Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

LV!!!!!!!! She's just beautiful! What a pretty girl. I can't believe the ordeal you went through...so glad she's here happy and healthy, and you sound like you are doing great! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Laila -- where have you and cutie pie Luke been? Post more pics!!!!

Congrats LV, and welcome to the world, Samantha!! She's absolutely gorgeous, mama!! I hope you're getting at least a little rest - hang in there. I can't say night #2 was easier than night #1 at all, but the good news is that the sun rises in the morning. hehe.

Super quickly before I go feed Ellie: short version of birth story - went to L&D when I was still in early labor (didn't realize it at the time that the contractions were only little ones!) and ended up getting sent home again. Went back to L&D about 3 or 4 hrs later when the contrax got really intense, got my epidural 2 hrs after arrival, and Ellie was born 2 hrs after that!! Went from 6cm to complete over those last 2 hrs, and only pushed for about 15 min, through 5 or so contractions! The feelings I felt right when she was born are absolutely indescribable...I am teary all over again just thinking about it. It's amaaaaaazing. Will post the complete birth story soon!! Here's one of my fave pics so far, taken yesterday in the hospital.

ETA: sorry it's so huge!

Oh HOU!!!!!!! She's adorable! What a sweet, sweet face. And so alert! I started reliving it all again reading your post. I can't wait to hear more and see more pictures! What a special time for you and your DH...enjoy every minute of it!   Now go feed the little bebe!

LV and HOU Congrats ladies! Your birth experiences were so different, I suspect the almost 3lb difference in baby weight contributed a little :rodent: ::) You both did wonderfully. I had a bigger baby the first time and may I say, I would not mind a little peanut this time :rodent:

LV Now that you are through the whole thing I will be very curious to hear more details. I know you were hoping for a natural labour and wonder how the real thing compared. I know what it is like to hope for one thing and end up with something quite different. For me, it took months and months of thinking about it and talking about the experience with DH before I processed it all and really accepted what happened and let go of my sadness about missing out on certain things -- like holding Hunter right after he was born, for example (he was rushed to the Peds present because of meconium and his cord around his neck, I did not even see him at all for about 5-10 minutes, just one little glimpse). After I mourned the loss of what I hoped for, I had peace about it all and actually, now feel quite good about my birth experience in the grand scheme. I still hope for a natural birth this time around, but have fewer expectations. Anyways, I would love to hear more details in a few weeks when you come out of the "Aaaahhh what the heck do I do with a newborn!!??? :errrr: " phase. As HOU says, the sun does come up, just hold onto that in the long nights.

LV and Hou
Congrats to you both!!
And welcome to Samantha and Ellie!!
Both are little (or not so little for LV :) cuties.
Glad to hear that everyone is doing well.

Skippy
You look awesome.
Can't believe you are almost half way there w/ twinkies w/ the itty bitty belly.

Ditto Lanie, as usual lately. What an incredible experience, meeting your baby with your hubby. I cannot wait for #2.. so never thought that I would be that girl. it feels like this secret club that really is not so secret hehe. Love love sweet Ellie  hope your epidural was great

LV- Samantha is beautiful! And such a big girl! I think she is a bit less teeny newborn- looking since she was so late? Sorry to hearthat your induction took so long, but the result was amazing! :appl: congrats mama!

And yes ladies those first few nights can be long, but it should get better quickly!

Yay LV!!!! She is just beautiful! Congratulations on your little bundle of joy! :appl:

HOU, she's gorgeous! Congrats on a happy healthy baby!

Wow, 2 new babies to stare at on PS!! Who'e next?

Lv-congratulations on your beautiful little girl!! Wow the induction sure did last a few days but that face makes it so worth everything!!

Hou-congrats again! She's so beautiful and so alert!! Are you home or still in the hospital? That pic of E reminds me of one I have of S! They look so similar!

I hope you girls get at least some rest and enjoy!!!!!!

