Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

And here are fraternal twins in separate chorionic sacs. I hope I've got the terminology right. Now from what I've read, this could be ID twins (though this pair are not) but two in one sac (unless you just can't see the other sac) can't be fraternal twins.

I'm planning to get the worrying mostly out of my system. It will help after I've talked to the specialist and I find out what the story is. We've exchanged a few e-mails but haven't got to chat on the phone yet. If he says 'I've done dozens of these and rarely lost one!' then I'll be all 'Phew!' Otherwise I just have to get prepared mentally, and then hope for the best.

Hey, now this one looks like two sacs squished together! hope! I can't remember whether the edges of the black blob on mine were round or squidgy looking like this one. So, let's just hope.

Indy sounds like a good plan... when if your next u/s anyways? If you can post pics of your actual little babies I''d love to see it.

Next actual u/s will be on Friday the...25th? When I get back from mom. I will definitely posts pics! Hopefully happy and relieved pics!

But wait a minute, ladies, how do you get a copy? Do you ask the doc to print it? Or does s/he e-mail it to you? I didn''t even ask with the last one.

hey Indy. Congrats on twins! That is crazy. They print out a few for you. I have heard they will fade overtime so we scanned them when we got home.

Thanks Tacori!

Indy, congrats, that''s amazing news!! I just returned from D.C. and missed so much. I had a mini-u/s last week, and the first thing I asked was for her to check and see if there were two there. But nope, it''s just one.

I guess I better go scan the photo if there''s a chance it''ll fade. The nurse printed it out, but there isn''t much to see. Anyway, I just wanted to say congrats and good luck with everything!

Erica, so what''s what? Details! Details! Was there a heartbeat? Did you get to see much?

Ditto!

Hey Indy, I thought you were off today to be with your mom? Or do I have the dates wrong...

I''m leaving tomorrow am. I needed the extra day!

erica, something about the paper they use. I think it takes years. But it would be a shame. At least with your 20 week one. My 6 week one you can''t see anything but a little smudge. So I am not sure we even scanned that one.

Get this: So 2 weeks ago we cracked and told DH`s parents that we were expecting, and they were really happy. We went to dinner with them and it just didn`t feel right to keep it from them, so we told them. They were like, ``Was it planned``
20.gif
LOL!! I think they thought we were going to wait a few more years.

Anyways, we swore my MIL to secrecy and she proudly declared this weekend when we went to dinner that she hasn`t told a soul, even though she had to listen to TWO family members brag about their upcoming grandbabies (some of DHs cousins are expecting around the time we are!). Anyways, MIL shows up at my place to pick me up for dinner--we were meeting our hubbys for dinner at their golf course--and she says, ``Oh look what I bought for DHs cousin`s baby! And, well, I was in the store and I had to get something for OUR baby too!` She bought a bunch of onesies, some receiving blankets, and a cute little toy that snaps onto a stroller.

Very sweet, but I was so not ready for baby presents! Aaaahhhhh! WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!
32.gif

Okay, I am going back to my denial for at least another 4 weeks.

Tacori, thanks for the further explanation. My 7 wk scan is pretty nondescript, but it''s kind of cute because she drew a line to guesstimate the size (1.2cm-ish). I guess I''ll scan it later on, once I have more u/s prints.

Indy and DD, the meeting went really well, although I didn''t ask too many questions. The nurse thought everything looked fine, but they did some blood tests for various preliminary things. I haven''t heard the results, so right now I''m assuming everything came back normal.

The u/s machine isn''t very fancy because you''re supposed to go to the hospital for a proper u/s. All I could see was a black cavity with a nubbin hanging out on one side, but boy, the heartbeat was really fluttering like crazy! I''ve been feeling so ambivalent about this pregnancy, but seeing the heartbeat really struck a nerve.

DD, it''s so cute that your MIL said ''Our baby''. I''m still in mild denial, although the nausea makes it difficult to NOT think about what''s going on in my body. The summer is going by waaay too quickly, and there''s so much I need to do before I can even begin to spend a quiet moment thinking about these big life changes.

