Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Congrats Blushing!

Since Allie posted hers I'll post mine...30 weeks exactly-please excuse the bags and circles under my eyes!

HH 30 weeks.jpg

Blushing, I'm so honored that you're naming your baby pupp! Congrats on entering the third trimester!!

HH, holy belly! No denying you're preggo now. Cute outfit too...it's been so long since I've worn anything cute.

Cara, :wavey:. I can't wait to see your nursery!

Allie, shame on folks who make stupid comments. You look great!

Noel, I hope you and DH are reunited soon!

As for me, I have a doctor's appointment tonight. I'm hoping they tell me I'm 10cm dilated and ready to push! :naughty: A girl can dream, right?

Wishful thinking Pupp! I have a really hard time imagining anything in that area being 10 cm...that's like the diameter of a CD!However, I learned last night in class that it's only 10cm because the baby's head is pressing on it and forcing it to stretch. That made a lot more sense.

Quick update - doctor said I'm 4-5cm!!! :appl: She didn't mention effacement but I was 70% over two weeks ago. She's pretty confident it'll be within the week but couldn't say much else. She did say that being dilated so much before labor *could* mean it'll be on the quick side. Oh, quick would be so lovely!!!

Holy Cow, Pupp! That's quite a way to start! I can't imagine that you'd have a long labor after already being dilated and effaced so much.

Pupp - congrats on that fab dilating cervix of yours!! :appl: :appl: :appl: Wouldn't a quick, soon labor be nice?! :) Not long now!!

HH, love the belly!! I think you're starting to pop out a bit more now...like Pupp said, no denying you're preggo now!! Super cute BFP pic.

Blushing - congrats on the 3rd tri!! :appl: Soooo exciting! I hope you have fun at your shower, too! I think I have a guess for what your girl name might be....I'm guessing Lanie :)

Allie, you look fantastic!! Whoever said that is silly. You do not look like a whale, nor do you look like you're carrying twins! You look just right! :)

Geri, so glad to see you over here! HUGE congrats on your NT scan...wasn't that fun?! I so much enjoyed that nice long look at the baby jumping around in there when we had ours. Looks like it's for real this time! And I am thrilled for you.

Cara, sorry your class was so crappy, but I'm glad you found something useful to do with your time!! :)

SS, so glad to hear that Lily is doing well!! I've been thinking about you guys and hoping that the SVT has settled down. I hope it stays that way.

Snlee, good to hear from you! I will keep my fingers crossed for you for no further progression. It's great that you're getting the steroids in and everything...a dear friend of mine had her baby at 25 weeks, and thanks to the fact that she was in the hospital for a couple weeks before delivery and got her steroids in, he did sooooo well. He's home now, not on oxygen or anything. :) I will pray that you don't have to travel down the premie/NICU road....stay in there and bake, baby!!! Remember, every day that passes that you keep the baby inside is a success!! :)

Noel, I'm waving toward Singapore!!! Hehe. Hope you're enjoying your time there. You're almost 20 weeks....WOW!!

Lanie, I've been starting to get the round ligament pains too...especially if I cough or sneeze too hard, or change positions too quickly. It DEFINITELY hurts....doubles me over for several seconds!! I have had some really strange dreams, for sure. I had a bad dream the other night, I was soooo angry in it, but I can't remember what it was about now, but it was one of those that i can remember feeling soooo relieved when I realized it was only a dream!!

----------------------------------------------------------

Well ladies, I've got news. Got my results for the NT scan and the gender test.....Trisomy 21 risk went from 1:788 before testing to 1:>10,000, and trisomy 13/18 risk went from 1:1422 before testing to 1:>10,000 as well!! And.....drumroll please......

We are on TEAM PINK!!! :appl:  :appl:

We are beyond excited...DH was hoping for a girl. I must admit that I think I was hoping for a girl too. Of course we would have been thrilled with a healthy baby of either sex, but we are just so excited. :) It's funny, I've thought it was a girl the whole time....from very early on. Mother's intuition, I guess? Also means that the Chinese Gender Predictor was correct for us!!

congrats HOU on a girl!

pupp..wow!! i can't believe you are 4-5cm and 70%+ and not in labor! our hospital told us they admit people after like 3-4cm...not sure about effacement but it sounds like it'll be soon. dust for a quick and painless labor and delivery.

ss...glad to hear you guys are doing well!!!

re: all the classes, it was funny because i learned/retained a fair amt of 'information' but it doesn't actually make sense and become applicable until you have the baby. i re-read a lot of what i read before, but after the babe came and i was like..AHHH I GET THIS NOW on so many things.

