Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

jen, you look great in your new avatar! And cute kitty! How annoying that you have to deal with those comments and people poking at your belly. WTF!? A poke? Seriously!? Weird about contractions being worse at night. You would think I''d be he opposite - when you''re active there''s more. Hang in there! As for me, no clue why the contractions are worse at night as all I do is lay on my side all day and night! I didn''t call the doctor. I think I''ll just wait it out. I''m feeling okay now. I know it''s not labor since it''s not regular and doesn''t get worse.

I forgot to mention that I''ve been feeling lots of baby hiccups. Yesterday he had the hiccups 5 times! Crazy! He''s already had hiccups 2 times today and I''ve only been awake for 3 hours. It''s weird because I didn''t start feeling hiccups until around 30 weeks so I thought I had a baby who didn''t hiccup. Now they are so frequent!

Snlee -- mine have the hiccups a lot more now, too! how funny! i think they are in there busily practicing their breathing, so it''s not surprising. Thanks about the avatar (it''s from 30 1/2 wks b/c i don''t have a more recent one). I look like i should topple over
3.gif
I know i sounds motherly, but if you get more frequent contrax like that, i think you should call just so you can be checked -- seriously, better safe than sorry (and now i sound like my grandma did!)

jen,

Yeah, baby hiccups are a good sign of a healthy baby, so even though they can be annoying it''s reassuring to feel them! DH and I can''t wait until he has the hiccups as a newborn. It''ll be so cute! Thanks for your concern and advice. You are right it''s better to be safe than sorry. If it happens frequently again, I''ll give my doctor a call.

Indy, I feel so frustrated for you. You held yourself together really well. Your twins will be in good hands with you doing your research and taking care of them. And I don''t think I said it earlier, but I''m really sorry about you losing your natural birth. But this is exactly why we have obs and all of this technology - because babies like yours need them.

One of the big things that I looked for before I chose a m/w for myself was someone who knew when to say when. I''ve read birth stories where she was the m/w and ended up transfering because things were out of her skill level, and so I feel comfortable that she''d know when to transfer or Iearlier on) when to refer me to an o/b if necessary. Reading your story was just so frustrating.

DD, cute belly! You''re being too critical. I don''t see any tires.

Lisa, that''s got to be simultaneously really sad and relieving. I''m really glad to hear that the one is healthy. We''re here if you need us.

Courtney, congrats!!

Pandora, this is the doc who you didn''t really want to use for this pregnancy, right? It sounds like that went really well!

Jen, what is it with rude people and your belly! Your avatar is really cute.

Snlee, sorry about the contrax.

Mind if I ask some majorly stupid questions? I haven''t asked them, because I feel like it should be obvious, but then whenever I think about it I confuse myself. I''m 10w0d today. So... how many weeks along am I? It seems like it should be 10, but at the same time, wouldn''t CD1-7 be week 1, CD 8-14 week 2, CD 15-21 week 3, CD 22-28 week 4, etc, making tomorrow (10w1d) the beginning of week 11?

And in pregnancy books and websites, when they give the size of the baby each week, is that the size at the beginning or the middle or the end of the week? And why is there such a discrepency? I looked at several different sources a little while ago, and at that time (depending on the source), my embryo was 13 mm or a little over an inch. I know that it''s whatever size it is, but for some reason I just want to know anyway.

Oh, and is the little monster a fetus today, or still an embryo and then a fetus a week from now? Or was it a fetus 6 days ago? My mom gave me a bunch of books and I feel like all of them say something different. I''ve gotten mad at quite a few of them and thrown them in our "donate" pile downstairs.

Also, is stripping furniture out, if it''s well ventilated and I''m wearing a mask? My guess is yes, but I want to help with some of our household projects if I can. I already have to leave the house when hubby''s planing down the doors (some of them get too swollen to close in the summer), because of the possibility of lead based paint. I wish I were able to do more around here.

Blen I am horrid at explaining those things myself, so I won't comment on that, but YES STAINING/REFINISHING is absolutely out. Those stains/strippers are just too high in chemicals to make it worth the risk KWIM? On the other hand painting infrequently can sometimes be ok depending on what kind of paint is used (they have water based, very low fume paint that my doc at least said is fine if you are doing just a nursery, etc. as long as you keep the room well ventilated).