Indy, we''re leaving tomorrow on a 6am plane cross-country, and I just returned from D.C. today. Argh!! Stupid timing! I''m glad you aren''t feeling too nauseated, though, because I definitely had a few ''oh crap, get me off this plane'' moments on my ''only'' 1.5 hour flight. Hopefully I''ll sleep on the plane tomorrow. I hope you have a safe trip!

Just a quick pop-in to send CONGRATS to all the new preggos.

Indy- here''s a double-CONGRATS for you. TWINS

Hi all. Back from the doctor. All is status quo -- still 1 cm dilated. I actually lost 2 pounds this week, which is odd considering how much I've eaten! However, I'm not worried because my belly is 3 cm larger, rounding out to a lovely 39 cm...which means I look like a singleton preggo at 39 weeks. Cracks me up.

Started to discuss L&D and the complications my massive fibroid (size of a giant grapefruit/small melon. I hate melons) might cause. I actually learned something today...and here I thought I was the grand poobah of researching my own pregnancy: the fibroid may (repeat MAY) cause my contractions to not be as effective as possible, which may require some drugs (oh, lord, not the Pitossin, please.)

Drat this stupid fibroid.

However, I'm leaving that out of the thought process. I'm just visualizing the birth as I want it. I also occasionally visualize a c-section, cuz, ya know, that could happen considering how the boys are situated.

Here's my 30 week shot. Please note that the temperature is akin to the surface of the sun and I'm kinda spent. I just giggle cuz it looks like I'm on crack or something. Which I'm not.

And for you freaks who worship at the altar of my bare belly...

I need a haircut.

Indy, have a safe trip!

Jas, I am glad you had a good check up today. You seriously look awesome! Cute belly! Hard to believe there are two babies in there. You look beautiful!

I didn''t have a good nights sleep last night so I am extra cranky today. I had a tough time getting to sleep then woke up a few hours later and lay in bed for 1.5 hours even though I was tired.
14.gif
I am extra tired today. I hope tonight is better. The baby kept me company though. I enjoyed his frequent movements in the middle of the night. At one point he was moving so much for 30 seconds straight like he was trying to get out of there. He''s been moving a lot today too, which I just love feeling!

I hope you get some good nights sleep tonight snlee. I remember being up and not sleeping. But the babies movements made me so happy, it was like the two of us were up while everyone else was asleep. I can''t descibe that feeling, but it''s awesome. You are getting close!!!

Just a super quick driveby...

Jas! Yay for good belly growth...

re the news on the fibroid. Hopefully you''ll avoid augmentation. Your belly pics look great! I am envious of your cheekbones, woman-I feel like my face has filled out already

. Plus I think you look cute-if I look like you at 39 weeks I''ll be pretty happy!!

Erica yay for a good ultrasound!

Indy I hope your trip goes well.

Oh sorry Jackie thanks for asking on the names-my latest submission is ''Miranda'' which means ''she who must be admired'' and DH nixed it on the basis that she (if she''s a girl) would grow up spoiled

HI Everybody! Hope you are all doing well. Nothing too exciting too report for me. I am excited, though because I think my tummy is showing a little more. It''s kind of fun right now but I could see getting bored by the end...

Jas- you look great! I am happy for you that you got good news at the Drs today- at least as far as your cervix. Sorry you have to deal with the fibroid issue though.

Indy- glad things are going well. I hope you have a safe trip and that your mom is doing o.k. Any of the u/s you posted actually your u/s?

DD= thats great that your mil is so excited for you guys. It really makes you feel good, huh? Sorry your nausea was worse in the heat. Hope you are feeling better.

Snlee, so sorry to hear you are not sleeping well. I woke up tired today too, with big bags. boo hoo. That is so exciting that you can feel your l.o. and have company while you can''t sleep. I can''t wait to feel it.

Erica- so happy to hear that you had a good u/s. pretty amazing , huh?

Gemma- I like miranda- why does your husband think it means she would be spoiled? hope the name choosing gets better. thanks for the info about the pushing times and stages. I think I may take the class but realize it won''t cover all the bases necessarily. If there is one thing I have heard alot of it s that you don''t really know how you will respond/what baby will decide to do and I guess I need to be ready for anything/open minded. I think I can do that, so far anyway.

Welcom Mrs and L2L. We are happy to have you.

Glad to hear you''re all doing relatively well.

Jas - you look great!

