Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Tacori--
I know both my sisters just use the regular detergents for their baby clothes -- Tide to be specific and sometimes whatever brand Costco carries.

Ok! I ran out of bibs (for my slobber baby) so was desperate. I rather use regular old tide since that is what we use plus it smells good.

I would love a 1.5-2c cushion...but can''t get myself to spend the money. So I am trying to find joy in buying strollers and diaper bags.
39.gif

You can always get diaper bags all decked out with crystals
9.gif

I know how you feel. I was going to finagle DH in getting an upgrade for our 5th anniversary.....but alas, we are expecting our little just days within our anniv.
It''s hard to justify spending on extravagant items when you got all these necessities for the baby -- diapers, carseats, clothes, child care and of course start funneling $$ for college tuition.

MrsS--
I just saw your thread on your upgrade....and I''m just swooning in love
30.gif
30.gif

It''s gorgeous!! And so much bigger than 1.6. I would never have guessed.

Good grief....I think I''m making up for the symptom free first and second trimesters.
My back right back rib is killing me right now

Yet another mommy question.....I have been using dreft and it is amazingly good at getting out the poop but while we were in Tucson I did a load at my cousin's (with regular tide). She didn't seem to have any negative reaction to it so I was wondering if you all thought I could do away with the 'gentle' detergent? She doesn't seem to have sensitive skin.

tacori, i used (and still do) the tide free and then use downy. i actually have always used downy even back in the days when I was a new mommy and used the dreft. I just love the downy smell too much. neither of my girls had any problems.

lili, thanks for checking out my other thread. i am just so over the moon excited about my ring and new baby of course
3.gif
oh and my ribs hurt all the time too.

Oh my, I haven''t been on in a while, and there are so many pages to read! Can''t keep up!

We had our first prenatal appointment today, and even though we were there for a total of 4 hours, we got to see the baby on the ultrasound with a heart rate of 154 bpm.
36.gif
36.gif
I am 7 weeks, 6 days today. You gals were right. The transvaginal ultrasound wasn''t bad at all. I think the speculum was way worse. We were so happy that everything is okay thus far. I''ve been sick for the past few days, and actually had my first episode of throwing up last night. Boy, did that make me feel so much better afterwards. I have been experiencing food aversions at its worse lately. But luckily, since I am feeling better now, have a little more of my appetite back. Thank goodness for that. We go back in 4 weeks for our nuchal transluceny screening. I can''t wait until I get through my first trimester. I''m not showing or anything as of yet, but man, do I feel bloated. None of my work pants or jeans feel like they fit me anymore. I had to get a bella band for the time being because I am so uncomfortable sitting all day at the computer with my pants feeling so tight on me.

Now, time to go back through and read the rest of everyone''s posting....

YAY radiantgirl, that''s very exciting!!! I had food aversions early on too. I remember being out with hubby and wanted fried shrimp. I love fried shrimp but once it got to the table, I couldn''t be near it. Funny how that works.

RAdiant Girl: I am so thrilled for you! Congrats honey....

Detergent...washed both kids in Tide. Delaney DOES have sensitive skin, but its not detergent..it was lotion/baby wash. She''s all Aveeno now and just fine I guess.

However I do wash her stuff separate from ours, cuz I don''t put fabric softener on it yet.

I thought All Free & Clear sucked at getting clothes clean. Waste of $$. Tide all the way. And it has to be regular old, nothing fancy, nothing added, nothing taken out Tide. Tide Free sucks at stain removal too.

Mrs S: Swoooning at your upgrade...had to search...how did I miss that? SWOOOOON. How are the girls doing? Excited about Just Jake? (have I mentioned mine is a Just Jake too?) ALL Jakes are handsome, funny, heartbreakers.

Ok, I''m right in the middle of making almond roca for 2 girlfriends....both had surgery so I''m sending them care packages. Have to pay attention to the candy thermometer....

Yay Radiant girl! Hang in there...the honeymoon tri will be here soon enough...

Diver, good to know. I guess we are not picky about clothing cleanliness...hehehe. But we don''t have obviously (stained) dirty clothes either.

And you''re making almond roca?
30.gif
I''ve been craving it for days now. Don''t know why I just don''t go out and buy it!!!

lili, looks like those of us who have had easy pregnancies are getting our share of aches now. It was only a matter of time. Hope you feel better...or at least not worse!!

Can''t read the whole thing, but:

Pie. No thanks. Doctor says I don''t need to gain more weight, and I like the weight I am at now - gotta watch those calories.

Tide, all the way. I bought some fancy baby stuff when he was born and quickly realized that the kid didn''t care what I washed his clothes in. Tide Ultra for this household.

Now my product plug of the day - Grobags. Love love love them. My 20 month old still uses them. I want one for myself.

Happy Day-Before-Valentine''s Day!

