Ok, ready for some good news??? My Target order of TP just arrived! I order them over a week and a half ago when this whole TP thing got serious, and when my usual 2 day shipping turned to over a week, I was starting to think I'll never get them. As I was ACTUALLY running out of TP, I worried that this "crisis" was about to get real. LOL!
I'm outside of NYC, and commute to the city as well as NJ. I just came back to work last week after 3 months medical leave and I was working from home mostly anyway but was planning on going into the office once or twice a week. But I just heard unofficially that someone from my company tested positive, so just waiting for the official email telling us to stay home.
NY state confirmed cases are now 220.
My parents are in Korea so we've been following their situation closely. And I have to agree, they really test aggressively. The latest cluster of infection was found in a call center, and they literally set up a testing facility in front of the building to test not only the employees, but residents that share the same building. It sure looked to be a stark comparison to how things are managed here in the US.Hopefully this will help some folk feel better. I do think part of the concern has been lack of information and limited ability to test for covid. I predict that as testing is more available we will find out that it’s more widespread than we thought and also (by extension) less deadly. The US has had high seeming mortality rates in part to limited availability of tests and selection bias (ie we were only testing people with significant symptoms, and if you already have significant symptoms then you’re already pretty sick).
So bad news: it might be more contagious and wide spread than we thought.
Good news: that also means it’s less deadly than we thought.
