Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Jas and snlee~ you guys look great!

This is a quick drive by from me b/c things are quite busy right now!

Curly~ you out there fellow NY "girly"?
emsmile.gif
I have a bugaboo question--you mentioned that Lily slept in it for the first 3 months. Does this mean you kept the bassient in the stroller frame and rolled it next to the bed? I''m trying to see how this works as this might mean I won''t have to purchase a bassinet/travel crib as well. How are you doing?

Such cute bellies ladies! I don''t think I''ll ever have a cute belly like you guys. I have extra "padding" to begin with so I''m sure it''ll just look like more as time goes on. I can''t wait to feel movement. How early did most of you feel those first flutters?

My appt went well today. Still spotting but he said no new blood so I just have to wait for this to end. I heard the heartbeat and that put my mind at ease.
9.gif

Snlee -- you look fantastic!

Jackie -- I seriously canNOT believe that i am actually bigger than you and i''m 24 weeks (tomorrow)?! You really look amazing! I suppose taht explain why i am having problems that you are not, though.... and i am SO glad to hear that you haven''t dialated anymore! phew!

L2L -- glad your appointment went well and gave you some peace of mind!

well, my crib came in today and i put it together all by my ginormous self
1.gif
Which means i probably will not walk at all tomorrow (that''s what happened sunday after shopping saturday), but i feel so much more prepared now. The friend that''s giving me a shower came by and set a date with me today (ok, the date that works best for her, but you know...) and it''s not until august 17th, which is a whole month away and i''m not sure if i''m going to be getting around at all by then! (seriously) -- but it''s something to look forward to.
1.gif
That''s all for now -- belly shot soon...
jen

Hey Jen, are you "popped" more than Jas because this is your third pregnancy (right??)? My friends all seemed to get bigger bellies faster when it was their second pregnancy, something about the stomach being primed to let the uterus out of the body cavity! Just wondered if that could be the same with your twins too!

L2L so glad about the heartbeat! THat is such a reassuring sound!

Jackie: you are adorable and glowing! Hard to believe that you are 30 weeks!! and SO glad you''re not dilating further. i totally hear you on the baby shower thing. We''re not going to do one until after the baby is born either. DH feels much more strongly about it than I do... (If it were up to me, I think i''d like to have one...but he won''t even let me bring baby items into the house right now!...I''m working on that though!!)

Snlee: omg...you look GREAT! hope i look that good in 3 weeks! :) how''s the sciatica? i totally know what you mean about being awake with just you and the little one. i love that feeling (but sometimes, feel like I would love sleep more!) :)

Mrs: that''s really annoying about your ob/gyn. i know mine OFTEN runs late, and sometimes if you call ahead of time, they will let you know... i think it''s pretty normal to see the NP for the first appt. they tried to make me do that again when i switched obs, but i managed to talk them out of it!

gemma hi! i also like the name miranda (although it does make me think of sex and the city...which maybe isn''t so prevalent in australia??)

QT: keep us posted. If you disappear for too long we''ll know where you are!

NF, Pave: would LOVE to see some belly pics. i bet you''re both starting to show!

Jen: LOL about your fake bling. i''m start to swell...gonna have to look into something similar...

Gemma: I hope your call schedule is slowing down a bit....That''s got to be tough. Make sure you get enough sleep! And enjoy that mani/pedi (hmmm...good idea...may need to do that myself).

DD,Indy: Hope you''re feeling well!!

EPH: WHERE ARE YOU!?! Hope everything is ok. Please check in when you''re feeling up to it!

NOt much to report on my end...My repeat u/s was fun and everything is looking good. DH and I are driving to LA with both our dogs on Friday (about 7.5 hours). My parents are dog sitting (they also have 2 wheaten terriers...can you imagine them walking all 4 dogs? That will be too funny), while DH and I spend a week in Vancouver. His parents spend the summers there, although they live in Tucson during the year. Will be interesting to see in my MIL makes any comments on my weight gain! She''s usually pretty good though... Afterwards we''ll spend a full week in LA with my family. It''s going to be so nice to escape the heat for a while!!!

