lindsey How do you know the gender already?? Was it the 12 week u/s?

Dachshie, found out on Tuesday at 14 weeks at my appointment with the fetal maternal specialist. They do two loooong ultrasounds, doing different types of views and ultrasounds. They even did 3D, which I think they shouldn''t do until later, because the baby totally looks like a little alien at this point
2.gif
I asked the technician if she could tell what we''re having, and she said "I think it''s a girl because of X, Y, and Z." The the specialist did his US afterward, and as he was finished up he asked "did the tech tell you what you''re having?" I told him "yes she thinks that we''re having a girl" and he said "well, I''m SURE you''re having a girl." So we shall see! I have another US at 16 weeks, another at 18, then every week after that. So plenty of time to confirm.

But I wanted to share the best news that I got -- my original OB made a mistake with my bloodwork. My new OB has run my blood twice, and both time they come up with the following numbers -- antiD 1:16, antiC 1:1. Which is fantastic, because my other OB gave me the results of antiD 1:128 and antiC 1:32. I honestly didn''t believe them at first when they told me! But they''ve run two separate drawings twice now, and got the same new lower numbers. 1:16 is the critical titer for antiD, so I will still have weekly ultrasounds after 18 weeks, but 1:16 is much better than being 1:128! So the best news was that my titers are lower than originally stated, and the baby is still perfectly healthy so far. They did this crazy ultrasound that made the baby''s brain light up in shades of red and orange, to look at the blood flow. The specialist said that everything looks great. I am so exhausted with worry all of the time, this was a huge relief.

Lindsey, that''s fantastic news! I''m so glad to hear that it''s not as bad as they originally thought!

Lindsey that is really great news!

We need some around here these days, that's for sure. I have another question, I hope it isn't too strange to ask: If they need to transfuse your baby, do they do it through the cord or right into the little girl's body? I don't know why I wonder about this, call me wierd. It is just so amazing to me that they are able to do such things these days. Obviously modern medicine can't do everything, but I am often amazed at the things it can do!

ETA Robbie Hor far along are you now? If I am recalling right you are now way past the point where you had your early m/c last time... are you feeling more relaxed now that that milestone is passed?

DD, I''m 5w5d now and I miscarried last time at 4w5d. Everything seems to be progressing as it should and I definitely feel better, but I''m hoping to feel even better in a few hours after my first appointment. I know it''s super early, but I''m really hoping that we''ll see a heartbeat. I know not to be worried if we don''t, but it would make me feel better if it''s there. I''m also really excited to find out if my July 4th due date is right or if it''s really end of June. Depending on which setting I used on FF, I either ovulated on cd19 or cd14. Not a huge difference, but still.

Lindsey - It''s fantastic that they can tell that early! I''m sure it your next US, you will be even more certain it''s a girl. Congrats are in order!

Robbie - That is great that you''re feeling good and positive. That would be amazing if you could hear the heartbeat this early and I hope you do. If not, maybe you can do what I''m doing. I''m renting a heartbeat doppler from online and should be receiving it tomorrow. I hate waiting 4 weeks to hear the heartbeat!

I''m 15 weeks today and feeling pretty good, but still SO tired. When am I supposed to get these so-called bursts of energy?

And this may be TMI, but I thought I was lucky up until now with regards to the constipation deal. It''s starting and boy does it "stink". ha. I need to be drinking more water. I know that''s a huge reason. I think I''m consuming plenty of fiber, but it won''t hurt to throw in a little more.

I''m also breaking out a lot more recently. Any idea if I can use Proactiv? I can''t recall that main ingredient in acne meds we''re supposed to avoid.

Robbie,

I''m hoping your appt. goes wonderfully!

Is your DH going, too?

Can''t wait for the update!!

Courtney, I think I still have a while before we''ll be able to hear it so I''m going to hold off on getting one until after the first tri. I figure, that''s when we''ll definitely be able to hear it and plus, one of my SILs might have one that they want to give/lend me when we tell them we''re expecting :)

Fisher, DH is going too. Time to brush my teeth and head out! I''m so excited!

hey ladies! I finally had my first appt yesterday. Pretty uneventful, just lots of blood taken! The good news though is they are going to do an u/s on Monday!!! so excited! They want to do it for dating since I charted and show I ovulate a little later (CD18). But as of now, my due date is June 18th! Our one year wedding anniversary is June 14th, so it'll be neat to have the baby so close to our anniversary. I'm just about 8 weeks now, and other than being sooooooooooooooooooooooooo freakin tired, I'm feeling ok. No more nausea. I ended up having a pretty bad UTI, so I don't know if that's what was making me feel so yucky because since I've been on the antibiotic I haven't been nauseous anymore.

Lindsey - congrats on the girl!!! I'm so hoping we have a girl (of course my DH wants a boy)....I can't wait to be able to find out the sex!!!

Robbie - Good luck w/ your appt today!!!

Let us know how it goes Robbie!!

We heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks, I believe. Get that doppler from your friends! I would use it everyday!

Oh, I''m so excited for you two! I''m glad he''s going too. I hear it''s a magical moment that very first time you see what is your baby.

I hope you get LOTS of reassuring news, Robbie!!

CDT,

Yay for getting an u/s on Monday! That''s wonderful!

Courtney, just so you know, it''s often difficult to hear HB''s with the at home doppler until you are later on (some women say after 20 weeks) from what I have heard. So don''t freak out if you can''t find it immediately yourself.

NF - That''s horrible news! The times I''ve gone to my appointments, they''ve found it right away. I renting a top of the line one, so I sure hope it works for me.

Robbie,
I can''t wait to hear all about your first appointment!!

They used to do transfusions through the baby''s abdomen which was really dangerous. Now they transfuse the blood right into the umbilical cord -- much safer for baby!

Robbie, good luck at your appointment! I'll be thinking of you.

cdt, I was like you too... husband was secretly hoping for a boy... while I was secretly hoping for a girl
2.gif

We aren''t "secretly" hoping for a boy/girl. We are very open about it! I have a good feeling that it''s a girl and DH thinks it''s a boy. Our conversations go like this:

DH: So, how''s my boy doin today?
Me: She''s doing great.
DH: That''s good. I''m glad he''s well.
Me: Yeah, she''s fantastic.

Of course we''re happy either way!

I''ve heard that some people have no problems and for other people they freak out because they can''t find it on their own. So I just wanted to warn you to prevent the freak out if you can''t find it always!

What NF says is true. BUT, I had one when preggo with DD and had no trouble hearing her heartbeat at 12 weeks. During the first few weeks it is very hard to find and may take some time.

I''m 15 weeks today, so I''m confident I will hear it. But if I don''t, I won''t freak out (too much). I have my appointment next Friday as it is.

Wow haven''t checked in for a while and of course lots going on...
Indy-i won''t repeat what everyone has said because you know I think the world of you so hugs and prayers and please keep in touch here.

I will continue from latest convo...where do you all get these doppler machines? I called babies r us and they have one type that only works in3rd trimester and that''s no help.
Hope everyone is well.

NY what I said to Courtney goes double for twins. It''s even harder to distinguish twin HB''s even with the best dopplers. Just so you are prepared going into it if you decide to get one and then can only find 1 HB!

Thanks courtney! Will def check it out. Anxxious about wed''s NT scan but hanging in there.
