I found out that they're doing drive through testing in Florida. I'm trying to find out where thats taking place.
Check what is required too. In WA, many insurance plans won't cover without Dr order.
I had H1N1 in 1999-2000 season, I had been sick since early November with some sort of cough virus thingy, then I acquired norovirus, it was hell, weeks of getting better and then relapsing, then I got H1N1 mid December 99 I thought wow! I'm feeling better! no coughing, then I went a few days later and was grocery shopping and as God is my witness I'm pushing the cart and all of a sudden I got so hot I thought I was going to faint, sweating, and within hours coughing, went to the emergency clinic, tested for flu and had H1N1, that FAST, I spent the turning of the millenium being so sick I woke up once to see a ball going down in Vegas, missed NYC entirely, then my mom died 1/8/2000 it was hell.
I don't think I can catch h1n1 again but I never want it again either. very sick.
I find it interesting that in South Korea, government started selling 2 masks a week per person recently. They sell through pharmacies and people line up to get the masks, and even then often times masks get sold out before everyone can buy them. But still, interesting contrast to how our gov is managing thing in the US...Just FYI: face masks are mostly recommended if you have symptoms and are trying not to spread anything.
As a preventative it’s fairly ineffective if not actually detrimental because it causes most people who aren’t used to wearing them to touch their faces more.
Granted if everyone wore one all the time it might help just because it’d probably happen to decrease people who are asymptomatic from accidentally spreading it. But evidence so far does not support that covid is airborne, more droplet/fomite. Hence all the handwashing!!
I thought I remembered someone mention it here, but how much would it be to be tested? I assume they won't test you unless you have travel history or had contact with confirmed COVID-19 person?
Will do. Seems like some states these are popping up. I have not found enough concrete evidence that this is happening here yet. I'll post it for sure once I know.

In Manhattan, an Asian woman was assaulted for not wearing a mask. I personally feel like if I wear a mask that might make me stand out more to be targeted, but all these stories are making me feel anxious.

There's no longer any point in testing. It's a false sense of security, and doesn't do anything different. Stay away from people. If you have symptoms call a healthline. If you're having trouble breathing, then you go to a healthcare institution. Otherwise, you isolate at home until you're better.
@cmd2014 - I was at Safeway in our area yesterday and there were stacks and stacks of toilet paper and paper towels everywhere. I guess they were getting ready for a rush. Most essentials were still on the shelf. I don’t know what it is like today because this was before the announcement of the first confirmed case. My husband was at the Co-op today and he said it was unusually busy.
My husband thought I was nuts when I bought a 6 pack of Clorox wipes at Costco the last time. He’s not thinking that now.
OMG the craziness! I just needed a few things at the store. (This is a restaurant supply store I live and was near empty two days ago so I thought it would be quiet!) No traffic on the roads. Then... Parking lot insanity. Shelves are nearing bare. Sold out of rice, beans, etc. Short on many others. Luckily, the panic shoppers mostly don't know you are allowed IN the freezer so I got what I needed from the back. The line went clean across the front of the store (normal for busy) and wrapped clean up the other wall past produce (in 20+ years of shopping here have never seen that!).
Frozen meats are going, frozen fruits & veggies almost gone. Is a mess. Again.
I don't know what is happening here. We have 3 confirmed cases, all of whom were already in self-isolation as they had traveled home from places known to have outbreaks and there is nothing to suggest that anyone else was exposed, and yet there is panic and pandemonium in certain stores here. Safeway is still pretty sedate, even though the TP and cleaning aisles are pretty picked over. But I went to Superstore at lunch to pick up a few things for dinner, and I couldn't believe the crowds. I also couldn't believe how many people were in masks and gloves (going against everything our public health officials have been asking us to do) and how many people were fighting over things. And yeah, the TP aisle was empty.
All of my work-related meetings have also now been cancelled through to the end of April at least, and we are being advised by our professional body to consider seeing people through telehealth, if possible, even if neither we nor our patients are sick. It's all a little crazy. Although I also totally understand that implementing social distancing measures now before anything breaks out is the best way to avoid overwhelming our hospitals with cases. We already typically work at full capacity, so I can't say I'm not a little concerned if we start to see numbers like Italy has had.
I'm also annoyed at DH's work. They are insisting that he still travel for meetings even though our provincial health department is asking employers to put all non-essential travel on hold. Honestly, his meetings are NOT essential. They could be done over skype. Or postponed. But no. They want him going one place next week and a second place again the week after. It's a little insane.
