You know all those people that tell you "you''ll never have another ''first'' kiss" or "you''ll never go out on a first date again" once you''re married?

well, I just found another thing I won''t have to do again and it made me smile...

I just bought FI''s birthday card (it''s today!) and I had to bypass all the "for my husband" cards... but next year we''ll be married and I can pick one if I want to!
36.gif
It was so fun to realize that! I knew we were inside a year, but it really hit me that I''m getting married when I thought about buying his card NEXT year. NEXT birthday, he''ll be my HUSBAND!!!

What little thing makes you smile and realize that "yes, you''re getting married!!!" You know, besides the bling and the plans.

Honesty, the quote highlighted above makes me smile. I hated dating. In fact, I never really did it since I was in some long distance relationships. My hubby was supposed to be a one or two night stand at best (neither of us are normally that loosey goosey, but hey, we were traveling...what can I say.)
9.gif

When my DH introduced me as his wife for the first time it was such a great feeling. I know we haven''t been married that long but it still makes my heart skip.

I hated dating too! I won''t miss that at all! My FI was my first online date and I felt very lucky to not have to go out on anymore essentially blind dates!

Yay! I thought this was going to be a thread about how to smile for pictures. Haha. I HATED dating too. FI and I started dating online. We''d met in person once, but we were LD so we talked online and on the phone for about a month or so before we saw eachother again. My friends teased me for having an online relationship, but I knew FI was something special from the beginning.

Hah! I hated dating too... My brother introduced me to my FI. And I''m eternally grrateful for that!

HEE! For me it was during our mini-moon ... when I overheard Sweetie talking to the check-in desk people ... "My wife & I ..." blah blah blah ... I have NO IDEA what came after because I was WOOZY!
9.gif
It''s so funny ... you KNOW it''s coming ... you go through all the motions ... we even danced our first dance to "She''s No Lady (She''s My Wife)" ... but the first time I heard HIM say it, to someone ELSE ... I about fainted.

Hey Robbie,
I met my FI online as well! And all thanks to my girlfriend who convinced me to hop on just to see that there were single men my age out there!!! Three years later here we are.
So thank god for the Internet

My "bridal smile" is one of the quotes that came out of our discussion around reasons for "getting the piece of paper" and why it is important to us versus just living together and committing to each other privately.

"Because we want to be each other''s family."

Every time I think about being a wife, it''s so heartwarming to know that he will be my family. officially. for real.

I''m big on celebrating little silly things. This Friday will be the "three months until we''re married" countdown, and I won''t get to see him since I''m in Cali and we''ll miss this weekend seeing one another. I''m thinking of having something silly sent to his work *the middle schoolers love to tease him about this stuff* in place of me being there. Anyway, the best thing for the YAY factor that we''ll be married soon is when I think about every celebration, birthday, anniversary of every silly thing we can think of, every holiday, we''ll be together, instead of separated. It makes me smile and thank God for the gift of living life with this man.

Yes, won''t it be fun to buy *husband* cards for holidays, birthdays, and just because? eeek!! Fun times!

Robbie, I thought we''d be finding pictures of Miss Sum, too! Smiling it up! Haha.

Hearing him call me his fiance makes me all smiles
9.gif
I can''t wait to hear him call me his wife! And just planning our life together, going to look at apartments, talking about getting a family cell phone plan
3.gif
, it all makes me giddy!

Here's another one for hearing DH refer to you as his WIFE the first (couple) of times! Our case was kinda funny as we honeymooned in Mexico, and he was practicing how to say wife in spanish during our travels in (esposa).

I heard him at the bar ordering a margarita for me and he kinda butchered the word. But it was so cute- it made my heart skip, and I said to myself "I'm married!"

Yesterday when I went to get my chest xray FI came with me they asked me if If I was married or single at the check in. I said engaged. FI teased me about it in the car. He was like "you know that''s not an official status." Haha. They can put whatever they want on their forms, but I refuse to say I''m single anymore.

We''re in the process of moving into a townhome from our 1 bedroom apartment. I moved into FI''s 1 bedroom at the end of June and although it''s very cozy, this townhouse really feels like home and it makes me smile thinking about it. This is where we''ll be until we''re ready to purchase a house, and I''m sooo excited about it. I can''t wait to be totally moved in and unpacked. We''re planning on having a house warming party. I''ve lived lots of places, but this is the only place I ever thought to have a house warming party :).

We just got back from purchasing our first washer and dryer. I''m super excited about this too. The sales woman was asking about our wedding plans. :)

Deco isn''t it great?!? I still feel that way. Also I LOVE, love, love seeing his WB on his finger. Silly I know. Maybe because he wears no jewelry except that. It just symbolizes everything
2.gif
Sometimes I look just to make sure it is still there.

Oh I LOVE the bday card one... I hadn''t thought of that yet!! Yay for more selection!!
2.gif

Here''s one... I have attended SO MANY weddings in the past few years as a girlfriend... well we currently have 10 weddings lined up for next summer, almost all after ours... I can''t WAIT to attend them all as a wife instead!!

Another one that made me smile... we were ordering bridesmaids dresses for my friend''s wedding next July, and the salesperson was writing down all our names. I started to tell her mine, then realized I''d have a different last name by the time we were picking up the dresses! It was definitely a fun feeling.
1.gif

Oh, everybody has such great responses! Now I can''t wait to see his ring on his finger or hear him call me his wife!

and Sunkist... yay for family cell phone plans!!! We actually signed up for one early this year and that was kind of the moment I knew exactly what his intentions were. Silly, but true! My mom said the same thing. And it IS cheaper!

