Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks for the Old Navy tip, Robbie. I was heading out today anyway and stopped in. There were slim pickin''s left, but I did get a pair of those adjustable-waist capris for .99! Of course I told my sister and she pointed out I won''t even get to wear them in Maine. But, we are going on vacation in January and March where it is warm!

Thanks ladies! Still no contractions although I''ve been doing my best. About to eat some really spicy Indian leftovers in the hopes that it''ll do the trick the second time around...

Tacori I really hate people who judge you on your choices with your pregnancy. A few people have given me the "look" when I tell them I am having a scheduled c-section, and I just want to be like "You have no idea how different a twin pregnancy is!". It''s not like I am choosing this for vanity sake, all my doctors tell me it''s safer for my babies, who WOULDN''T want to take the safer route for their babies???

I agree neat- ppl just don''t know much about the whole twin thing..I find myself explaining the whole earlier delivery and scheduled c as well...what can u do?

I was excited 2day...my facial/eyebrow wax lady actually asked "are u pregnant"...I was very happy finally someone noticed and wasn''t afraid to ask lol..so I guess it means I am showing :)

NF, I totally agree! I even told her how there was lots of meconium (sp?) in my water and she would have gotten VERY sick if she stayed in me much longer. She argued it was caused by my baby''s distress from being induced!
20.gif
Whatever. All they did was soften my cervix
38.gif
This same girl is trying to convince our preggo friend (with #2) to go natural. I am not knocking natural birth but my friend (like myself) has no desire to experience that. This annoying girl will not let it go. I hate people sometimes.

Agreed. I fully respect other people's choices with their bodies and their children...but as soon as they try to tell me what to do with my body and my children it is GAME OVER. I love hearing other people's experiences and opinions, but I just can't stand it when people try to tell me that the decisions I've made aren't the right ones.

Hang in there Neatfreak! I can't wait to see pictures of those beautiful babies. At least it sounds like you have some great baked goods! I understand the instant judgement that comes from telling people that you're having a planned c-section. Due to my rh issues I'm being induced at 37 weeks, and because of pelvic reconstruction (surgery to remove tumor on my pelvic bone, bone cancer) I will be having a c-section. It annoys me when people immediately launch into the epidemic of c-sections and "scheduling" births. I know!! I could just scream. Yeah, yeah, yeah I went into this thinking it would be all midwives and hypnobirthing, but guess what, for me it won't be. And I had a hard enough time dealing with all of these unexpected issues without people chastising me for thinking I'm just scheduling my kiddo's birthday.

I can't believe that Christmas is next week. Months ago I remember thinking "I'll be 21 weeks at Christmas" and that seemed so far away. Tomorrow I will be 20 weeks! Baby girl is still doing well, I have another scan this week to check her blood flow to make sure that she is not becoming anemic. The hubby and I finally bought our first clothes for baby -- so much fun. My parents surprised us by telling us that they'd like to buy us her crib for Christmas which is so nice of them. So I'm really excited now that we're to the point of starting to pick things out and get things ready. Anyone else's pregnancy flying by? It's hard to believe.

NF, sorry you''re still waiting!

I totally hear you on people saying things.

I''ve had comments about:

- having kids at all since I''m bipolar II and FIL has severe bipolar I (ie with psychotic episodes) so our kids have a very high likelyhood of having a predisposition as well. So shouldn''t we adopt instead?

Er well actually because I''m bipolar it would be almost impossible for us to adopt and anyway all you get then is other people''s unknown genetic problems. At least DH and I are aware and know how to teach coping techniques early.

- that with all my previous spinal surgery I should definitely have a c-section.

Actually if you have spinal problems, the worst thing you can do is to mess about with your abdominal muscles. C-section only if medically necessary.

- that I shouldn''t get pg unless I could come off all my pain meds. (This from a girl who thought a glass or two of wine a night was fine when pregnant).

