Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

jas, congrats on two boys! How exciting! Why no relations after 22 weeks? Is that normal for twin pregnancies?
Thanks -- she mentioned the studies that the sperm can release something...progesterone...that can stimulate contractions (the reason people near/over their Due Dates have the relations.) Also she said that female orgasm can cause contractions. To be fair, she said this was more precautionary.

I had never heard not to have the relations...only that after a certain point the woman's body is more receptive to starting labor after sex.

I'm totally bummed..that plus the 6-8-12, etc. weeks post-partum and it'll be like 6-8 MONTHS. And DH has a bachelor party to attend in a few months...
31.gif

ETA -- Ha, thanks TGal, it's not progesterone.

TGal, we got ours here. Looks like they changed their name it pediasleep.com LIFESAVER!!! Of course you know how excited I get when I find a product that works.

Jas, sorry I missed your announcement too! Yay for team blue! We need some boys on here

Jackie, I missed your post...yay for team BLUE! How exciting. I find it funny your DH is already mewing for another one though...one step at a time! He''s going to have fun with his boys!!!
Yeah, he tends to get ahead of himself.

I told him he should be proud...considering the way they boys were, ahem, displaying themselves, they obviously take after their father.

Thanks Tacori!

And Jas, I think it''s prostaglandins that do it? Best to be on the safe side...my coworker swears it''s sex that sent her into early labor. She had contractions start both times they had sex and ended up delivering her son at 32 weeks...

I agree with TGal, better safe than sorry in this baby making business. Trust your doctor. At least you are not on bed rest.

Yup -- prostaglandins...that''s the word. Obviously my brain is not working and I''m too lazy to look it up like a good poster should.

Yikes. Yeah, better safe than sorry. I''ll turn down the water heater for DH.

And that''s going to have to do, because Lord knows I am damned sexy in my graduated support socks, big round belly and constant belching. How he''ll keep his hands off is beyond me.

Agreed. And actually, I am now on modified bed rest, 4-6 hours a day. I''ll just type and write in bed. Fortunately it''s not too bad, and I am really lazy.

She also nixed exercise except for stretching and walking (no elliptical!). Can''t say I''m really upset about that, although it will make my tushie spread.

I''m also excited to add more boys to the group...I hope all the little gal cuties on here like younger men.

Burk, little B is a night owl like his parents ^_^

Thanks TGal! He got his daddy''s nose

Tacori, Thanks for the info.

Jas, wow..Two boys! Congrat!!

Jas, congratulations!!!!! So exciting to finally know what is in there huh??? I'm already dying to know...I am just so bad about surprises.

Everything here is somewhat blissfully uneventful. Our Bugaboo arrived today though! DH has already assembled it and put it in the living room. It's staring me down. He wants to go buy a watermelon and drive to a deserted parking lot to test it. AND he has already figured out how to take off 2 of the wheels so that you can "off road" with the stroller. Oh lord this is going to be an interesting 8 months!

I told him we should just go over to my friend's house who just had a baby and borrow hers. But he thinks the watermelon idea is way funnier. Men!

Watermelon is a great idea. Test drive it, then eat the watermelon. Yum! Speaking of which, that sounds so good to me right now. But I''ll have to have strawberries and chocolate instead.

Oh MY CUTENESS, adorable baby's Lisa, Jas12, Bobo, Tacori, Burk, and TGAL!!!! The PS baby's are soooo cute

The very definition of pregnancy brain -- I thought your husband wanted to test drive the watermelon.

Never mind. Carry on.

Well obviously it doesn''t go away after pregnancy because when I first read it, I thought they were going to buy a watermelon to snack on while they test drove the bug.

No TGal, now we have mommy brain!

Bobo, I wish Tessa stayed up later (DH and I stay up late) but no...oh well. Can''t fight it. Just have to give in and then she is a happy baby (and I am a happier mama).

Mother''s Day: Anyone have anything big planned?

I have an OB appt this sat and I am taking the 1hr GD test then. I wasn''t really worried about it at first, but now I am because I keep reading about people not passing it. So wish me luck. We are also going to get to see our little peanut again since my dr. wants to check on her growth. My belly has been growing a lot, so I hope she is growing too. She''s been kicking on my right side. And sometimes I can feel her feet on the right side, jabbing out. I just love feeling her.

Diva - Good luck with the 2nd GD test. Are you doing another 1hr one or a 3 hr one?

What color(s) are you thinking about for the nursery?

Tgal - Awesome find for the Maclaren umbrella stroller. Amelia is so cute. Look like she grew a lot... she is so long.

Jas12 - OMG, the pic of Cohen is adorable. He looks like a commercial baby.

MrsS - I have the image in my head of your dad holding Jake. It''s such a sweet image.