Hey, mamas!!!

Re: Pregnant dreams. OMG, mine are so crazy. Let's see... I've had a threesome with my DH and an unknown woman, I've looked in the mirror to see one boob ginormous (like, belly-button length) and one virtually non-existant - and I thought it was pretty interesting. I've cursed my supervisor out for cutting in front of me at a candy store counter. I gave birth to what looked like a 2-year-old boy. So yeah, the dreams are out there!

Noel - Hi from 9500 miles away!! I just looked it up :rodent: I hope your trip passes quickly, and you can see your DH soon! Oh, and you are NOT humongous!! YOu look great!!

Snlee - Wow. Hang in there. Tell that babe you're an oven, not a microwave!! Lots of good vibes your way... I'll be praying for you guys!

Shiny - Glad to hear the SVT is settling down, and the meds are doing their job.

Cara - Congrats on 32 weeks!! Gosh, I haven't even started the nursery yet!! Please feel free to post pics when you're done!!

GERI!!!! Welcome!! Yay for a good scan!! How's pregnancy been treating you??

HH - Lookin good and Pregnant! Hmm good question about CPR. I'll have to register DH for a class (I'm getting certified this month for work).

Allie - beautiful belly!! Definitely NOT a whale.

Blushing - Congrats on the 3rd tri! Have fun at your shower!! Are you naming your little girl SomethingShiny??? haha. So exciting to hear you have names! 12 more weeks!!

Pupp!! Wow, you're so close!!! Fingers crossed for a FAST easy labor!!!

HMG! Congrats on team pink!! Awesome, too, that you had that feeling.... I have NO clue one way or the other. Why the heck didn't I get one of these Jack and Jill tests?? Ah, well... 6 more days!

Tao!! Congrats! I heard you were a jerkstore. hehe

So sorry if I've missed anyone!! Lanie, Laila, LV, Bliss - Hope all is well with you ladies!!

Had my belly check and monthly appt Wednesday. Everything's A-OK. I finally gained some weight. I was the same weight for every appt up until this one, and I've gained 8 lbs in a month! HB was 154. Movement's getting more frequent - Baby seems to be 'up' between 10pm and midnight. No biggie, I work night shift anyway.
My brother's funny - he doesn't want to find out the sex. "It should be a surprise", he tells me... He's even gonna de-friend me on FB. lol...

19w6d

yay! this work week is finished. one more week and I can go back to my Baby's Daddy.

HOU - whoo hoo for joining me on Team Pink! to be honest, from your NT scan, I thought I saw 3 lines, but I'm not an u/s technician, so what the heck do I know.

Blushing - so is your daughter's name going to be HOUMedGal or Hudson_Hawk or Blushing_B? ;) excited to find out what it's going to be.

geri - so happy to see you here! and fantastic news about your NT scan results.

Allie - someone asked me today if I'm having twins! but then again, seeing pic below, I don't blame him.

Lynnie - how sweet of you to see look up how far away I am. but gosh, 9500 miles is FAR!

and here is my BPF, one day short of 20 weeks.

HouMed I've got a medical question for you. I had my glucose test at 27 weeks and passed. They actually said my blood sugar was pretty low. I also have low bp as a rule and have for years. This morning I had a scary incident on the way to work. I usually get my caffeinated bevvie of choice-an iced tea (black)- and a bagel at DD before I leave town to head to work (30 minute drive on a major interstate). I was running late so I skipped it this morning. About halfway up to work I was doing about 80 in the left lane and all of a sudden I started feeling woozy and a little light headed. Not dizzy or blacking out per-say, but just off and my heart started pounding a bit. My car started swerving a bit too. So I high-tailed it over to the far right and grabbed a life saver out of my purse (it was the only sugar I had on hand). I made a point to slow down (to dangerous to stop on the side of the road at this time of day) and sort of self-monitor myself to see if the issue was getting worse and it didn't so I kept going and went to the nearest place I could get food to get something to eat.

