Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Tacori, Tessa is so cute! I love both pics! I also really love the ring you posted. It''s beautiful!

T, Tessa is adorable! Love the pictures! That ring is beautiful! I hope you get it!

Tacori, the picture of Tessa as she sleeps looks so angelic and then the one where she is sitting and smiling is toooooo cute! What a beautiful baby! Yes, get the beautiful ring
9.gif

Tacori, Tessa looks so "grown up" already in that second photo! Wow, they change SO fast! And I looove that first photo of her sleeping -- I think that should be your new avatar. She's just gorgeous
21.gif

Anchor, I forgot you are a twin! I know it's a sister -- ID or fraternal? Wow, 30 weeks -- that's so early! How tiny were you guys? In my twins forum, I read about people going super early too, sometimes still in the 20s. So scary! Yep, I'm thrilled to have made it this far already, and every week that I make it through is a milestone! Tacori, how long ago did your aunt have twins? Because from what I read, it's really dangerous to go past 40 weeks with twins (esp. if they share a placenta) because the placenta starts to disintegrate and no longer nourishes the babies. (This is also true of singleton pregnancies but I think in that case, it's 42 weeks.) So that's why most doctors will deliver twins between 37-39 weeks. I'm happy that my doctor is a 37-38-week deliverer -- as long as the babies are good and healthy at that point, I think I'll be more than happy to get them out of me and into the world!

And speaking of my babies ... I think that Gabriel has dropped. I swear I feel like I'm about to pee my pants at any given moment -- eeek!! Constant bladder pressure plus there's just more pressure down there in general (I keep telling Q, "A small boy is trying to sneak out of my vajayjay"). And I'm feeling Katelyn up near my ribs more too, so these babies are definitely growing and moving in there! In addition to the pressure, in the past few days, I think I've also developed carpal tunnel, mostly in my right hand but slightly in the left as well. When I wake up in the mornings, both hands are super sore and my right hand goes tingly throughout the day. Ahhh well, only about 10 more days to go!

Hope you all had good weekends! How are you all doing? Any new stuff to share with us?

ETA: Get that ring! It's beautiful!!

Thanks Zoe, Snlee, Skippy, and Ella!

I think she does look older. I can''t wait until she smiles as a reaction to us/something and develop her own little personality. She isn''t sleeping any longer unfortunately but hopefully that will come soon. At least nursing is going good (even if she cluster feeds all day!) She still spits up a lot.

Ella, my twin cousins are 21 so I am sure things are different now. You are getting so close! Are you all ready???

Tacori, Tessa is just adorable!!! i love the shot with her asleep all cuddled up like that....doesn''t it just melt ur heart..

and i agree, shes all grown up in the second picture!!!! amazing how quickly they change...

Tacori--gorgeous pics of Tessa--she has amazing expressions--thanks for posting the pics. I luv seeing them

Ella--good for you for booking that mani and doing a little shopping even though ppl stare at you funny-hehe. I remember my co-worker who had twins say the same thing when she was 30+ weeks and was out and about. Just a couple of more weeks to go and that''ll all be behind you!!!!
Speaking of shopping--I was at Costco yesterday and my bank card wouldn''t work at the checkout and there was a big line so i ran over to the ATM to get money and ran back to the cashier to pay. My jacket was open and I had a tight shirt on and the cashier looked down at my belly and then rudely (and loudly) said "you know, you shouldn''t be running when you are pregnant--i just noticed". I just kind of stared at her, paid and walked away. I said to DH--she would probably be dragging me out by my ear if she saw me at the gym! Advice is one thing, but she didn''t have to be rude!

I have the luxury of catching up on this thread this morning--full-out blizzard going on here--about 5 students in the entire school. The snow was up to my knees this morning--i had to shovel a path to my truck--oops costco lady wouldn''t like that either i am sure

Tessa is so incredibly adorable, especially in the picture with the boppy. You can sense her mischevious personality there.

For pumping, it should not hurt at all. Use the slowest and lowest setting. Add a touch of Lansinoh on the nipples to ease the friction. The other thing is to make sure the horns aren''t too small which will not allow the nipples to move freely in the "tube". If the "ladies" are rubbing the sides, you need larger horns. Call Medela for parts if you need them.