Yes, I feel bad too, but all the medical advice I''ve had is that it is not an issue that should stop me from having a family.

I haven''t hit the natural birth brigade yet, and luckily as I see the hospital midwife team rather than the normal ones, they are very supportive of my ''I intend to have an epidural with 10 times the amount everyone else gets and if I end up with just gas and air then that will be a nice suprise'' proposal.

I suppose I might say something though if I heard someone was planning a home birth with twins at 38 as a first birth...

Otherwise, ticking along here - still can''t feel anything, still got m/s though seems a bit better than it has been. Anomaly scans are booked for Jan 6th, should find out the gender then. If it doesn''t behave at the first one, then I have another scheduled two hours later with the neonatal cardio unit and I might see if they''ll have a peek for me.

I''m more and more convinced that it''s a boy...

I''m also planning to buy a cot in two days time - NF, I went and had another look at the Arms Reach co-sleepers and loved the mini ones. Unfortunately they don''t stock them in the UK and I couldn''t find a US supplier that would ship one. However, someone is selling one on the UK ebay in exactly the colour that I would have chosen and in perfect condition, so I am going to attempt to win it.

I did have an ''awww'' moment this weekend...

DH went to a party on Saturday evening, came home and told me that there had been a baby there. I asked how old it was. Oh less than a year I think, he says, I mean it couldn''t hold it''s head up or anything...
20.gif

Then he proudly tells me that he asked if he could hold it and asked lots of questions.
23.gif

My husband is the sort that sees a baby and retreats to the other side of the room. What has happened??? Where is my real husband???

Pandora, 18 weeks tomorrow.

Wow pandora 18 weeks already! Your DH sounds really cute! He got hit by the baby bug
2.gif

NF-Glad to see you hanging in there. My mom carried my brother to full term. She said she tried everything. What finally did it was mopping. Go figure!

Robbie-When are you telling your parents again? That is going to be so exciting
face23.gif

Nothing new here. I was having some cramping over the weekend or more like a sharp pain that would come and go...mainly when I slept a certain way or stretched. I tried not to freak out about it since my appointment is on the 22nd. I was poking around and felt a little hardness in my lower abdomen. I showed FI which of course was a mistake since all he wanted to do all weekend was poke around and feel some more. Big girl & poking around in my stomach...not my idea of sexiness
27.gif
LOL

Oh yeah I forgot, 10w2d!

Pandora, I just watched a great show on TLC last night "Paralyzed and Pregnant". It was a wonderful way of showing that people want babies regardless of their situation and they are determined to find ways to do so. It was a touching show.

I felt more than flutters last night!! It was a definite sharp movement to where it made me jump! I can''t wait to feel it again!

My 20 week scan went well on Friday and I could count her little fingers and toes. Her profile looks so gorgeous and I can''t wait until 28 weeks so we can get the 4D ultrasound.

Fiery, sounds like the lovely beginning of round ligament pains. They are not fun and unfortunately sometimes just get more painful as you go...sorry girl.

Yes I agree time is flying by for us ladies here! I guess we are pg at a nice time ..with all the holidays and it keeps us busy..for me its great with bff''s wedding comin up jan11..I have so much planning and it keeps me very occupied to say the least :) ...I will be 21wks at her wedding...
(Btw...I am having a burgundy dress made..anyone know what color shoes go with that and what kind of shoes I should wear at 21 wks?)

<---17 wks today

Pandora, holy cow! I can''t believe you''re so far along already! Then again, I can''t believe how far along I am either. Time seems to be flying though it definitely felt like it was dragging at first.

Fiery, we''re telling DH''s family on Christmas Eve and we''ll tell my family when we go over for Hanukkah. I''ve asked me mom at least 3 times when she wants us to come over, but no answer yet. The first night is this Sunday. I''m pretty sure she said they''re going to synagogue that night so sometime we''ll tell them sometime between the 22nd and the 24th! I''m jealous that you can feel your uterus already! I keep trying to find mine, but nothing yet. I agree that it sounds like rlp. I''ve actually been having them for a while, mostly when I sneeze or roll over in bed.