Stains are just a whole different story.

And you ARE doing a lot around there, you are growing your baby!!!!!!! Let the hubby do the chores!

I will try to answer your questions.

At 10w0d, you have completed 10 weeks of pregnancy so yes, you are in your 11th week.

When they tell you the size of the baby I think of it as the size is the beginning of the week. I think there are discrepancies because they are just a guestimate of the size. Every baby grows at different rates.

Your baby is now considered a fetus. It''s no longer an embryo.

I would stay away from stripping furniture.

Hope this helps!

Pandora, this is the doc who you didn''t really want to use for this pregnancy, right? It sounds like that went really well!
Oh, don''t get me wrong, I adore my GP - it''s just that I couldn''t treat him in a completely clinical doctor way. This is the guy who has sat there and metaphorically held my hand while I basically had a nervous breakdown in his office over 6 months and then helped me put my life back together.

But - I just wouldn''t feel comfortable taking my clothes off. I didn''t have to do anything like that today, I just said I''d done an HPT or 7 and he filled out the booking form. They don''t take bloods, or make you do a pg test or examine you or anything.

I felt the same way when I was living with my parents and had to sign on with my father''s practice. Feels weird having a pap test from my dad''s partner - someone that I have known for years and who comes over for lunch on a regular basis.

Funnily enough I saw my neighbour tonight - who has the same GP. Her husband asked what he was like and her reply: ''Oooh, he''s drop dead gorgeous, should be advertising toothpaste or aftershave or something - and there is NO WAY ON EARTH you could ever take your clothes off and show him something embarrassing!'' Turns out she trots along to the female GP for ''women''s bits'' things.

She was really shocked we didn''t even have to do a pg test or anything, ditto with the pre-conception chat, they just suggest folic acid once you start TTC. Do you guys all get full exams or something?

I called my doctor to tell her about my frequent contractions. She said to call them back if I start having contractions every 4 minutes again, even if it''s at night. I guess I''m just dreading another visit to L&D.
40.gif
Not sure what they would do at this point in my pregnancy other than monitor me. I know I need to do what''s best of my baby. I just wish these damn contractions would settle down. I''ve had enough of them these last 6 weeks. I have pages and pages and pages of contraction logs. I feel like I''ve had enough and I haven''t even gone through labor yet!
39.gif
I guess I''m just feeling anxious since DH will be away for 4 days on business soon. Boo.

wow awesome! Hi Everyone!! I''m a new Pregnant PS''er!! =) I didn''t even know this existed.. I spent all my days in the Bride World Wide Forum!!

I am 9 weeks pregos tomorrow. =)

jas: great story - love the new pics!

indy: thanks! it feels good to be half way! sorry to hear about your midwife experience, but at least you have the wonderful specialists to work with!

neatfreak: thanks! i''ve been feeling itty bitty kicks for a few weeks now but can''t wait until they can be felt on the outside too so hubby can feel the magic :) glad to hear your appt went well. good luck on the glucose test.

apparently my next appt will involve the glucose test too. my dr. has already given me the drink and said i should just chill it in the fridge before drinking it (apparently that makes it taste better) and drink it on the way to my appointment next month.

Class n'' Sass + Courtneylub + Lucy Love: welcome to the preggo thread! enjoy the ride :)

sk8rjen: pluto is adorable!

dd: great belly shot - i see a bump!

lisa: sorry to hear about the other embryo - i can understand your mixed feelings about it all, but feel free to take all the space you need to just *get away* from the preggo/ttc focus.

snlee: glad to hear you called the dr. hang in there!

i''m out of the country again on work, but will check in on you all as often as i can! stay healthy!!

Blenheim you are 10 weeks preggo because you have completed 10 weeks, but you are currently in your 11th week! The websites and books vary in whether they use the "10 weeks pregnant" or "11th week" was of talking about things. And the new week, week 11, starts at 10w0d. CD 1 - 7 was 0w0d to 0w6d, CD8-15 was 1w0d to 1w6d etc etc.

Hmmm... painting and staining. I bought some minwax stain + paint in one and we were in our backyard last weekend painting/staining the frame to a bed we have. Shouls I avoid this in future? I figured because I was in the back yard in the open in was okay, but if it isn''t I''ll let hubby do the rest and I will just supervise (though he really isn''t very good at it
2.gif
). The preduct is oil based I discoverd after buying it.