Waiting to hear from Bliss, hope all is well!

Re: nights @ the hospital, my LC told me there is a growth spurt on day 2. I don't know if that is scientifically true but I do know that my DD would not get off my breast all night! I think I got maybe 20 minutes of sleep in total. It was awful lol but yes the sun did come out the next day (with some few choice words from me ;) )

LV & Hou- Congrats on your beautiful little girls!! they are adorable!! :appl: :appl:

LV & Hou! They're both so gorgeous. Congratulations, mamas!

eta: BLISS, thinking of you and your little bundle of joy!

thanks for your sweet words PUFFY and LILI, hugs!

Name question!

DH and I both love the name Vienna for a girl. That was my favourite city in Europe that I visited (other than Prague, and I don't think that is a very good girl's name ;)) ), its the home of Freud and I am a psychologist etc etc. And it sounds pretty.

But it is also the name of that horrid bachelor reality "star". Does this matter? Dh figures no one will remember that in a year, and maybe most don't remember it now, but I can't quite shake the trashy connotations.

Thoughts?

Still no boy name though

LV and Hou!!! OMG! Such beautiful faces! HUUUUGE congratulations ladies. Enjoy your little angels.

LV, looooong induction, I guess your little princess made a nice little home in there. :)

Hou, crazy labor story but I'm glad everything went well.

Congrats ladies, those little ones are just precious!

DD - don't see an issue. She would likely get called Sienna a lot though.

By people who misheard her name you mean?

DD- I don't think anyone will remember her name in a year or so. When I heard it I thought of the city, until you mentioned the reality star. I think her 5 minutes of fame is up! I think it's a beautiful name.

DD - I did think of the reality star when I first read that...but that's not to say I would in a year or two and your kid has a long life ahead of them. I also thought of Vienna Fingers - do they make those anymore? - vanilla oreo-type cookies that are oblong instead of round. My grandmother bought those all the time and my brother used to call them "veena" fingers when he was little. Little kids might like having a cookie named after them though!

Yum....veena fingers...

DreamerD, I like the name Vienna; sounds pretty to me and I doubt anyone would think of it with an S instead of V. I am having a tough time coming up with boys names right now! LOL I had a bunch of girls names I liked.

LV congrats!! She’s a darling! I’m sorry your labor was long but I’m glad you are both through safe and sound. Can’t wait to hear more.

Hou, Ellie is precious. You sound like you had the ideal labor, I’m envious! Congratulations!! (you're scaring me with talk about difficult nights in the hospital :o )

DD - I don’t think most people will even think of the reality star and I think Vienna is a lovely name. Especially by the time she would start school, it would be a non-issue.

Dee - I’ve been using oil but it hasn’t really helped. Oh well!

Moxie - I noticed I was bigger almost immediately but in clothes, I don’t think anyone could tell until 14 weeks or so, and that’s only if they were very observant. I hid it until 20 weeks at work which was pushing it (most people had already started to suspect), but that’s what I felt comfortable with. I didn’t pop with a pregnant belly until mid 2nd tri I think; before that I just looked big around the middle.

Skippy you look great!

Kay - I’m glad all is well. I’m in corporate, which I think tends to be less flexible than T&E. I’m planning to work 4 days a week, except when a deal is closing of course, when I wouldn’t really be able to limit my working hours. But hopefully with the 4 day setup, at least my hours target will be lower, and when I’m not working on a deal I’ll get to spend more time with the baby. How is Alexis sleeping these days? I remember an old thread of yours. I want to be regimented about sleep but I know it doesn't always work out the way you plan.

So who’s next - geri then mela then me, I think. Eeeek! 4 more weeks for me. At my appt last week the dr said he was head down, but I'm not dilated at all. I'm looking forward to my US this week to estimate the size. I’m excited but so nervous. Hard to believe that our family of 5 (2 human, 3 feline) will soon be a family of 6! My dad JUST got the Tdap shot (which we told him about months and months ago), and apparently it doesn't fully protect for 30 days. The baby might come before then. That means I might have to not let him hold the baby when he's born, which sucks, but oh well. There's a lot of coughing stuff going around and I don't want to take any chances.