Isn''t that cute? You can make your own Parenting Magazine cover! We''re going to send those to the grandparents tomorrow
21.gif

If you want to do a cover, too, go here: http://covermaker.parenting.com/index.html

As for detergent, we use All Free and Clear (or whatever it''s called), and it does the trick for us! I wanted something free of perfumes, dyes, etc. so even though I miss that good smell of clean laundry, I can deal. Babies add their own smells to their clothes soon enough -- some better than others
2.gif

Oh, I sympathize with you ladies with the rib pain and hip pain! If it''s any help at all, it alllll goes away once you have that baby, so hang in there! I know I posted this a few months ago, but for hip pain, I totally recommend getting a prenatal massage. And changing the way you sleep can make a HUGE difference. Remember, don''t put a body pillow between your legs -- keep it next to the bottom leg, and drape the top leg as far over the pillow as you can. That will really stretch out the hip.

MrsS, where''s your upgrade post? I can''t find it, and I wanna see!

MsS--LUV the ring upgrade--damn, you''re making me want to put a halo on my cushion! Is it really bad that I am already thinking ''upgrade'' when I ''ve barely owned this stone for 2 years (yes, it is BAD). I flew to NYC by myself to pick up my stone from Mark T. two summers ago and when I was there this thanksgiving I soooo wanted to just drop in and see what was in the vault--I in no way can afford an upgrade right now--but a girl can dream....

Litchick--that is a beautiful pic--funny, I pictured you as a brunette- for no real reason

Tgal--i had to take my wedding band off one day this week b/c of the swollen hands--that frees up some space on the finger. Funny thing: DH told me he always used to look at a preggo woman''s ring finger to see if she was married--not in a judgemental way--just out of social curiosity--and admitted thinking to himself that there were a lot of unattached pregnant woman around--LOL--he didn''t know about the ''swell-factor"
3.gif

Nice ppl (who are also liars) tell me i am "all baby" -very kind, very inaccurate--my face is swollen, my calves have expanded to sausages and my thighs have a new-found giggle. I don''t know how much of it is water and how much will be a weight loss project post-baby
40.gif

Lili--I share the rib-pain--i am a mess, b/w that and my hips (sometimes I can''t lift one leg up in order to pull on a pair of pants) I feel preggo and 80!!

Tacori--I plan to just use Tide-Free and about 1/2 of what the box says to put in a load

Radiantgirl--sorry to hear about the MS
14.gif
--it''ll get better. I remember the bloated feeling very well--a trick that also works is to use an elastic band on your pants (just loop it thru the button hole for instant room) I was able to wear most of my pants till the 4th month with that trick

thanks Diver...i just LOVE it too..the girls are doing great, they just can't wait for baby Jake to get here. they are always kissing and hugging my belly and talking to him, it's so cute. I'm getting really excited about my Just Jake too. I think I do remember reading somewhere that you had a Just Jake. good to know he's going to be in excellent company

pics of my upgrade are in this thread

Jas12, you know, your MB was very high on my list too and i was going to get a cushion so we would have been ring twins. you've got one gorgeous ring there missy, i wouldn't change a thing about it.

Thank you all so much for the congrats on the heartbeat...it''s so much easier to have some people to share it with. After the initial coolness factor wore off, DH went into a "zone" where he started worrying about finances. He walks around mumbling "Cribs, clothes, diapers, braces, camp, food, college." It''s his little mantra. Poor guy.

Love all the boozin'' babies. So funny!

TGal -- hee hee about your husband and the heartbeat. Maybe the XY chromosome requires men to have things in stereo surround sound so that it''s realistic?
SKIPPY! How are you, friend? I miss talking with you in WWT but I don''t feel I should be posting there as I am eating more now than I have in two years! (No complaints about that!) Did you already have your special trip yet?
MrsS -- I''d be glad to take four weeks for you...I just feel I need more time to mentally adjust. Congrats on your 32 wk. appointment. So exciting!
Jas12 -- Ouch about your own birth.
Butterfly -- CONGRATULATIONS! That''s quite an adventure you''ve had so far!
Snlee and Kaleigh and Diver and Dani -- Thanks! And HI!
Lili -- The doctor suspects I may be further along for two reasons: 1) Able to hear the heartbeat on doppler at 8W1D (which is a new record for her, and she''s been in practice 20 years) and 2) My uterus is pretty big. That may just be due to the fibroid. We''ll know on Monday!
QT -- No kidding! If I am at 12 weeks or so, this is the frickin easiest 1st trimester ever. Which means I will probably sprout a third arm out of my forehead or something!
31.gif

Radiant -- My goodness, that''s a long appointment. Good to see you again!
Ella -- THANK YOU! I think this is how we''re going to inform our friends and family! Love the cover. I just sent the linkie to DH, and of course he decided to create one with David Hasselhoff on the cover.
20.gif

I''ve got to figure out some boundaries with my mom. We''re having real enmeshment issues (she and Dad moved out here about 2 years ago just to "be with me" [despite having 2 other children] and not only are some lines being really really blurred (my mom has only made friends with MY friends...and sees them way more often than I do, despite my trying to get them involved with clubs and other activities with people closer to their own age), and not only is my mom trying to "fix" the wack-job of a relationship with her MIL by being best friends with my MIL, but they have recently started treating me like I''m thirteen again. Even DH noticed. I tried talking with them about this, but they literally started LAUGHING at me, which is making me pause. This whole baby thing is going to be wonderful with them (they will be awesome grandparents) but it will highlight some of these issues.