Tacori, I don't mean to freak you out but those velvet Boppy slipcovers have been recalled. http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/prhtml08/08097.html I can't tell for sure from your photo but I think for the one you have, it's because the zipper pull can come off and is a choking hazard. The other colored ones have lead in them. I'm telling you, it's always something...

Thanks for posting that, Curly -- I hadn't heard that before! I just fwd that onto all my friends with babies, too. I've got two Boppys but I don't think that my slipcovers are affected by the recall, but it's still scary.

Jas, how much snow did you get up there?? We got about 3-4 inches here -- our first real snow of the year! I'm so nervous about getting snow the day we need to drive into or home from the hospital with the babies. That was my first reaction when I found out we were having Dec/Jan babies -- "but the weather!!" I'm a total weatherphobe. I hate hate hate driving in the snow. Thankfully, hubby doesn't mind it, and I've got a Subaru, so between his confidence and my AWD, I feel OK being on the road when he's driving. But when I'm driving, fuggedaboutit. Nervous wreck.

As for being ready ... well, mostly (I think!). Clothes are all washed, cribs are together, we've got diapers and wipes (though we'll probably need more Preemie size but I don't want to buy too many ahead of time) and Vaseline and Desitin, and I've got breast pads and Lansinoh ... ummm. We've got lots of bottles that we still need to wash, and we need to buy new nipples, but hopefully I won't be needing those for a few weeks still (provided BFing goes OK). What else did you find you needed ASAP when you got home from the hospital? Oh, also we've got lots of blankets, burp cloths, wash clothes, etc. We still need to put together the cosleeper, the pack and play, and a swing, which I'd like to get done this week.

Oh, and my stretch marks decided to arrive about a week and a half ago
39.gif
I made it SO far without getting any, but they're definitely there now, snaking their purple little stretchiness near my belly button. Crap. I know it's not that big a deal, but still it's depressing to know that my body is *always* going to show signs from this pregnancy. Oh well. Fat healthy babies are worth it, right? And I've changed the name of the babies' XL piggy bank from "College Fund for Twins" to "Momma's Tummy Tuck Fund"
31.gif

And yay for the new avatar, Tacori!! I am truly just gaga over that photo! There's a commercial on TV now (can't think of what it's for), and it shows all these sleeping babies, and it's just the sweetest thing -- you can practically smell that baby smell through the tv! And that's what Tessa's photo makes me think of.

The second pic of Tessa is so sweet. She is such a doll.

How long is it suppposed to take a blood test to come back? I called my Dr. Saturday and the receptionist said call back next week. It''s driving me nuts.

And we couldn''t keep the secret anymore, so we told our parents about the pregnancy.
3.gif

oh for crying out loud. Delaney is on my lap as we speak laying with naught but a diaper on, ON A BRIGHT PINK VELVET BOPPY COVER!!!!!
29.gif

Elailla, thank you for posting that. I''m off to send it back...stupid lead recall crap. I checked the link, she has a bad one. Argh.

I love how we all look out for each other here, I hadn''t heard that one yet.

Tacori: Tessa is a DOLL. Where did you find that ring? I want one too!

Tacori: I called the recall hotline & they are sending me a new one next week. It took all of 2 minutes and no fuss....didnt even have to give a reciept or serial number (since I cut my tag off).

They were very sweet & apologetic.

Thanks everyone!

Calling veteran moms...
I think I jinxed myself a few posts back. Just last week, Baby C was sleeping 6 hour stretches, but suddenly he''s waking up HOURLY 4 nights in a row now. Cuddling doesn''t cut it either. He''s screaming and his eyes are pouring tears.
7.gif
He doesn''t seem sick and he''s a happy camper once the sun comes up. Any ideas?

Awee Tacori, Tessa look so angelic and cute in her bundleme.
She looks like a little eskimo

at my dr. if you do it b/f 1:00 you get the results back the next day. later in the afternoon, it''s a 2 day wait.

arggg...thanks for letting me know. My first recalled item. Thanks Curly. Better safe than sorry.

Diver, I will have to call since I have no idea what to do! Too bad. It is such a cute cover. The ring is from antiqueengagementring.com I wonder if they are good. I know some PSers have had good experiences with them. They also have the matching blue one that would be perfect for Jake (enabler!)

