Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

regalada, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Can''t wait to hear your whole story and "meet" Isabelle!!! So happy for you--hope you''re feeling well.

jackie, you look FABULOUS! What a great belly and I honestly don''t think you look huge. I have a girlfriend who is carrying a singleton, is due on Sept. 14 and she looks bigger than you do. Of course I didn''t tell her that but I was kinda shocked. So don''t you worry, missy! You''re doing great!!!!

jen, I totally feel your pain with the name issues but it sounds like you''re almost there!! I like the idea of charms with the babies'' names for your bday gift--so sweet!

ephemery, I''ve never had round ligament pain or BH so I have no advice on either one! Just keep drinking tons of water and it can''t hurt to put a call in to your OB if you''re really concerned. I''m the same way with the movements, I feel her every now and then--sometimes she makes her presence known more severely than others though!! My whole stomach jumped during a meeting last week while I was talking and I think most of the men in the room nearly fainted!!!
3.gif
And she has definitely played the remote game with me. DH thinks it''s hysterical!

janine, put the remote on your belly and watch it move around as the baby kicks, punches, etc. The things we preggos have to do to entertain ourselves...

Regalada -CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I LOVE her name and can''t wait to read your birth story/see pics!

Eph -- I think it''s worth putting a call in to make you feel better. BH''s happen because the uterus contracts to readjest itself, so it''s typical to have them when you change position. But they usually don''t last very long...that would be my only concern there. I have had a LOT of BH''s from way too early on in this pregnancy (IMO) and my doctor isn''t at all concerned about it, even with twins (it''s more common to have a lot with twins, though) -- the main thing he mentioned was that if i have more than about 6 in an hour -- not just for one hour but consecutively -- and i can''t get them to stop with water/feet up, to definitely call to be checked and be on the safe side. HTH! Thanks for your input on the name issue, btw!

Curly -- thanks -- it sounded like DH was open to the idea of the charms, too, we''ll see.... how''s everything going with you?

NF -- thanks, I think Marina is a good compromise too ;) I completely agree with you on the name/ethnicity thing, just was wondering if i was way off base feeling that way... how are *you* feeling? Just curious, have you had any gender dreams?

Tacori -- i agree with you on "matching" the name to the surname -- funny about the russian names b/c i love alot of those too, but i scrapped ''em for that same reason :) Tessa got lucky with such a great name, though, so it worked out :)

Janine -- ok, my bad, i thought it was Jackie''s birthday i missed and it was yours -- happy very belated birthday! hope it was great!

Burk -- I can''t believe someone had the nerve to say "poor girl" to you about tayva''s name! ugh! I think her name is great, personally and FWIW :)

Our crib bedding came in yesterday (a few pieces came last week, but the biggest part came yesterday) and I was so excited, but then when i picked it up the colors seemed to be quite a bit different than they looked online -- i hated not getting to see it in person first! DH is on the fence about it b/c it''s a lot more pink than we originally thought (it''s edged with pink and lime green plaid, but it looked like an orange plaid online -- which offset the pink/green/lavender patches) and I am sort-of too. I like it because it goes with our Hawaiian theme and was inexpensive (considering it''s mostly a decorative item, it''s not where i want to spend the most money!), and i''m not finding anything i like better right now except much more expensive ones (figures!)
20.gif
I''ll share pics when i decide what to do -- is the nursery thread still alive? I''m going to have to go search for it. Either way, I''m happy to be making some progress! How are the rest of you guys doing with your nurseries (those that have them)?
jen

sk8rjen: Thanks for asking! I'm doing well...starting to "pop" a bit more...it seems like my stomach has grown a few inches in the last week alone! I need to start measuring it so I can be more scientific...hehe.

I have been having gender dreams...all about two little girls. So we'll see...my hunch is two girls, but I obviously could be COMPLETELY off (and biased because I would LOVE two girls!). I am really hoping to find out at my next appt, we've been getting ultrasounds all the time because the babes have identical HB's so we are never sure if we are hearing one or both, so I am really hoping to convince my doc to look for gender at the next appt! I'll be just about 16 weeks, so it's possible...we'll see...whatever gender(s) they are, we just want to know!