I have to figure this out pretty soon because if I am really farther along, I''ve got to tell them sooner rather than later.

Anyway, so that''s my personal goal for the week!

Have a lovely 13th!

oh MrsS, that ring is to die for!!!
30.gif
YUMMMMM!!! congrats on the dream upgrade!

TGal, love how you''re using pregnancy gas as a weapon ("I''m armed") -- that made me laugh out loud!

Happy Hump Day gals!

LC, juuuuuuust in case you don''t know, "pie" is a PS joke basically saying, "let''s move on" or "peace?" By Tacori offering pie, that''s what she meant...as I am certain she doesn''t want ANY of us preggos/recent moms to gain more weight!

Ella, LOVE the cover. Hehehe. That is just the best! And re: being armed....not as armed as I was in the first tri, thank god!

Hahaha...we should all do a SMTR on your porker preggo finger! Minus MrsS''s skinny digit, of course. Hmph.

So Jas, are we brave enough to do 34 week belly pics? I would only consider the belly. Fat face is off limits! And my calves have expanded too! When I sit on the ground and bend my knees, I notice how TIGHT they are. I''ve been poking at them and noticing how my finger leaves a white mark for a few seconds. TGuy looked at them the other day and said "uh...that''s not good."
39.gif

Jackie, funny about your poor DH. My boss jokes, "you women bear the burden for 9 months. We men bear it for 18 years!" Ha. I do think men start doing the mental calculations though...except for TGuy who figures I''ll find a way to manage.
20.gif

And that issue with your mom seems a bit sticky. Let us know how it goes!

Ella--thanks for the Hip Tip--I am going to try that tonight--and I also have 3 massages scheduled for the upcoming weeks so that should help. I remember you recommending that stuff-- I really hope you are right about it all going away post-baby. I''ve always had hip pain from sports injury and I stress about whether pregnancy and birth is ''new'' pain, specific and isolated to this event--or something adding to the previous damage...

The mag-cover is adorable!!!
30.gif

Jas--let me know how the ''mom talk'' goes--i am facing that same thing to a certain degree--I posted about it once--i luv my mom and know she''ll be a big help and will spoil this first grandchild, but i am just dreading having her popping in 24/7--she already does this and I really like my space!

Tgal--weeeelll, i did take a pic last week--i could post it I guess --are we going bare or clothed?, we need an even playing field here--lets lay down the rules-hehe
9.gif
--as for ring shots--nope, not doing it, i have the ickiest hands ever right now thanks to the eczema--and I keep burning myself while baking--preggo clumsiness--I am laughing to myself right now cuz I am taking stock of the UGLY going on in my body right now....praise the skies only 5.5 weeks to go!!!!

CLOTHED!!!. i used the timer on the camera, was on the phone and it cut off my head but since it's the belly everyone really wants to see..here ya go

re: sleeping positions...

I did find out recently that you can lay on your tummy...won''t hurt the kid. Obviously this is pretty uncomfortable in the 3rd tri though.

I wouldn''t sleep this way, but I found a comfy way just to be on my tummy for a while. I have a body pillow that I form into a donut. I lay with my tummy in the donut hole and there is no pressure when I do that. I''m trying to get some good "tummy time" so the kid will go into the proper anterior position because I spend way too much time lounging, which doesn''t help.

Mrs S, that is awesome! It''s cool that you are only belly...you are still so small and it only looks like you have only a ball in there, which I think is the perfect preggo body...hehehe. I see no definition of "ball" anywhere on me. It''s just honestly fat and weight EVERYWHERE. No roundness to the belly, which I just think is so cute. Just blobbiness. It''s like if you took a ball and covered it with a down comforter...that''s what my tummy looks like.

OK, I will take a belly shot tonight. And I will also be in BLACK.

tgal, i promise I am more than just belly. my maternity jeans that were big in the booty and thighs when i first started wearing them are almost tight now. so i definitely grew other places. i wear mostly black everything...even preggo i think it''s slimming
9.gif

i bet you look adorable. i saw the baby ball on you in the last pic you showed us so no doubt it''s only a little bigger now. can''t wait to see pics later...

MrsS.---ummm, no. You are JUST BELLY--don''t even try to convince us otherwise.
11.gif

Tgal--you do so have a round-ball-belly--we saw it in your other shot!!

I''ll be brave and post a pic when i get home...

Oh, forgot to ask--

MOMS--how long does the ''still look 5 months preggo'' thing last after having the baby??? I know this will vary from mom to mom, but for you, when did your uterus shrink back enough to get away will just looking chubby as opposed to still looking pregnant?
[And yes, I am asking for vanity reasons, i am wondering what the heck i''ll look like for the mandatory events i am scheduled to attend in the weeks/months post-birth (a wedding, a charity event i help run, my welcome-baby shower etc.)]

It is actually a pretty funny feeling lying on your tummy (or at least 3/4 of it which I tend to do)
You can really feel the baby squirming in there
