OK, all you adventurous guys and gals...Australia tourism board has a job opening. They will pay 100K to fly you to Hamilton Island to snorkel, hang out in a multimillion dollar ocean villa, blog and talk to the press. The website has actually crashed and is not available since I checked this morning, but you will still have 6 weeks to apply. You''ve got to be able to speak great English, and I would imagine, look great in a bikini, but that last one is just my opinion.

Someone sent me that link today. What an awesome job opportunity...especially for the marine biology majors in school! (at least that group was who I thought of the minute I read the article)

wow

going check it out now...

Wouldn''t that be the life....

Too funny- my husband just sent me that link, LOL!

I''ll take that job! But going back to reality would be horrid.

Yeah, 5 years ago, I would have been ALL OVER this!!

I asked TGuy today, can I apply, and if so, would you let me go? He said, "ME? What do you mean, *ME*? It''s a huge villa, we''re all going!" Ha. He then asked me in all seriousness if I''d leave Amelia for 6 months to go. After a very split sec of hesitation, I assured him, of course not.

For those of you who want to apply for this, you need a video application. You can download free trial software of a lot of apps out there with full features. With some, I believe you can even burn to DVD with some of the trial versions, which is a feature often disabled since software companies have to pay royalties for the codec.

T-Gal, I saw this article first thing this morning and immediately forwarded it to FI

I would be all over this if I didn''t have the kid!

Thanks for posting this! I have a friend that spent a couple of semesters of her marine biology undergrad down under, and now is applying to vet schools and planning to move to Australia someday to become a marine vet. This sounds perfect for her

BF would love something like that! He worked restoring a lighthouse in Maine and loved living on the small island. I think something like this would be perfect for him.

Wow, that sounds perfect...

I have been trying to apply but the website has been busy all day!

Sounds like hell.

If by hell you mean: sun, sea, sand and 100k in your bikini back pocket.

I saw that! I would so do it!!!!!

That sounds...um...too good to be true

Oooh, I so want to apply! I swim! I communicate in English! I like beaches! That''d mean leaving FI, the puppy, and the kid for 6 months though - don''t know if I could do it.

I can swim I can even speak Australian ;), I should so apply for this job LOL

FI can come with me and be my personal chef or something LOL.

It''s not too good to be true, we are a smart bunch us Aussies.

Due to the falling dollar and the financial crisis, they wanted to boost Australian tourism, how to advertise Australia to the world and get people interested in our big island home. Now the WHOLE WORLD is talking about us here Down Under. This was probably the best 100k ever spent from their advertising budget. Publicity in countless newspapers and tv reports all over the world. 100K couldn''t buy you that in advertising.

Hamilton Island is part of the Whitsunday Islands, some of the best beaches in the world, and right on the Great Barrier Reef. Try googling Whitehaven Beach and the Great Barrier Reef, just breathtaking! A stunning place which can only be seen to be believed. If you have a spare 6 months, go for it, it would be the chance of a lifetime!!

I just read the article this morning!! Alas, I can''t swim so that rules me out

Yup, I was thinking that this morning. The person who came up with this plan should stinkin'' win some kind of award. 100K is nothing in the publicity budget, but this has gotten massive attention and captured the dreams of millions.

Honestly, if I looked good in a bikini right now, I''d contemplate leaving TGuy and the kid! 6 months of lounging, swimming and writing...what a dream job.

He he, this was all over the news last night. All the best to the lucky soul who gets the job!