And I totally don't think you're off base on the name/ethnicity one...a lot of people think it's a little odd...you are not alone! And tell your DH that as far as nicknames, if YOU guys make her nickname Marie, other people will follow.

Jas: I agree, you look great! All belly!

Thanks Kaleigh! I thought it was very rude.

Eph~I would call your doc just to be sure.

Jen~Thank you! I think her name is unique and cool and totally fits her. I do understand that some people don''t like it, but just thought she should keep it to herself.
21.gif

congrats regalada..can''t wait for pics of you new little one...

Burk, that comment was very rude! Some people need to think before they speak!
20.gif

Eph, call your doctor. I hope it''s nothing. My doctor said to call if I ever felt BH more than 4 times a day, and it seems you have been?

Curly, how funny about your belly jumping in a meeting! She must be moving around A LOT if your belly moved enough for people to notice!

NF, has you started taking belly pictures? You should post a picture.

I haven''t tried playing the remote control game. I''m waiting to feel movements more regularly. I feel him frequently through the day but sometimes I don''t feel him for an hour or two. Last week I started feeling movements on the top of my belly (above my belly bottom) too, which is exciting. Last night, as I was lying in bed, he kicked really hard! I had my hand on my stomach but was relaxed and wasn''t expecting to feel a huge movement. It scared the crap out of me!
6.gif
I think I actually jumped. The kick was so hard and to feel it on the inside and outside was probably more startling. My whole belly probably moved but I wasn''t looking.

happy monday everyone! i''m a happy girl b/c i now OFFICIALLY live at home with dh again. so nice. and i''m not working until september! (although i do have a HUGE boards certifying exam in august that i plan to study for like it was a full time job!).

thanks for the input on the abdominal pain. i did do a quick run in to the doc on friday. of course by then the pain was pretty much gone! i still think it might have been gas. AND, thanks eph, b/c it also sounds strikingly similar to the pain you had! i thought it might be stretching round ligament stuff too. the only bad thing about going to the dr is getting on that darn scale. i''m officially up 10lbs at 21 weeks, which i guess is just about average? i just hate seeing those numbers on the scale!!!

Regalada: CONGRATS!!! so excited for you. cannot wait to see pics!!!

Eph: i''ve also had some of the BHs, although not as many as you...i definitely agree with the water drinking and rest idea!!

Curly: that is hilarious about the meeting!!!

Jen: i''m off to find the nursery thread b/c i want to see PICS. i totally hear you on the less-expensive bedding... i haven''t really started to look yet, but whenever i see something i always get a little bit of sticker shock. i have to pay WHAT for the little one to pee/poop/vomit on this?!?!!

Burk: i LOVE the name tayva. i cannot believe someone would say that!!

NF: glad to hear you''re feeling well. can''t wait to see a belly shot once you really start to pop! when is the 16 week u/s? sooo exciting...

QT: where are you??

Janine: any new gushes? i hope not!!!

Finally one bit of sad news that i need some advice on. I have a friend (well, I guess more of an acquaintance, although whenever I see her, i really enjoy her!) who just lost her baby. She was about 3 weeks behind me and just found out last week, so I think she was around 17 weeks. I had just run into her a few days before and she looked great! We were having fun comparing our pregnancies and laughing about how we could deliver on the same day.... It is so heartbreaking and scary; makes you really appreciate what a miracle a healthy baby is... In any case, do you think I should send a card?? I''d like to, and if (god forbid) I was in that situation, I think I would appreciate it, but I don''t know how she will react.... Thoughts??

LIA, just wanted to jump on quickly and say I'm so sorry about your friend. We had some friends that were pregnant a week behind us, but miscarried early on. I didn't want to send flowers, since flowers die and that seemed negatively symbolic. So we sent them a simple potted peace lily plant through a flower-delivery place, not knowing how they'd feel about it, but they were SOOOO grateful. They still talk about how touched they were, and have it in their living room. So that might be an idea? For an acquaintance that you're not SUPER close to though, I do think a card would be a really sweet gesture.

