.
Simon obviously wants America to vote Melissa off. I unfortuantely would have to go with Ayla - she seemed more robotic than ever.

The girls performed a lot better than last week. Again last night I called every number and the only number that was busy all the time was #8 Kellie Pickler, which surprised me. She was good but not the best. #7 Mandisa was busy 90%. #5 Katharine and #3 Melissa are the only ones that I got busy signals for.
#1 Paris: Conga -- I don''t think anyone other than Gloria Estefan should ever sing this song. The outfit was terrible. Her voice didn''t sound that good. She had maybe 2lbs of makeup on. For me, it didn''t work!
#2 Lisa Tucker: Where I stand -- Don''t get me wrong this girl can sing. But what''s up with the starsearch classics? I find that every week her performance is very "child starsearch". You know the ones I''m talking about. They are 10 but they have these big voices and they sing songs no one has ever heard of. I like Lisa; but she is a little too Starseach for my taste.
#3 Melissa: What About Love -- What about love from the judges? Obviously Simon doesn''t want her to stay. But I think she did an okay job. That last note was just HORRENDOUS!!!!!!! She loses control over her voice so easily, unlike other contestants. If she stays, she needs a makeover STAT. That look last night! HORRENDOUS! I know she was going for rocker; yet, she managed to pull off hooker. Shoulder pads and ripped jeans. Her hair looked dirty an she had 5 lbs of makeup on. I keep saying this. I don't think it's a routine. Having relatives from Salisbury and Albermarle - their life can be that simple. There is no need to go beyond their surroundings. I won't be able to watch the results show Thursday. We always go to the ACC tournament. Funny, it's held in the same place as the AI auditions that netted Kellie, Sucky Bucky, Paris & home of Chris. I NEED a blow by blow - don't have a VCR down there or Tivo or anything like it.
I agree. I girls did much better last night - but I'm still looking forward to the boys.

AI was enjoyable last night.
The good.
Mandisa & Kellie Pickler. I thought they both sounded great.
Mandisa has got some pipes, and I thought she looked about 139% better in that outfit as opposed to her grandmama look from last week.
And I just thought that Kellie sounded very good and very confident in her vocals. Just thought it was really nice. Not to sound all drunken-Paula-like, but I thought she reall owned the song.
And of course, Katherine McPhee. I though she sounded fabulous. And she looked so much better tonight...and I did think it was funny that they addressed the preggo rumors...apparently we aren't the only ones that thought that was an ill-fitting top she wore last week.

Mandissa can sing. She carries herself like a Diva - in a good way. Ultimately, I wonder if her weight will be her downfall w/ our society obession w/ stars weight? I hope not - but they even faulted Kelly Clarkson for her weight

I don''t think Mandisa''s weight will hold her back, as we have seen in the past all types can end up winning! Those behind the back/butt shots, totally not flattering. But she sure can blow. And her exuberance is so infectious. Greg also said...''only someone who''s got some ''back'' can sing like that''...I said ''oh she''s sure got some back!''.

Kellie and Mandisa were my favorites last night. I thought the ladies did well but overall it wasn''t until Mandisa that I felt blown away. Kennik and Melissa/Ayla are my guesses for being voted off. Ayla is good but so dang tall it''s distracting to watch her. She''s very pretty though and reminds me of Gabriella Reese (volleyball gal). Melissa is ok but I don''t think she''ll last long if she makes it to the top 12..

so i thought the boys did very well tonite...actually liked them better than the girls yet again!!
was anyone else amazed at how damn good sucky bucky sounded? i was shocked. i could just not look at him and it was almost like a song was playing on the radio. perfect song for his voice. but that LOOK...god boy comb that hair!
and chris, my love, did fabulous of course, the song was kind of boring for me but i didn't care, i just closed my eyes and listened to his dulcet tones, so yummy.
what was up with ace's funky ass falsetto?! my god that was just disturbing, i TOTALLY don't find that appealing in the least. plus anything that reminds me of michael jackson is just disturbing. what have his song choices been like so far? george michael father figure and now a falsetto michael jackson? i'm getting a weird vibe from ole ace.
elliott is actually looking cuter to me, am i going insane? first bucky sounded good and now elliott looks cuter. i think the planet is tilting on it's axis.

Mara, you did a great job summing up the field! I LOVED the guys show. I think Randy is right. It is a boys year this year. However, we will see how they do when they get mixed in with the girls. Only a few of the girls can give the boys a run for their money though.
Gedeon: When a man loves a woman -- He sang this song really good. He has a great voice. BUT he''s sooooooooo weird. That painting he did. Was he serious? At any moment I was expecting him to go "PSYCH", but he never did. He''s so weird. But his voice is liquid sugar. Not enough to win, but enough to stay around.
Chris: Broken -- Yeah! the song was boring as all heck! He did his thing though. He sounded great! He looked fiiiinne. I can''t wait to see what the stylists will do with him.
Kevin Covais -- Starry Starry Night -- I wish I had tivo''d it so I could fast forward through this. It was so boring and so high school play-ish. He was cute in the beginning but I''m over the lisp and twitchy face thing. He has a nice pleasant voice that is unmistakeable. He''s not on par though. I''m sorry Kevin. Grow some scruff and come back later!
Bucky - Wave on Wave -- Mara! You''re not hearing things. I thought Bucky worked it out!! I thought he sounded fabulous as well. The look is sooo sooo sooo wrong in sooo sooo sooo many ways. But his song was hot last night. Paula is right when she says that Bucky is unpretentious. I really get that vibe from him. He''s not hot, but he''s a really likeable guy. I also thought it was sweet when his brother came on the stage and hugged him and said you did good man! It was sweet and sincere. Bring on the stylists. And Bucky, let them do their magic.