Jen - Sound like you got a lot done in your garage. I think DH is waiting for my nesting urge to kick it. I haven''t been cleaning as much since I got pregnant. hehe.

Bobo - Little B has the most pinchable cheeks. So cute.

Jas - You are so tiny. I can''t believe you have twins in there. I was bigger than you at 20 weeks and I am only carrying one.
38.gif
Congrats on twin boys!!!

Snlee - You have a cute little belly too.

Pavelover - Yay for doubling HCG numbers!

Kay - I like the Munire Savoy line. I don''t think it''s too masculine for a girl. I do think it''s more modern looking than classic.

NF - It''s cute that your DH wants to test drive the bugaboo with a watermelon. He sounds excited.

The pix of the little babes are too cute TGal, Jas12, and Bobo.
5.gif

And the pix of the bellies are just lovely Jas and Snlee.

TGal
Too funny about the signage

Hehe, love Amelia''s pose. But then again, I am partial to it cuz my little one sleeps like that too

Bobo~sounds like you have a very similar schedule...just starting bed time a little later. I wish we could, but Tayva is NOT a night time girl. She just gets crabby so it''s not even worth her being up.

Kay~At least your husband is going with you. Mine sent me with my mother-in-law and said ''get what you like'' so I brought back some pics and told him which was my favorite and he said ''ok.'' End of story. If you plan to have more than one child I recommend getting something that could work for a boy or a girl so you can re-use it with baby number 2. (at least that''s what we''re doing)
That sounds like what my husband was like with wedding planning. Whenever I asked for an opinion (about anything other than the church or the food), he just said "pick whatever you like." Furniture shopping is the only kind of shopping he likes to do with me, and he has strong opinions. We have been able to agree pretty easily on furniture for most of our house because we have similar taste, but the nursery has been a bit trickier. I may change my mind, but right now I doubt there will be a baby #2.

LOL -- that is quite an image. Congrats on team blue! I think my DH really wants a boy.

Yay for Jackie, two boys, that''s awesome!!!

I have a question about crib bedding. Most of the sets come with a quilt and padded bumper, but I know it is not safe to use those with an infant. Is there some point that you can start using them safely, or are those items just a waste of money? I saw a really cute 4-piece set this weekend, and I think the bumper, which had 3 really cute fabrics combined on it, was my favorite part.

Well I took out the bumper at 4 months she she moved into the crib. I have heard it is safe until they can roll. I think it is one of those decisions you have to make. I love my mesh bumper and it is safe. Did you see my nursery pics?

Tacori, I remember looking at pictures of your nursery months ago and really liking it. I just went back to look again. I really like the Urban in espresso with the blue walls and white trim. It is funny to me that you would prefer flat drawers on the dresser, because I really like the beveled drawer edges on the Urban dressers.

Where did you find your mesh bumper? Do you have a picture of it posted anywhere?

Jas!!! Boys!?!? SOOO exciting. Congrats!

36.gif
Did you have a feeling one way or the other?

All this watermelon talk had me re-reading all these posts too. So funny how the preggo brain and mommy brain works (or doesn''t work for that matter!)

No Mother''s Day plans for us....I have been hinting that since it''s my first Mother''s Day I should get something sparkly...dont'' think DH is amused.

Anyone doing anything fun?

My babysitter is out of town this week so my MIL is watching Tayva half the week and my sister the other half. Yesterday I came home for lunch (11:45) and Tayva was getting fussy so I took her and put her down for a nap. I told MIL DO NOT PICK HER UP unless she has been stirring and awake for at least 10 minutes. When I got home at 3:30 my MIL was pissed because Tayva was still sleeping! Thank goodness I came home or MIL would have had Tayva napping on her lap all afternoon!!!

that''s what I did with my girls and then put it back in when they were older and past the sids stage. you just have to watch because once the toddler can stand they will stand on the bumper and the big fluffy ones can give them enought boost to clib over the crib rail.

this thread is always crankin so i''m sure I''ll miss someone...so sorry..

Jackiejas- congrats on team blue!!

tgal- you know, I did the whole "wake the baby to eat" with my first but did not do it with my second or Jake. I did actually wake Jake up during his first few days just b/c he was sleeping soooo long but now he pretty much wakes up or is ready to eat every 2 1/2-3 hours during the day. he sleeps longer at night and I just refuse to end that routine to wake him up and feed him. first, I LOVE getting 3-5 hours straight sleep, makes me a WAY better mommy when I''m not tired and cranky and it''s good for him to get what he''s suppposed to do at night. He''s not starving and gaining strongly so I won''t mess with it. if he was only 5 lbs or something I might feel differently but I guess I just go with the "they will wake up when they are hungry" theory. I think it falls into the " do what you think it right for you and your baby" catagory...

jas12- glad things are working well with Cohen..he''s such a cutie...

tacori- I hope i can get Jake to like his swing. so far, he''ll sit in there for about 5 minutes and then gets fussy. Lily never liked the swing either but I love the portable one I got and want to be able to use it when we go to the pool etc. this summer. I will keep trying though. He LOVES his carseat. I can drive 4 blocks to pick up my daughter from school and he will fall asleep right away and stay asleep for a couple of hours.

