Anyone here has the Valoria solitaire setting in platinum? Thoughts on prong orientation ?

Ugh ugh ugh! I am going crazy thinking about this more. I absolutely have been in love with the Jovyn setting since I laid eyes on @msop04’s ring. Just can’t wrap my head around the process. I know it can be sent to WF for them to set it but I feel that Caysie would do a better job setting it. Also, I don’t know it if it’s too late to do this. I’ve sent my SA multiple emails anxious about how the Valoria would turn out with my specifications. With the recent posts I’ve seen regarding the quality of WF’s bench’s work I’m even more concerned. What to do, what to do?

@Dmndsr4evr11 If your heart is with the Jovyn then I would cancel the setting with Whiteflash. I think Whiteflash won’t send your diamond to Caysie. I think they will only ship to you. You would have to ship it to Caysie yourself. I’m not completely positive so you would have to double check. The Jovyn is a much sturdier setting than the Valoria. The Valoria is much lighter and thinner.

@MamaBee - I was going to go for it and checked the pricing on Jovyn again and it would be $1995 plus tax so that pretty much killed it for me. That’s a lot to spend on a solitaire setting IMO

I have narrowed it down to these two settings and still can't make a decision.

I found the valoria much less knife edge and slightly tapered. I personally don’t care for the tapered look and I liked the valoria. It was very slightly tapered.

@mochidiamonds I agree with mamajemmy that it’s a very slight taper towards the head. It’s not a sharp knife edge. It’s all very smooth and fluid. I personally don’t like a tapered or knife edge ..but I love the Valoria. It is a very lightweight but sturdy setting. I love the way the prongs cradle the diamond.
It’s a very simple but pretty setting.

The ring was gorgeous, and I really loved the diamond -- but in the end I decided to look for a larger diamond and a lower setting. The 14K gold felt too lightweight for me, as well, but that's a personal preference. Whiteflash's customer service was, as always, top-notch.

I agree -- the taper is subtle. It's a very comfortable ring to wear.

I’m also curious about your comment about feeling lightweight. It’s not a very thin ring. Does it feel like it’s very thin gold, not width wise but just thinner material/ metal overall that makes it lightweight? I wonder how many grams it is. I wish they put the weight of each setting style to help gauge how substantial the setting is.

@Dmndsr4evr11 I felt that it was well made but delicate -- 1.9 mm wide and 1.7 mm thick, I believe. The setting didn't feel substantial, but it was so well priced that I really couldn't fault it. It just wasn't what I'd imagined. I wish the weight of each setting were included in the setting description, as well.

I haven't yet upgraded with Whiteflash; I'm still looking for "the one"! I did, however, spring for a slightly larger CBI shortly after I returned the WF+Valoria. It should be here in a few weeks.

SO gorgeous. I am looking at possibly getting a Valoria in the near future, but your photos have me wondering does it not have a knife edge? From the webiste I was under the impression that it does but your photos don't look that way, or am I just not looking at it properly? Either way, I really love the profile so much!!