Robbie - I love that you said "engaged" as your status! The last time I had to answer that question I said "uhh....single" but then when they asked me who my emergency contact was I made sure to emphasize my FIANCE. Felt good!

I''ve been engaged 10 months and I still get all giddy when he calls me his fiancee! And one time we were at a museum where he could get people in free with his corporate ID but the guard said "only family" and I kicked him and was like "I''M FAMILY" so he said I was his wife and even though it wasn''t true yet, it made me all excited to think soon he''ll be saying that and it WILL be true!

And just yesterday a coworker sent me 2 emails over a 20 minute period, neither of which I got, so we were trying to figure out what was wrong with my email. I asked if he was sure he sent them to my address, and he said "You''re still Firstname Maidenname, right?"
9.gif
And yes, I am, but he had to ask b/c he knew I got engaged a while ago and thought maybe I wasn''t getting email b/c my name had changed! Hehehehe.
9.gif

Also, we just celebrated our last "dating anniversary" EVER since next anniversary we''ll be married and have THAT one to celebrate!!! That was a very exciting realization too!
9.gif

Cute thread!!
21.gif

I had a dr. appt yesterday, and my PCP was so cute because she was excited that she got to change my status from single to married in the computer -- haha! That was the first time I''ve been "married" in a checkbox so it was pretty cool
1.gif

And Tacori, I''m with you on loving seeing the WB on his finger -- that makes me smile every time I see it! Esp. because I know that he loves it so much!!

Albicocca, I made Paul promise that we can still celebrate ALL the anniversaries. Of course, with time, we may forget a few, but I still like the idea of the day we met always being a special reason to celebrate, along with the day he asked me to be his girl, to be his wife, AND the day we came together, forever. He used to think it was silly, but now he enjoys it himself and even starts countdowns for them!

Robbie, when I went to the Dr. to get on the pill, I made my own new little box under status and wrote *engaged* then checked it with a smiley face. The Dr. got a kick out of that. She said "status" ought to come with that as an option. I totally agree!!

Haha that''s great! In response to Sum getting the cell plan, sadly we won''t be on the same cell plan for at least a few months after we''re married. I''m on one with my parents that doesn''t end until Dec 07 and we''re getting married Sept 07. I can''t remember when FI''s ends, but he''s on one with some friends. We don''t even have the same carrier. I''m not looking forward to getting a plan together actually. It will be nice to have it, but the last time I signed up for a plan it was such a pain. We were in the store for hours and the guy ended up messing it up. Bad experience.

I had a thrilling little moment when our stationery arrived (we''re using it for thank-you notes, but they''re blank inside, so we can use them for general correspondance.)

They are the first thing I''ve seen that have "Mr. and Mrs. Futurelastname" on them, and my heart went all pitter-pat.

Of course, FI wanted to know why we couldn''t use them for writing thank you notes this week. He''s such a guy.

And I realized, (and was teasing FI) that I will never have to be his "and guest" again. We were dating for a year and a half...we went to 3 weddings and I was always the "and guest."

AND, I have a tricky last name...it''s tough for my students to pronounce and spell...they can''t wait until I''m Mrs. Futurelastnamethatiseasytosay

They''re keeping a countdown of how many more days they can call me "Miss Hardlastname"

Tacori, I still get a real kick out of hearing my husband introduce me as his wife - and we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in June! You''d think I''d be used to it by now, wouldn''t you
19.gif

Robbie - When you get ready for the new plan, you can do a lot of your shopping online now. Most cell companies let you compare plans and phones online without dealing with somebody in the store. I personally hate cell phone stores so I''ve always done my phone plan shopping online. FI and I had the same carrier so we were able to just combine our accounts into one, but we had to do it over the phone since we were essentially closing one account, transferring a number, etc.

The only problem we had with the phone is that since the account is in my name, caller id was showing up with my name when he called people and he didn''t like that. I had the company change it so that his says "wireless caller" instead. He complained about "losing his identity" for a minute until I reminded him that our home phone was in HIS name. Turnabout is fair play, eh? I''ve kind of had fun comparing the bill each month because he makes a ton more calls than I do, but we still use about the same number of minutes because his calls are really short. guys.

glitter, I think that is really sweet. I am glad to know it won''t wear off. It is such a great feeling!

Sum, DH and I have been on a family share plan for years (when we first moved to NC) You are right, it is cheaper. Cingular adds a line for $9.99. Just have to watch those minutes.
19.gif

I agree, getting invites addressed to Mr and Mrs... or going to a friend''s wedding as DH &DW is really cool.
9.gif

Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but what does DH and DW stand for? Dear Husband and Dear Wife? That''s what i''ve been saying in my head when I read it, but I''d like to know if that''s what it really means.

Yeah, some people say darling instead of dear but in my hear it is always dear.

It is just easier than always writing our husband.

what a fun thread!

robbie *I* like to think it means ''Dear Husband'' but I think the original was for ''Darling Husband''?? Either way, I don''t think it matters much!!

It is funny about the ''status'' box on forms... I have been quite happily checking the ''married'' box now for a few months now and it hasn''t got old yet! haha.

DH loves to refer to me as his wife.. he gets such a kick out of it. Every person we run into he always has to introduce me. I am still not used to it, it''s still very surreal...

I''m looking forward to the holiday season, bc this year we will be celebrating together for the first time as a new family!!! And that means.... our own Christmas tree!! I know it''s silly but this really has me super excited...
