A week for teary eyes indeed!!! So much excitement going on in this thread! I love it!

Congratulations Jas and Charlie! Welcome Cohen Anothony! Yeah for natural birth! You go Jas! I can''t wait to hear your story and meet your son!

MrsS, welcome back!

Kay, sounds like your NT scan was great! Did you enjoy looking at your little one for 30 minutes? My NT scan is next Monday and we can''t wait to see our baby again. And of course I''ll be relieved if everything looks fine.
The scan was fun for about 20 minutes because it was cool to see the baby for an extended time and with lots of different views. The tech was pointing out different parts of the anatomy. At the end, they have to measure the neck at least 3 separate times, and the baby would not cooperate with its position. During the last 5 minutes, I was tired of having the sensor pushed into my tummy and just really wanted to pee.
20.gif

It is amazing how much more real it all feels now that we''ve seen him/her move around so much. (There was more thumb sucking today, as well as general flailing of arms and legs.) I hope you enjoy your scan, Snlee. Please let us know how it goes.

The amnio is up next. I''m not sure it is a good idea for me to have a full bladder when they bring out the big needle.

Thanks msb700, Ella & Burk. I like to switch the AV around since I have so many cute pictures. Tessa is actually napping in her crib right now! *GASP* Progress? Probably not Haha!

MrsS, my epi started to wear off too! Sucked! Congrats and can''t wait to see little Jake.

Curly, What about Laurel, Lola, Layla, Laci, Laney, Lana, Lara, Lauren, Lexi, Libby, Liz, Lydia, Logan, Lorelei, Lucy?

How exciting to see all these new babies! TGal, Amelia is just beautiful!!! And so is Jadelyn, Lili! And congrats to Jas on baby Cohen!

MrsS, we look forward to hearing more from you and seeing a picture of Jake!

and curly, there''s always Lulu

jackie -- no apologies necessary...we all have PLENTY to keep up with on this thread and I don''t log on daily usually (well, lately with all the great news i have, but still...;)) You and Ella are very important to me b/c of the twin factor, tho, so I will hound you when i "need" to ;) Hope you''re feeling good... I''m actually having a "good" day today (phew!)

ella-- ooooohhhh, i love the avatar pic! here''s my u/s pics as promised (they didn''t give me one of both of them at the same time this go-around, but you can see where the second sac begins in the first pic)...they really have stayed side-by-side so far, but i''m guessing they''ll have to move a bit as they grow (i can just imagine a set of feet kicking out each side of me when they''re big and look like aliens...haha)

to all the new mothers, again, CONGRATS! this has been a special week and i''m looking forward to the 3 other birth stories

mrssalvo, can't wait to hear your story and see photos of Jake! So happy for you!

ephemery, I LOVE Lila but my darling friend who is due in July has already taken possession of it! Such a pretty name although maybe too close to Lily for us to really use it. I also really love Layla but DH isn't sold yet. I'm working on it. While I think Leah is really pretty, it's a little too biblical for me--I hope that doesn't offend anyone, I don't mean it negatively but it's just not a great name for my purposes but I do think it's pretty! And I love Max for a boy. I have friends whose kids are named Max and Sofi and they are absolutely adorable children so I associate Max with cute boys! I would totally take Sofi (and they gave me permission to use it!) if we weren't sticking with the L theme!!!!

Tacori, I also really wanted Lola but my best friend who I've known for over 30 years just named her daughter Lola. Geez, don't these people know that I am the only one that can use L names?!
2.gif
I'm definitely partial to Layla and DH loves Lucy which is slowly growing on me but I'm not 100% sold yet! Thanks for all the suggestions, though! Definitely helpful. And I love your new avatar. I should probably put Miss Lily in mine--gotta do that!

Burk, how do they pronounce Lanea? Like Laney/Lainie? It's pretty...

lovelylulu, I gotta admit that I LOVE Lulu!!! DH's name is Louis so he didn't really go for it but he didn't say no. He really likes Lucy so if we do pick that, she can always be called Lulu!
3.gif

Kay, those full bladder scans are rough but that's probably the last one you'll have to do that way. You don't need a full bladder for the amnio!! It's funny because when I had mine yesterday, they check the baby via ultrasound again directly after the procedure to make sure that everything is ok and there is no distress and when the technician was finished, she told me to feel free to use the bathroom because she could see that my bladder was filling up! So crazy--I am just blown away by modern technology!!!!

sk8erjen, TOO CUTE!!!!!!! How cool that they are right next to each other--that is just too sweet! I LOVE twin ultrasound pics. They are just so special!

and here''s baby "A" (who was moving a BUNCH this time...fun to see for the first time
1.gif
) I think this will be the boy, btw....

i''m nicknaming ''em "fred and ginger" for the time being....