ETA -- Glad your pain (whatever it was!) lightened up and you're feeling better.

Also, before I run out the door, just wanted to let everyone know that I called my OB and talked to him about the Braxton-Hicks... he is THE MOST laidback doctor in the history of all doctors, so his response was what I expected: "Don''t worry about it, if you want to come in for some monitoring, we can do that... otherwise just get some rest and drink some water." So I''m going to keep an eye on it and try to track them a little more closely to make sure there''s no "pattern" to them, but otherwise sounds like I don''t need to worry at this point. Thanks to everyone for all your feedback!! You''re the best.
4.gif

sk8rjen: thanks for the b''day wishes!!

eph: my doctor is v. laid back as well. I''m wondering what would make her be concerned sometimes!

curly: ahh, that''s what the remote game is! I''ll have to try it but I dont'' think my kicks are strong or regular enough. I''m SO jealous of you active little girl and stomach moves! I''m not sure if I have an anterior placenta or something--I''ll have to ask my laid back doctor--but I''d assumed if she didn''t say so, then I didn''t. Hope you stayed cool this past weekend--I had a friend visit, and was roasting in the City, but was happy to take random people up on their offers to let me sit! Ahh, it''s nice seeing some chivalry in NYC--too bad you have to be 6 mo''s preggers to get it!
emwink.gif

lover in athens: no more gushes thank goodness! I''m so sorry to hear about your friend--it''s so hard hearing thigns like this.

Not much else new, starting to plan my shower (behind the scenes, hehe) with my sister. In laws don''t seem to be too involved, but otherwise is going well. It''lll be small, but I''m still looking forward to it. We''ve bought all the big stuff at this point: glider, crib, dresser, stroller, bedding.

LIA, I''m sorry to hear about your friend. I think a card would be a really nice gesture.

janine, happy belated birthday!!! Hope you had a wonderful day! What glider did you go with? We haven''t bought one. I think we''re probably just going to hold off since it''s not a necessity and see if if I want it later.

I tried to bump the nursery thread for you ladies but it is closed! I am sure Andrey will open it if you ask him.

Lia, my neighbor lost her baby at 5 months along (the baby was VERY unhealthy and had serious problems) and someone got her a wind chime. They told her when she hears it it is Ava saying she is okay. Anyways, I thought that was really sweet and I know it means a lot to her.

emp, I got really bad BHs too.

Jen, thank you. I hope she will love her name. Took me a long time to like mine.

snlee: thanks! We got a glider from target (Shermag Sleigh Glider in Natural). It was a great price plus free shipping and strong reviews. I decided on it after looking at everything from Dutalie to Best Chairs to Jardine. Basically, I figured I'd need it b/c we have a small apt and the couch won't be enough (and in fact DH and I on couch is also getting crowded so I might need that chair soon!). Also at that price, I didn't feel too guilty. Dutalier was too big for our apt, Best Chair also too big and more than we needed. Jardine had awful reviews. Hope that helps!

Hey everyone, hope you had great weekends! Congrat Regalada if I didn't say it yet!

Quick question: How soon in pregnancy does the body's blood volume/water valume increase?

ETA: LIA I think that a card of a plant like eph suggested would be a lovely gesture of condolence for your friend.

Congratulations Regalada!
36.gif
Welcome Isabelle Mariana!
35.gif
(I love that name.) I can''t wait to see picture and hear details once you are feeling up to it.

Congratulation Regalada! I love the name Isabelle. Can''t wait to see pics when you are ready! I hope you guys are all relaxing and enjoying each other(as much relaxing as a new mom can do, anyway)!

Snlee: I we have taken a few pictures...but unfortunately I didn''t take a "before" picture, so unless you knew me before it only looks like I''ve gained a few lbs in the stomach area!!! Not the prettiest sight...so I might wait until it''s a more distinguished bump which at the rate I am going will be very very soon...

Congratulations regalada!!! Can't wait to hear the birth story and see the pic of sweet Isabelle.

