Oh I just love AI morning re-caps!!!! Almost nothing left to say, unless I break it down rank-ish like ...

#1 -- TAYLOR HICKS. This is now "The Taylor Hicks Show" and everyone else is a walk-on. I would seriously prefer if the other contestants PICKED a song next week but let Taylor sing it for them. By far the "Mandisa Performance" of the night. Anyone else notice there's always only ONE outstanding, show-stopper per night"?? My FI for the first time said "Yeah, that guy's in the Final Two". He talented, unique, kooky, handsome and has 101 flavors of charisma. Here's the thing though: He's Adult Contemporary - not Pop & not Rock. Versus a Rocker like Chris in the final -- he might come in 2nd (which worked out okay for Clay until the gay sex chat scandel broke

)

#2 -- CHRIS DAUGHTREY. Great but not Awesome. Didn't love the song. Knew WHY he did it, but didn't wow me w/ performance. Though - when I look at him sing - I can believe I'm already watching him on TRL. That's big. Bo felt like that to me too.

#3 -- GIDEON. Crazy I know! He is growing on me. A born showman. A natural voice. Did anyone else notice he painted on the BACK OF THE CANVAS??? Methinks he not paint so much for real!

#4 -- ACE. Crazy I know #2! I HATED that song, but he sung it well. He's so polished I'm suprised that beanie doesn't slide off him. Welcome to "stunt casting" land, Ace. We'll be seeing you.

#5 -- AIIIGGHHHHH Do we have to keep picking. Meh. Meh. Meh. How 'bout a Top 5?

Oh man, how did I miss this thread?

Well, my top picks thus far (one of each sex): Elliott and Katherine McPhee. I think they have the most talent. I couldn't care less about likeability factor, and that's one of the reasons AI bothers me. Who cares if they're cute and blonde? Do we need ANOTHER ditzy no talent pop star? WE WANT ACTUAL TALENT!

ETA: Oh, and I cannot stand the bald guy (Chris?) and Bucky. I think they're terrible. Then again, I think the music world is overrun with Scott Stapps. Another one....not needed. Bucky's just plain bad. I'm also not a fan of the cute blonde chick who's likeability factor is the only thing she has going for her...Kelly Pickler? I hope she's voted off soon.

I have a hard time expressing my opinion.

Deco! I need a partner in crime to show my hubby that I am not, indeed, the only intelligent woman who loves reality tv. Re-caps on my life as it happens.

Well. Today on FTLOD Idol FTLOD chose "Heaven" as her morning shower song choice. I must say that it sounded muffled as she has taken to locking the doors so I won''t come in to "judge". After her shower, she proceeded to clean house while vocally accompanying Areosmith. She sounded AWESOME! But the girl has got to lose the sweat pants and the hoodie. They make her back look large!

During the day, my channel is always on TLC. Sad! I know.

I totally agree re: thinking you are watching Chris on TRL....I was telling Greg hmmm...front man for Fuel or American Idol winner? I was wondering if maybe he did the sucky song to hopefully get voted off. But like that's gonna happen, pssshaawww!! Seriously even though the song was just meh, Chris was a dream to watch and he totally has that same Bo stage presence. I wasn't a huge fan of Bo (I just so don't like that long rocker hair look) but he did work the stage and had that same presence.

Taylor, I'm sorry Deco but the guy is a tweak! He just totally creeps me out with his I'm 50 look but he's really 24! It's not just the gray hair (who's hubby on here had the gray here and she posted the picture back on page 1? Now HE was cute!) but he is like some strange pod alien person. I just can't get on board with him in the least, esp not after the wind-up toy arm. He DOES have a good voice, but he is just such a friggin wacko to me! And then when they were telling him their thoughts after he sang and he kept giggling like a little schoolgirl. I wanted to smack him. Maybe he was out back drinking with Paula before the show?

I am kind of amazed to say that I kind of hope that Bucky stays around another week or so, I'd like to see what he turns into with some stylist help and maybe another good song choice. But yeah his twin thing was pretty creepy, Rocky and Bucky? Need I say more? Greg turned to the TV when they both were on the stage and he was like OMG why are there two of them!? The horror in his voice made me laugh.

I do blog the life of my Ibizan Hound, Izzie ("The Chronicles of Izz"), on his dogster page...but I am kind of a dorkus mallorcus when it comes to my doggers.

And I am available to recap lives, at least until that book deal comes through.

Maybe it''s the dorky thing that drives me nuts. I''m dorky but only in PRIVATE.

In public I tend to wear a rather droll cynical look much of the time and I people watch, so overly dorky people make me itch!!! Part of why I can''t stand those googly lovey-dovey nerds on Amazing Race...!!

Okay, I''ve been trying to keep my recently developed American Idol obsession to myself, but I just can''t hold it in any longer!

I lovelovelove Taylor Hicks!

I haven''t ever really gotten into the show in past seasons but this year I am watching it religiously, which I blame entirely on Taylor. I even voted

Ace totally creeps me out, but he does seem to be a good singer. It''s just that when he stares right into the camera, it makes me feel kinda violated. Plus, what is up with his song choice? It''s like he''s trying to come off all smarmy.

Chris and Elliott are not my personal faves, but I can tolerate them.