Curlygirl, what about Lesley or Lindsay?

my sil is named lucy and i just love it. such a sweet name!

i''m also partial to lila but agree that it''s too close to lily. i''m not sure if i''m totally on board with the name staking rules, though i can see how some people could be a bit proprietary about names...lena is pretty.

love the twin scans!!

Curly, my SIL''s name is Lena, and it''s a lovely name!

Big fan of Lara here.

Jen -- Awesome baby shots! Yea!

Hi Mrs. Salvo!

I found out today that my mom has been lying to people, saying that I didn''t want people to know I was pregnant until after a "certain point." Which is totally untrue -- once we told my mom we were in a "green zone," we said that we were going to let people know.

She also told my MIL, who was planning on throwing us a baby shower in May or June to "wait until after the babies are born" because it would be "too hard" for me if something awful happened and I had to "look at all the stuff." Basically giving the impression that I agree with that sentiment.

My mother suffered two miscarriages and obviously the pain of that is still with her; this is all about that enmeshment issue I''ve spoken about...she doesn''t know where she ends and I begin.

I tried to talk to her about this, saying that DH and I want to celebrate this pregnancy, that we believe that it''s viable, and that we want the positive "vibes" -- also, worst case scenario, we want a community of support if we need it. (Also, DH would love to not have to purchase everything pre-baby. I know that sounds horrible, but my goodness, even someone getting us diapers BEFORE we need them would be awesome.) I have also told her that DH and I need to be our own communication center. (Mom has a history of enjoying being mission control, the one with all the information. She pretty much doles it out on a need-to-know basis...)

Mom''s reply was that I SHOULDN''T have a shower before the babies, that I should be "cautious."

And since she''s long established herself with friends and family as the info source, people still automatically talk to her (and not me or my sibs) if they want/need information. I will have to work on that separately.

I just hate that this is being done "in my name" and while I know that she thinks she''s protecting me, she''s really just putting an ugly smudge on somethings.

On top of all this, I may have mentioned here that my mother has had image issues (passed along to me and sis) her whole life...major eating disorders. My dad just called me to check in and said that my mom had told him that I said I was only allowed to gain a few more pounds this pregnancy. I told him my doctor was thrilled with my weight gain and that I am "on target" and that, technically, I am just fine if I gain up to 45 pounds. My dad is clueless about this, and very protective of Mom, so I didn''t get upset with him or anything.

All my life I heard how my mom was "only allowed" to gain TEN pounds when pregnant, and she ended up weighing less after each pregnancy than before. But this, to her, is a source of pride. She is already worried about my weight gain, although I don''t bring it up with her. I can tell she is fighting her own thoughts by trying to say stuff like, "Oh, don''t worry, you''ll lose all the weight after the babies are born," but there''s an edge to this that is showing she is ashamed of any weight gain...mine, hers, or my sister''s.

This kinda stuff is why I moved 800 miles away from my folks...although maintained a relatively close relationship with them, 17 years ago. When they moved out here, a lot of these issues are resurfacing. I''m not traumatized by it, and I''m certainly not going to change my healthy eating, nor am I going to expect my Mom to change, but it makes me weary, ya know?
38.gif

Ok, end of rant. My life is such a soap opera.

Someone, QUICK, bring on more joyous news! Baby pics!

Jas, I am sorry you are having such trouble with your mother. I would inform MIL that your mom is incorrect and that you would love to have a shower to celebrate the pregnancy.

These are sort of baby pictures:

He/she has a chubby looking tummy in this one. (I can''t wait until we know the gender and can pick a name.)

congratulations to all the new mommies (and daddies)!!

Tgal, Amelia is too cute! She has got your heart forever and ever now!

Jas12, it''s good to know your little Cohen is here and finally listened to his message in the sand.
9.gif

Lili, your Jadelyn is PRECIOUS!!! I just want to hug her and squeeze her!
9.gif

Mrs.S, can''t wait to see your Jakey!