Jen & Jas how much weight is in your gorgeous bellies if I may ask? I wonder how much I will gain. My doc said 45-55 pounds (what did yours say?) was a good area to aim for. Since I started out at 105, I'm a little freaked out by the idea of gaining a full half my weight... can my back handle that? But I think with twins you just gotta not even think about it and FEED THOSE CUBS!!

Q any more newses?

Eph any more newses? Have the contractions stopped?

Erica, gosh that sounds nasty with your plane trip. I feel lucky. I had almost no nausea at all on the plane trip. I used my friends accupressure 'sea bands' which help whenever I feel a bit queasy. I don't know how they work, and maybe it's just auto-suggestion, but they do seem to help. Maybe you could try them? She got hers at a diving store but maybe sports stores have them? Not sure.

I'm dropping in on y'all from my mom's. She is doing great. I was expecting her to look much more haggard than she does. She actually looks great. A little worn and she is having to move slowly, but nothing too bad. The first thing she wanted was for me to help her wash her hair since she cant shower with the big bandage on her chest and hadn't been able to wash it in a week! Then we just lazed around in the sunshine, dozed off, chatted, and chilled together. It was nice! Plus, a member of her surgical team paid a housecall to check up on her (how sweet is that?) and good LORD women! This man. He was smokin' . And soooo beautifully dressed. And sooooo kind and sweet to my mom. After he left we were both "Uh, YUM!?"

.

I have to go to the market tomorrow and make sure I have enough to meet my nutritional requirements here. They are not set up for a pregnant woman in this household: e.g., no dairy in the house at all! But I love the local market so I'm looking forward to that!

indy - how tall are you again? just curious.

ok, back to lurking in this thread
5.gif

Jcrow, I'm wee, just like you (if I recall?) I'm juuust shy of 5'2" / 154 cm. So, I'm in the healthy weight zone, and at the lower end of the healthy body fat range with 20% body fat before I got pregnant.

Hi all -- not much new to report other than I really do feel better in the heat if I drink a ton of water!

It's really hitting me that I'm in the home stretch...emphasis on stretch. Holy moly, there're gonna be two babies here soon!!!!

Jas12 -- thanks! I know...time has flown and soon I'll be venturing over to the mamma thread!
L2L -- I think I first felt flutters for sure around 18 or 19 weeks. It hasn't stopped since. Wait for the joy of the little one kicking your cervix...but I will admit that when they get hiccups, it's a riot! Glad your appt. eased your mind!
Jen -- Girl, you are not bigger than I am. I am just spreading out horizontally...it doesn't show in the pictures. Besides, you are looking much happier and beautiful than I. Yea on the crib, but girl, you have to take care of yourself.
LIA -- you and I can throw each other a virtual baby shower. Yea on the u/s...omg on 4 dogs...when I was w/ my parents last week, there were three doggies and it was so much fun (but exhausting!)
Indy -- Glad things are going well with your mom. So far, I've put on 30 pounds, and I'm guessing all but about 4-5 pounds of that is belly gain...I was told 35-45 pounds...my guess is that you started a little underweight for your height? I think I will stay within the limit...but we'll see...ice cream is just so gooooood

Indy, if you pick up Barbara Luke''s book (When You''re Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads), she''s got a recommended weight gain chart. I was slightly underweight according to her and was expected to put on 55-60 lbs -- which is exactly what I put on. FWIW, I started at 113, just under 5''5". So I did put on half my weight! And yes, it was a lot to carry, but the back pain was the least of my aches by the end
2.gif

Dreamer -- i am sure that this not being my first pregnancy has something to do with it, yes. (ps i have 3 boys already)

Jackie -- you are WAY too sweet -- there''s no "beautiful" goin'' on here!
3.gif
Lately, actually, my face has decided to adopt a bright red color that makes me look either very embarrassed or very sunburned :p And yeah, i''m taking care of myself -- that crib was easy and it was nice to feel like i actually contributed around here for a change... on a regular basis i don''t even lift a laundry basket! You may be right about how we are carrying differently, though -- everyone i know is telling me i''m carrying all out in front (yes, i have expanded all over, just more straight out in the belly). With my boys i carried them sticking out every which way! -- lol about the beeping going backwards (my dh does that to me ALL the time, such a sweetheart haha) I think you look radiant btw...