Jas - You are all belly and look great.

ephe - I still don't think I've felt any BH, so I don't know how uncomfortable it could be. Hope the BH slows down for you, so you won't be so uncomfortable.

jen - That's a bummer with the bedding. Hopefully you will find something else you like at a reasonable price or grow to like the one you got. We are getting close to finishing the nursery; hopefully it'll be done in a couple more weeks. I'll post pics in the nursery thread once we are finished.

NF - Good luck trying to find out the gender at your next u/s. At 16 weeks, they can do the gender but they are not as sure.

Burk - I love your DD's name. It's unique. I just don't understand why people think they make rude comments to pregnant ladies and moms. It's a weird phenomenon.

snlee - That's funny he scared you.

LIA - I am here, thanks for asking. We just had been working on the nursery and DH's office. I was up more than 10lbs at 21 weeks, so you are fine. I'm so sorry about your friend. I think it's appropriate to send a card and/or flowers to let her know that you are thinking about her. I am sure she would appreciate it. Just don't expect her to contact/talk to you until she is ready to.

Janine - It's cute that you are helping to plan the shower. I would've done the same thing if my sister/friend was planning me one. I don't really like surprises. hehe.

Tacori - I love the wind chime idea. It's so touching.

I want to post a updated belly pic, but DH forgot to install paint shop on my new-aka-his-old laptop after he wiped out all his stuffs. Since he's been working on the rooms, I haven't bug him about it. Maybe next week.

Like I mentioned in response to Jen, we are almost done with the nursery. We want to steam-wash the carpet, then we'll put all the furniture in place. We should be done after that and I'll post pics then.

As far as the pregnancy, there is just pressure (from the baby's head, I assume). I get tired easier now from all the weight. Other than that, everything is fine. As I mentioned in previous posts (probably many pages back now) that I will get my first internal this sat at my 36 wks appt. So I'll see how I am doing or not doing.
9.gif

I also have an incredible urge to bake cupcake - thanks to trying cupcakes at different bakery (for the baby shower) and the cupcake thread. Now I am considering baking the cupcakes for the baby shower. I just want to bake batches and batches of cupcakes. hehe

Q - I want to eat cupcakes but I know I can''t so bake some and post some pics so I can at least dream!

I need to post some updated belly pics too but it seems I get bigger by the day
32.gif
. The dresser we picked out should be here by the end of the week and then I''ll post some nursery pics. It''s soo cute and I can''t wait. It''s so real now. More real than ever. I have a doc appt tomorrow so hopefully all goes well. The little one is so squirmy and I can feel him/her moving it''s arms and legs a lot during the day. I really got punched in the bladder tonight and oh that was uncomfortable and it sorta hurt! This baby sure is strong!

DH and I went to Target today and I got some nursing bras and tanks. Good prices so I was happy about that. The tanks are super comfy so I''m sure I''ll be living in them when I get home from the hospital.

BTDT moms: how big did "the girls" get when your milk came in? I got 2 bras that are slightly big on me now and I got 2 that pretty much fit. I went from a small B cup to a small C cup so far in my pregnancy.

Diva - I will probably bake some this weekend. I told DH that I have an urge to bake cupcakes when I got home from work today, and he said go bake some. I don't have everything I need, and he even offered to take me to the market right away. I think he wants some cupcakes. hehe.

You are almost there. Are you still working? I go to work, but I feel like I checked out already. I keep telling myself "just 3 more weeks", then I'll be home and just wait for the baby to come.

Moms definitely chime in on the "girls" size when milk comes in. I was a small B too, but now I am already a full D. I can't imagine them getting bigger. I think I am going to end up with saggy B once I finish BFing. So sad.

I just ordered our stroller. YAY!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif

Ok, I was a small C when I got preggo. By the end of the first tri I was a full D (at least
32.gif
). When the milk comes in it is CRAZY but luckily the boobs settle fairly quickly. I hardly wore my nursing bras (lived in the tanks. too bad I wasted $100 on the bras) but I would say they stayed the same from when I was preggo...maybe slightly smaller. Now that I am weened I am back into a C. I just bought real bras the other day!

Eeek!! I am already a Double D, I don''t need any more boobage please! I think it will be scaaary...
32.gif

Hi all -- thanks for the compliments -- I will respond individually tomorrow.

