She''s happy with it.. Isn''t that what counts above having a bigger stone?

I''m 21, my FI is 24 and we live in Québec, Canada. By those standards I probably should have a non-existent ring! But I am extremely lucky and have a gorgeous 0.506ct RB with two marquise sidestones 0.13ct each, so ring is 0.76ctw.

I will be getting engaged any day now. The ring just came in from the jeweler's so he just has to make it offical. It's a round 1.51 D. I'm 27 and he's 41 and we live in Florida.

.63 pear. 13 years ago. OC California. We were 18 and 21.

Total weight will be .73ct..
Center stone is .52 princess cut..
I'm 25, work and study full time, hoping to one day finish my MD, so it's rather hard to gather up money, what with having to spend thousands of dollars per year in books and tuition fees.. =/

The side stones are argyle pink diamonds, so a lot of the money went on them..

She's happy with it.. Isn't that what counts above having a bigger stone?

My parents offered to help -- But I had to decline.. The ring has to be from me, not from my parents..

Kissingfish, I know what you mean! I am also a pre-med who, at age 24, gave up my career a year ago to work part-time and go back as a post-bacc student to finish my prerequisites for medical school. I have a .50ct AGS000 stone from my hubby, originally engaged 3 years ago with a .39 ct of a lower quality. How I wish we had more money to spend on a diamond, but other expenses get in the way, such as tuition, books... and oh, that $1700 Kaplan review course for the MCAT I'm taking this May...

I hate the decrease in disposable income after I quit my decent-paying job, but we just keep thinking that it's all delayed gratificatiion. Someday I will have that 1.5ct RB on my finger! (Shooting for the 15th anniversary vow renewals

Good luck!

20 when I was engaged with a .27 ct princess cut (E, VVS2) solitaire. 21 when I upgraded it to a 1.07 princess (H, SI1) with .30 in baguette sidestones.

Plan on upgrading again in another 6 months or so...

The first ring was purchased in Perth, the second was in Missouri.

I am from Sunny New Mexico

I was 22 when I was engaged had a .75 carat diamond and then right before the wedding traded up to a 1.20 carat with trillions on the side of .25 for a total weight of 1.70.

I lost my ring after 7 years of marriage; never my intention since the diamond store had a trade up policy.

Now I just got my ring. Diamond is 1.50 with two trillions again of the same carat size. For a total of 2 cts.

Happy Holidays!!!

My center stone is 3.02. We were both 31 when we got engaged in August and I live in New York City.
