Mata I''m in Philadelphia... although I''m from Central PA originally, and had never even heard of WaWa before I moved to Philly. But they''re EVERYWHERE down here, and I''m starting to notice more in Delaware too... I think they''re slowly taking over, one state at a time.......

Only becuase I turned the magic 50 and my waist was keeping my toes shaded, I was winded when I walked up a flight of stairs and the Grim Reaper didn''t seem like such an impossibility!!
29.gif
I had to do something pretty drastic, so I made some significant life changes and now 7 months into what I call "Rebuild Rod," the gym I''m reconstructing myself in is considering me as a promotion to show what an ''Old Fart'' like me can do.........LOL

Well done with the rebuild! You have the best descriptions! Congrats on the gym assignment, I will be rooting for you!

Why, thank you so VERY much. I must admit that now, at 51, I feel better than I did at 30. It shows that it''s truly never too late to make positive strides. I work out for 2 - 2.5 hours a day, on workout days. Lately, I''ve had this odd desire to run, so after a lifetime of never running, on Sunday after my regular workout (an hour of weights and 45 minutes on the elliptical), I added a two mile run as well. Now, understand I didn''t run as a kid - I was fat. I didn''t run as a teenage - I was fatter. So, I''m making up for all the lost times I could have and should have taken better care of myself.

So sorry for hijacking this fun thread with my fitness propaganda. I didn''t mean to jump on my high horse and get all prophetic on everyone........
31.gif

Honest......I didn''t mean to kill this thread. I was enjoying reading about everyone''s ''snob'' issues. I think we''re all snobs to one degree or another. Maybe it''s not a flattering word, but we are snobs on certain things none-the-less. As my original post to this thread said........"Hello, my name is Rod and I''m a Snob" To which you should all say......."Hi Rod"
35.gif

I get passionate about some things and my new lifestyle is certainly one of those things. But please don''t let me kill a fun thread over that..............

I think it''s great, Rod. And I wish I could run, and after 20 something years of not running, I have the urge to just run! But I can''t. I have really bad asthma, and even though I''m taking medication for it every day, it''ll still keep me from doing it. I''m jealous.
31.gif

Thanks Kaleigh and Amber........

Say Amber have you tried an elliptical? I have an employee who I pleaded with and begged her to quit smoking and join the gym with me. And before anyone thinks I'm holier than thou, let me assure you I had my bad habits, of which smoking was one as well (note the was - past tense and there's nothing as maniacal as a reformed smoker - LOL). Anyway, she has and she has asthma (I know, can you imagine smoking with asthma??), but at first , she could only do a couple of minutes on the elliptical, but her lungs are improving to the point she can now do 10 - 15 minutes.

Anyway, you might want to give an elliptical a try. After my hour of weights every evening, I do 45 minutes on the elliptical. I loaded frenetic dance music on my MP3 (though I'm not fond of the music) to help me keep my heart rate up and my RPMs. I can't believe how good it feels. Here I go again, trying to convert the world...............

My best to you..........

With that thought on toilet bowl rings???? LOL......It just might. Doesn''t that make you want to run on out and stock up on some super liter sized bottles?

Clean my diamond with Coke???? You must be crazy!! Who on this forum would do anything that could potentially harm their pet rocks?????????

LOL LOL LOL

59%. LOL

well I took the taste test, I got 43%, funny, I thought I would be much more of a snob than that!

One of the experts said you could put plat in some kind of acid and it wouldn''t hurt it! Bet coke would eat up Rhodium plating though!

Rod don''t worry about hijacking the thread, I am one of the worst offenders for doing that and I do it in real life too, just the way my strange brain works! You didn''t hijack this thread at all and you have done a great job with doing something so good for yourself! I am definitely fitter than I was a few years ago - it can be done even if we are getting a little longer in the tooth so to speak
9.gif

Oh Thanks Lorelei............The first thought that pounced in my head when you commented longer in the tooth, was prehistoric. I guess I''m what''s now being called "Boomeritus." That makes us somehwhat prehistoric. According to Boomeritusdom, we are the generation who has:

