Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Lili -- thanks for sharing the birth stories and the picture! Amazing.

Greeting to all -- QT, I love the name Meera. Sorry about your cousin''s twin.

Ladies, I''m just not able to add a whole lot to the discussion these days, but all is well here. More news after the 5/5 U/S

MsF, good luck! Hope you get the job!

Bobo, thanks I will post some new pics. T went to the doc at 1 week (weight check), 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 5 months (not standard....weight check), will go 6 months, 9 months, 1 year.

TGal, also pump after feedings. The more you use, the more you make. Our bodies are amazing like that.

Bobo, by the way that is an adorable photo of your daughter! Here is a recent picture of T.

Tessa-5m.jpg

Lili~she looks so precious!! And that hair....TOO cute!! Tayva also had 1 mo, 2 mo and will have a 4 mo.

Qtiekiki~Thanks for asking about Tayva. She''s actually doing a lot better on the medicine and I started her on Nestle Good Start formula and it seems to help too. Keeping our fingers crossed....I thought it was pretting interesting about the soy milk too. I like the name Meena and it''s so great you are able to include the name of your "adopted" grandma!

MrsF~Good luck with the job and thanks for the info on formula.

Tacori~Tessa is adorable, as usual!

Oh, and here is a (bad) pic of my "push present"

DSC00795.jpg

This one is a little better...with my wedding bands...

DSC00805.jpg

Burk, pretty PP! I like it stacked with your wedding bands too! Glad Tayva is doing better.

OM cuteness!!! Teyva, Tessa, Lili's new baby, and Jake are so darling! I think PS has the cutest baby's!!!
36.gif

burk- love your PP, the stacking rings are very cool

qtiekiki- jake''s almost 2 weeks and hasn''t been in pants yet. i keep him in little jammie''s with the feet. if you have a girl, sundresses or little rompers are great. once it get''s hot here, i''ll probably just keep jake in a romper on onsie and only bring out pants if we''re going out to eat or to church or something.

jackiejas- glad you''re doing ok, can''t wait for your 5/5 ultrasound..

tacori- tessa is such a cutie, she''s getting bigger for sure!!

msF- good luck with the job interview tomorrow!!

lili- love the pic of Jadelyn...she''s so darn cute..

Thanks Skippy & MrsS. She is getting bigger everyday!

Hello goils!

Been reading but too pooped to type. Finally have a minute where I don''t feel like I have to force myself to get some zzz''s.

lili, what a story! Man, such a fast labor! I loved reading your story and congrats on a wild birthing story! I know you wanted to get the epi, but just shows you how tough you can be when you don''t have a choice eh? And your girl is just gorgeous. I love her hair and how "groomed" it already looks! TTot looks like a wild bird with her crazy hair (longer at the crown and back and short at the front).

As for the chocolate cake, well, it stayed in a ziplock bag that we threw out when we got home. Obviously I didn''t think I''d be in the hospital for 6 days!

And re: appointments. I love my pedi...we had a 2 week appointment, then in another two weeks she has her 1 month. Then she goes for 2 mo, 3 mo, 4 mo, and 6 mo. After that it''s every 3 months until she is 2 years old.

I did try seaweed soup (for non-koreans, it is not as bad as it sounds...it''s traditional for after delivery as well as served up for birthdays.) I had it at the hospital and it obviously has not done anything. I am using the SNS at the breast so it is nice to "feel" like I am breastfeeding, but I think after I go through this Rx of reglan, I''m done with this. My milk has dwindled if anything and I am having TTot breastfeed AND pumping. As msb said (I think it was her), some women just don''t have their milk come in and I''m resigned to the fact that I am one of those women. I do feel like I gave it 110% so I don''t feel bad about it and am already looking forward to be able to drink wine and have chocolate!!

loverinathens...I tell ya, that heartbeat never gets old.

Tacori, your Tessa is truly beautiful. She always makes me beam when I see her. I love her eyes, and her smile and just everything about her! Glad your trip to cabo went well...saw your thread in hangout...looks like it was really nice! Was it awesome being away from her for awhile, or did you miss her more terribly than you thought you would?

MsF, yeah bright beginnings was good. I''ll probably go to one more class, but I think my BFing days are coming to an end. And cool deal on the bag. Do you pics of which one it is? Don''t you love deals? I mean, that stuff is all over craigslist, so if you find things in good condition, why pay full price?
36.gif

Fingers crossed for your potential job too! Go go go!

Qtiekiki, I hear there is some kind of chinese soup that helps. My friend is chinese and made it for me I think, but I had to cancel seeing her as we had that episode with my parents last week. Ah well. And you are way ahead of the game with getting things ready. Good for you!

And I love the name Meena...although I have a particular bias for that name.
2.gif

Ephemery, don''t worry...that morning sickness WILL go away. Positive thinking girlfriend!!!

Janinegirly, go with your gut on the amnio. I had numbers come back even better than yours, but in the end, I had to do the amnio for my own sanity. I never regretted it, although I was nervous about the miscarriage risk a little. But I knew somehow that the baby would be fine. You have to do what is right for you. If you feel confident, skip the amnio.