I've never really looked up what low blood sugar actually was until this morning, but everything I'm reading says it's related to diabetes, which I know I don't have based on my 1 hr test. The episode didn't feel like a low BP blackout either, but I definitely felt there was the potential to faint and had to make a conscious effort to keep my eyes open and stay engaged with what I was doing. I'm also not one to call my doc for every little ache and pain so I didn't, figuring it was low bs or bp, but should I? Do you think I need to have them re-run the GD test?

ETA: And congrats on team PINK!!!!! So happy for you.

Pupp-Holy crap woman! How has that kid not fallen out at this point? 4-5 cm???? I'd be telling the hospital to admit me!

Houie - Just popping in to say CONGRATULATIONS on team Pink! How exciting for you and DH. I'm also thrilled to hear that great test results!

Yeah for healthy, adorable little girls :appl:

HMG, YAY!! Congrats on TEAM PINK!!! SQUEEEEEEEEE! How awesome that you know already!?! I've never heard anything about the Jack & Jill test before. If my office offers it, they certainly don't advertise it!

HH, Your experience this morning sounds very, very scary! I hope you are able to get in touch with your dr's office this morning. Maybe a further test is in order? I have no idea, really, but that was even scary for me to read, let alone for you to experience it. Thank goodness for lifesavers, right? Maybe keep some granola bars in your purse until this gets figured out.

Noel, You look great! Jealous of Singapore, though I would miss home too! Are you eating lots of good food there? I've read about the "food courts" (are they in parking garages, or am I remmebering that wrong?) with many different vendor stations. YUM!

Me-centric, So, I am 16 wks, 5 days. I haven't felt the kid moving yet. Should I have? When did you all start to feel movements? I'll admit, I am suddenly worried. Last dr's appointment was 2 weeks ago, heart rate was fine. Next appointment is 2 weeks from now, and then the following day is an ultrasound. I wish the dr's apptmt was next week just so they could hear the heartbeat. This really all hit me last night and is carrying through to this morning. Everything must be fine, I just wish I would feel something.

Thanks LV, that's a really good idea.

I didn't start feeling Aidan until between 18 and 20 weeks. I've got an anterior placenta so there is a bit of extra cushion there. I started feeling movement really low below the belly button.

just popping in for a quick me-centric post.

Your PS dust worked! :appl:

Nolan arrived at 1:58am today after FOUR hours of labor. I wouldn't exactly describe it as easy but who can complain with such a short labor?

He was 6lbs 9oz...so much for the slightly big prediction from the OB! He's so stinking cute!

I promise to check back in and respond to all of the great news and pics on the thread today.

Thank you, HH. I think this may just be another sign of my impatience more than anything else. :twirl: Just waiting to actually feel pregnant, I guess.

Wow, Puppmom!!!! That was quick, wasn't it? Well, it sure seemed quick from my perspective!!

:appl: :appl: CONGRATULATIONS!!! :appl: :appl:

Welcome Nolan!!!! Can't wait to see his pic!!

Pupp-Good god woman! 4 hours is fantastic! I hope you're feeling well, can't wait to see pics of Nolan!

Congratulations Pupp!!!! Welcome little Nolan!

I didn't start feeling Charlie until the 18th week but after that I felt him every day. It is hard to believe that I have been feeling his little kicks for 10 weeks.

huge congrats to you and your family pup!!!! :appl:

Yay Pupp!!!! You must be so excited! Can't wait to see pictures!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

HOU -- Yay for team pink! Now you can start thinking of names, and doing the nursery, etc! Such a great feeling! I had a feeling mine was a boy from the getgo as well...it's weird isn't it? Has Bobo told you anything about classes? I have my 20 week appt with her (normally gender scan!) on Wed, and I'll ask her, but I don't want her to say "You haven't signed up yet? They are all full!" And yes, the RLP is bad sometimes...you said it right (for me at least) when you said it doubled you over for a few seconds. ETA: More importantly, great results from the NT scan! What a relief!!!

Lynnie -- good job on the weight gain! I know that sounds weird to say, but it's necessary, so yay for you!

HH -- that is scary! I've had things like that pre pregnancy, but never driving. Good thing you had some sugar on hand. By the way, nice pic! I love the paint color in your room! Haha!

LV -- I felt flutters that felt like popcorn popping pretty early on (15 or 16 weeks) but didn't realize it until they got more frequent. I'm on another forum and some are posting on there that they still aren't feeling anything at 20 weeks, so don't worry! Your baby is just fine in there...just a little quiet!