I taught my three hour class today and let me tell you I almost fell over in the home stretch. Hubby came to pick me up and then I had to lay on the couch for 3 hours to recoup! It is exhausting to be "on" for three hours, and on my feet! My back was hurting by the end! It will get easier as time goes by, but man alive it is harder preggo. Luckily the way it is working I will only be teaching both classes until Nov. 1.

Welcome Courtney and Lucy!

Jen I want to see a recent belly pic! Pretty please?

snlee hang in there woman.. I admit, in your place I might wonder at the need for going to LD since what would they do tp stop labor anyeways?? But better to go then to sit at home and wonder!

15w4d

Ok, so stripping is definitely out. If I make hubby do the stripping (tee hee), is staining ok for me to do?
DD, I tend to be better at this type of stuff, too.

And thanks for the clarification on dates! Yay, fetus! I just like that word more than embryo. Don''t know why.

My tailbone is killing me. I had a hell of a time getting through work today.

Pandora, I didn''t mean to imply he was a bad doc or something! I just remembered that you felt weird about the possibility of him looking at your lady bits.

I combined my pre-conception visit with a needed yearly visit/pap, and she just kind of verified that we knew basics. I was already charting to avoid, and we''re both young and healthy and not in ethnic populations that are at risk of various genetic diseases, so it wasn''t as eventful as I was thiinking it would be. For my first prenatal visit, I didn''t have to do a preg test either. We discussed basic health stuff, she gave me stuff to fill out and recipes for pregnancy tea and sheets with information on when I need to call her. She had me pee on a strip to test for some stuff (I forget what, but not hcg - maybe if there was protein in my urine, or sugar, or something?) and took my blood pressure. I scheduled it for when my mom was there, so she also talked to my mom some about her pregnancies (getting family history). She didn''t do a physical exam, because it was early enough that there wasn''t much to feel. Starting at 8 weeks, she would have been able to tell if my uterus was growing appropriately. I''m sure that she''ll feel it next week.

Pandora I didn''t see my midwife until I was 10 weeks. I called the clinic, they said did you POAS? I said yes, they said, see you at 10 weeks! Seems to be a wide variety between different caregivers though. I am pretty sure in Canada whether you see a doctor or midwife it is all "see ya later skater" until 8 - 10 weeks. No pre-conception visit beyond my usual once a year gynae exam, which I did about 10 months before we TTC.

My belly is really changing quickly these days. I have been having major pulling pressure feelings in the muscles of my stomach, and the muscles are so taught and starting to round out, which is soooooo strange! It is just so odd to feel my stomach muscles taughtly angling in such a convex way. I made my friend feel my stomach at work and she was like "Weird!" My whole stomach area just feels full to burst. I think I am going to have a proper baby bump within another week or so, it just feels like everything is reaching its boiling point! LOL!

Does the stomach area always feel tight like a drum throughout pregnancy, or does that happen only when there is a real growth spurt? It isn''t particularly comfortable...

No...stain has some of the nastiest fumes out there as well. From what I understand the only somewhat safe thing to do is paint, and that is only if you do it with low fume paint in a very ventilated area. I would stay away personally just to be safe...but you can always ask your own doctor.

Lisa, thanks for the update. I hope you have a wonder rest of your pregnancy and a healthy happy singleton.

Jen, hang in there...you''re doing great!

Welcome to the new preggos!

Lisa
That must have been a sad and happy news for you.
Lots of sticky vibes and hope you get over your ms.

snlee
Are the contractions painful?
Tell your LO to be a good little boy and stay put until daddy is done with his travel.

Those hiccups are trippy huh?
I find that if I eat spicy food, they are more frequent :)

Jen
Your kitten is so cute...
and your belly is much cuter
5.gif

You look fabulous and I can''t believe the nerve of that waitress poking on your belly.
I''d poked her back if I were you.
Hang in there...you are so close.

CnS, lucylove, courtneylub, and pandora
Congrats and welcome!
Lots of sticky dust to you ladies and anyone else I may have missed.
This thread is moving way too fast...

lili, the contractions aren''t really painful. They are just uncomfortable, some more than others. Last night I had to concentrate on breathing through them because I was feeling lots of cramps. It was manageable though.

