Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Ebree, not sure what your insurance is like but just know if you request one and your doc actually gives you one you might have to pay out of pocket. Here is the way I look at it. *If* something were to happen there is nothing you can do about it. Just relax and enjoy this time. I had my first u/s at 6 weeks and didn''t have my second until 20 weeks. Most don''t have one at all until 20 weeks.

Tacori -- when it came to babyproofing I found that my kids kind of led the way -- I was home most of the day with them and my ex-husband and i worked split-shifts so that we could raise them at home, so the boys were home all the time and babyproofing was necessary. Just not in all the ways we expected! If they got into it and it was a problem, we took precautions... you know Tessa and what she might find interesting, so I''d start there (we started with getting cleaners into higher places and deciding, like you, which rooms they could and couldn''t go into at first) HTH -- and GL! it''s SO fun to watch them grow!
jen

Thanks Jen. I am a SHAM so we will need some proofing. Some of my friends say that their kids were never curious (about opening cabs or trying to crawl in the fireplace). I agree I should just take her lead.

Tacori,

That is great advice Jen gave. My daughter was so good. She never was curious about anything. The two grandson''s OMG. We had to child proof everything in our house. When they would come to visit or stay, I had to watch them like a hawk. They were rascals. Andrew tried to put a raisin up his nose.

Linda

Linda, I have heard boys are MUCH more curious and daring than girls. We shall see!

Thanks for all the congrats ladies! It feels great to know we''ll be having a boy and the pregnancy seems more real now. I woke up super excited knowing that in 5 months, I''ll have a son!

Tacori, I didn''t bother asking for a rain check. You are supposed to be able to special order the glider as well but the guy didn''t even mention that option. At that point, I didn''t even bother asking about a rain check. Yay for Tessa crawling!

qtiekiki, thanks for posting about the recall! That is actually the car seat we bought! Darn recalls! My DH started freaking out about what to do now. It was pretty funny. He''s the type of person who hears about an issue and wants to take action right away! I told him to clam down - we have lots of time to figure out what to do. Tacori and anyone else, if you find out any more info about the recall, please keep us posted!

EBree, congrats again girl! Welcome! I am so happy for you! Apparently, I''m not better at guessing the baby''s sex (even my own!) than you. I think I''m 0/3 or 0/4 too! My first u/s picture looks like yours, a blurry blob. It is great to see that heart beating though!
30.gif
I think at 6w4d, our little one was .51cm. But don''t worry about your peanut measuring a few days behind. It may have been conceived or implanted a little later than you thought.

TGal, yay for shopping for boy stuff! We had a 30% BRU coupon for clothes last weekend and bought a few items. Some boy stuff and some girl stuff. I actually liked the boy stuff more so it works out that we''ll be returning the girl stuff. Girl stuff is really darn cute though! I am jealous of all you girl mommies. No pig tails and dresses for us this time around. And I went to a Sanrio warehouse sample sale a few weekends ago and bought a boyish alarm clock...so that works out too!

jen, yup I broke the girl epidemic on PS and with our families too. Lots of girls and the first born is usually a girl. But I fit right in with my department at work. Most of the 08 babies are boys. 20+ babies born/to be born and twice as many boys as girls. I am glad you re feeling better.

Regarding childbirth preparation classes, did you take a Lamaze or breastfeeding class before you delivered? I am not sure if it''s worth it. I wouldn''t mind taking the classes but in my area all the classes cost money. The breastfeeding one cost $35 and Lamaze cost $165/couple. I''m thinking about skipping the classes and just reading about it. There''s a drop-in breastfeeding support group that''s free and I may go that after he''s born.

Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

Tacori-

You bring up a good point about our insurance- I'm not sure how many u/s are covered. Since I'm getting one at 12w (NT scan?), I might be able to wait until then, but the worrier in me thinks paying out of pocket for one at 8-9w would be worth it!

snlee-

Thank you!

.51cm at 6w4d? Peanut measured .50cm at what I thought was 6w6d (6w4d LMP), so just a bit behind! The tech said depending on how she measured baby, she could have added a day or two...measuring something so tiny, I can't imagine it's that exact!

Do you have any names picked out for your little boy?

Ebree, the swimmers can survive up to 72 hours so you don''t know when implatation happened. I am a worrier too but there are some things you just have no control over.

RE classes: DO, DO, DO take a BFing class if you plan to BF. Trust me it is hard and they are very helpful. We also took "taking care of baby," "infant cpr" and "prepared childbirth."

Tacori beat me to this...

EBree, I know it''s waaaay easier said than done, but Tacori is right...some things you do not have control over. Peace of mind may seem possible with an earlier u/s, but the worry starts right back again. The best thing you can do is not stress. Stress can do unbelievable things to your body...it put my mom in the emergency room when Amelia was only one week old because she SO wanted to be there for me and help me out.

