we paid $6723 for my diamond in April last year (marked down from ~7900 after we told him it was out of our price range). It is the same cut, carat weight, color, and clarity of this one...which is 11k!!!

yep...if we were shopping today it would be a very different diamond! I'm glad it worked out

The crazy diamond price is making me very sad.

Althought I got a few of stones in 2007 ( one 1.38 E VS1 and 5 small one ), they are now all over 50% more.
And got 3 more to make my 5-stone ring last year -- also ~30-40% up.
But nothing could make up what I am going to pay for a large diamond after price skyrocking.
Am I being silly to be on market now and hunt for a large one? I am kicking myself hard not to work on my e-ring upgrade sooner.

Good for you all who have got what you wanted earlier. Will this market cool off soon? I wish ....

Well this is more recent lucky buy but we just bought a WF ACA just before the recent price increases of last week.. It increased by $400 whilst we had it on reserve but they honored our reserve price thank god...
