Hi everyone,

There''s a style of necklace I was thinking of getting and still need to check around locally to see if the style looks good on me. . .but, for fun yesterday I checked around online to see prices and so forth. For my budget, I expected to be purchasing white gold, but on Blue Nile, the necklace was found in my range made out platinum rather than white gold, and I''m pretty excited about this find

.

Has anyone purchased regular, non diamond, jewelry from their site and were you happy with the quality?

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I've received a few things from them, and for the most part I was pleased. I've ordered the following:

Sterling Silver Ovals Bracelet
This is the only item I wasn't thrilled with. Its pretty, however, a lot more delicate/petite than I would have thought from the picture. If it wasn't a gift, I probably would have returned it.

Sterling Silver Ball Bracelet
I bought this for my sister, and was very pleased. Its not as heavy or fine as the Tiffany one, but for $40 you can't beat it. For someone who is hard on jewelry, but still wants something nice, it's a good compromise.

Sterling Silver Triple-Heart Necklace
My husband bought me this necklace. I love it, I wear it all the time!

Hope this helps

Ooooh, the triple heart necklace is adorable. Hmmm. . .may get this one too. lol

Umm let me check. No I'm sure. Although Wink called me madame.

I was actually looking at Blue Nile for some presents for my nieces and a money clip for me. Anyone know where I can find a spring loaded one that snaps shut?

Don't catch your finger!

Platinum Necklace

This is the necklace. . .is it 10% off? I hope so! It has free shipping

but I am in the same state as blue nile, so looks like sales tax is collected

Okay, I'm never buying a diamond from them. lol

Michelle

I was looking at that too. That is going to look lovely. Very subtle but purrty.

Thanks, it's going to be reduced to a 15 1/2 " or so size. I'll need to measure to see. In a movie, a character had on a similar necklace and it was near chocker length and looked really cute so I decided I had to have one (had been considering for a while, but this seeing it shorter length won my heart over)!

Michelle there is a promotion right now that I think ends mid next week. Drop me a PM and I'll send you the code.

What's the movie, MC?

Very pretty! That will look fantastic in 15.5" length. That's my favorite length in a necklace, I love when it lays right on the collar bone. I find so many cute ones, but always seem to be 18", which looks very long on me...I must have a scrawny neck or something!!

Elegant, not scrawny neck!!

lol Are you petite build? This is me. . .I have one 18" that looks good with low cut sweaters and stuff

but all my other necklaces are 16" ish.

Sevens One - movie is The Barbarian Invasions.

Michelle

Always wanted to be petite, but no such luck! (Flashback to being taller than the boys in school...) I'm thin, but tall-ish, 5'9".

I think I like shorter necklaces for the visual, too. I swear the D-cups give off radar for pervs, so I like to keep my necklaces well above the goodies--no excuses for those with the "45 degree disease." You know, the men that refuse to look at your face, but rather 45 degrees lower at your breasts!! hee hee!

Hi:

I bought a pair of diamond stud earrings from Bluenile and am pretty happy with their merchandise.

Hope this helps.

45 degree disease! LOL

Hey Michelle, what about that beautiful bezel set diamond. Will you wear them together? Just curious....

Oh and did you get it yet?

hehehe - I wore my diamond pendant yesterday while looking for the bead necklace to try on. It sparkles like mad and it was hilarous walking into the mall stores and playing with their diamonds that were very yellow and included and comparing it with my stone
11.gif
It's fun being "bad." lol One shop had a .96 ideal cut that was semi pretty but had a HUGE crystal that took up an entire 1/4 of the stone! I had to hid my grim facination over the size of the inclusion and the fact that the sales woman was ignoring this part and saying the stone was top of the line. . .she was willing to part with it for only 2K! hahaha. . .

But, anyhow, i'll just wear one necklace at a time

Do you think this style is still in? I had planned to order it yesterday, but after going to four jewelry stores and finding none had this style available, I'm kind of discouraged. I'm afraid the style was a trend??? What do you think?

Maybe I should find another necklace from that site?

Okay, ordered the necklace. . .the 10% off coupon (thanks Noobie) was only good until tomorrow
2.gif
so I had to act fast. I'm so nervous even though the cost was only $132 w/tax (lol)! Hope it's cute. Most of the customers said it is very dainty so I may be able to wear it w/other necklaces. hmmmm. . .

Can't wait and I'll post a picture after I get it.

Michelle

I think you made a wise choice. don't worry about the trends that enslave the masses. Get what you like.

Geez, if I see another Tiffany silver dangle heart necklace.........

OK, that's it. I gotta stop coming here. That necklace looked nice and it was a good deal for platinum ... so I just ordered one. It arrives next week. Please post pictures Michelle. If I don't like it, I'll try to pawn it off on Sevens

Hey Noobie. I'm saying it again; your wife is one lucky gal. Geez.

Maybe we should have you cloned

Yes, Noobie should be cloned!

Possibly his wife hypnotized him or something by whispering in his ear while he was sleeping, "buy me loads of jewelry every week!" lol I need to try this on my husband while he's sleeping

Sounds like a good idea MC.

She actually told me to stop buying things. However, giving up a professional career to take care of a couple of little ones is far more than anything I could do. It's like two or three or more full time jobs.

The necklace will be from the six month old, who has been a little cranky lately. I'll let him hold it and give it to her one day soon when he's being a pain.

That's just so sweet, Noobie. So why doesn't my SO give me anything when my 18 month old is a pain in the butt?
confused.gif
Should I send my SO to you for training sessions?

This IS really sweet! Taking care of little ones is unbelievable hard/stressful/energy expending! It's so nice to see a husband who recongizes the sacrifice stay-at-home moms make.

How old are all your children? Mine are 3 3/4 and 2 (21 months apart), both boys. . .These have been the most challenging years of my life!
6.gif
The kids just started PT daycare/preschool so I could get a much needed break. This was my husband's gift to me after I started having a near nervous breakdown.