CONGRATS regalada!

28 wk appt today -- on the plus side, got the 3D/4D US which was very cool. Babies are about 2 lb 14 oz give or take. Still boys Still transverse.

On the negative, I''m dilated 1.5 cm already, which made my doctor concerned. I''m now on weekly appts (which she declared immediately after my internal) and if I am any more dilated next Monday, it''s off to the hospital for steroids for the babies to speed their lung development. She didn''t say anything else about other meds (magnesium?) to delay labor, but I think she didn''t want to borrow trouble.

DH is out of the country next week (of course) so thanks goodness Mom and Dad will be on the case!

It was just a little too serious and all. Plus, considering the in-law onslaught this week (OH the stories I will share tomorrow!!!!) I just spent the last few hours cuddling the doggie and giving a very serious lecture to my boys that they are to STAY PUT for at least 4 or 5 more weeks, or I will be very disappointed in them.

So yesterday DH decided that maybe naming baby A what *he* wants is a bad idea that will come back to bite him in the arse like ''every decision'' he makes does... Well, let me just backtrack and tell you that the name he has his heart set on is ''Marie'' -- he says he likes it as a first name and everyone uses it as a middle name. He''s had this in mind since i met him -- at which point i was like ''no way, ever!'' b/c my kids'' names are Gabriel, Adrian and Donovan and how does that fit in at all???? Well, fast forward to now and when we found out it was 2 girls, i said maybe there way a way that it could work. My idea was to come up with a longer name that could shorten to Marie, and that she could be called Marie, but have the option of a less-than-common name as she gets older. I should add that there are lots of ''Marie''s in my family history, so i''ve been ting really hard to warm-up to it. I''m really sorry if anyone is offended right now b/c i don''t *love* that name, but i''m only human -- please don''t take it personally if you are a marie, like the name marie or plan on using it for your kid --- it''s just not up my alley!

Sooooooo --- i came up with Emery and Marina (which was already on my list of names i could deal with), which could both shorten to Marie. He said he thought Marina was ok. So we were getting somewhere last week when we talked about this. As of yesterday, he decided that since i wanted to ''alter'' his name, then i shouldn''t get to name Baby B what i like (which he said he liked once too -- ugh) b/c he didn''t really ''pick'' Marina. Is everyone thoroughly confused here?? SORRY! I really thought i was being a good person to find a way to make *OUR* baby have a name HE wanted that was a decent compromise. I guess it wasn''t a decent compromise after all-- He sees it as manipulation. And for the record i still do not like the name, but it''s the only one he really wants. In the meantime, he has crossed out all but *2* names on *my* list, including the name i came into the relationship always wanting to name a little girl.... am i just up a creek here??? I think these girls will never have names at this rate -- it''s obviously turning into a fight!

ugh ugh ugh ugh *thank you* for letting me vent once again about dh!

OK, throwing this out there, but what about Mariska? My friend in Oz named her girl that and I thought it was pretty. That could definitely be Marie for short.

eph
a bit late, but i had those pesty BH all the time.
it wasn''t as frequent in the early part of the pregnancy.
by 20 wk, i was feeling them regularly, particularly when i''m active -- ie walking, sitting, standing (basically anything in a non-supine position)
i''d get 4 or 5 within the hour. some do last longer than i had expected but i don''t think it''s more than 2 minutes.
like snlee said, my doctor said to call if you get more than 4 within an hour for a couple of hours.
if you are worried, talk to your doctor and he can check your cervix to make sure that it is more dilated.

snlee
9.gif
those kicks can get pretty strong huh?
try standing with your tummy pressed against the sink when you are doing the dishes,
you''d be surprised by how strong the kick can get.....i was actually pushed back when my little one kicked.
enjoy those movements cuz it won''t be long before your little boy comes out.

LIA
my condolences to your friend.
i like eph''s suggestion for a gift.

