Are you worried about the Coronavirus?

They're starting to prohibit visitations in nursing homes. I'm not surprised as thats where the most vunerable are. Currently its 30 days from today in Broward.
 
The La Governor and the NO Mayor are about to have a joint press conference at 3:00 (but probably when Trump finishes).

I’m guessing the cases have exploded because they also just expanded testing. Plus, it was clearly spread during Mardi Gras.
 
Thermometers are getting to be hard to find. Get one if you need one.
 
We were planning to go to Sam's club tomorrow. I'll take pics if we actually go.

Partner's adult daughter arriving at 3am tomorrow, from Vegas, staying for a week, for no reason. Literally no reason for her visit. I'm going to be hiding in my suite for the week.

Tried to find a digital thermometer on amazon. Wound up having to settle for a meat thermometer after reading up on which are the most accurate, because Price Gouging.

All my friends, no matter the employer, are working from home. Just got an email from one of my client companies stating that not only are all my events now cancelled, going forward they will be leveraging internal staff as much as possible, so there goes my income. [feeling defeated]

NYC schools remain open. Many students are staying home though. The fear is palpable.
 
So now Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba have closed all schools. Manitoba has 3 cases, so they are trying to be proactive it looks like.

Ha ha! My 20+ year old digital is becoming increasingly unreliable. So what did I just find the other day while cleaning out an old jewelry box? A good old glass and mercury thermometer from my childhood. Guess what? That puppy still works like the day they made it. Since it's likely older than me, all I have to do is continue to not break it, and it'll continue to work. That's why old people save stuff. Low tech no-battery-required has its charms that's for sure. :)

I'm in the same spot with my 20+ year old digital. No luck finding an ancient mercury filled yet though :lol:

I told DH that I am DONE for the day and might look next week. Maybe.
 
I found a thermometer at the dollar store! I bought two..I took my temp a little bit ago and it’s pretty accurate. It didn’t beep when it was finished but I took it out and it said 98..Close enough...haha

Did your hubby ask her if she is sick? She may be scared and wants to be with you guys..
 
We just got our first presumptive case in our county. I’m so afraid my husband is going to bring it home. He doesn’t work in this county but in a county that has a few cases. He’s with tons of people during the day. Next weekend we’re bringing all the stuff I collected over to Maryland. I already have a bunch there but I have more. I wish David’s workshop would close.

She's not scared, and I'm hoping she's not sick. She just doesn't agree that it puts us at risk. She is of the opinion that this is all a political ploy by evil lefties (me) and that it will all pass like any other flu. I hope she doesn't get sick. I would not wish it upon anyone, ever. I try very hard to be welcoming to her but this time I find myself struggling a bit. Trying to meditate on kindness and generosity of spirit. That should help me warm up a little.
 
My county, as well as surrounding counties, have closed schools for two weeks. My district is closed for one week with two more likely.

DD’s colleague is still waiting for results, so we can’t have her home yet. I’ll be self-isolating now.

I only use the old fashioned mercury thermometers.

Introverts unite....it’s our time now.
 
Our county has shut down all of the schools until April 13th.
 
My county’s schools are going into spring break and then will remain closed for a further 2 weeks after that, according to the pizza delivery guy. He has no idea how he will find child care for his kids and still work full time.

While I'm well aware the ex-mayor of Wuhan tried to cover things up, I wonder where you are getting the "First cases reported" quote from. This may be a matter of mistranslation. The verb for "report to authorities" is different from "reported by media"; there is no distinction between the two different verbs in English. Maybe it was first reported by media in late December, in which case they would not be deliberately spouting BS.
 
Governor Inslee expanded yesterday's orders to cover the entire state of WA. All k-12 schools closed until (at least) April 24. No gatherings over 250 people. Etc.
 
Are you guys still having housekeepers come and clean? I'm thinking we should cancel, but still pay them. Would it be bad to pay and ask for future "credit"? We do once every 3 weeks now, but can do once every 2 weeks in the future?