Gemma - Miranda is the name my Grandma decided we need to name our child if it''s a girl - she decided this weeks ago, before I was pregnant. I like it but my DH nixed it too. oh well.

Question re: Dr''s offices and visits/check ups. How long do you all typically wait when you go in for an appointment and when you call for any reason, do you find that the staff is attentive and knowledgeable? I ask because I had a negative experience with my current Dr a while back when I was scheduling my 1st PAP since I moved here. When I called I said I needed an annual exam - I explained that this might be my last appointment before I tried to conceive so I wanted to meet the Dr. I was told I would have to wait 2-3 months... so I made an appointment 2-3 months and when I went in for it, I waited over an hour and finally had to leave and go back to work since I didn''t have all afternoon to wait. I approached the reception area to let them know I couldn''t wait any longer and I was told I''d have to book out another 2-3 months to see the Dr... So I made an appointment to see the nurse practitioner the next week. I waited a while again that time but I guess it wasn''t too bad and the NP was nice.

So last Friday when I called to say I was pregnant and needed to schedule an appointment, again I had to wait on hold for a while. After a while a staff member picked up and I explained. She asked when my last period was and I said that it was 40 days ago (I didn''t have a calender in front of me). The woman couldn''t figure out when that would make it - she seemed very confused and not entirely on top of things - so I had to get my calendar out and count back. She also was confused when I explained that my maiden name is NOT the name I go by now since I''m now married. She finally gave me an appointment and explained that the first appointment is always with the NP and hung up. She never asked if it was my first pregnancy. She never gave me any info about what I should or should not be doing in the weeks leading up to the appointment.....

So am I being too harsh on them? I kinda want a new Dr. now since the practice I have an appointment with seems so poorly run and organized with too many patients... And I''ve never even MET the Dr... But perhaps I''m just being antsy and I need to come to terms with the fact that all Drs will require a wait of some sort? I mean, I do understand that there are likely a number of more pressing matters than my annual PAP so it''s understandable why I might wait... But when I lived in NYC, I *never* had such a long wait for my OBGYN. Is it strange for me to want to meet the Dr on my first pregnant appointment?

Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks for your thoughts in advance,
Mrs

erica, yay for a great first u/s! Isn''t it amazing to see the heartbeat!? My 6 week u/s picture was so magnified you can''t see anything but a blob. I heard u/s pictures fade so I scanned all my u/s pictures as well.

dd, isn''t it funny when people ask if it was planned? I got that question many times. I didn''t mind answering but I feel like that such a personal question. I wouldn''t ever ask anyone that.

jas, forgot to say I''m sorry to hear your fibroid may affect your labor. I hope not! I am trying to stay away from pitocin too!

Thanks Lisa! It is an awesome feeling. I''m trying to enjoy it as I know he won''t be in there for much longer. I''ve hit double digits until my due date! 98 days to go! I can''t believe it!

Gemma, since you asked for a recent belly picture, here I am at 26 weeks. I feel a lot bigger than I look and the belly is getting in the way more often now.

snlee26wks.jpg

Mrs, although your call was frustrating, I don''t see anything out of the ordinary. They usually don''t ask if it''s your first pregnancy and don''t give you any instructions on what to do before your first appointment over the phone. What I dislike is that you had to wait an hour and didn''t even get to see the doctor and you have to wait 2-3 months to get an appointment both times! That''s crazy. Your prenatal appointments will obviously be more regular but you may have to wait a long time. I think you should be able to see/met the doctor either at your first or second appointment. Is this doctor very popular? If you haven''t heard many good things then maybe you should try to find another doctor.

Thanks for your reply snlee! Your Belly looks beautiful!

I guess I just need to come to terms with having to wait. The Dr. is someone who delivered a friend''s 1st child and my friend was happy with her experience there but I don''t know if she''s a really popular dr. We''ll see.

Jas
What a small belly you''ve got for twins (plus 10cm fibroid)!!
You looked stunning as usual.

snlee
I don''t mind losing sleep for those movements
41.gif

I find myself remaining awake most nights because I love feeling her moving inside when I get up to use the restroom.
Enjoy it cuz 14 wks is going to go by so fast.
Lovely belly by the way :)

I am now going for weekly appointment and getting internals at every one of them. So far there's no progress. I am also working on packing the hospital bag.