It''s been a week of babies galore!! I like it!

Have fun with the little ones. It''s such a great time in their lives (and in those of their parents!!). Live it up!!

Hi all

I am home--it was surreal walking Cohen across the street from the hospital, bundled up in his oversized snow suit. i am so happy to be home.

I''ll try to post more later--i see that lili had her little girl--how wonderful, and Jake arrived just before i left for my birth.

I am feeling okay--very, very sore (stiches and just muscle achiness) and my labor was pretty long so i haven;t slept in days really
I will try to write my birth story later--it was pretty eventful

So good to hear from you, Jas12.

Now your hubby has a baby to put in that sling. No more bunnies, but babies now! Yay!

Rest up and enjoy snuggle time with the baby boy. I''m sure he''s a cutie.

Does he have hair? Does it have the hint of red we saw in your hubby''s picture?

MrsS - Can''t wait for the pic and birth story. How are the girls with Jake?

Jas12 - Get some rest. Then post your story and pic. =)

Kay - Yay for a great NT scan! Hope the fibroid doesn''t cause any problems.

Burk - Poor Tayva. Hope she gets well soon.

Jen - love the twins u/s. They are so cool.

Curly - Leah, Lindsey & Leilene were the "L" names on my list, but we ended up picking another name. I didn''t Leah was a biblical name, but it just sounds so sweet.

JackieJas - So sorry that your mom is being so overprotective and not supportive of your weight gain (even though it''s normal). I am sure it''s frustrating, but try not to stress/think about it. Enjoy your beautiful pregnancy. You have a group of supportive friends here - we are here for you.

We finally ordered the crib and mattress online yesterday. They will be here next week. I can''t wait to put the nursery together, but we can''t start til May. And I think we finally decided on the name. Yay.

Love all the u/s photos! Keep em coming ladies!

Curly, I really like Lucy (but we are beatles fans). Actually I had WICKED BHs during "Across the Universe" and thought if my water broke during that movie we would HAVE to name her Lucy. (Great movie BTW). Too bad about Lola. I love how sassy it is. I knew a really mean Lena so I cannot get behind that name
2.gif

Jas, Not sure how much you read about my pregnancy but I got VERY unkind comments from my FIL. They were very hurtful to me (even if they were meant to be jokes
20.gif
) I just had to remind myself the comments are based on HIS insecurities and not about me. I gained A LOT but having a healthy baby was what mattered. Sure I am a little sad I am not bad to my regular size but one look at my baby reminds WHY I gained the weight. It wasn''t b/c I pigged out. It was b/c I was GROWING A LIFE! And you are growing two. I know it is hard to ignore them but just remember you can vent here. I completely understand (((hugs)))

Jas12, Yay on coming home! I can''t wait to hear your story. Please rest up. Recovery is hard that''s for sure!

Curly, I love the name Lucy - ever since I had a dream (a few years ago) that I had a little girl named Lucy Isabel. I called her Lucy Belle. Though I have no idea where that dream came from . . .

I have a Lucy who is not a baby anymore lol. Its an awesome name for any age I think. We called her lulu as a little girl and she still loves that name but her friends call her Lu lucy lucybelle or lulu still

So many new babies! Congratulations and best wishes to all the new mommies and daddies.

Love the US's. Thanks for sharing!!!

Curly~I should have included how to pronounce it, as I didn't know for sure either. It's pronounced La-nay-a. I love unique names (like you can't tell from my daughters name
9.gif
) and I haven't had any "Lanea's" at our school until her. I also like Lauren and am a little partial to Lindsay, as it's my name.
2.gif

Tacori~hurray for a nap in the crib!! Since Tayva's been sick we have gone backwards with her sleep patterns. She has struggled to sleep because she can't breath. I'm hoping she'll get back to normal soon because I am TIRED!!!

Jas~Can't wait to hear your story. So glad you're home cuddling with Cohen right now. Get some rest.

qtiekiki~thanks for well wishes for Miss Tayva. I do think she is finally starting to feel better.

Jackie Jas~So sorry for what you're going through with your mother. I think you deserve a shower! It is nice to get together with friends and family and talk about the baby and I know it's maybe not PC to say so, but it's nice to get things to help prepare you for the little ones. I have yet to buy diapers because I was stocked up from my shower and wow am I grateful for that!!