Diva
isn''t it insane how much your belly can grow.
just when you think your belly is stretched to the limit, it gets a little bigger.
wow, 3 wks....you are so close.
hope you are getting some sleep in these last couple of weeks.

re: target nursing tank.
i love those. got one in all colors.
i practically live in those.
i''m ashamed to say that i even wore it to a wedding
14.gif

re: boob size increase.
mine went up probably one cup size from preggo.
can''t really tell since like i said, i live in those nursing tank
41.gif

the dramatic increase in size in when your milk come in, but then those girls will come back down to a cup size or 2 bigger than preggo for some people.
it''s different for everyone.
so probably best not to buy too many bras until you get BFing down.
honestly, i just wore my pj for the first week just because your boobs are so sore when the milk first come in.

Jen and Erica

Is it possible that your DH''s just are not at all good at coming up with names? My DH is also very good at vetoing...but not so good at coming up with names. When I say that he has ''top names'', these are ALL from my master list of names that I have gotten going through a baby book. I wouldn''t take it personally...I think often men just have a problem visualizing/imagining things, so they aren''t super creative when it comes to finding names.

I think many men have a hard time visualizing anything at all...names included. The very few names my DH has added to the list are all characters in the latest book he is reading.
20.gif

We also have a system where I highlight in red my and DH''s personal favorites and then the other person knows that it''s a favorite and to only veto it if they really really really hate it.

And Jen- If he is vetoing your names with abandon, then feel free to veto his too! You shouldn''t have to live with Marie if he isn''t willing to live with your favorite.
TGuy was pretty opinioned about the guy''s name. So that was our solution...if it was a boy, it would be the name he picked and if it was a girl, it was my choice. Both of us had veto power, but it never came to that. In fact, we came up and agreed with the names in minutes...before we ever even conceived. The problem for us was the girl''s middle name, but even that wasn''t too hard.

Just checking in to say hi! I still read this thread to see how y''all are doing and hope I can offer up any advice I have that''s relevant whenever possible. It''s funny - I feel like this is like Preggo PSers 2.0 now or something b/c it clearly is a jump from the TTC thread. Us old-timers didn''t talk too much about DPO and POAS! You kids with your crazy TTC-speak and your rock and roll
2.gif

Just a quick update on my twin ''stats'' from last week. So I asked at my twins group last night how far people went, and ... two went to 32 weeks, two went to 35 weeks, and two went to 37 weeks. Interesting! And of the 7 of us there (one girl is preggo now), FIVE got preg through fertility treatments!

Funny about whoever said that a baby''s name changes four times before they''re born -- we decided on our names early on and didn''t change them once!

Good luck to everyone with upcoming u/s and tests!
No kidding...I''m reading through this and thinking, POAS? DPO? WTF??! This all just sounds so difficult, hehehe. I just took the damn test, saw that double line and ran with it. Man, I''m OLD SKOOL!!!!

I''ve got some questions for you all--is it customary to not have an u/s after the 20wk one? My dr. says there won''t be anymore unless there''s a complication. I just don''t see how they can truly assess grown, position of baby, etc. without one?
Also, what kind of movement is expected at 26wks? I feel moves here and there, especially at night, but not necessarily every night. Some are kicks (I think), some are wiggles, some just sensations. I never get sick of them though and want more!!
I never saw my baby again (except once when they couldn''t find the heartbeat, and that was only a split second) after the big u/s, which I had at 18 weeks. I was totally bummed. I was scheduled for an u/s on April 1 to see if the baby was approaching 9 pounds.

Of course, I had my 7.2 pound baby ON April 1, so April Fools!!!

Diva - I will probably bake some this weekend. I told DH that I have an urge to bake cupcakes when I got home from work today, and he said go bake some. I don''t have everything I need, and he even offered to take me to the market right away. I think he wants some cupcakes. hehe.

You are almost there. Are you still working? I go to work, but I feel like I checked out already. I keep telling myself ''just 3 more weeks'', then I''ll be home and just wait for the baby to come.

Moms definitely chime in on the ''girls'' size when milk comes in. I was a small B too, but now I am already a full D. I can''t imagine them getting bigger. I think I am going to end up with saggy B once I finish BFing. So sad.

I just ordered our stroller. YAY!!!

Uh Hello....

Have you learnt nothing from myself and Jas12? DO NOT BAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE THAT KID NOW.