Kay, I just got it at BRU right after the "incident"
6.gif
It freaked us all out. She was even wearing a sleep sack but she is a wiggle worm. It is just white, nothing exciting but I like how it is lightly padded b/c she sleeps up against the rails.

MrsS, T always loved the swing. Hopefully Jake will come around b/c we really relied on the swing the first few months. I can''t wait to take Tessa to the pool. I bought the special swim pant...that means I just use regular diapers right?

Speaking of diapers I HATE LUVS. The sides don''t stretch and they are hard to put on. Just thought I would share. Never thought I would be a diaper snob...but I am. I have a trash bag filled with generic diapers from two baby cakes b/c I HATE them. Such a waste.

Holy moly, this thread moves waaaay too fast for me!!! I have so much to catch up on and I know I''m going to miss a few of you so I''ll apologize in advance!

Kay, so glad the amnio went well. It''s funny how psychological it is when you don''t know what you''re in for and then once you do it, you realize it really is a piece of cake! Sorry you didn''t get to see the goods, my girl was a total exhibitionist! Let us know when you get the results--I hope everything is perfect.

snlee, CUTE belly!!!! You look great! I got my crib at BRU--never thought I would buy it from there but I really LOVE it. They don''t seem to have the same model name on the website but I think it''s this one and it''s espresso, not cherry: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3012755

Tacori, I can''t believe Tessa is 6 months old already. TIME FLIES!!! As for baby food, I never heated it up. I never heated her bottles either--I just wanted her to be used to everything at room temperature so it was less hassle for me and she wouldn''t only eat things if they were warmed up. I''m totally a diaper snob too! Pampers all the way, we went from Swaddlers to Cruisers and I can''t use anything else!

Diva, I "failed" my GD test also by ONE point. I had to do the 3 hour one which I passed with flying colors. It wasn''t horrible, just BORING to have to wait around all that time so make sure you have stuff to keep you busy. Good luck and let us know what happens. I can''t believe you have 12 weeks to go. So exciting!

Bobo, little B is absolutely ADORABLE!!! Hope he''s feeling better.

Jas12, swaddling and white noise--yup, couldn''t agree more. Hopefully Co is sleeping better but I definitely recommend both things to help. He is gorgeous!

TGal, what a steal on that Maclaren!! Good job, girl! And Amelia is just precious!! She''s grown so much already! Love your "ghetto" sign!
2.gif
We bought a white noise machine for Lily and it works like a charm! We got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond so it wasn''t super expensive since it''s not specifically for a baby!

jackie, your belly looks great!! It''s so not huge. And yay for Team Blue!!!!! I am so happy for you! Everyone says boys are easier than girls in long run. We''ll have to compare stories since there will be no more babies in my future after this one!!

Burk, Tayva is beautiful!! Love the photos!

Lisa, your daughter is gorgeous and exotic looking. I''m glad you have joined our thread!

So Miss Lily turned one yesterday. Bittersweet for sure and I had a good cry in the morning but we had a great day. My family came in on Sunday and we had lunch at our favorite Turkish restaurant where Lily actually ate all the yummy kebabs and stuff! They gave her some pastries with a candle and sang happy birthday after. It was very sweet. Then yesterday she had her "real" party at daycare yesterday and it was just precious! She had on her special dress that I had custom made for her and I bought cupcakes for all of her friends and teachers. DH and I were there to celebrate with her and the best part was...SHE TOOK HER FIRST STEPS!!!!!!
36.gif
So I now have a walking one year old--pretty amazing! Here are some photos! Enjoy!!

lilybday1.jpg

She was not digging her hat!!

But she enjoyed her cupcake!!

Curly, Lily is so cute! Congrats on her birthday AND first steps

Go Lily! Her outfit is beyond adorable. She is always so stylish. I am going to only warm up food that was in the fridge (like if she doesn''t finish the jar). I am glad I am not the only diaper snob. I just feel like pampers work and feel the best (too bad they are so stingy with they coupons
20.gif
). The Luvs were part of a shower gift and I HATE them. I''ll use them b/c at least they absorb but I can''t wait until they are gone!

A diaper question I have a huge box of 2s and I think she might move onto 3s soon can I exchange them without a receipt? I probably can find it if I had to.

I don''t know anything about the swim pants? I always just used the swim diampers under their little bathing suits. I love taking my kids to the pool too and can''t wait for summer to get here just for that reason alone..