Indy -- my dr never actually specified a weight gain for me (he''s really lax about *everything* -- i sometimes wonder if i''m his first set of twins. anyway, i''ve put on 40 lbs so far (24 weeks) and i''m good with that and the babies are weighing big
1.gif
I''m not able to eat as much now, so i think most of the rest of what i gain will be babies and fluid. I''ve heard the weight comes off quickly with twins too. The book Ella recommended is my favorite reference book. Since you are tiny, i might also recommend that you get a support band or harness to help with your back (in my case, *other* issues) before you actually need it...

Q -- no progress yet, huh? bummer. did you get your bag packed?

ok, here''s my belly shot from a week ago...hope it doesn''t post too big b/c it''s scary enough as it is --- 23 weeks btw. my doc thinks i''m measuring about 10 weeks ahead

Hi ladies! Hope everyone''s doing well so far this week.

I made an appointment with another Dr''s practice today and am feeling MUCH better about things. I didn''t realize how bummed I was about not feeling confidant in that other practice. When I called this new Dr''s office, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Both women I spoke with were very kind and took the time to tell me about how things work there and what I can expect. They were congratulatory which was really nice and gave me some pointers about what I should and should not be doing and eating now which was great (even though I already feel pretty informed though you all!). The second woman I spoke with explained that they always count gestation from the first day of one''s last period and then they adjust it after the first ultrasound as appropriate. As such, she scheduled me for my first (8 week) appointment this coming Monday
36.gif

I''m still feeling no nausea and the cramping is minimal - I hope that lasts!

sending you all healthy happy vibrations!
Mrs

Jas, snlee, Jen beautiful bellies ladies, you all look awesome!

Indy wowee that is a lot of weight to wrap your head around I am sure. You know, this is probably the only time in your life when you can really eat with abandon so try to enjoy it, eh?
2.gif

Jen oopps I knew you had three boys, so this is pregnancy number four and a two for one deal
9.gif
! You are wonder woman, really. A part of me would love to have a whole bunch of kids, but I just don't think it is compatible with my career
39.gif
We'll see how I feel after having two... if I want more, well, family is more important than my career so it just may come to pass!

Mrs that is cool you get your first u/s on Monday!! Since you will probably be more like 5 weeks along, you may not get to see the heartbeat yet, but it will still be fun to see the little blob
2.gif
Don't forget that the techs may say you measure small or something (happened to my friend recently with a similar late O situation)... I bet they get you to come back in a week for another u/s to really know how far along you are! Oh well, more seeing the blob! I won't see mine until my NT scan in about 4 -5 more weeks. ETA: as for nausea, mine didnèt start until I was near the end of week 6, so you may start to feel a little off in another week or so... hereès hoping it is mild for you!

As for me, as of tomorrow I am officially 8 weeks
36.gif
Although I know anything can happen, 75% of m/cs happen before 6 weeks and another very large percentage happen between 6 and 8 weeks, so I am feeling good about this mini-milestone! So far no barfing and only mild queesiness a few times a day. My energy is pretty good, but I am finding now that I am really winded even walking up a flight of stairs?? I heard that when the blood volume really increases it means your heart has to work harded, so I wonder if that is what is happening? And my pants still fit
36.gif
The bloating I had for weeks 5 - 7 seems to have really decreased this week, which is great.