Noel -- cute pic too! You have popped since last week (or was it week before)? Anyhoo, I bet your hubs is excited to have you home!

As for me, I'm attaching my belly pic. I'm trying to wear the same thing every week so I can really tell if I've popped or not. And it looks EXACTLY the same as it did 2 weeks before, so guess not. I'm at 19w in the picture. I threw up yesterday AGAIN, which made me cry and depressed. I can't believe I'm still getting sick, albeit every once in awhile. I have an appt with my OB on Wednesday where they normally do the anatomy scan, and so I'll get an ultrasound!!! So excited!!! He's moving around a lot, but DH still can't feel it from the outside. I'm off to pick up paint samples for the nursery!!! :appl:

Wow, Pupp!!! When I said "wouldn't a quick, soon labor be nice?!" in my last post, I had no clue you were already in labor!! hehehehe! I love it!! Welcome baby Nolan!! I can't wait to see pics of your little man!!!! :appl:  :appl:

HH, that sounds very scary! My thought is that it was probably a hypoglycemic episode, but I don't think it means you're developing diabetes, and I don't think they need to repeat your GD test (but definitely bring this up with your Dr and see what he/she says). RE: what you have read about hypoglycemia being related to diabetes, here's the deal: when hypoglycemic episodes occur in diabetics, it's almost always due to too much insulin in combination with not enough food (for example, a diabetic person has a stomach bug and isn't eating much at all that day due to discomfort, but continues to give him/herself their full doses of insulin, resulting in a drop in blood sugar). Diabetics who DON'T take insulin are way more likely to have blood sugars that are too high than they are to have blood sugars that are too low. So in your case, as a woman who passed her GD test and is not taking insulin, I feel confident saying that what you had was a pregnancy-related hypoglycemic episode, which is very common. Best way to treat/prevent these (as you already know) is frequent small meals/snacks to keep your blood sugar steady. I have trouble with hypoglycemia too, and I've found that making sure all of my snacks include some healthy carbs (fruit, whole grains) and a good bit of PROTEIN (most important) keeps my blood sugar the steadiest. I have pretty much stopped eating big meals, I just eat balanced small meals/snacks about 6 or 7 times a day, and I have felt SO much better doing this.

I hope you feel better...sorry it was such bad timing! No one wants to pass out on the interstate!!

Congratulations Pupp :appl: :appl: :appl:

Houmed-welcome to team pink! I think girls are the bestest :Up_to_something:

HOU, congrats on TEAM PINK!

Noel, you look great! Love your bump.

pupp, wow! Welcome little Nolan!!!!! Congrats! Guess he wanted to be a July baby, huh? :))

LV, I too have an anterior placenta so I didn't really start feeling kicks until 20 weeks. I felt flutters at 16, 17 and 18w though, but only like once each week.

Lanie, so cute!

Congrats Puppmom! Way to go on the speedy and stealth labor - welcome Nolan!! Now the real fun begins :)

Congrats Hou on the team pink results, how fabulous!

HH, thanks for the shout-out! I am chugging along, some days better than others! Last two nights not so good on the sleeping front (w/ stressed out dreams - like trying over and over to get this little mechanical doo-hickey to work that I'd been working with during the day, or futiley trying to micromanage my somewhat resistent student into working faster, also something stressing me out during the day), and I've been having tinges of nausea especially if I don't eat when the pregnancy-puppeteer says to, but overall doing okay. I started taking prilosec and my heartburn has been much better (knock on wood) and I've been going for short walks everyday so... I'll take it. Anyway, I'm no doc but your scary thing sounded a bit like low blood sugar, which for me at least can come fairly quick and be pretty strong, esp. if I ignore the early warning signs :) I still occasionally get caught out without a granola bar or something and it can be rough! How are you doing otherwise?

Speaking of the need to eat, I was trying to slow the weight gain for the last few months in hopefulness of staying under certain recommended levels, but the weight gain seems to be accelerating rather than leveling off. What's up with that?!? Sigh... more work for later, I suppose.

Geri congrats on the crossover!

Lanie, you look great!

As do you Allie, boo on people asking twin questions of you :)

And you too HH, also looking good there! Has Aiden been roiling at night for you? My baby boy no name hasn't exactly woken me up, but sometimes woln't settle and makes it harder to get to sleep. I've asked his father to speak to him about this but it hasn't gotten through much yet.