Jen, I hope that week passes by quickly...we want to see both babies too! Fingers will continue to be crossed for healthy babIES.

MrsS, Jake is a doll. I love that pic of him looking at his daddy.
30.gif

Jas12, I hope you are hanging in there girl! New motherhood makes being preggo look like cake eh? Chocolate cake...mmm............I really need to visit Mara and have her make me cupcakes!

Kay, re: referring to Amelia is TTot in real life. Well...depending on how fussy she is, we use other names.
3.gif
I just like TTot when it comes to referring to her on PS. The name just stuck and I dig it, plus is saves me typing 2 extra letters. Hehehe. At least I didn''t call her Cletus the Fetus like my friend did for her son. For ages I kept wanting to call him Cletus after he was born.

Burk, I hope Tayva eats more soon. What a stressful thing to be going through (now that I''ve been there and know!) And love your PP!

Jackie, good to see you. Check in when you can! This thread has slowed down since there are now 4 new mommies struggling to stay sane, I imagine. Hehehe.

All is good here. Managing, but exhausted of course. I still dig the kid, so I''m feeling less like packaging her up and "returning to sender". Ha.

hello ladies!! how r u all doing??

LOVE all the new pics and avatar updates! i totally agree that PS babies are just the most adorable bunch of babies ive ever seen in one place! :)

lili: wat a birth story! ur truly amazing for having done it all without an epi! love her head full of hair! My son had a 4 day, 1 month, 2 month, 4 month, 6 months then 1 year...

little update from me:

Its been a whirlwind coupla weeks with one event after the other, but everything is finally done and i can settle down a bit now....little K turned 1 year old on the 10th of April and he had three birthdays!! hahaha...well thursday (the 10th) my mom insisted that it couldn''t just go by without having a bday cake or SOME sort of picture remembering the day ''of'' his birth...(we werent planning on doing anything that day coz we both work really late and there just wouldn''t have been enuf time for a get-together)...anyhow..so i get back from work and go to pick up my son from moms (i drop him there every day when i head to work) and she has this little tiny cake out with a candle and munchies all around! hahaha..so anyhow, we sing happy bday, take some pics and off i go..

the next day (friday 11th) i had a little get together at my place for my family, the in-laws and my BFF...they all show up, some more singing, some more pics and some more prezzies...(this was a smaller scale bday as we had a family wedding that day and not everyone could show up...)...fast fwd to the friday after that (the 18th) and the ''extended'' family now wants a party! so again, we have another gathering at my aunts house with the cake, food and prezzies all over again!! hahaha..little K was having a blast being the center of attention =D...ill try to dig up a picture of him during these events and post them for u...

i cant believe a year has gone by...i have truly been blessed with an amazing son..i had a few bumps along the way, but honestly those days are a faded memory and all the happy times outshines them a thousand times....

this is from birthday #2 (our house)

and bday 3, he was enjoying being twirlled around by my cousin :)

msb~Sounds like there was no shortage of celebration!! That''s awesome! He looks so happy!

Tgal~Sounds like you have done everything you possibly can and you may just be one of those people who just don''t have their milk come in. Move on, give the girl a bottle and you''ll feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders (or at least I did!).
9.gif

mrss~Thanks!

Skippy~Thanks!! PS really does have cute babies!

Tacori~Thanks! I can''t wait to have another baby so I can stack my next push present!
23.gif

Tayva had a good day yesterday. Ate more than she had been. We''ll see if it was a fluke today!

MSB700, your son is so handsome! What a fun birthday!!!

So many new additions to this thread! Congratulations to all the new mommies.

For those with milk concerns, the mothers milk tea and fenugreek alone did diddly squat for me.

Here''s my tried and true tested "remedies":
1. Drink at least 100 oz of plain water a day - minimum
2. Eat lots of oatmeal (real oatmeal)
3. A touch of beer/malt sometimes help - not sure why, maybe it''s the vit B in yeast?
4. For those who need something stronger, I''ve tried More Milk Plus. It works ASAP. http://www.motherlove.com/product_more_milk_plus.php

For me, I found that Fenugreek alone didn''t work. It works better when taken together with Blessed Thistle.

Wanted to add one more thing:

Don''t be discouraged if you can''t pump a lot. Just like nursing, the body has to get used to the pumping "rhythm". You may barely eek out 1 oz at first but as your pumping frequency increases, the output should gradually increase too.

msb, happy two to your darling! He''s a prince, as I said before!