I'm going to a conference in Providence Rhode Island, of all places, for the next 5 days so I probably won't be on PS
15.gif
, but have a great weekend everyone, give your babies a little squeeze for me!

dreamer - congrats on 8 weeks!! I''m glad you''re feeling relatively well!

thanks for your thoughts on my 1st scheduled appointment. I don''t think I''m actually going to have a u/s on monday. I think they may take some blood for some tests but the appointment will be more about the NP taking my medical history and me learning about what to expect. I think they may also have me schedule a u/s - the woman who booked the appointment for me suggested as much so that leads me to believe that they may not do u/s in their office? Perhaps I have to go to a lab or something? She also scheduled my 10 week appointment which will be my first physical exam with the Dr. We''ll see - I''ll let you know! Thanks again!

FWIW Indy I''m pretty much the same height and weight as you and I gained around 20kg both times I was pregnant with singeltons. I felt huge and was constantly asked during my second pregnancy if I was having twins, but I did loose it all both times, so it wasn''t all bad. Most people are horrified when I tell them how much I gained, but thankfully my doctors weren''t too concerned. In retrospect I think a lot of it was fluid.

It is weird gaining so much weight in such a relatively short space of time, but it''s all for a good cause and it''s not forever.

Good morning all, and happy Monday!

Brief responses now as I have to gear up for my weekly cervix tickle and weigh in. They are now using a truck scale. I also beep when I back up.
3.gif

Mrs. Welcome! We''re so glad to have you here!
L2L -- How scary! I hope the weekend was better for you and that you get answers tomorrow.
Jen -- Hey gal! Mums the word on the CZ
2.gif

Gemma -- I like your philosophy of focusing on the positive. I''ve been very careful about what I ''put out there'' in the Universe, if you know what I mean. It''s tough...believe it or not I have a worrier/research nature as well, and it''s easy to veer into the abyss. Any word on names yet? I will not be having a shower...apparently my mother told the entire world that I (meaning SHE) did not want a shower before the babies were born because of a religious superstition (i.e. What if something terrible happened...I''d have to look at the stuff afterwards.) I am pretty annoyed by that because, yes, I would have loved a shower...if only because it would be a few less things to buy...and NO, I don''t want a shower when the babies are 3 weeks old and I''m working on 36 seconds of sleep. I know how bratty that sounds. But for some reason, everyone in my life is taking mom''s word for it over mine.
29.gif
Yea for the m/s alleviation!

As far as belly shots, I''ve blasted beyond the ''cute'' preggo into the ''Good Lord I hope I never get that big'' preggo. P.U. Unless of course my hair looks good in one of them. In that case, all bets are off.

Off to start the day...I have promised myself 1 hour of writing every day until the bambinos are born, despite the loss of 20 IQ points and the ability not to topple over from a standing still position.
What a PITA! Could you tell a few close friends or family members that you think might have thrown you a shower that your mother is mistaken and you would love to have a shower before the babies are born? BTW, I''d still love to see the pics.

Get this: So 2 weeks ago we cracked and told DH`s parents that we were expecting, and they were really happy. We went to dinner with them and it just didn`t feel right to keep it from them, so we told them. They were like, ``Was it planned``
20.gif
LOL!! I think they thought we were going to wait a few more years.

Anyways, we swore my MIL to secrecy and she proudly declared this weekend when we went to dinner that she hasn`t told a soul, even though she had to listen to TWO family members brag about their upcoming grandbabies (some of DHs cousins are expecting around the time we are!). Anyways, MIL shows up at my place to pick me up for dinner--we were meeting our hubbys for dinner at their golf course--and she says, ``Oh look what I bought for DHs cousin`s baby! And, well, I was in the store and I had to get something for OUR baby too!` She bought a bunch of onesies, some receiving blankets, and a cute little toy that snaps onto a stroller.

