Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

TGal, mine might have been closer to $30,000....I can''t remember. I am sure those bladder scans aren''t cheap
40.gif
You are always so sweet about Tessa. My friend told me not only does she want a girl (she is TTC and has an 18 month boy) but she wants her to look JUST like Tessa. I can''t think of a bigger compliment than that!

Solid Foods....well it was Sweet Peas Part 2 at our house. I thought I was being smart and stripped her down to her diaper before I fed her. She got it everywhere...ON her diaper, in her ear, between her eyes. There was even a clump on her eyelashes
23.gif
But it went much better. She ate more and was helping me shove the spoon in her mouth. I have Munchkin spoons and they turn white if the food it too hot...really helpful since I heated it. Yesterday....oh it was so funny. She was making gagging noises, scrunching her nose and shaking her head. She was really freaked out. I was laughing so hard so of course SHE started laughing. I am sure she will love fruits....the peas smelled really gross!

LOL, you have a pic of this, right???

The video is better.....

Here she is NOT liking the whole experience. She would basically just spit it out and shake her head.

I got smarter today...had her down to her diaper. Still a mess as you can see. But she actually smacked her lips so I think she likes them.

ETA: Bumbo works great as a first highchair BTW. Easy to clean too

good-peas.jpg

hahaha...oh so cute. Did you feed her or just throw food at her?
2.gif

TGal, you just wait! She kept grabbing the spoon/food. They smelled SO bad. I didn''t blame her for not liking them. Today she was swallowing so that is a good sign. She still ate SO little. Tomorrow is our last sweet pea day until we move to something else. I''m thinking squash...I really like the Munchkin spoons.

hehe, sooo cute! Smart momma keeping her just in her diaper !!! Love the faces

Hehe, great pics of Tessa!! Peas?? I still don''t care for them, LOL!!

Skippy, she somehow got it ON her diaper too....crazy! She was making some serious faces. She must have been confused since she''s never had any real flavors in her diet.

Tacori,

LOVE those adorable pictures of Tessa. What a beautiful little girl she is. I remember those spitting out food days LOL. My grandsons used to crack me up. The more I laughed, the more they spit.

Linda

Mrs. Salvo, I didn''t know you had your baby. I wasn''t looking in the right place. What a beautiful little boy Jake is. He is a little doll. Please give him a little kiss for me. I LOVE looking at these baby pictures. Wish I could turn back the time with my grandboys.

Linda

Thank you Lisa and Linda! She is a funny girl. Linda, when I laugh she laughs now. Believe it or not she DID actually eat some. Oh, she is SO ticklish now. It is hilarious. We can really get her going. Lisa, I don''t like them either. And they smelled horrible. Blah.

Tacori,

They are so adorable at this age. Treasure every single moment with her, as of course, I know you will. They grow soooooooooooooooooooo darn fast and you wonder where in the heck did the time go!!!

Linda

Linda, I can imagine. These past 6 months have flown by! It''s exhausting but a lot of fun.

A question for PS preggers here or former preggers:

Did anyone get *TMI ALERT*

a white creamy vag. discharge prior to implantation (currently 7dpo)? I''ve read its estrogen and cervical changes (Leukorrhea).

Also some cramping - I swear I don''t remember these things w/ 1st preg.

Maybe AF is on the way.

I just talked to my mom and she said she would help us out with T''s pictures as a b-day present for DH and I (we are both June babies). This is something I really want to do. Hehe! I am excited!

Only a quick drive-by. I've only read what's on this page.

Tacori - so glad that you will be able to do the pro pics for Tessa. Look like Tessa liked the peas. hehe. So cute.

I just got back from my dr. appt. The GD test drink isn't that big, taste like an orange soda but a lot of sweeter. I got so thirsty after drinking it that I drink 24oz of water during the 1hr wait. My dr. says that 130 and under is passing, that seems a little stricter than what I read online. Hope I will pass.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow, all the mommies and mommies-to-be. DH says he want to take me out to dinner tonight for my first Mother's day. =) Tomorrow we are going to DH's grandma's house for a big Mother's Day party with the whole family.

Tgal- I was shocked when i got our hospital bills. We had to pay about $1200 out of pocket. That included the $750 for the private suite. My total bill was $28000 which was for the two hours I was in the hospital before Ian was born, no drugs, not even a birthing room...oh, and the midwife couldnt even wait for the Dr to be in the room...but he still got paid! The topper though was that did not include Ian''s bill. UCLA doesn''t have a nursery, but we paid like $600 a night for his little cart that was in our room. He had some respitory problems and had xrays and some treatments...his bill total was $23k...