Went to that class again today. It was a different instructor (MsF, it was Hilary this time). Today she weight at each breast, and it was right as I said...1/2 oz on left, negligible on the right. She seemed to be impressed at how much I knew what was going on with my body (which is...uh...nothing) and told me most would have given up by now, as SNS feeding is not easy and bottle is so much easier. (I actually wanted to say, I didn''t think child rearing was supposed to be easy and why go to the easy route here?
41.gif
) . However, I told her I knew that my body wasn''t going to do this and I was just continuing to have some skin to skin contact with her. She said skin to skin was where research shows the IQ increase comes in. Since TTot is already a genius, I really didn''t think it mattered much. She also said I was only the second woman she''s ever worked with that this has happened to. Greeeeeeeeeeeat...
40.gif

So as I said, I''m fine with "moving on." I''ll start bottle feeding her next week I think. I told Hilary that since SNS feeding was all I knew, I really didn''t find it that much of a pain at all and probably would alternate, as I think the jaw workout is a good thing. As I said, I feel good about my efforts and TGuy told me today that he was proud of me, so there isn''t much more I can do anyway. (Plus I think he''s sick of finger feeding and can''t wait for the bottle! ha...)

Chrono, trust me, I am drinking so much water, I think that''s what she''s getting out of my boob!
3.gif

Tgal,
So sorry to hear of all the herculean effort you are putting without much result. Worse yet, you don''t seem to have much output so pumping will not help much. It''s all right - skin to skin is also important. The baby needs to eat, right? She''ll do well on formula; it isn''t the end of the world. Still, take the time to mourn the loss of a nursing relationship. It was very important to me with my first and I still feel pangs of disappointment sometimes but less so as time passes and I see that he''s incredibly bright and funny.

Thanks Chrono. I think that is what I will miss the most..the nursing relationship. But I can still do that with a SNS, so I am OK with that. I just love my "faux feeding". Hehehe...

As I said, I was only formula fed, as was my brother and I think we''re pseudo bright. I can only imagine how much further formula has come since then so I feel at peace that my child won''t be some kind of dummy.
41.gif
Plus I am giving her a couple of ounces of day of me, so that may help with the immune system thing. I really don''t feel it was too much of a herculean effort, but I know a few friends who quit pretty early (within the first month) and they actually had milk, so I guess it''s not always an easy thing to do.

But THEY didn''t have Tacori as their inspiration. Hee hee.
9.gif

It's great that you can handle the SNS. It was a disaster for me because I couldn't get the tube to stick and the milk flowed everywhere except into his mouth. Since I was a very productive cow, I pumped for 1.5 years and bottle-fed, while putting him to the breast once a while. It seemed to work best for me when he was tired at night but eventually he gave up on that too.

I''m telling you, this kid is a genius when it comes to breast feeding! Perfect latch, doesn''t cause nipple soreness and sucks like a champ. It''s the mother that''s a retard!

OK, question of the day that has me stumped. At the hospital, they had pampers swaddlers newborn. These diapers had a yellow stripe that turned blue if the baby went pee. However, the same diaper that I bought at babiesrus (or anywhere else) does not have this useful stripe. Pampers website also doesn''t show this product. The question is why? Is it because we''d waste less, therefore buying less? Anyone who can find this diaper gets my 1/2 oz of booby mllk (hey, don''t make fun...it''s my most precious commodity right now!!!)

I haven't seen this one. Maybe it's a special type made only for hospitals?

Who needs that 1/2 oz? I have 2 deep freezers full of breastmilk and no more room.

Sure....rub it in..........

That''s what I''m thinking. If so, that sucks. It''s a great product!

Hehe, that''s what we noticed too.
I think those pampers are especially made for the hospitals.
I think I saw a print on the package that we got from the hospital indicating so.

It''s probably not cost effective for Pampers to make diapers with the indicator.
That''s a shame.....they should put that indicator on there, if not just for the newborn diapers (since their pee are so small).

Anyway, sorry your milk is so low. Well, the good thing about it is that you don''t have the engorgement problem that so many first time mommies are experiencing
9.gif
I''ve seen so many mothers popping painkillers because of it. I think you''ve given more than 110% with BFing. Don''t stress too much about bottle feeding. So many kids grow up to be healthy and smart and they were bottle fed.

Question: what''s SNS?

Thanks everyone for the response to the baby well checkup schedule.
I guess it varies from doctors to doctors.
I was just surprised that my pedi won''t see my baby for another six weeks.

Lili- Congrats on your natural labor. your story was awesome! I thought about getting an epi at around 9cm...but I didnt vocalize it. I also thought i was constipated...it totally freaked me out. I really thought i was going to poop (i didnt it was just the baby) Hope your healing continues to go well!

Ha, I think something did come out for me
14.gif

I wasn''t going to eat breakfast that day, but figured I need all the energy I can get.
I just didn''t think that I''ll be pushing this quick after getting to the hospital.

Anyway, good luck with the job!

lili, I'm surprised that your doc won't check her for one month. I thought that was standard? But hopefully the other mommies will put in their two cents.

Yeah...thanks for that info on the diapers. It's probably not cost effective to give that version out to the general public. It really saved us when we were trying to get her to pee, and sometimes we could only tell by the stripe since it was mixed in with the meconium. I'd pay extra for that feature though...although now there is no doubt that she is wetting since her diaper is so heavy when she does, so I guess I really don't need it.

ETA, a SNS is a supplemental nutrition system (I think). It's a bottle with a thin tube that the baby sucks to get milk. You can tape the tube to your finger or your nipple, and with the suckling, milk comes through the tube. They control the flow, unlike a bottle nipple. I dig it.