Courtney, I can''t wait to feel flutters! Congrats on the good scan!

NYC, I think silver shoes would looke nice. I''d go for ballet flats

.

I broke out the first pair of maternity dress pants today (ok, they''re the only pair I have so far). I went to put on a pair of regular dress pants and there was no way that clasp was closing without some sucking in. I figured since the bloat only gets worse throughout the day there was no point in even attempting to wear them. They''re a pair from ON with the 3-inch elastic band that I bought on ebay. After I put on the pants I realized that I needed a longer than normal shirt to cover the maternity waistband so I broke out a maternity cami too. I feel like I''m wearing pj''s today, they''re so comfy!

I was supposed to be going on a business trip on Wednesday and Thursday which would require 2 suites, but it''s being rescheduled to mid January. Thank goodness because I tried on my suits last night and only one was able to be zipped. The others weren''t even close. I was going to use a bella band, but it wasn''t very professional looking. I''m guessing that the one that was able to zip won''t be able to in another month, but at least I have time to find something else now.

Robbie--I realized during my corp party that my favorite pair of jeans no longer fit. I was on the dance floor with my pants unzipped and unbottoned! Thankgfully I wore a long shirt LOL.

Neat-Is that what it is?! I really need to get better with reading my books. I just read about the baby''s development and completely forget to read about my own!

Robbie I can''t believe that I''m nearly halfway there at all. The fact that I still don''t feel anything is helping me pretend that I''m not really going to have to be responsible for a small person in a few months.

I bought a baby book and discovered how often they eat - and poop! Good grief... I keep pythons that eat and poop once every 8-12 weeks or so.

I''m also a little confused - it says that they pretty much pee or poop with every feed - and yet the whole idea of co-sleeper cots etc is that you don''t have to get up so much at night. So... does that mean they don''t poop at night, or that you don''t change their nappy every time?

You wouldn''t guess that I''m the eldest of 4 would you? DH is also one of 4, so the grannies can both fight over parenting techniques.
28.gif

Actually they are both great and have said that they won''t give any advice unless it''s asked for and that how DH and I bring our kids up is totally up to us - so I am supremely blessed!

Robbie, do you have a company in the US called Formes? I have a load of suit trousers from them (ebay again) and they are so nice. The top part is in jersey and folds back over so it looks like the bottom of a top. I wear a maternity poloneck on the top and then a suit jacket in black. They are Parisian and beautifully cut. They are also so incredibly comfortable.

I haven''t found any skirts that I like so far though - dresses seem to hang better.

You should find the bloat goes in a couple of weeks and then you will suddenly pop. You''re about 12 weeks IIRC?

At 12 weeks, the top of my uterus was not really feelable at all. Now it''s over the top of my navel and I can feel a hard ridge. DH keeps wanting a feel to see if he can feel anything moving - no luck so far. He doesn''t believe me when I tell him that later on you can see it and make out feet etc - he thinks I''m teasing.

nycbk, what other colours is the bride using? Black or gold would also look nice with burgundy.

Great news on the scan Courtney, and I''m very jealous that you can feel everything. I thought I might feel things early as the placenta is right at the back, but seems not...

Pandora, I just started feeling flutters about a week and half ago. Last night I felt actual movement...like kicking for the first time. I''ll be 21 weeks this Thursday, so just give yourself a couple more week and I bet you''ll feel him/her.

No...unfortunately it means that you change them right there, sometimes before and after a feeding. Moms I know that use cosleepers have a mini-changing station right there with diapers, wipes, and their diaper pail or plastic bags to tie off the diapers. But if they are breastfeeding they don''t really smell.

Ah ha, all is explained...

I love how you guys all have ''diapers'' - it''s a word you never hear at all in the UK.