1. Single Handedly fueled the growth of fitness gyms across the globe

2. Been the reason there are more Orhopaedic Specialist than MD''s

3. Pushed our bodies beyond their capabilities

4. Had more hip, knee and rotator cuff surgery in history

5. Made "Personal Trainer" an integral phrase in our vocabulary

Getting long in the tooth???? I guess I am, but not by looking at me
11.gif

You are too funny Rod! Long in the tooth comes from a saying about horses, as they age the gums recede and the teeth appear longer! I am Boomeritus too ( love it) and you are so right with your listings below! Even though I am now 42 I feel so fit and strong and am in good shape! My piano teacher ( another grammar snob
11.gif
) complained to his doctor about not being able to bend his knees without pain anymore and the doc told him " what do you expect at your age?" He is 38!
32.gif
That is incredibly youthful! So compared to most, even with my wonky back and the pain it gives me I am not doing too badly!

Incidentally I wonder if ladies who wear mongo rocks are descended from the Honkersaurus period?? ( terrible " joke"
20.gif
)

"Honkersaurus!!!" Fantastic Lorelei
36.gif
36.gif

Shame on that Doctor for telling anyone at the ripe "young" age of 38 that they should expect knee pain. That''s utterly rediculous. I know what you mean about having back pains. I "used" to be my chiropractor''s best "friend!" As the porker I used to be, I routinely saw my chiro-buddy three times a week. He misses me now. I have embraced the benefits of "core training" and am so happy to say I am completely back-pain-free!!!

I knew you and I had a connection from the first time we communicated. If you ever find yourself in Tampa, please let me know. I can take guests to my gym anytime!!

I know Rod, from the minute you first posted I felt I had found a friend! You don't need to meet to know a kindred spirit when you encounter them! I will definitely let you know if I am ever in Florida and we can have that gym session and maybe some wonderful fattening food afterwards!
41.gif
That is fantastic that you have conquered your back pain with your RR project! Well done! It just goes to show that you can be fit at any age. The other day I accidentally shut myself into one of the stables and couldn't get out as I was hurling huge bedding bales over the door and they had fallen and jammed the door. I was able to vault up and over the door somehow and free myself! Now I couldn't have done that a couple of years ago, the height of the door was almost 5 foot I would guess and it was one of those YES! moments for me! I felt like the Bionic Woman!

I have just had an evil thought
11.gif
The cash you have saved on chiropracters bills you can put towards a blingage fund!

Well now you''ve gone and done it.........I''ll have that "slow" motion "bionic woman" dedededededede sound spinning around in my head all day........LOL

Funny, there are probably many who don''t have a clue what either of us are writing about!!

I look forward to that workout and high caloric celebration afterwards!

I wanted to do the dedededededede but you put it beautifully!

They just don''t make TV shows like that anymore. So campy, so tame by today''s standards, but so entertaining. You just couldnt'' wait to see Lindsay Wagner run in slow motion and kick some butt!!!! dededededededede

rod....so this is where you''ve been hangin'' out huh? lol.........first off....i''m a snob. period. now that i got that out in the open.....bionic woman? you gotta be kiddin'' me.....i''m talkin'' the six millionn dollar man! i remember the ''pilot''...the first show. it was the thing, ''back in the day''....as they say nowadays. and, i even had a six million dollar man doll! uh, oh, did i just write that? .....

Hey Ron.........It''s been a workout weekend in Tampa. Georgeous weather. Yesterday (Saturday) we had a 2 hour session with our trainer. Then we did 45 minutes on the elliptical. Had a salad for dinner and then saw a great movie, Friends With Money. Such an ensemble cast. Then today, we worked our upper bods for an hour. did 30 minutes on the elliptical and tada.......I ran a whole mile withouth having to stop, then I ran the full mile back. Such a great accomplishment for a former smoking fat boy!!!

Just had to comment on the Bionic Man doll. I''m betting I can outdo everyone with this........And, I''m even embarrased to mention it, but it is funny. I HAD A BEATLES WIG. Deed I did, and was I so proud of it. There I feel better.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

ps: saw all the criticism over the possible setting for the throne. Good lord, no wonder you went into hiding. From one guy to another, get Tanya what you think she''ll like. You got the killer stone of the century. Any throne will be fantastic. And I think that setting you showed is stunning. But, who cares what I think, or anyone else thinks. It''s going to be on the hand of the one and only Tanya, and all that matters is what you and she think.