Hi ladies,

I love seeing all the ultrasound pics..they are just beautiful.

jackiejas- i'm so sorry about your mom. you sound like you are on top of though and not letting the messed up line of thinking affect you or your pregnancy. hang in there gal..

jas12, lili and tgal, hope you gals are all recovering well and enjoying your little bundles of joy. tgal, when you wrote about looking at your daughter and just being overwhelmed with love, we can relate. I can't say how much i'm in love with my little man
30.gif

So here's my birth story. We arrived at the hospital at 6:15am to check in. it's much better than when i went in during my false labor sunday night and they took me to the "holding cell" where they montitor you to see if you "get" to be admitted. this time they had to take me in
3.gif
We were then sent to a waiting room until my room and nurse were ready. around 6:45 my nurse came and got us, introduced herself and took us to the room. I adored my nurse. So glad things worked out the way they did. She's from upstate NY and she and hubby enjoyed quite the conversation centered around food (keep in mind i'd not eaten anything since dinner the night before and was pretty hungry myself)
41.gif
. anyway, she checked me and I was dilated b/t a 3-4. she then hooked me up to the I.V right away and they started pitocin. My dr. wanted me to get into a good contraction pattern before the epi but once they were steady they said i could get my epi whenever i wanted. since my water wasn't broken the contraction pain wasn't strong at all. My nurse did offer to go ahead and said we can place the epi so when i was ready for the drugs it would be easy. I of course said "lets do it." So around 9:00 I got a epi. the anesthesiologist was the same one who gave me my epi when i had Lili, how crazy is that? Anyway, he decided to put in a slow drip that would go about an hour and then it would kick in full force. My doctor came in to check me and I was still 3-4 so they increased the pitocin a bit. he had a sugery scheduled for 12:00 and decided that Murphy's law would be that if they went ahead and broke my water, i'd be ready to deliver while he was in surgery so he said he'd wait until 11:30 or so and then that should get things moving for sure. So, the next couple of hours were pretty uneventful. My dr. then came back checked me, i was still 3-4cm and went ahead and broke my water. About an hour later I told my nurse I was feeling a lot of pressure during the contractions, it was tolerable but starting to hurt. She said we'd get some more meds, she just wanted to check me again first. Well, that's where things went into superfast play. she checked me and said, your ready, she hit the call button and had my dr. paged, they started prepping the room. right then my sister stops by on her lunch break shocked to find me in delivery mode but excited to be able to be there. a nice little prep for her own upcoming deliver..hehe. anyway, it's almost 1:15 and the pain was incredible, i also felt i was going to have a total Jenny McCarthy (pooping on the table) moment, that is how the feeling is when the baby is heading south and it HURT. next thing I know baby is crowning and it's time to push. It was so incredibly painful, hard to describe really but it's like a burning feeling. my dr. said he thinks they can get the baby out with no stiches/tearing if we take it slow. at this point i'm in tears and saying I just can't do it and my hubby dr. and nurse were all soo great encouraging and pushing (pun intended) me on. So, 3 big pushes, a few little one's and 15 minutes later Jake made his arrival. and the miracle of it all? dr. kept his goal, no tearing or stiches, which I must said makes a WORLD of difference recovering. Huge bonus of being baby number 3. I didn't really understand about my epi wearing off until the anesthesiologist came in to take it out and said, you made it through on the one dose and my nurse said, "well no, she needed a refill but by the time I called you and you would have got here it would have been too late." total ah-ha momement for me as to why it was so painful compared to my other delieveries. All in all my recovery has been great. very minimal cramping etc. which is wonderful. although i enjoyed some quiet rest time at the hospital it's very nice to be home.

here's my little dude:

the hospital photo studio takes posh pics but I like it..

here''s the proud big sisters:

jake is such an adorable little man. i love how his big sisters are just gazing at him in awe!!

congratulations on being so strong during labor!

my mom has a sort of similar story. she was admitted on a saturday evening and apparently the hospital was hopping! anyway she was sort of off in this overflow room in complete contraction agony wishing that the anesthesiologist would come through her door and then labor progressed rapidly - so drugs. right after she delivered my brother the anesthesiologist comes in the room shouting "Epidural? Who needs an epidural"
6.gif
but as she''s told me, it''s all worth it in the end
emlove.gif

Wow, Mrs, Jake and his big sisters are adorable! I bet they are so much help; what a beautiful picture! Congrats
