You''re wondering who I am-machine or mannequin
With parts made in Japan, I am the modren man

I''ve got a secret I''ve been hiding under my skin
My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain I.B.M.
So if you see me acting strangely, don''t be surprised
I''m just a man who needed someone, and somewhere to hide
To keep me alive-just keep me alive
Somewhere to hide to keep me alive

Okay..luvmysparklies listed my favorite: Songs in the Key of Life (Stevie Wonder).

But I have to add (because I love him!) Bob Marley - Exodus.

And I also love Synchronicity by The Police.

More Than A Feeling is my #1, all-time favorite song for many reasons.

So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
as clear as the sun in the summer sky...

It's more than a feeling,
when I hear that old song they used to play
I begin dreaming
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

Hi IrishEyes!
I''ve heard that the US tour will start in March. They''re supposed to start with an arena tour, go to Europe for a few months, then come back to the US for a stadium tour. It''s kind of the same set up as the "All That You Can''t Leave Behind" tour. I can''t wait!!!!

Yeah, I''m really excited - they were supposed to announce the exact plan after new year''s, but delayed it because they are still working out a few details. I''m by Chicago, so I want to know when they will be in town. I''m going to Europe in May, so if they are playing in Chicago while I''m gone, I''m fully prepared to go to another city to see them play when I get back!!! Their new CD is pretty good - my fave is ''sometimes you can''t make it on your own''....

All of their cd''s are great!!

More nominations for the best:

Indigo Girls
Counting Crows

well, there really are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too many to list! but I think it is funny that one of my favourite albums, "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys, was recorded when my father was 2 years old!!!

Boston - Don't Look Back

I can see ... It took so long just to realize
I'm much too strong not to compromise.
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I'll turn it around...Oh, yes I will.

LOVE IT, Di!

Besides the ones I''ve already listed (Sex Pistols, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed), I''ll add some of my other faves:

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust, Scary Monsters - I love Low and Heroes and I can''t stop now I''ve started. Fortunately, I''ve seen Bowie in concert twice.

The Smiths and Morrissey - everything - great mood music. "I wear black on the outside because black is how I feel on the inside". So much angst. I''ve seen Morrissey once and I''m hanging out for him to return to Australia.

New Order and Joy Division - everything - Love Will Tear Us Apart Again has to be greatest single of all time! I''ve seen New Order too and hope they tour with their new album (coming soon).

Then there''s the Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM (I''m going to see them in April), U2 (hope to see them on this tour - love early U2), The Stranglers, Bob Marley, Prince, Nick Cave and the Badseeds, The Clash, The Buzzcocks, The Ramones, Blondie, Garbage, The Cure, Flaming Lips, Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, The Saints and I could keep going till the sun came up.

I am shocked and appalled that none have you have mentioned the greatest band of all time...
VAN HALEN!
I don''t care who is singing for them, with the exception of Garry Cherone (God, what were they thinking?!), they still ROCK!
I''ve got everything they have ever recorded but obviously Diver Down has a special place in my heart! :P

New order Substance is my all time favorite. This tape was given as a gift to me in HS and I still listen to it now in CD version at age 32

. . .this was the first band I saw in concert and it was the most invigorating day of my life. . .I drove all the way down to Portland just to see Bernard. . he was pretty cute back then
30.gif
Also Joy Division is also high up there on my top list as are the Smiths. Oh, and the other two cds I like a lot are NIN Broken and Nirvana Unplugged in NY.

I think I'm stuck in the 80s as I listen to an alternative/80s sort of station here. (but I dress normal though, just my music is 80s. . .no leg warmers or puffy hair for me. . .

Edited to add: Camellia and I pretty much like all the same bands!!!