Very sweet, but I was so not ready for baby presents! Aaaahhhhh! WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!
32.gif

Okay, I am going back to my denial for at least another 4 weeks.
Yay -- first presents! There are definitely "wow" (or "yikes") moments that poke through the denial in the early stages.

erica, yay for a great first u/s! Isn''t it amazing to see the heartbeat!? My 6 week u/s picture was so magnified you can''t see anything but a blob. I heard u/s pictures fade so I scanned all my u/s pictures as well.

dd, isn''t it funny when people ask if it was planned? I got that question many times. I didn''t mind answering but I feel like that such a personal question. I wouldn''t ever ask anyone that.

jas, forgot to say I''m sorry to hear your fibroid may affect your labor. I hope not! I am trying to stay away from pitocin too!

Thanks Lisa! It is an awesome feeling. I''m trying to enjoy it as I know he won''t be in there for much longer. I''ve hit double digits until my due date! 98 days to go! I can''t believe it!
6.gif

Gemma, since you asked for a recent belly picture, here I am at 26 weeks. I feel a lot bigger than I look and the belly is getting in the way more often now.
Cute belly, Snlee. I''m at 27 weeks now, and I hear ya on the "getting in the way." I cannot believe how much my belly has grown and changed shape in just the last 4 weeks. Baby girl is kicking me right now.

Jen, you must post pics of the crib.

QT, sounds like a fun shower,

Gemma, hope you enjoy your mani/pedi/massage -- sounds wonderful.

Indy, glad to hear your mom is doing so well.

Jen, cute belly pic!

It''s 3 am in Paris, and I can''t sleep, so here I am on PS.
2.gif
20.gif
Yesterday was our first full day in Paris. We wandered around the Marais and did some shopping. The stores are having their sales now, and I got some good bargains on baby clothes at a place called Natalys (everything I bought was 50-70% off). I bought a 3-piece outfit with tuquoise embroidered (reversible) jacket and pants and little top, a 2-piece summer top and pant outfit, 2 dresses, 2 sweaters (one with an adorable bunny applique), and a footer sleeper with matching knit jacket for 75 euros (which is probably about $120). Most of the clothes were 12 mo size, so she can grow into them. I will post pics when I get home. I saw some great womens'' clothes, but do not want to buy clothes I cannot try on right now, because they are still expensive even on sale, so I am contenting myself with shopping for the bambina. We also bought her an adorable, super soft plush donkey hand puppet -- never too early to start indoctrinating, right?
2.gif
We had a fabulous dinner at a restaturant that specializes in food from the Gascony region of France -- best cassoulet ever! Tomorrow, we head to Burgundy for a week, and I will have no internet there (I might have withdrawals, lol).

This is probably TMI, but is it normal to have nipple leakage at 27 weeks? Over the past couple weeks, I have noticed wet spots on my PJ tops a couple of times (always on the right). Today, I got home and undressed, and I actualy saw a few drops fall out. It was a clear, slightly thick liquid. Is this anything to worry about?

Thanks for the welcome Kay! Sorry you can''t sleep!

How was the flight over?

That''s great that you were able to buy some cute stuff for the baby.

I''m so jealous you had yummy casoulet! I LOVE authentic Casoulet. WHile you''re there, you might consider stopping at a grocery store and getting some canned since you can''t find that here. It''s not as good an the kind you get in a restaurant over there but it''s still very good.

Enjoy the rest of your trip and take care of yourself!

Mrs

Hi, Mrs. I never thought of canned cassoulet . . . hmm, I''ll have to look. The flight was ok -- but 9 hours is a long time since I can''t sleep on planes unless heavily medicated, which wasn''t an option this time. Fortunately, DH and I had the 3-seat row to ourselves so we could stretch out a little.

I should probably go try to sleep now since I have to get up to pack in a few hours.

Just checking in, so no one think I am in labor. =P I am really tired today, will post more tomorrow.

Hi, just delurking to give a shout out to Ephemery!
Hope you & the wee one are doing okay & check in when you can!
Okay....back to lurk mode........