Thanks for listening to me ladies. Today was just a crappy day and I was feeling down. I am feeling better now.

I finished the ABC cross stitch! I just need to add the baby''s name and birthdate and find a nice frame for it.

IMG_598753708.jpg

Wow, how big is that cross-stitch?
Each character is so detailed.
Great job snlee!

Hi all, I got my BFP almost 3 weeks ago, and was waiting until my first ultrasound to join the thread. Yesterday was pretty disappointing. The good news is we saw the heart beating -- the not as good news is the sac is measuring 5w 1-3 days. My doctor told me that I must have my dates wrong, but I am pretty sure it's impossible to get a positive digi 3-6 days after having sex! I know that my dates are not wrong, I was charting. She said everything is fine, but she wants to see me back in a week, she said the fetus will be much larger in a week and earlier to see/measure. I thought the baby's heart doesn't even beat at 5w 1day???

I am trying to be positive but it is difficult. My best friend had the exact same situation -- knew she was 6 weeks, baby measured 5 weeks, she did see the heart beat. Her doctor did tell her that it didn't look very good, and she miscarried shortly after. Everyone tells me that US measuring isn't precise, but I think it's pretty good. If I lose the baby I can be at peace with that eventually, but I can't stand this week of waiting until my next ultrasound next Friday. I've had pretty intense morning sickness since last Saturday, throwing up several times a day, and I just don't want to feel the morning sickness this week if I'm going to lose the baby.

Hi Ladies!

Lisa, I'm so glad that your bebe is measuring big and healthy. It's very sad to hear about the twin, although I know the feelings in this case must be so mixed and confused. I hope you're able to express them to your loved ones and find comfort.

If it's any more comfort to you, you mentioned whether your baby might somehow remember its vanishing womb-mate. Because of the condition of the brain at this point in development, that would be impossible, so it's not something you have to worry about. It won't affect your baby in any way.

But it affects you of course and I'm sending about 7 billion hugs your way.

Courtney & Lucy, welcome to the party ladies!

SBDE, safe travels! I hope you're somewhere fun.

Blen, I find the easiest way to think about the counting weeks thing is to think of it the same way as birthdays. You're not 1 yr old until you've completed your first year. Then you turn 1. Then you're in your second year, and when that's done you turn 2... same thing with wks of pregnoidcy. Make sense?

DD, definitely sounds like you're ready to really pop! I had a week like that a couple of weeks back where I just felt like I was streeeeetching and then I REALLY popped.

Snlee, sorry about the ctrx. That sounds phoophy! Doesn't that cervix of yours know you need to stock up on sleeeep? The cross stich is fabulous. Doesn't it feel good to make things for your babies? Which reminds me, I should get on some cute hats to match the booties I made.

Lindsey, I know exactly how you are feeling. I remember The One Week Wait when we went to the doctor after I started bleeding and there was no heartbeat yet, and everything was measuring way far behind. It was a hard week. But please don't give up hope. My Twin B was lagging almost a week behind where he should have been (going by my FF ov date) for many weeks, but now he's almost caught up! The best thing might be to prepare yourself for the worst, and then ferociously hope for the best. It could go either way. And measurements that early are NOTORIOUSLY wonky. Way more potentially wonky than a few weeks later. That's what I've read adn been told everywhere. I'll be crossing my fingers and toes for you.

Jen, you hang tough, gal! You're doing GREAT! and you're soooo close. Snuggle that super-cute kitten and eat lots of ice cream.

OK, here''s my li''l update. Great News! One of those times that being a nerdy research nut really pays off.

Hot of the press! A new study was published that tracked certain measures of mono-di twins at a first trimester u/s and then at a 16 weeks u/s and then watched to see if the probability of outcomes could be predicted from those two measures. If, next Wednesday at the u/s, the boys remain as even in measurements (right now they''re about 7% different) and amniotic fluid and a few other things as they have been, then the chances of something going wrong later on drop to 14%. But waaaay better than that, the chances of one of them dying drops to less than 10%.

In other words, if at the next u/s all is as peachy as it was at the last u/s, then I have EVERY reason to hope for a good outcome! Their risk is cut in half. Ahhhh.
36.gif
YAY!

