Burmese South Sea Pearls

Love, love and love!

Me too! I show these photos to friends who know NOTHING about pearls and they all gravitate towards this colour!

I persuaded my gal pals that came to visit and drink the last weekend away to get this pair of cream Burmese SSPs! About 12mm. To be fixed with that sort of 18k gold backings.

Not Burmese, but I picked up these 2 off round golden SSP strands with minor bites at the Bangkok Gem Fair. I love the gold. I'm sending them in to be tested this week just to be sure they are natural and undyed. The vendor says they are from the Philippines. I showed another exhibitor and she thinks Indonesian. Whichever, I like the colour, size, acceptable shape and the price I paid.

They look uber gold directly under the LED lamp in the hotel or else it's my phone cam reacting oversaturatedly :).

Next pearl project with an 18k Italian YG chain.

Happy with the results of the tin cup SSP necklace :)

Could be shorter but I'm happy with this unexpected longer length and can always have another shorter made down the line.

Local labour and 18k gold charge to connect the pearls to the chain is slightly over us$200.

I've started a thread on Coloured Stones to document my finds in Myanmar, where I still be based for a few years.

Thought I should do one for these lovely South Sea Pearls purchased here too :)
Starting with this light creamy gold set. I got the 9mm-10mm pair of earrings first, before having the 12mm-13mm pearl pendant made. Not exactly matching but close enough for me.20170403_004620-1.jpg
oh wow really beautiful color.

They are gorgeous!!!

They look gorgeous 8-):kiss2:

2020's acquisition: Not Burmese, probably Australian white SSP pair with rosy pink overtones! Slightly over 12mm.

Will give some thought to setting them, likely with diamond jackets.
