I tried a few more in natural light

That''s all for today. Thanks for looking!
It''s supposed to rain alllll week but if the sun ever peaks out again, I''ll try to get some nicer photos of it in sunlight.

These are so pretty MTG! So much better looking than on his site!

Thanks! Yeah, spinels and other stones that shift colors aren''t really done justice by just one photo on his website. But the nice thing about Barry''s site is that the stone is at least as lovely as the photo, if not more so! Really though, nothing but a video could do his cutting justice, the chunky flashes and brilliance just doesn''t come through in photos.

After seeing that last pic I want one too! It's such a pretty periwinkle blue.

It even kind of reminds me of a sapphire.

Thank Innerkitten, the subtle variations in color is very fun. It goes from a pure medium blue to a purple-violet and pretty much everything in between. I want to take it to work tomorrow to see how it fairs under that lighting since that''s where I spend most of my time. And of course, I''m hoping to see it in sun light since it''s been nothing but gross and rainy today!

What a nice stone!

Haha, so I was looking at Freke's many blue spinel rings to get possible setting ideas, and I think our spinels are probably quite close in color (though spinels are so dynamic in terms of color change nuances in various lighting).

Hehe, I might have Big Blue's little brother...

Beautiful stone, I love that blue in natural light.

Beautiful spinel MTG! I''m definitely a Barry spinel lover too! Gorgeous!

I took a few more to try to show the purple side more.

Very pretty! Oops never mind, I reread the post. 5.9mm is good for your tiny fingers. Whats the plan on setting it?

I really don't know. Hubby and I are house hunting so no big purchases. I might go with a simple LOGR or look around the local estate stores to see if I can find something suitable. There is a yellow gold antique style setting I thought looked promising, but I don't know if yellow is the way to go with this one. Alternatively, I might do a simple 4 prong claw setting in WG, or send it back to sally for one of her fun creations. Too many choices really, lol.

Deciding on a gold color is always so tough for me!

I had originally thought of putting in in rose gold to make a set with my tanzanite since it also is a strong blue in daylight, and changes to slightly violet tone when indoors. But the spinel''s color change is much more pronounced.

hehe, they don't quite match do they...

ETA: I don't know what's with the sudden grainy quality of the photos...sorry.

My spinel is a color changer like yours and it's in rose gold. I love it. It would probably look great in yellow gold too. I have another color changer cushion that color, and I ordered an 18K YG legacy LOGR for it, and it looked awesome in there. Unfortunatley, I had to return the setting because the non-upgraded diamonds were not that great, unlike my other SI diamond LOGR legacies.

Haha TL, don''t give me more options! I''m already confused enough!
I do like rose gold though....

AHHHHH. Maybe I''ll just use all 3 colors somehow, and make it into a hot mess :-P

So pretty! I like all the different faces it puts on!

It''s really pretty, and I love color changers! You could be like me and just put everything in silver (really a budget isste but makes the choice much easier!)...

Its gorgeous!!

Thanks packrat, jstat'' and indylady!
I''m very happy with it!

Sigh...more rain today.. I''m tempted to take this spinel to Florida with me so that I can see it in some sunlight! Yeesh, the weather has been just horrid this winter.

It''s a gorgeous blue under natural lighting, like a blue topaz!

Except that it is totally untreated.

It''s been nothing but rain here for the past week!

Well..the rain stopped, but so did the sunlight.. Ah well, took a shot anyways :-P

Beautiful stone! Is it sort of a color-changer?

In my opinion it would be a color changer. But I''m not sure if there are objective criteria for that term.

Psst....

BB on the left, LB on the right. In both pictures.

That''s a beautiful shot, I love that color. Both you and Freke are lucky ladies!