Lisa Lots of hugs girl! I''m so happy for you about your little bean, but can completely understand the mixed emotions that come along with losing one...it was something I was worried about for many weeks at the beginning too.

Snlee That cross stitch is awesome! You are so talented.

Lindsay I completely agree with everything Indy said. It''s very common early on for things to be a bit "off" from what you expect the dates to be. AND if you really have lots of m/s that actually is a great sign because it means that your body is more likely to be "taking" to the pregnancy. So certainly be prepared for a bad outcome, but there are lots of reasons to think that everything will be fine, especially since you heard a h/b! That is really the first hurdle, so that''s great news.

Indy YAY!!! That rocks girl! I''ll be crossing my fingers for you over here. The size concordance/discordance is the very first thing my doc always looks at on my u/s reports too. I''ve also read that it''s a big sign of a good outcome if there isn''t a lot of discordance in size between the two. But that was just twins in general, not separated out by type. Yay!
36.gif

lisa - so sorry for your loss. I was so excited for another set of twins, as I'm sure you were. The most important thing is the health of your singleton. So, in that vain, i'm going to turm my frown upside-down and say 'congrats'! on one healthy wiggly little baby. It may not make any of this any easier, but I'm so happy that Olivia will have a healthy sib to taunt, play with and grow-up with ;)

Indy - Hate the dramz you've had over the last few days, but really really happy to hear about the drop-off in risk should the next u/s look good. Keep up posted! Fingers X'd!

DD - My BFF is 26wks preggers and she's experiencing that "drum" streatching a lot right now too. Not fun. Hang in there - you're going to be extra super duper cute preggie's in a couple weeks when you pop! :) so exciting!

"Suh-nuh-lee" (LOL!!!) I'm sorry about your uncomfortable few weeks. What a bummer. At least they're not painful (???). Hang tight. (get it! tight as in tight contactions! LOL ok, not funny) you're heading into the home stretch. Soon, you'll have your snuggly bunny and no more contractions! :) Ps. Great cross-stiching!!!

Lindsey - I don't know what to say to make this any easier. My thoughts and prayers are will you, and hope that you're baby catches up and measures well at the next u/s. hugs.

Blein - to add further insight to this whole "what week am I thing"...a good comparison is this: When a baby is born, it has to 'complete' a whole year of life before it "earns" the title "1 yr old". Then that baby is considered 1 yrs old until it's second birth day, at which time, it's completed two whole years, and "earned" it's badge, 2 yrs old. Does that help explain it? When me and my BFF were trying to wrap my head around it, we almos pee'd our pants because it was such a hard concept and we felt so dumb!!!
9.gif

Jen - how's pluto adjusting?

Sorry for missing a few of you. xoxo.

Welcome to all the other newly preggo's. Hopefully, we have a long uneventful ride together!!!

I'll be 4 wks tomorrow. WWWEEETARTED how newly-preggo I am!

Neatfreak, I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing tailbone pain too. It seems like the Dr. says every pain is normal, but it is still unpleasant. Glad to hear your boys are doing well.

Dreamer, thank you for the book recommendations. It is so exciting you are feeling the baby move already. Glad to hear your first class went well. Cute belly shot – you are still so small.

Diva, Jas12 & Tacori, thanks for sharing your experiences – it is a relief to know things will go back to normal after labor and a tear or episiotomy.

Curly, you are getting so close now, girl! Thanks for sharing details of your fist L&D -- I’m sure it helped that the nurses were doing perineal massage between pushes. Were you doing massage at home in the weeks leading up to L&D? I am horrible about remembering to do kegals.

Janine, that sounds like a disturbing trip to L&D – I hope that was not a typical day. Glad to hear your baby is doing well.

Blen, that’s great your talk with your boss went so well. Cute belly pic – I doubt people can tell yet when you are dressed. Sorry to hear the tailbone pain is hitting you too.

Ivana, sorry to hear about your bad m/s. I found it easier to take my prenatals at night.

Jen, I am in love with Pluto!
30.gif
What a cutie – I just want to hold him. Sounds like you had a great shower – congrats on receiving your stroller and breast pump. I can’t believe some moron poked you. Your avatar looks really cute.

LIA, sorry to hear the bad news about your pool.