Hi You guys. Sorry I have been mia for a while. I have been reading but too tired to post! You all are amazing. I am so excited for all the good news here!
Snlee-Hooray for a boy- it sounds likeyou are haviing a great time shopping. I think I will venture out today.

Ebree-welcome again. I had my first u/s two weeks ago and it didn''t look like much but they grow fast.

Jen- I hope you are feeling better soon. That sounds terrible

tacori- I was checking on smtr for your pp yesterday- is it coming soon?

Well, my dh and I are on vacation so I can''t stay on long. We are in palm desert- boy is it hot. I am hoping we are heading over to the outlets- I would like to see if there are any maternity stores-

Oh I almost forgot to tell you guys- we had our first official appt yesterday- my 8 wk u/s looked great! I was so happy but was kind of scared so I wasn''t really taking it all in if that makes sense. She showed me 2 arms, 2 legs, head- I forgot to even look for the heartbeat, but my husband saw it- and the spine. It was such a relief and I have been feeling a little less anxious each day. My Dr. seems to be good- she is relaxed and said tell her anything that comes up- if I need extra u/s for reassurance she says thats ok! One thing I didn''t like so much was that there are 12 drs in the practice and I won''t meet any of them- but they have a system of one doc from practice being oncall in hospital certaindays- so chances are that my dr wont'' deliver me!! Boo hiss!!! I never thought about this before but it doesn''t make me too happy.
Hope you all are having a great weekend and sorry for not being able to reply to more ppl individually-

MsF - Look like you had a busy weekend. The pic of Ian''s first kiss is adorable; only 8 months old and already breaking hearts.

Jas - You always get Cohen in such animated pic. Love that big smile.

MrsM - Glad you are back home and doing great. Can''t wait for the pics.

Snlee - Congratulations on your baby boy!!! His little mouth looks so cute in the profile u/s.

Tacori - I''m looking forward to the pic of the boon flair. I would wait to baby proof too because some babies are just not as curious and some just learn to stay away from things.

Ebree - Congratulations!!!

. Like others said, don''t worry about measuring couple days late. The HB is a good sign. If you can, just wait for your 12 wks u/s because there is not much you can do right now.

Snlee - Yeah don''t worry too much about recall just yet since there''s no details. I don''t think all the carseats/bases are defective. They have to find out which ones have problems.

I think childbirth class is worth it if you don''t do any researches/readings on childbirth & labor or if you are a more visual person. We are taking the class for DH, but our class is only $65/couple for 5 childbirth, 1 childcare, and 1 BFing classes at our hospital.

pavelover - Yay for a great u/s. Will you get a chance to meet some of the drs for your appts? or will you always see your dr at your appt? It would bum me out too if I see the same dr all the time except for the delivery.

So my dr said I passed the 3 hr GTT with flying colors. Yay! I gained 21.5 lbs at 31 wks ; he said I am weighing a little ahead, but it''s ok. And here''s my belly pic I took yesterday at 30w6d. Sorry that it''s bare belly. Snlee, ephem & jackiejas - You ladies thought you were big. Just look at me. hehe.

Just a drive-by, but had to say CONGRATS and WELCOME, Ebree!!!!
36.gif
I actually thought about you the other day b/c I was in Boston Common, and I saw a couple with a pug, and I actually thought "I wonder if that''s Ebree?" -- do you even live in MA? For some reason, I was thinking that you do ...

Also, Qtiekiki, you are the definition of adorable! Too cute, lady!

Snlee -- I took childbirth prep classes and found it to be a bonding experience with at-the-time-hubby, but didn't really use anything I learned, fwiw... with the bf'ing classes , i think that learning as much as you can about it it important, but i never took a class -- i was one of the lucky ones who had kids who just "got it" and i made more than enough milk... since i've known other people who had a tougher time, this might be the class I'd recommend. Also, make sure you get current in infant CPR and a newborn class can be especially helpful if you or DH have no previous baby experience (that was me in my first marriage and i will repeat it with my new DH b/c it was so helpful to me!) I also enjoyed meeting other expecting parents, so i'm glad i did the classes overall...hth...

Q -- you look great!!! you are totally ALL belly (may i please have your butt btw? mine seems to have gained a buddy back there....guess it's having twin envy

kids are masters at getting their little fingers in just about anywhere---they are like ninjas with their stealth speed and radar for unattended doozie-whatsies.
congrats to all the new mommies to be!
emstar.gif

me and the dh have decided to not try, but try--i guess just see what happens approach....thats how my ds got here...anyways i''m definately WAY more nervous this time around. did any of the 2nd time moms feel this way? i feel like i should be relaxed a bit more knowing what the 9 months is all about. i guess ignorance really is bliss....

