Big day tomorrow!

Well, I finally got a summer job (minimum wadge, but at least I''ll be working...)! I''m starting tomorrow!

Aaaand... J is going to meet with the jeweler for our setting!!! We had planned to do it last weekend, but it was my dad''s birthday on Saturday and they were closed on Sunday and for the national holiday on Monday.

Anyway, he''s going tomorrow!! He promised he would take tons of pics for me. I can''t wait, I''m literally bouncing around.

He asked pics of settings I''ve tried and/or love and I sent him those:

1- From the jeweler''s website catalog. I love the basket head, the marquise accents, and the matching band!!

2- From the jeweler''s website catalog. I love three stones, trellis settings, surprise diamonds and the YG detailing!

3- Picture from Signed Pieces. I tried one on today with a .50ct center stone (like we''re hoping to get) and .25ct half-eternity on the band... I just about died.

4- Buena Girl''s setting. I hope you don''t mind.

I absolulety love it, and I''ve been toying with the idea of sapphire sidestones or accents... I love the look or sapphires and diamonds together!

And finally...

5- My favorite plain solitaire setting!!

I also told him I want something thin (2.5 mm and less), feminine and delicate, and I like diamonds and/or sapphires sidestones or accents.

I can''t wait to see those pics!! And hear about the prices of course, since our budget is limited... But with some luck we should have a solid 1k to put towards the setting, so we should be fine.

Good news about the job! I know finding summer jobs can be a real pain. Some years I have spent more of the summer looking than I did working. I have a great summer job this year, but today I just had my first interview for articling positions next year. Seems like the job battle is never ending!

Oooh --- very pretty settings. They are all so delicate!!! I like the first setting and the one with the sapphires the most. There is something about pear side stones and a centre round that I love! Very classy!

I haven't been around much lately, so I may be asking a question you have already answered but --- how is the search going for the centre stone?

Mimikins - Finding summer jobs suck.

J will ask the jeweler what he can offer us for a centerstone. We''re hoping to get a quality .50ct for less that $1500 CAD. I''m on the hunt for an ideal cut, eyeclean SI1, H or I colour, preferably with med or strong fluor. If the jeweler can''t offer us that, we''ll most probably work with Diamond Exchange Toronto (www.diamondexchange.ca). They have gorgeous stones and their prices are right.

ARGH!! J had car troubles today and had to go straight home from work today and he can''t come visit me this weekend. I''m pretty bummed about that.

So... I decided to go visit him and we''ll go to the jewellers together tomorrow! See? Everything works out.

He even said that if we pick something out tomorrow we could make a payment! I''m so excited that things are moving along!

I should have an update for you late Sunday or Monday.

I''m snooping so I can''t say much, but... OMG!! We bought it this morning!! The ring from pic #1 is MINE with the most gorgeous excellent cut G-SI1 0.50ct centerstone in the world and two .10ct G-VS2 marquise sidestones in white gold!! I paid for the setting, it''ll be ready in a month. J will probably pick it up in late July because we busted our budget a little.

This is so surreal!! I can''t believe it!!

I''m back!!

I had the most perfect, amazing weekend... It started on Saturday morning with my amazing B&M ring buying experience!

We were both so happy and a little overwhelmed... We bought the most beautiful diamond ring in the world and we are getting engaged! It''s so surreal!

The entire weekend was gorgeous and sunny and we spent all our time outside. We fooled around washing his car on Saturday afternoon (we were both dripping wet!

) and went for a picnic in a park for dinner with his family (even his jerk of a father couldn''t ruin our joy) and took a lovely walk around the park. Today was an "open house" day for all the museums in Montreal, so we spent the day downtown visiting with his mother and sister.

Another good news is that I might be able to make up a room in his sister''s apartment living room for a term or two if I don''t find a place to stay near the university I''ll be attending in fall soon! Things are god well for me these days!

Firegoddess - I am floating on cloud 9... My grand-mother is visiting and here until tomorrow, so my joy couldn''t be more complete...

I wish I had to wait for it for only one whole month... I have a month to wait until it''s done, then another whole month before J goes and picks it up, then goodness knows how much time before he actually proposes and gives it to me... I''ll definitely need you and the other ladies to keep me sane and calm!!

We only got the e-ring for now, but the jeweler assured us that even if we go back in two years he''ll still be able to make it for us for the same price (665$) because he always keeps his designs and throws nothing away.

I just wanted to share with everyone how much I had a great day today... I told my mom about the ring we bought and we talked about diamonds and jewelry, and we even went through the wedding mag the jeweler gave me together! It was so much fun, and it was great to share that with my mom! She was really happy that I was open about it, and we talked about all sorts of things...

And now I have a new sparkly project! A small opal pendant for my mom! I''ll start a thread in the coloured gemstones forum for advice soon as I know nothing about opals, and I''m thrilled to be going back to Marcel André''s for this piece soon! I''m thinking about talking to my siblings about having it made for her for my parents''s 33rd anniversary on August 3rd, or her birthday in October.

Cute, Anchor! I called my mom about the diamond I *think* I''ll be the wearer of soon, too. It was so much fun to talk about things, and to try to describe what we''re planning on, and to think about being married, for REAL!! in October. Mom was giddy and silly right along with me. It was great!
