My first diamond e-ring (1ct rb) one was about $4500 USD. The ''official'' garnet e-ring(came before the diamond..my idea) was a bit over $250 USD.

My e-ring was only about $1200 for a 0.5ct RB in a white gold Tiffany setting from a B&M at the mall. The hubby and me didn''t know any better and if I''d known what I know now we could have gotten a MUCH better deal. But, with that said, I LOVE my e-ring and hopefully one day it''ll be a nice heirloom.

On a side note, I did find a really beautiful setting 7 months after we were engaged (pave cathedral with matching wedding band) on e-bay from Oxford Diamond Co. The appraisal I got was for $1050 and I only paid $200. SCORE!!!

Has anyone got time to estimate the average ring price here on this pol dearest LIW?

My looking guess is it must be around 10k !!!!

About 9k - so you are right. A bit of an understatement as of late!

We inherited my center stone. My setting, with sidestones was about $2600, but if we''d have paid for the center stone it would have been more than double that.

I think the question should be.. How much do you think I spent?

OK... just to inspire those that are looking for a colored gemstone and a really nice setting... Total... I spent around 17oo$ for everything. wedding bands, E-ring and Homer stone.

But I am a major major shopper and I ALWAYS look for the cheapest possible way. I know that I was REALLY lucky on my setting. I got the setting and the W-rings 18K WG and .57 TCW diamonds for less than 1100$

My original engagement ring (1980) was about $550.00. The upgrade (2005) was $5,000.00.[$$)][$$)]

In July my e-ring cost between $17K and $18K. It is a lot of money and every day I am humble and think how lucky I am. The only reason my fiance and I could afford such an expensive ring is because we both work in Saudi Arabia where we earn tax free salaries. We have had to make many sacrifices here and, at times, have felt extremely unsafe and wondered whether the danger was worth it. After the problems in Saudi Arabia last year, we both considered leaving. My ring has certainly helped me smile through some days where I am totally wound up with this place - it it helps maintain my sanity!!! Deep down, I know whatever ring my fiance gave me, would be the most fantastic ring in the world because it''s not the cost of the ring that counts, it''s the meaning behind it. All e-rings are equal in my book as they''re given with love and that is immeasurable and beyond monetary value. Joy in the heart is so much better than material things.

Mine was $35

That was the cost of sizing and pronging an heirloom ring in 82. The ring was purchased in the fifties for $500 I believe. The value of the stone (.55) was guessed to be around $1500 in 1982 but I did not want the stone taken out of the ring for an appraisal because it would have torn up a really nice mounting. I haven; the foggiest notion of what that ring would have cost brand new in 82 and even less of an idea of what it would cost now.