Jas, I enjoyed reading the rest of your L&D story. Your in-laws are really unbelievable. What kind of morons visit a new mom for 3 hours and stay even after she says she needs to sleep?
23.gif
I can’t believe your crazy SIL stole your precious doggie and then refused to give him back.
29.gif
That is an adorable picture of 2 of your babies!

Indy, congrats on confirmation your cubs are boys! The specialists sound great. I can understand why you will need several doctors and nurses in attendance at your L&D, but I would not be comfortable with a room full of students observing – I’d probably tell the Dr. I didn’t want any non-essential persons there. (Of course, I am a privacy nut. I verified my hospital is not a teaching hospital after a PSer posted her story about all the students trooping through her room for a look at her hoo-ha.) Sorry the meeting with the midwife went so horribly – what a witch!
29.gif

Class n Sass, Courtney & Lucy, congratulations and welcome to the preggo thread!

35.gif

Lisa, I am happy to hear your singleton is healthy and measuring on target. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your second embryo. I am sure you are feeling such a mixture of emotions right now. Hugs.

Snlee, I am so sorry to hear you are still suffering with the cramps and contractions. Your cross stitch turned out great – it will look so cute in the nursery.

Lindsay, congrats on the BFP and welcome.
36.gif
35.gif
I am sorry you are having to go through this rough waiting period. The HB is a good sign. My little one was measuring a week behind for a while.

Lili, I love your avatar – what a cutie!
1.gif

I feel stretched so tight right now! The baby is moving a lot. DH and I sat on the couch last night and just watched my tummy move for half an hour – it was surreal. The massage on Tuesday did help with my back pain a bit. It felt very different from the “spa” massages I’ve had in the past – more like actual therapy. I am going back again in a week.

A friend loaned me “Laugh & Learn about Childbirth” and DH and I watched the first two sections this week. I didn’t find her humor as bad as some of the Amazon reviewers had said. She is a New Yorker, so my DH felt comfortable, LOL. We’ll watch some more this weekend. We might cancel the hospital classes we are scheduled to take next weekend (neither of us really wanted to sit there for 12 hours).

You Mommas are the best at supporting everyone through all the ups and downs of this ride........

Boy there are a lot of plot twists in this pg. thing, huh?

So yesterday I wore one of my tried and true maternity outfits (gaucho stretch pants and tank top) and people noticed "Le Bump."

I kinda felt embarrased telling them I was only 9+ weeks but who cares?

The tighter fitting clothes seem to work better for me than the loose moo-moo stuff. I know my A** is expanding b/c I tried to sit in the little play chairs at the Gymboree store (I know, no chastising required) and just a few short weeks ago made it but yest. noooo waaayyy. Why would I use such a strange litmus test to gauge my ever-expanding body??? Can't say. But I do feel compelled to test clothes, objects to see just how large things are getting.

DD - meant to tell you that your bebe belly is so cute. I also love how your bed is always in such a comfy unmade state like I just want to crawl in! Oh and I can't believe you are such an academic powerhouse. Just think of the things your LO is learning already. I can't remember when it happens but at some pt. the Lo's can distinguish between mom's voice and dad's. I remember Olivia actually turning toward Dh when he spoke close to my stomach almost on command.

Indy - step away from the scary internet pics that will not pertain to you! You have increadible monitoring and knowledge. The new stats are so reasurring.

Blen - I am so jealous of your wee bump. I don't get the dating at all. Avoid all fumes. I'm pretty sure the embryo turns to fetus @ 9 wks. When's your EDD? I'm 9.6 wks today - EDD is 4/12/09. About 1 wk after Olivia's b-day. That's 2 diamond babies for us!

NF - How is the weight gain going? Baed on your awesome photo I imagine we look about the same size except you are carrying 2 and many many wks ahead of me. Are you extra special strict on food or naturally thin? Any update on the boys? You are always so good at personals but inquiring minds want to know!

Lindsay - It can be so stressfull to wait around for ultrasounds and bad/good news. I spent the past month holding my breath and waiting to see if our little twin would survive - the sac measured over a week behind at 8 wks. One ray of hope is that anything can happen. Strange, unbelievable things, really........

Mela - how's it going in Mela world? Pg. can feel so fragile and fleeting at times, no? When is you OB appt? Are you guys telling people?