Taylor Hicks: Taking it to the streets -- LOVED IT. I even liked his convulsing. Sure it is a little over the top but its not choreographed AT ALL (unlike Will Makar who probably rehearses those goofy faces in the mirror every night). Sure he doesn''t have a dancing bone in his body; but, he lets the music move him. That''s a true performer. I thought his performance was awesome.
Elliott Yamin: Heaven -- I didn''t think the song choice was "heaven" but it was a good performance. The guy can sing. Plain and simple! I think I prefer him in up tempo songs. Songs with a little groove in them. He has a soulful voice. I don''t know about him getting cuter Mara. But, he''s about to.
Ace Young: Some Michael Jackson Song -- I am SO over Ace. His cheesy a-la-Justin Timberlake style. His beanie. His blank stares. His creepy falsetto. His nasal voice. It didn''t even come close to moving me. He is in but there is no way he will surpass Taylor, Chris, Elliott or Mandisa.
Elimination tonight: Will Makar, Kevin Covais, Kinnik Sky and Ayla Brown.
Gedeon: When a man loves a woman -- He sang this song really good. He has a great voice. BUT he''s sooooooooo weird. That painting he did. Was he serious? At any moment I was expecting him to go "PSYCH", but he never did. He''s so weird. But his voice is liquid sugar. Not enough to win, but enough to stay around.
Chris: Broken -- Yeah! the song was boring as all heck! He did his thing though. He sounded great! He looked fiiiinne. I can''t wait to see what the stylists will do with him.
Kevin Covais -- Starry Starry Night -- I wish I had tivo''d it so I could fast forward through this. It was so boring and so high school play-ish. He was cute in the beginning but I''m over the lisp and twitchy face thing. He has a nice pleasant voice that is unmistakeable. He''s not on par though. I''m sorry Kevin. Grow some scruff and come back later!
Bucky - Wave on Wave -- Mara! You''re not hearing things. I thought Bucky worked it out!! I thought he sounded fabulous as well. The look is sooo sooo sooo wrong in sooo sooo sooo many ways. But his song was hot last night. Paula is right when she says that Bucky is unpretentious. I really get that vibe from him. He''s not hot, but he''s a really likeable guy. I also thought it was sweet when his brother came on the stage and hugged him and said you did good man! It was sweet and sincere. Bring on the stylists. And Bucky, let them do their magic.

I didn't get to see it!
My dad was visiting from out of town, and although we sort of watched it while he was here, it wasn't the same - I couldn't give it my full concentration, thus majory hindering my snarkability...you know how dads are, what with him wanting to talk about my life, my dogs, my fiance...WHATEVER.
Good news? I tivoed it...
Although I have to say based on my initial not really watching, I thought Ace did pretty well. And Chris was a little boring. Also, I totally love the song Starry Starry Night...but did not love weeeeee kevin singing it. Also, I was scared and squeeeeed out to see sucky bucky squared, aka rocky sucky bucky, I may have nightmares about that one.

I agree with you ladies on most of them, but, I gotta be honest, I can not stand Bucky!
I find him repulsive.....he is in desparate need of dental work....can they help him with that PLEASE! And of course, the hair.....I think his name alone gets on my nerves.......BUCKY? ANd to have a twin named ROCKY??? Gosh, what were his parents thinking???
His voice seems so raw, scratchy and hoarse....not nice IMHO.
Kevin and Will need to exit first though.....cute young boys, but not really there yet. agreed.
Ace creeped me out too last night.Ok, I can see hitting a falsetto note here or there, but to sing the whole middle of the song with it......yikes

Going home - Kinnik and Melissa. The judges pushed SO hard for them to go home I don''t think they have a chance.

Elliot - this week''s performance wasn''t on par with the rest of his stuff but this kid can SING. I think his biggest problem is going to be living up to the great early start -- he will be getting lots of "you were doing so well in the early rounds what happened?" comments from the judges I think

Ace- you know. I actually didn''t mind the performance. I think it was way better than last week''s whatever song he sang. Creepy that it was MJ but he did a good job. Now he needs to get gritty and sing a real song so he isn''t relagated to the "pretty boy but can''t sing" slot

Will - I still like him. I know he would never win. I know he should be doing talent shows back home at high school. But I still like him
Kevin and Bucky will go home (hopefully). Kevin - I''ve said it before. He needs to grow up a bit. Maybe grow into that big head - figure out a better hair style and control his voice a bit better. He''s a baby so he could always come back for a later season.