My shower with my ex-coworkers was great. It was nice just hanging out with them. They haven't seen me since before I was showing, so they were all saying I am huge. We got mostly pink colored clothes - good thing I didn't buy much pink clothes, and a couple things off our registry.

Indy - Try not to worry too much about the ID twins. It's easier said than done, but I'm sure you'll feel better after talking to the specialist. Have a safe trip and good luck at your next u/s.

DD - That's very sweet of your MIL, the gift and keeping the secret. My MIL couldn't keep the secret. She told us she won't tell anyone, and then she told everyone at the Christmas party couple weeks later.

erica - Great that everything looks fine on your u/s. The next time you see your little one, it'll be so different. Have a safe trip also.

Jackie - You look adorable. Sorry you have to deal with the fibroid issue. You are too cute.

snlee - Awww, it sucks that you can't sleep, but you bonding with your little guy is so sweet. I already know that I'll miss the movements. You are so tiny at 26 weeks, such a cute belly.

Gemma12 - It's funny that your DH thinks your DD will be spoiled because of her name. I like "Miranda".

Pave - Yay for showing! Enjoy it.

Mrs - I think it's quite common to see only the NP at the first appointment (depending on the practice). My dr is a single dr practice with no NP, so I see him every time. But I've read on other forums many times that the first appointment is with the NP to just go over medical & family history. Personally I can understand about some waiting at the office for the appointment since sometimes other patients run late or other issues come up, but it's kind of ridiculous to wait more than an hour. The booking for appointment 2-3 months ahead is kind of annoying, but maybe your dr is really popular. I think you should just wait til your first appointment or after meeting the dr before deciding whether to switch. Because she might turn out to be a great dr who shares your opinions/views. But once you meet him and if you don't like him, then definitely switch.

Lord I''m embarrassed. I spelled "pitocin" as "pitossin" in my last post. Way to use my education.
25.gif

I had the floopies last night, so I''m guessing it was a combo of the heat and my not drinking enough water.

Someone sent us 2 Bumbos for the bambinos as a pre-baby gift. (That was brought to you by the letter "B") I''m pretty stoked.

snlee -- I''m sorry you''re not sleeping well, either. But hooray that junior is keeping you company. Remember when we were just aching to feel the kicks?
1.gif
Did you get more sleep last night? You look AMAZING for 26 weeks! (and just in general!)
Gemma -- you get an A+ for using "augmentation" -- I actually had a student once try to convince me that "embiggening" was an appropriate word to use in a college essay (and not in an ironic way nor an essay referring to America''s growing wasteline, nor an essay about slang.) Thanks for the compliment...luckily I''m mostly preggo in the mid-section...my face has always been kinda harshly thin. I''m sure you''ll look gorgeous at 39 weeks...you''ll glow cuz you''ll know you''re almost there! Too bad about "Miranda" which is an excellent name with an excellent history. I forget if you''ve mentioned it, but what names does your DH like? He seems rather particular about some of your choices!
pave -- hey there! Are you taking belly shots these days? It''s really fun to look back on it. And yes, the bloom comes off that rose kinda quickly. Thanks for the compliment!
Mrs -- hmm, sounds like a few red flags went up for you with your experiences. The staff should have asked you a few more questions, and waiting 2-3 months for an appointment...well, that may indicate popularity. I left another gyn. after, on three separate occasions, they left me waiting in the room in my paper gown for over 2 hours, twice because they "forgot" I was in there. Ultimately, you have to feel confident that for the few moments that they do see you, you are in the best of care.
Hi lili -- thanks! How are you these days?
QT -- hooray for what sounds like a nice shower. I''m packing my bag, too! I can''t believe how close you are...it seems like just yesterday...Are you feeling ok these days?

Off to pack the hospital bag (cuz I''m not going to make it to 40 weeks, that''s for sure) and order crib bedding. Whee!

Jas and Snlee--just had to pop in and let you gals know how fab you look!!

Jas--i can''t believe you are at 30 weeks already!!!! Not much longer now, maybe the pregnancy has dragged for you, but it seems like you just announced the twins. Take care of yourself in that heat--yuck