LV and HOU Congrats to both of you - both Ellie and Samantha are just beautiful  sounds like you both doing well and you both have your precious little girls with you - so happy for you both :)

Skippy you look fantastic twinkie mumma :) - you have a cute little belly there :D

DD I admit that would be insane with twinkies and toddler but it would also be a heap of fun :) - either way I am sure you would manage but I admit I would be panicked and excited at the prospect too :)

Also with the name Vienna - I think it is really pretty :) I don't know who the reality star is so when I heard of it I thought of the city :) so no negative connotations here :) I can't remember who posted this website but if you have names you and your DH both like but are not 100% sure of it gives you suggestions based on what you input http://nymbler.com/ I used it for my friend and came up with her baby girls name :)

Princess You have the beginnings of such a cute D shaped belly there :) - you look great :D

Cat Good luck with your U/S :) gah once you have your LO I am next on the list *eeeek*

_________________________________________________________________

Thank you for the well wishes for DH - we will find out the results on Monday when he goes to the doc so fingers crossed it is all good :)

I had my baby shower yesterday - my MIL hosted and she did an awesome job and I got really lovely presents, there were more people then I expected and some couldn't make it - one of my friends stuffed up the dates and thought it was today LOL she felt bad I thought it was hilarious :). I was also overwhelmed by peoples generosity - I was all for not having a shower but was told I had to, I am person who much prefers to buy others gifts then be bought them if that makes sense.

Like catluver I can't believe the list of preggo's in waiting is getting shorter :o only 3 ladies in front of me :o - and now I am back to panic/excited/panic mode, I am okay with the preggieness and I am okay with the baby it is the in between that I am coming to terms with - the labour stories on PS help though :)

13 work days left before MAT leave and even this is starting to worry me - even though I am so over working at the moment but I think I am starting to get to the panicky nesty mode which is about time really LOL

I also decided to have an elective 3d/4d U/S they don't do any measurements and it is non diagnostic but I don't get any more scans here after the anatomy scan unless I was high risk which I am not *thankfully*. The part A part of my personality wants to 110% confirm we are indeed having a little girl and not a boy - I told DH I would likely cry if I found out we were having a boy now (I would also get over it fairly quickly it would just be the shock) I think mainly because I have this image/idea/name etc and it is all for a little girl - DH thinks it would be hilarious.

Hope you ladies are enjoying your weekend :)

OMG, Ellie and Samantha are adorable!! Congrats LV and HOU!!! O and S are almost exactly the same size right now. That blows my mind!! He's so big, I can't imagine giving birth to him. LV, you're a rock star lady!!!

Dreamer D - I don't think anyone will associate her with a reality tv person, especially not in a couple of years. not sure if she'll be called Sienna, as I don't know how familiar that name is, and they start with different letters. since I was little people have always called me "Nicole" (even this week I was called that) as they were more familiar with that name than "Noël" even though they damn well knew my name. :angryfire: if you're into city-names, we chose the name Phoenix if it were to be a boy.

Love the name Vienna! Very pretty - and unique, as girl names go. I have a friend who studied in Vienna and said it's such a pretty city. I don't watch the Bachelor so never heard of a reality star by the name.

OOOhhhhh Pheonix is a really cool name! I will see what DH likes.

I don't think we are "in to" any particular names per se. We just want something unique but not tooooo unique. And something that sounds cool ;))

D: No one has mentioned Vienna Sausages (I remember eating them growing up).....I actually love the name Vienna and think it's really pretty! We were going to use Phoenix as a middle name if our LO was a boy....LOVE the name!

Congrats to all the new mommies!!!! So exciting!