Chrono, I think the "horn" might be too small. I have the cheapest one so I wonder if I can even get a larger one. I''ll have to check out their website.

Ella, she is sweet when she is sleeping.
1.gif
So you know how I made fun of my MIL for the 150 bibs she bought me. Well Tessa goes through at least 5 a day so I guess she is really the smart one. Same with receiving blankets. But she spits/vomits so I am sure it would be less with a different baby.

qtiekiki, when I got my blood test I had to give blood again 48 hours later for them to compare the hcg hormone.

Lili, I think the bundlemes are so cute. I ordered her the matching hat too.

Ok I just found out my Dr call me yesterday night, but I missed his call. So I called and got confirmed that I am pregnant
36.gif
after trying for 1 yr. I think we could''ve saved some time if I found out about my asymptomatic UTI a year ago. Because I was treated for it during my last period, then this month I am pregnant. All of the past year, DH and I were worried that something was wrong with us.
3.gif

congrats Q!!!!!

My sister and I are identical twins, though we both had our own amniotic sacs (it happens). Mine ruptured and mom delivered. I was 3lbs1oz and my sister was 3lbs3oz. It was in 1985 so of course medicine wasn''t as advanced then... I had brain hemorrage and I have hemiplegia as a result. It''s not very strong, but it was a rough childhood. Getting past 35 weeks is all I hope for every twin!

Tacori: just go to the link Curly posted & call the 800 number, they will send you a free replacement. easy.....

qtiekiki: congratulations on the confirmed results!! wishing you a safe and easy pregnancy....

Tacori: Chrono does make a good point about the size of the horn. Is there a place where you can sort of ''try'' them on for size before actually going ahead and purchasing one??

Yay! Congratulations qtiekiki! Such great news after trying for so long. My husband and I started trying 2 months ago. I know it''s not that long but it seems like it! I hate the waiting, disappointment, and wondering if something is wrong with us! I''m happy for you!

congratulations qtiekiki!!! Lots of sticky baby dust to you!

Anchor: wow! what a story!

Elailla..on here watching for twin updates.....

OMG!!!!!!!!! My girlfriend, the photographer who did my maternity pictures, went to the doc for abdominal pain & bleeding today (airforce base doctor....need I say more? ) and she''s PREGNANT. Ok...she had a tubal ligation LAST YEAR when her 2nd son was born via c-section, and she just had a radiation test for her thyroid a week and a half ago. Her LMP was about a month ago...and she''s bleeding now.

Tubal ligation & PREGNANT? OMG.... She''s heartbroken & worried because A) they think it might be ectopic, and B) if against all these odds (tubal & thyroid problems) she did get pregnant for a 3rd kid, she''d really like to see that "special little person" and get a baby out of it.
8.gif
39.gif

Of course at the base htey didn''t have an ultrasound machine, so while it *might* be a tubal, she has to wait to see her ob tomorrow afternoon. I can''t believe she has to wait so long. I''m livid & worried. I made her promise to go to the ER if she started bleeding more/having pain. (she hates the ER). A friend of mine had an ectopic pregnancy & didn''t know, it ruptured, she hemorraged so bad she had to have a transfusion.

Stupid base doctor. No offense to smart base doctors, I''m sure you exist, but you didn''t see my friend today, that''s for sure.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ok...we went to the coast this weekend & stayed at my friends beachhouse. LOL...y''day we had to leave because of hurricane/storm warnings, which was fine, we were planning on leaving sunday anyway.

But we had SNOW at the beach, and a drama filled ride home, but first, let me load pics and then I''ll regale you with my tale...LOL

OK, So we went to the beach friday, and a HURRICANE WARNING was issued while we were there....

So we narrowly escaped the hurricane by leaving yesterday--(there are 90mph winds there now & the region is flooded, winds, power & gas out, largets sitka cedar tree in the US got knocked down) and the pack & play that is Delaney''s bed was RIPPED off the roof rack of our car (it was bungee''d down so well too) on a 2 lane bridge between Oregon & Washington (and it’s a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG bridge that FLOATS ON THE OCEAN) and flew down the road and went tumblin'' away. Of course there is no place to stop, and its such a long bridge you can''t park on one end and walk to get it, and there is no pedestrian lane either, so basically, it was BUH-BYE $150 Pack-n-play with all the bells and whistles! You know how lucky we are that the a-hole who was riding our a$$ for 2 miles till we got to the bridge decided to get in the oncoming traffic lane on the bridge and pass about 4 cars? Otherwise he would have gotten hit with that huge thing.