Lili - how are things in post-partum ville? Are you stilll b-fing? Sleep-deprivation? Baby weight?

Snlee - So sorry about the nightime contractions. I remember the braxton hicks turning my stomach into a strange missile looking object. I had so many a day during my 3rd trimester but no cramps. I think it's scary not knowing what or where things are going during pg. There are so many sensations and events that are new. Do you get more if you move around or walk?

TGal - thanks for the delurking support on our vanishing twin.

Pave - hope u and bebe are doing well.

Jackie - how are you managing two feeding schedules, diaper changes, any tips?

Jen - The homestretch is so loonnnng. I remeber feeling so over it around 34 weeks. And with twins I bet you are ready to get some physical peace. Sleeping on your back is like a pre-historic memory?

Welcome and congratulations all new pregnoids!

ETA - Kay I missed you! I forget, when can I get a pre-natal massage? Is it after 1st trimester? Why?

DD - meant to tell you that your bebe belly is so cute. I also love how your bed is always in such a comfy unmade state like I just want to crawl in! Oh and I can''t believe you are such an academic powerhouse. Just think of the things your LO is learning already. I can''t remember when it happens but at some pt. the Lo''s can distinguish between mom''s voice and dad''s. I remember Olivia actually turning toward Dh when he spoke close to my stomach almost on command.
Lisa that is hilarious! Shows how much I care about neatness (cleanliness yes, neatness is not my forte) that I will post pictures repeatedly of my unmade bed! LOL!

DD - I''ve often wondered what it is about me that notices everything in pictures beyond the "main" subject matter?

Like Erica''s yellow walls and perfectly placed books, Blenheim''s wonderful tile-filled bathroom, Jen''s slipcover, Jackie''s hardwood floors, etc...etc.....

I''m a freak.

Thanks for all for the compliments on my cross stitch! I had a lot of fun making it, even though it was very time consuming. lili, the whole cross stitch is 15" x 17" and each letter is 3" x 3". This is the first large cross stitch I've finished. I've started many! I think I have a short attention span, which is why I loved doing this ABC one. Each letter was like a new small cross stitch!

lucy, congrats and welcome!

dreamer, I can't remember exactly how my belly felt in the 1st trimester (somehow seems so long ago!). But through most of my pregnancy my belly feels very hard and sometimes tight. I think you get used to it just like you (sort of?) get used to having a big belly in front of you!

Lindsey, I'm sorry to hear about your first worrisome u/s. Try to stay positive. I think the fact that you're having m/s is a good sign. My fingers are crossed for you. I hope this week goes by fast. Hugs.

Indy, that's great news! I'm crossing my fingers for a good u/s next week so the risk is cut in half! Woohoo!

mela, your post made my laugh! You are so silly!

Kay, I would love to get my hands on a free copy of "Laugh & Learn about Childbirth." Lucky you. Have you watched "The Happiest Baby on the Block?" I was able to check out a coy at the library and I bought the books as well. I highly recommend it. I am hoping the 5 S's calm my baby down.

Lisa, yay for 2 diamond babies! I added your EDD on the Preggos In Waiting List. Hope you don't mind. I haven't really walked around/moved much recently so I don't know if it makes the contractions worse. Even after I'm done with bed rest, not sure how much I want to walk around, as I'm feeling some pretty uncomfortable pressure down there. I wonder if the baby has dropped a little? Or maybe it's just my body getting ready for labor.

Snlee - thanks for adding our EDD to the list! Don''t worry too much if baby boy Snlee has dropped - I walked around for 2 weeks w/ Olivia at 1+ to 0 station & dilated 1-2 cm!

Lisa, your avatar kills me every time. Olivia is too cute! GAH!!!

So, I''m huge. Ridiculous. At least for 16 weeks. And there was no putting off maternity wear shopping any longer. I had bought a few things at Old Navy, but I don''t fit into any of my tops anymore and yesterday caught site of myself in the mirror looking positively lewd in a too-tight top. So I had to do something. Shopping spree at the motherhood maternity outlet store! I got 5 tops, a pair of cords and a dress for $115. I also bought a beautiful gray cashmere wrap sweater that will extend with my belly from Saks. That''s totally rewearable so I felt good about that.

Anyway, here''s the belly shot.