Ditto! I totally agree. I had an 8 week u/s because of some spotting. If I didn't have the 8 week u/s, I'd have the 6 week and 13 week (NT scan) u/s, like you. It was a big relief to see the baby was okay but the worrying comes right back. There's always something to worry about. Try your best not to. I wouldn't request and pay out of pocket for an additional u/s.

Wow Tacori
Another milestone for Tessa.
How cute that she''s doing the army crawl

You''ve got yourself an automatic mop

for your hardwood floor.
My nephew was doing that too...it''s the funniest thing.

And yay for your push present.

Can''t wait to see it....

Congrats and welcome Ebree!!
Glad to see you over here.
Lots of sticky dust to you.

TGal

Yup, those are the tanks from Target.
Too bad they don''t have more colors....so I only have 3, which is really not enough since she''s spitting up on me at least 2x a day.

Ha, I usually let her wear her onesie or the kimnono shirts, but she spits up on those and daddy was too tired to do laundry.
So I grab whatever is availble.

I have a question for you ladies. My niece is due to have her baby any day now. My SIL told me she is having a mid-wife and she is having the baby under water. What the heck does that mean??? Is it safe??

Cute belly

Probably the reason your DH thinks you are large is because you are so slim everywhere else!
Wow, can''t believe you and Diva are almost to single digit weeks!!
Enjoy and cherish those movements, cuz you''ll definitely miss them once your little girl is out.
Can''t wait to see another explosion of new babies.

I took the lamaze too.
Didn''t really use any of the info from those classes, but it was fun going to them because I get to
see how the other ladies bellies grow in the course of the class

pave, Congrats on a great u/s! Buying baby stuff is lots of fun! Did you get anything today? Have fun on your vacation!

qtiekiki, Congrats on passing your GD test! Yay! You look great girl! All belly! I hope I look as good as you when I'm 31 weeks!

NYC, good luck! Lots of baby dust your way!

Tacori, I can't wait to see your PP!

lili, EBree - We've decided on a name for our baby boy but we are keeping it to ourselves. We're trying to keep it a secret from family and friends so I don't want to post it yet since this is a public forum (I have to remind myself that because I always forget!).

Q,
You look amazing!!! You are all baby, just adorable!!! Glad all is well.
36.gif

Linda,
I have watched those shows on TLC where the baby is born under water, I think it's great. Most of the episodes I saw have them give birth in a tub, as in a bath tub.

Not for me, but am past that age, hehe.

LOL Lisa, so am I. I am glad it will be safe for both her and her baby. Had me worried there for awhile.

Thank you.

Linda

Re: classes
Only 1 person I know liked the lamaze classes.
All the others, including myself, think that it is a waste of time and money.
DH kept complaining that they probably could have condensed classes down to 1 class.
You can get most of the info regarding labor and delivery from a book (or off the internet these days).
I don''t know how your classes are setup, but mine was 5 3-hr long classes.
First hour was info and discussion.
Second half of the classes is going through some of the breathing techniques.
I found the techniques corny and was just not me, so didn''t even use it during the delivery.

The child safety and child care are useful though, so I''d take those.
The breastfeeding class? I think it is probably better to go to clinic after you have your baby --
since then you can actually do it.

Jen
Wow, 5 lbs in a day?
Take care and hope you recover soon.

Ella

your new avi.
So cute.

Pave, my PP should be here next week
36.gif
So nervous! So excited!

Q, you are so tiny and adorable!!! Your doctor is nuts. Glad you don''t have GD!

Jen, from someone who had a tough BF road you are SO lucky! It was a lot of work but worth it. I thought the class was also helpful knowing how much to feed, dealing with problems, etc...

NYC, thank you for baby proofing advice. I just figured out attaching a gate to the bottom of our steps will be difficult. Not sure what it will "stick" too. Do gates come in diagonal form??? Good luck TTC (or not hehe) My friends with older kids say you just *know* when you are ready again. I just KNOW I''m not
2.gif

Lili, it''s funny how she has to "correct" her crawl with her legs otherwise she would just go in a circle. She needs to learn how to move her left arm! I LOVE those Target tanks. I still wear them....how embarrassing. They have a light pink one too.

curly, I have a question for you. Do you like your skip hop playspot? I noticed it in one of your pics and LOVE the way it look. But it has gotten some bad reviews. What are you thoughts?

Q, this is just for you
2.gif
Here is my beautiful Boon Flair...

Boon_high-empty.jpg

She was NOT in a good mood when I took this! Here is what it looks like with a baby in it. Yes, I feed her in just a diaper (she just downed some sweet potatoes). It says it holds up to 50 lbs. I babysat my friend''s 18 month old (30 lbs, he''s a football player in the making) and he wanted to sit in it to watch TV. It was so funny.

boon_high-w-T.jpg

I missed so many cute baby pics while I was away! Lili, Curlygirl, Ella, Tacori, Bobo, Burk Mrs. Mitchell, Jas12, and others; your baby's are sooooo CUTE