GRAND TOTAL OF $51k for a natural birth, and treatments to Ian that he didnt need because it turned out they were all cautionary procedures (teaching hospital).

tacori- such cute tessa pics. she is such a doll. Ian ate in his bumbo for the longest time, but is now in the high chair. its still messy. he really wants to suck the spoon like a bottle!

Q, good luck! I didn't think the orange drink was that bad either. I am sure you will pass.

MsF, how funny she sucks on the spoon too! Today I fed her totally nude, in her bumbo, in our bathtub. That way we could rinse her off totally right away. Worked well. I did get my high chair
36.gif
but we still have to put it together. I can't believe your bill! Wow! TG for insurance!!!!

Thanks SO much to all of your who responded to my question regarding finding out the sex! i love this incredible source of information!!
olivia, i definitely don''t think that i could find out and not DH...too much trouble, and he would NEVER go for it!! you are so funny about the 2 circles vs 3 lines! i hope you get your BFP soon!!
burk: i love your friend''s idea of putting the sex down on a piece of paper! although i''m not sure if i could have enough will power to NOT look at the paper one day!!!
tgal...thanks for your input. the part where you wrote "I have a daughter" is so powerful... what an incredible moment!
diva: thanks for sharing...i can''t wait to hear what you have!!!
msflutter: thanks you also for sharing!! i completely know what you mean on the upcoming fights...um, i mean disagreements! :)
curly: that''s an awesome idea to find out but not tell anyone else!!

i actually was chatting with a couple new moms today (in real life, can you believe it?!) and BOTH did not find out ahead of time and were SO glad about it. i think right now i''m leaning towards it being a surprise, too. and honestly, part of it is to avoid conflict with dh b/c i don''t think i feel as strongly as he does... (believe me though, i will make sure he knows that he''s "winning" this one!!). :) we''ll see though...i might be like curly and totally cave!!! it''s hard...dh is a radiologist and i saw a ton of ultraounds during med school, so we are definitely going to have to turn away when they look down there!!

in other news...bobo, your baby is SOOOO kissable. LOVE the pics of tessa eating the peas. way too cute. so glad to hear that you''re going to get the prof photos...that little one deserves them!! :) mrs salvo, jake is such a cutie too and growing so quickly!!

one other thing (hopefully not tmi!!)...had a bit of a scare this morning... dh and did the deed (so to speak) and i had some SERIOUS bleeding afterwards!! we didn''t realize at first until i got up and i had seriously soaked through the sheets and mattress cover. it continued to drip for a few minutes in the toilet and then slowed down. i''ve got just a tiny bit of brown spotting now. i''m just about 14 weeks and this is the first time the entire pregnancy that i''ve had any spotting so it definitely freaked us out. we thought about going down to get checked, but eventually decided not too b/c i wasn''t having any pain. anyone else go through anything like this?????

hope all is well!!!

also, thanks for all the info on the hospital costs! it''s so fascinating to see how much they charge. one thing that''s kind of interesting is that even though that''s what the hospital bills, they probably never see anything close to that amount! at least in private practice, what we bill insurance companies is WAY less than is actually collected. it makes no sense!!

Not much time...grandpa had quadruple bypass surgery yesterday (unexpected) so things have been pretty crazy. Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Didn't have time to read everything but....

Tacori~Tessa is too cute all naked in her bumbo eating big girl foods!!! So glad your mom is going to help out with the pro pics! And, what highchair did you end up getting? I still haven't gotten one for Tayva, but we have time I guess.

All this talk of hospital bills is crazy. Mine was like $20,000 as well. I think we paid $1200 out of pocket. Crazy when you see the breakdown of what everything costs. Thank goodness for insurance!

Q~I'm sure you passed your GD test with flying colors.

Happy Mothers' Day everyone!! Hope everyone has a great day!!

Oh my goodness-I have so much to catch up on!

Congratulations and welcome to Pave! I can't remember if I've said that but it bears repeating!

I'm sorry if I forget anyone...

Love the photos of the babies, Tgal, MrsS, Jas, Bobo and Lili! PS has some gorgeous bubbies! Great ideas with the signs and posing with the teddy!