We have nappies, nappy-sacks, nappy bins and if you are using real cloth nappies - nappy pins!

Thanks for the shoe tips ladies..I was thinking about gold/cream/beige...I like black but I don''t think it goes with burgundy..looks better with red. But I don''t know if a flat will be better or maybe a small wedge for support..I can''t find nice shoes anywhere.

Sucks about all the maternity clothes issues..im lucky all my velour suits (I have them i n every color and style lol) still fit bc they stretch..but im close to having to start buying the maternity stuff soon.

Hi Everyone. Hope you all are well. It sounds like things are good! Hooray! I am officially done work now so I am enjoying my morning and writing some thank you notes for baby gifts. My former co-workers threw me a beautiful shower yesterday. It was fun and as usual ppl were so generous. I now have 5 baby bags- yikes! I do love bags though so maybe I should just keep them all.

Neatfreak Im officiallly 37 weeks today! We are almost finished! You for sure have an end in sight. the 19th is soooooo very close. Are you feeling well? Trying to rest? Is the sleeping really hard? I was having trouble last week but this week seems much better. Now that you have a date- are you gonna get some baby''s first christmas stuff? I have wanted to do that but am trying to hold off because technically next christmas will probably be my baby''s first- but now for you it will be this christmas. what fun! Do you guys decorate and everything for the holidays? For some reason I like the first christmas ornaments. I am not a colllector of things but they are so cute I think.
I met with my doula last night. She is preparing me that it could still be weeks but last week I was thinking oh it could be any day. I know it will be better to wait till he gains more weight. She was very reassuring in general and is a calming, warm person. I am looking forward to working with her during labor.
I will be anxiously awaiting your updates and look forward to pictures! Oh by the way congratulations on your ps gift and 10000 posts- did I get the number right? that is so cool and you are so helpful to so many on pricescope. Can''t wait to see your gift.

Pandora hopefully it wont be too long before you are feeling your little baby frequently. I like the idea of the cosleeper- I am using a hand me down bassinet but if I had to buy something that would probably have been it. I didn''t even think about something else to change the baby on at night in our room. hopefully I will just have stuff nearby and use the bassinet. Maybe your m/s will just continue to improve until it''s gone altogether! that would be fantastic.

nycb what about some strapy gold or silver shoes? oh yeah- don''t want high heels. Yeah I did not enjoy getting dressed up for a wedding recently- hard to find shoes to feel "sexy" in. they do sell gold and silver flats but they don''t really have the same feeling as a strappy high heel. Sorry I guess I am no help. Good luck with the shoe search!

Wow pave- sooo exciting to be in the very last stages..I can just imagine how real it feels...I mean baby will be here anyday! I can''t wait for pics and lots of them :) hangin there mama and try baking..seems to work for some ;)
Thanks for shoe tips..u r so right that heels feel much sexier ..im used to platform shoes (hooker style lol)bc im sooo short...but yeh flats will have to do...im sure everyone will understand ;)

I just got some GREAT news!

My FIL is remarried to a woman who has 3 kids, the eldest of whom has just announced that she is pg and due in June. Bit of a shock as most of us didn''t even know that she had a boyfriend...

We live about 4 hours drive from them, she''s about 30 minutes and tends to go home all the time.

There were set to be MEGA rows about grandparental rights and how often they got to see our kid. DH and I are not very into family - we like them, but seeing them 2/3 times a year is great and we don''t plan on increasing that.

We''re now off the hook. FIL gets another baby to play with every weekend instead. Hooray!

Hi everyone,
You all have been great with sending your thoughts and prayers my way, so if you could just keep me (and possible baby) in your prayers today and send dust for my appt. this afternoon, I would really appreciate it. I''m so nervous, I don''t know how I''m going to make it till 1:45!

Best wishes Sabine!

Prayers to you and your hubby and that little baby, Sabine!!
