I''m waiting for PS2 to be up first so I don''t have to post pictures twice.

Ahh...I''ve actually been wondering about that. Since it''s been delayed again, does the old cut off date still count? I figured they''d make a new one when they get ready to switch over again. No?

I hope they’ll have a new cut off date as there were many informative threads in the meantime. I guess I could email/PM the mods and ask.

MTG, I too thought that was a diamond when I saw the pic in the catch all thread!

Can''t wait to see your chryso Chrono! Is it green or yellow?

Add the fact that it is round with a very diamond-ish cut, I know it’s very sparkly in person. Packrat, my new chrysoberyl is yellowish green.

Well it came. No real sunlight out at the moment though, sorry.
I''m actually a little bit on the fence with this one, I think I''ll sleep on it...

I like the color outdoors a lot, but it gets a little more yellow inside. But it''s still the greenest Mali I''ve seen.

I like the sparkles! But I can see the inclusions...

So yeah, thinking on it...

It''s pretty, but definitely looking more yellow than green in your photos.

I don''t know if you remember my mali garnet ring, Link, but it really goes green outside. Setting the stone allowed it to come to life and really be enjoyed. I think your round mali is just gorgeous. It''s a stone that really sparkles when you are out and about.

oh a green gold halooooooooo......that sounds lovely! I will live through you on this project MTG!!

Hi MTG! it is sparkly, but personally the inclusion and the rather pale color does not appeal to me, not to mention the rather small size:)

Funny thing, at 6.3mm, it would be larger than almost every stone I own, so it''s definitely not small to me! I haven''t developed the same taste for size in colored stones that I have in diamonds. Anyway, I''d probably be on the fence too, more because of the inclusions than anything else. I like the pale green color and the sparkle, but visible inclusions are almost always a dealbreaker for me.

Yeah, it''s a fine size. I actually think my sweet spot is 6-7mm. My 7.5mm garnet feels too big to me still!

I knew it wasn''t mint when buying it (I''ve never heard of a mint mali that I know of), I just wanted a "green" mali.

Still thinking..

I think the color is lacking in saturation and tone quite a bit, but do you think the cutting makes up for it in scintillation and sparkle? It's hart to tell the brilliance from a static photo. It also looks pretty included, so it doesn't even have clarity going for it.

If it were my gem, it would go back the next day, but it's up to you.

I do really like it, but my policy on the fence is to make a return. I find that its in my hands, its easy to get attached even though I''m on the fence. Later down the road, I often find that I wish I''d returned the stones and kept those funds to use on a stone I''m wholeheartedly obsessed with.

I think that''s great advice. :)

Although I must admit there are some gems that I was originally on the fence about and grew to really love.

But yeah..I think for the price I"ll probably be sending this one back.. :/

My Mali is pretty darn green, looks a lot like a peridot. I got it at D&J Rare Gems. I''m sure they have more...

AJS has a lot of greeny Malis. I just wish they didn''t cut so many shallow ovals.

FYI: When buying a Mali, make sure they don''t shift to brown, as many tend to do.

This is a stone with character, but you have to be happy with it.

Lori

It looks really pale and almost colourless. Unless you plan to bezel it in green gold to bring out the colour, it is something I would return. The kicker is that it isn’t a clean stone either. How obvious are the inclusions? What sort of lighting will make them stand out?