Great baby bellies! Thanks for posting-at the moment I just look fat and/or bloated so I am looking forward to hopefully getting a cute belly like you ladies! I can't remember who said something about the constant belching, but I hear ya woman! I am just a sexy BEAST (and I think we should emphasize beast) at the moment between the reflux and the bloating and the pregnancy 'glow' which in my case is bright red!!

Tacori, LOVE the photos of Tessa sitting and wrestling with the peas! She is just so gorgeous! Why does baby food always smell soooo bad??

Curly, yay for a great ultrasound!

Lisa, I'm sorry I can't actually remember what happened at implantation because I wasn't expecting to get preggo that cycle. I hope you have a good result from your 2ww!

Jackiejas, yay for two boys! LOVE the names!

Diva- yay for the 20 week, I'm hanging out for that! I'm glad the second GTT went well.

Jen, you must be getting close!!

Kay I looove that nursery furniture!

Curly, congrats on a first birthday! Miss Lily looks like she had a great day!

*Funny story detour-I was at the supermarket the other night and was in the *ahem* feminine products aisle. My mind was wandering a bit and I thought 'Hang on, I haven't bought tampons in ages. I wonder if I'm running low? Maybe I should get some!' It took me a couple of seconds (wait for it, wait for it)-Gemma, you're preggo and won't need tampons for a few months! D'oh!* Anyhoo......

Pave and NF, I'm a doctor and I was TOTALLY FREAKING OUT (actually, kind of still am) for the whole first trimester. There are all sorts of horror stories out there-most of the time people don't start blogs that say 'Well, hubby and I had sex a couple of times, we got pregnant, I felt a bit sick but everything went really well, hooray!'. There are a lot of sad stories out there and a lot of misinformation! I totally understand about you wanting to be reassured and I think that's normal (I hope so, anyway, coz I'm in the same boat
2.gif
). NF, I did have an ultrasound-and then freaked out until the next one that something had happened in the meantime. I did post about the risk of miscarriage being super low if you get to 8 weeks and see a good CRL (crown rump length) and a heart beat-I think it's like <3%. So if you can hang on until 8 weeks then you might be a bit more reassured!

LIA, I'm sorry you've had a scare-that sounds like a good reason to see your doc.

On the topic of finding out the sex we are in a similar boat-except I want to be surprised and DH wants to find out.

(Short rant coming up, sorry) My mother in law (who is a master at manipulation) told my husband's extended family that we were expecting WAY earlier than we were planning to. Plus, we literally hung up the phone from speaking to her, picked it up to call his only sibling and it was engaged-she was sharing 'her' good news. Of course, my getting upset about this results in her being hurt because 'I was just so excited'. DH didn't get to tell any of his family other than his mother that he is having his first child. So I'm pretty disinclined to tell her what we are having-we got phone calls from friends of the family who I had never met when I was 6 weeks pregnant congratulating us-um, thanks, but you really aren't supposed to know! (Rant over-thanks for listening!) So I have broached the idea of finding out, but keeping it a secret just the two of us-which I still don't want to do. I'm interested to hear all of the feedback on this-thanks to those who spoke up!

Okay, it's time for my nana nap so I will finish there-more later!

ETA Burk, I hope your grandpa is okay!

on the medical bills! I haven't worked in the US but I'm guessing the medical defense and insurance companies see a lot more of that cash than the midwives and OBs!! That's just crazy $!

I just had to add-I bought a nappy bag! The lining is light blue but I wear a lot of black and grey so this will hopefully go with a lot of my current wardrobe-and when I go back to work I will still be able to carry it to deliver bubs to childcare without feeling too mumsy. I''ve been looking out for this pattern for ages.

I just wanted to pop in and say Happy Mother''s day you wonderful Mom''s!!!!!!

HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY

I almost killed Charlie this morning when he ''accidently'' set the alarm for 7am!!!! Co went to bed exhausted at 8:30 last night--i finally fell alseep at 11:30 just in time for him to wake for his 12am feed--then was up the normal every 3 hours to feed-i had just fallen alseeo at 6:30 only to be violently awaken (Co too!) at 7.
This would not have been a big deal execpt that i''ve had major insomia this week and need every min of sleep i can get!
At least he made up for it with a nice mothers day brunch for me.

anyone else have sleeping difficulties despite the typical wake-ups for feedings? I have so much trouble falling asleep and can''t nap at all during the day (used to pre-baby)

Tandog--i think what you are feeling is perfectly normal--i would admit it to your friend--not in a "i can''t believe you spend so much time with the baby" way, more like a kind " i miss you and why don''t we take the baby for a walk so we can chat" way.
Believe me, she probably misses her old life a bit too--i was out for lunch yesterday with the baby and it was so hard to concentrate on the adult converstation--i wanted to, but could not, i just worried the whole time that he would freak out before the meal even arrived or something.