Then we just missed a tree snapping & falling on the hwy, it hit a car a few minutes ahead of us (Thank God I forgot to turn off the coffee maker at Marlas & we had to turn around to double check, if not, that could have been us) and we got there as other motorists were clearing the tree from the road. It was a big ''un....the car''s windshield was completely shattered & the frame all jacked up, but the passengers OK.

Oy....

MERRY CHRISTMAS from our family to all of yours...

P1020656.JPG

oh divergrrl!!!! im so glad that both u and ur family are doing okay!! how scary that it could have been you when that tree snapped!!! oh my god...glad everything went the way it did though....(i feel bad for the other car though)...

as for the pack & play!! that totally sucks...im glad no one got into an accident or hurt by how it just flew off the roof, but that just shows how windy it was!!! im glad that none of your family were hurt by this...material things like that can be replaced, it is your health that is more important....

that is the most adorable picture of ur angel!!!! thanks for sharing...

Diver--wholly smokes--one scary drive--glad you and fam got home safely--this time of year is bad for driving--the weather is so unpredictable!
I love the christmas pic--i am sure you''ll start a trend of holiday-inspired snapshots of the gorgeous babies on here

The weather is nuts lately--Ella, to answer your question, I think we have at least 14 inches of snow by now (my class was just trying to calculate it in math this morn), and temps have droped down to close to -20 C already (that''s -4ish Fahrenheit)--which is totally normal for late decemeber--but not late November. I am really dreading jan and Feb when temps go to - 40 and I am forced to wear the one semi-warm coat that I own and will fit around me! I can''t afford to buy a down jacket for just 2 months of pregnancy so I am going to suffer through it. I also ski coach and since i won''t be on skis this year I''ll be standing on the hill officiating the races--do you think being preggo is a good enough excuse to stay in the chalet with hot chocolate?! I hope so ....

Thanks for the boppy recall info--i have to check mine--seems like they are well used by moms. I watched a baby show where the family brought home triplets and almost every shot in the episode there was at least one baby perched in the boppy. I thought I would just use mine for BF--but i can see now that''s not the case.

Ella--I am curious too--what are some of the ''must''have'' items for bringing home baby? New moms, chime in.

diver, that is a crazy story!! I'm sorry you lost the pack n play but at least nobody got hit by it. And I can't believe the story about your friend. I hope she is ok--I don't think I could bear to wait another day to see a doctor. And I LOVE the Delaney photo in the santa hat. I think it is so adorable when they sleep with their mouths open. TOO CUTE!!!

Jas, you can still use your boppy, the recall is for the velvet slipcovers for the boppy. I LOVE ours--we still use it on a daily basis because now that Lily is sitting up, I still worry that she's going to fall backwards so I put it behind her on the floor while she plays with her toys so the back of her head will be cushioned in case she does fall.

Couldn't live without: boppy, Nuk silicone pacifiers, white noise machine, Swaddle Me or Miracle Blanket (in the beginning), Baby Bjorn, pack n play with bassinet and changing table, bouncy seat. Of course, there are other things like the carseat and stroller but I think everyone has to have those anyway! Oh, diapers are kind of important too! We love Pampers Swaddlers--Huggies didn't fit her properly. But don't buy too many because you don't know how big your baby will be. And we use Playtex Ventaire bottles but again, not all babies like the same bottles. We didn't do well with Avent. In the beginning, you really don't need much. They don't play with toys or anything. Basically they need a place to sleep, food and diapers! And cute outfits, of course!

So far, so good for me. I go to my first doctor''s appointment on Friday so I''m super excited about that! I am in my 10th week now and anxious to get out of my first trimester (danger zone). I''ve had some morning sickness/all day sickness and I''m soooo tired. I love my sleep these days. My poor hubby is stuck with all the chores too so I feel sorta bad that I''m so out of it. I''ll post another update after my appointment on Friday!

CUTE CUTE CUTE baby pictures everyone!

~Jess~