I can''t see any of the other guys winning. My guess is that Kevin and Gedeon might go home this week. Maybe I''m the only one, but I kind of miss Bobby. He never stood a chance, but it was fun to watch him perform. My roommate and I both had "Copacabana" stuck in our heads for days after he sang it.

I still really WANT to like Paris, but she seems to make some terrible choices in songs. I mean, "Wind Beneath my Wings" ?!?
Katherine and Mandisa have consistently given great performances and they seem to be supertalented.

The rest of the girls are all kind of mehs in my opinion.

O.K., even my daughter was like what is with the hug? I felt like I should turn my head and give them some privacy! I can''t believe Kevin made it in either. The only reason Ayla was bawling was because she was mad that she actually lost at something, IMO. I have the biggest crush on Chris, and when I close my eyes I love Elliot, but if I peek, it is over with for me. I think those two and Mandisa are the best on the show this year. Again, IMO. Of course being a southern girl I love Kellie, but I don''t think she will make it all the way, she is too similar to Carrie Underwood in looks I think so she may not get all the way. I just have a feeling we will have a boy idol this year!

I''m glad that Will is gone, but Kevin stayed?! Comon America!!!!! I was somewhat dissapointed that Gedeon went home cause he has a really nice voice. I mean Kevin has a nice voice but not in the same class as Gedeon. Not that Gedeon or Kevin can win the whole thing though. I think that Gedeon could perhaps record some christian music.

Kinnik took it all in stride. She knew she was outclassed and that she was going home. I sorta felt bad for Ayla too. It is the only time on AI that she ever showed some emotion. I stayed tune for her last performance and it was so much better because it was not rehearsed. She has a GREAT future ahead of her; I just don''t think it includes music IMO.

Other noteworthy things to report:

EWWWWWWWW!! That hug was sooo weird. What''s going on there MJ?

Paris'' hair. The clown academy called and asked for its wig back!!! I can''t wait for this girl to get some style.

The website has got Katharine and Kellie''s ages as 21 and 19 respectively. Did you see them carrying on in the stands? They have got to learn some maturity if they want to make it all the way.

In watching the recaps my DH said that Melissa was "ugly". Reserve judgement for after the stylists arrive.

The stylists have a SUPER DIFFICULT job this season!

the other funny - contestant contact moment was with Kellie and Chris. Kellie kept trying to hug on him and put her arm around him - he was all nice and polite but never once touched her for more than a couple of seconds. You KNOW she is wanting some Chris all to herself!

And you know Chris is way too smart to flirt with some skinny blond "minx" on tv when the wife is watching!! LOL


I felt bad for Ayla -- not like she had a chance in hell to win, and if she got any farther she would have had to give up her scholarship for college. So this is probably the better option for her. But still - I kind of liked the robot amazon...

I wish Will would have made it instead of Kevin - sure he is straight out of the Brady bunch but he seems to do a better job than Kevin most times. Did you all see the absolute shock and I believe naseau on Kevin''s face when he made it? I thought he was going to pass out, puke or both.

When Gedeon and Bucky were the last 2 I was SOOOO happy. Either of them going home would have made my day.

BO SUCKED!! I changed the channel. Actually, he was on David Letterman maybe about a month ago and did the same song and he sucked there too. I couldn''t watch it. It was so bad. I really think it is the song though. It totally is not a good vocal range for him. AND he let his hair grow LONGER! It is longer (and shinier) than mine. That''s just wrong. He did look gaunt.

I had a look at the Fox message board to see who was voting for Kevin, apart from votefortheworst. It looks like 11 year old girls who write all their posts like this: "ur kewl kevin and i luv u", and strange 30-somethings who presumably have been abducted by aliens and had all their brain cells rewired. No normal person could really think Kevin can *sing*. I was glad we didn''t have to hear "Vincent" mangled again though - it''s one of my favourite songs and what he did to it was criminal.

I was telling my DH that Clay Aiken had to sing Vincent during his season on AI. His version was much better than Kevin''s though. But in all fairness, Kevin is barely 16. Certainly he''s not ready for American Idol but I think he is very talented. I would like to see him come back in about 5 years when he''s a little more mature.

Those were the 2 things that really icked me out last night too! My hubby and I were shocked by the hug and thought it AI was a family show!

Of course, Chris is totally hot and I can see why she (the naughty little "mink" Kellie) would be after him...but, come on now, he''s married and has kids! Kellie is so cute and dumb that you can''t really disklike her even when you really want to...and I really want to hate her but I can''t?

Taylor is out of his everlovin mind, but I still have to smile when I watch him! His "whoo''s" are starting to get on my nerves just a bit though!

I''m not sure what America is thinking with Kevin! Go home already!! It must be the sympathy vote that''s keeping him on? Voting him off would be like kicking a puppy...

You know the contestants feel that way too---- You can see them look with amusement at Randy and Paula -- kind of like: What craziness is going to spew from these 2 today?? Then when they turn to look at Simon it is all serious - as if they say in their heads: Ok, now time for the REAL review of my performance!

Really -- Simon tells it how it is (usually - although when he doesn''t like someone he will find ANYTHING wrong with the performance) and Randy and Paula try to play up the "whole package" crap as much as possible so no one will notice that they have no clue what music/songs sound GOOD.