Tgal--43$ K for a c-section--yeeks! Taxes cover healthcare here so i don''t know how much a vaginal birth is, no bills--seems crazy tho--what do ppl with no insurance do?!!!!
6.gif

Re: knowing the gender--even tho i had a vaginal birth i did not see DH''s face when they announced ''it''s a boy!" i was so concentrated on pushing, nothing else mattered, the nurses set up a mirror but i didn''t see a thing, so you didn''t miss out on that.

forget who asked, Diva?? but even though i was surprised by having a boy, i am still glad it was a surprise on the day of the birth--yes, it is a surprise even when you have an US and it is announced, big difference is, you didn''t just go thru the marathon of birth--for me, having that big moment after such a hard day is what motivated me.
However, if you really want one gender and think you need time to ''warm up'' to the idea of a boy or girl then maybe bonding would be easier if you knew ahead of time--i am not sure.

Hope everyone has a great mother''s day!!!!!!

HAPPY MOTHER''S DAY! i hope you are all doing something wonderful and special!!

gemma! glad you posted...i''ve been wondering where you have been. sounds like things are going well...how far along are you now?
also, what kind of doctor are you? love the tampon story...i totally did that a few weeks ago too! it''s funny how these things that have been ingrained in our minds for so long are hard to forget!

we ended up not calling my doctor regarding my bleeding/spotting (which is STILL going on slightly). we thought about it and realized that in any case, there wouldn''t be too much she could/would do, aside from telling us to go get checked out at the ER (ugh...i refuse to go to the ER unless i am truly very very ill!!!) then out of the blue, dh was like, "would having an u/s make you feel better?" um...DUH, of COURSE it would. and then he says, "well, let''s go over to the hospital and i can just scan you really quickly." we had never thought about doing that before!! the perks of a radiologist husband!! so after dinner last night around 9:30 we took a trip to the hospital and got to see the little one again. it was great b/c my parents are in town and they got to see the scan too. needless to say, everything looked fine and the little guy was just as active as usual! fortunately there was a tech there who didn''t mind doing the scan, but i was kind of hoping to see DH try to do it (he does neuro radiology and hasn''t worked an ultrasound probe since residency over 8 years ago!!).

has anyone seen eph around lately? i saw that thread about her cousin which was so sad...hope she''s still doing ok!!

LIA: How lucky are you that your DH can just do that! Makes me wish I had married a Dr. instead of a professor!

And I was wondering where Eph was too. Ephemery if you are out there, we are all thinking of you and hoping you are doing well!!!

And a big HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all of you! I''ve spent the past few days in bed as much as possible, m/s has hit hard lately.

HAPPY MOTHER''S DAY to all the mommies and mommies to be!!!

Tacori, T is such a cutie. Love the eating pictures! I am glad your parents will help out of the pictures. That''s great news!

lisa, I had some whitish discharge before implantation bleeding. I hope you get your BFP soon!

LIA, sorry about the spotting. I''ve heard/read you can spot after sex. I had some spotting at 8 weeks and they said not to have sex for a week so you may want to do the same. I am glad you were able to get an u/s in so you don''t have to worry. It''s always reassuring to see your little!

Jas12, I am sorry you were woken up early today but am glad Charlie made it up. I hope you get some good sleep soon!

Eph, thinking of you! I hope you check in soon!

NF, I hope your m/s gets better soon.

It is crazy how much deliveries cost! I am pretty sure my insurance covers most of the birth if not 100% but now I want to find out for sure.

I am not looking forward to the GD test. I always thought the drink was really nasty but hearing from so many of you that it''s not that bad and tastes like sweet orange soda makes me feel a little better. I forget if it was someone here or if I read this somewhere else, but did any of you take home the drink to refrigerate it before drinking? I heard if it''s very cold it goes down easier.

HAPPY MOTHER''S DAY TO ALL THE MOMMIES AND MOMMIES-TO-BE!
35.gif
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Snlee, my dr. office had the GD drink refrigerated already. They asked if I wanted it cold or room temperature. I said it doesn''t matter, and the nurse gave me a cold one. I was able to drink it within a minute.