Blushing, how exciting the stealth name change and the clue! Now I will be wondering whose screen name might make a live appearance? Is it Hudson for a boy? Or Noel for a girl? Maybe we need a poll among the peanuts :)

LV, I think I didn't feel the LO for sure until 18ish weeks. Flutters then. And not consistently every day for another month or more (by then they were nudges or something). So no worries.

Hmm, I was thinking of taking pictures of the nursery in its current state... completely empty! Blank slate, and under two months to go! I don't know that I am a paragon of preparedness on this front. But I am looking forward to getting things in there, esp. the furniture! Then we can start unpacking our duffel of baby stuff and see where we are at.

Thanks HOU! I know it's not really kosher to give med advice to non-patients, so I really appreciate you giving me your thoughts on the subject. I guess I never realized how important that bagel and cream cheese was every morning!

Cara, I'm having the same issue with weight. After my appointment at 30 weeks I decided I needed to try and curb the gain so I made sure I was eating what I knew was my maintenance calorie budget pre-preg. Unfortunately when I went in for my weigh in earlier this week I discovered that I'd put on 4 lbs in 2 weeks! So I don't know what the deal is. I'm definitely eating more carbs than I normally do, but that's really all that appeals to me these days. I suppose some of it could be water retention, I've been drinking water like a fish and not had any swelling or obvious bloat, but salt is definitely my friend these days. While I know I could do with more protein and veggies, the weight gain has been a very common factor for me throughout my preg regardless of what I was eating (even in the 1st tri when I was being very careful about it). I think my pregnant body just packs it on, so hopefully once things settle down after the fact I'll be able to lose it. I do know that while I'm the heaviest I've ever been right now, it's not far from my pre-preg heaviest (180) and I went from that to 150 in a year without dieting or major exercise and then from 150 to 130 in a year with eating healthy and working out 5 days a week. So it's not like I haven't ever lost a lot of weight before and don't know how to do it safely. I'm just hoping this comes off like that first 30, without a ton of effort!

Aidan has very active days and very lazy days but he makes his presence known pretty regularly at night. Luckily I'm either a very heavy sleeper or he has the same bedtime as me because I don't feel him after I fall asleep. Before then though? My god, you'd think he was throwing a kegger!

Huge Congratulations, Pupp! Welcome, Nolan! Can't wait to see pics! I hope you're resting comfortably and enjoying your new baby boy!!

HOUie~ YAY for team pink!

Hello to all of you beautiful mamas!

Congrats Pupp and welcome to the world Nolan! :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Hou- Congrats on Team Pink!

Lanie- I didn't do my classes till my 3rd trimester. I didn't do the labor classes at the hospital, I did a one day deal at a place called The Motherhood Center. It was helpful and painless. Well, I thought so, my DH didn't. He was the only man there and they made us watch labor videos which he helpfully compared to making him watch a snuff film. :nono: AND his blackberry wasn't working so he was extra miserable. ;)) But anyways, point being that you don't have to do the long classes unless you want to. I did my breastfeeding class through A Woman's Work in Rice Village and thought it was WONDERFUL. Just FYI for other options.

CC -- good tip on A Woman's Work! Where did you deliver? I'll be at St. Luke's. My parents, who are used to living in their house out in the middle of no where, and DH's parents who are from a small town, are going to FLIP with the traffic in the med center! :cheeky:

Lanie- I was at Methodist, so right next door! Med Center traffic is a bit tricky, but I live like 5 mins away so it wasn't too bad. Plus I got induced and went in at 8 pm so no problem. The funny thing though is when we were leaving (middle of the day) there was so much traffic that it took us forever just to exit the driveway of the hospital!

I  A Woman's Work. Before I had a baby, I thought it was a bit creepy (a whole store devoted to BF?) but it was wonderful. The sales girls are so knowledgeable and helpful and supportive. They have a scale and you can just go in and weigh the baby b/w dr visits. They sell the cutest clothes for baby, nursing bras, nursing tanks and clothes, plus anything you need related to BF you could possibly think of or need. I went in there OFTEN while on mat leave and now I buy pretty much all of my baby gifts there. Anyways, the BF class was great and DH went and thought it was good too. It was definitely proBF, but not judgmental at all. DH took notes. :cheeky: It was cute. Anyways, that's my PSA for the day, but it's a great resource if you BF. If you don't, then they still have cute clothes!
