I am getting a little more concerned, not as much about how bad the virus is but the stupidity of people.
I'm still worried more about the flu because a lot of people around here have it. Lady came over to drop off something for us to scan for the landlord.
She knows I'm not in good health, comes in has the sniffles and says that everyone at her house has the flu.
I just barely refrained from yelling get out!
Cleaned everything she came in contact with including the doorknob with disinfectant wipes.
There is no toilet paper again. I'm actually starting to worry that once we run out of our 40 pack, we won't be able to get more. All the Lysol/Clorox products are also sold out, and OTC cold and flu meds. No hand sanitizer. So to be honest, my household is not prepared really, and we can't get prepared. Canned goods are also raided. I keep hoping the hoarding will stop so we can just do normal shopping. We also usually do groceries several times a week for fresh meat and produce. We being anyone but me now.
How is it worse than we are hearing?!? The things going by make it look like about as bad as you can possibly get. Would love to hear anything you are comfortable sharing.
@kipari Most of the reporting on US news sites are focused on the US. I don’t know if people know where to find fact-based reporting of world news.
I strongly encourage those who believe that we’re “not getting the whole story” to read these articles and provide reputable sources that show what we’re missing.

But I'm coloured and it seemed that Africans are immune
I agree that for me personally the medical situation mentioned up thread is about as bad as it can get.
On a psychological level many Italians who aren't sick yet feel like in a surreal apocalyptical movie. Rome, Milan Turin are completely under curfew. Nobody going out except if they absolutely must. Police checkpoints every 100 m.
I've been hearing it from friends in Italy but here it is also on the news. Again: no reporting in the US?
But I agreed with you that even if it feels bad for them, the real drama is the medical situation.
Hi @Trekkie I've read that from you. I couldn't find any data on this, do you have a link to data or anything ?

@kipari I'm liking your posting in the middle of the night here in the US because I, also, have wanted to have more information on this topic. I was driving my daughter's fiancé to work one morning and I shared Trekkie's posting about African heritage and immunity to the virus with him. I also shared her comment on how she wasn't going to test her theory, though! (Matt is bi-racial and I told him that day that maybe he was slightly protected...but not to count on it!)
This was the article: https://www.thesouthafrican.com/new...date-experts-baffled-africa-why-not-infected/
I feel like a bit of an idiot now. I'm aware that the plural of "anecdote" is not "data" but until the NBA player, no black people had tested positive. (The tour group that returned from Europe and tested positive are understood to be white South Africans).
Morning all, hope everyone is ok. So breakfast news from the UK! There will be a Cobra meeting later and it is anticipated our Government will announce some 'social distancing' strategies. There is much debate over what may be decided and if this will go far enough to slow spread of Covid-19.
Many people now believe we should just 'get on with it' and do an Italy style lockdown rather than doing it piecemeal.
I sprayed my packages with Microban and let it sit for 10 minutes...lol Yeah I know, overkill...

They have cancelled school for one of the schools in our district for today because someone at the school was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. They did not cancel any other schools and no word if it is just for today or what.
We also got an email that they are cancelling all field trips across the district, all gatherings and sports and they have sent out a survey to establish how many families have internet access for distance learning.
It just got real here.
I still don’t understand why we don’t have more tests?!?!?!?!?
@Loves Vintage, right because without the tests it's all a guessing game then. Our youngest came down with a cold Monday and I kept him home two days, he still has a cough, no fever. I was actually afraid to send him back today because they might think he has the virus.
It would be so helpful if kids who have been sick could be tested before going back to school, it's a moot point though if they go to distance learning.
Btw we are in Middlesex county so probably not that far from you!
