Yay and I will be 24 wks in 1 day...so is 24wks really a viable stage ??

24 weeks is technically the 'viable' date but every doctor will say that 28 weeks is really the more 'viable' date.

I think after 24 weeks the baby has a chance of survival....but I'm not sure about twins. They *may* follow different rules. NEAT?

My aunt gave birth to her twin boys (I cant remember what week...somewhere between 24 - 28) and they survived. barely. They were 1.5 lbs and 2lbs.

At 24 they have a very small chance of survival and a large chance of permanent disabilities. But it is generally considered the point at which they have a chance at surviving and thus if they are born at 24 wks they will try to save them. Before that and many hospitals won't do anything as a policy.

Ok that''s what I figured...so next goal we want to reach is 28 wks!

YUP! I''m always looking at my next goal.

these are my ''goals'':

12 wk - scan (heartbeat)
20 wk - halfway through pregnancy
24 wk - viability
28 wk - *real* viability
36 wk - Midwife will deliver (before this, I''d be turned over to the OB team)

what other ''benchmarks'' have you girls used?

32 weeks is an important one too as far as risk of long term disabilities

Neat- I''ve tried doin it at like 11...but then when I got to bathroom at around 5am or so..I still see leakage...don''t get it
Well it isnt like there is anywhere for it to go in there!
3.gif
I suspect a little leakage is normal and as long as you are horzontal for a good number of hours it will be absorbed. I bet you can ask the pharmacist about how long it needs to be inside to get the absorbtion.
yeh i guess what goes up and in must come down and out LOL! ..im sure most of it is absorbed.

30 weeks - nice round number.

34 weeks - I think this is when they stop trying to stop PTL.

37 weeks - term

Plus all of the other ones mentioned. Right now, I like having short term benchmarks that seem more easily reachable. Even if that means spacing them out every week or two.

Hey ladies, I hope you''re all well today. Congrats on all the milestones!

DD - I can''t believe you''re full term!! That''s wild! Congratulations! I hope you have a great shower! How did your Group B Staph test go? I''m positive which is a bummer but I''m still planning on not taking any pain meds even though I''ll be in hospital with an IV.

Fiery - that''s great about your company putting in a Mom''s room!

Mela - congrats on viability!

Courtney - yay for 3rd tri! I think the name Alila is beautiful

NF - your babies are precious! Thanks so much for sharing those pics!

Pandora - I''m so sorry you''re dealing with that awful work stuff still and that it looks like you''ll have to do so for a while longer. I wish they could just treat you with the respect you deserve... We''ll be sending you good vibrations on the 4th!

Blen - your sling looks great! sorry about the stretch marks on your boobs... that''s no fun.

Sorry for not giving everyone else an individual shout out - I''m kinda unfocused right now but each of you are in my thoughts.

DH and I just got back from checking out the kindercare near us. It seemed like a nice place and a viable option for when I go back to work but I still hate the idea of us having to leave her with anyone... too bad we''re not crazy wealthy. The facility way nice but I''d rather find some sort of in home option where one or two people are caring for the infants in a home setting instead of an institutionalize day care. We checkout out one option like that run by a nurse from the UK with lots of experience but it''s not very convenient for us in terms of location... It''s been hard to identify day care options like that since we''d rather pick one by referral but most of the people we know are able to have one parent stay home or they have a nanny come to their home so they aren''t able to make any recommendations. We live in a relatively small two bedroom apt and DH works from home most of the time so we can''t really have someone care for her in our home. He''s hoping that he will be able to watch her one day a week while working from home and just schedule no meetings / conference calls that day and he wants for me to try to work from home one day a week as well so that she only needs to be in day care 3 days a week. But with the economy so bad and concerns about job stability, it''s hard to know what our work situations will be 5 months from now... I get 3 months off but my firm is kind of in flux so who knows what my position will look like when I return... I know I just need to have faith that everything will work out. I''m grateful to be expecting a baby and to have a job at all right now and I just need to focus on those blessings. sorry for rambling on about all this....

On another note, we found our pediatrician this week! We only interviewed one but she was referred to us by my OB as well as a friend of mine who has two small kids so I feel confidant in the decision. She seemed very nice and I''m glad to have that done.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs
33 weeks today!

Mrs- I know how hard finding daycare is...it is so expensive too! Im worried even more...bc I have 2 coming lol!..my sis pays $800 a month for my niece ..she started at 3...I just don''t know what to do with that but I still have time. Good luck mama!

Neat- we are still waiting to see the bling!

Hey everyone! Things have been crazy busy with work (business trip last week and tons of work this week), starting my photography class and getting our house ready for a party we''re having tomorrow. I''ve been scanning through the thread when I had a free minute (not often
8.gif
), but haven''t had time to really read through everything or post. I was going to try tonight, but I''m getting pretty tired and I still have dishes to do and a kitchen to clean so I''ll have to get caught up tomorrow night or Sunday before the Superbowl (go Steelers!!!).

Dreamer, I caught that your due has been moved up. Holy cow! That''s crazy to lose a week this far in the game!

Courtney, Lila is such a pretty name! It''s still on my list. I think we''ve decided to just have lists of our top names and decide for good once the baby is born and we can see him/her.

Our big u/s is tomorrow and we''re still holding strong about not finding out the sex. Well, DH is at least. I''ve been wavering in the last few days, but he seems pretty set on it being a surprise so I think that''s how we''ll do it. I ended up signing up for Bradley Method classes and we''ll be traveling 40 minutes away once a week for 12 weeks starting next Sunday. I can''t believe we''re starting classes already! I''ve been reading "Natural Birth the Bradley Way" or something like that and it''s made me really excited for the classes and much calmer about labor in general. I''m still feeling pretty good, just some really sore boobies (I''m up to a G cup now
23.gif
), some swelling of the legs and feet
39.gif
and some achy nether regions (do they make support undies? lol). I''ve been feeling definite movements for a bit over a week now and I''m almost certain that those first flutter/twitch things I felt at 12 and 14 weeks were the start of it. I promise to post an updated belly pic as well as some u/s shots when I get a chance. I''ve missed you all!

17w6d

Robbie- we missed ya lady! Glad to know all is well tho...but I can''t believe u are almost 18wks! Goodness time is flying once u think about it but it doesn''t seem that way. Good luck on the scan...very exciting..and we want detail and pics asap! :)

Here are the 4D pics!! Here''s are favorite because it''s such a clear picture and she looks so peaceful! She''s using the placenta as a pillow.

IMAGES_13.JPG

Daddy was talking to her here and she smiled! She has my dimples!

IMAGES_14.JPG

Here''s another pretty front one

IMAGES_23.JPG

And here she is yawning

IMAGES_30.JPG

Court- OMG I am soooo excited for u..bc I would be on cloud 9 with those pics! She is gorgeous! The smiling and yawning ones are the best....it seems so peaceful in there lol.
I wanna do those at 30 wks (hopefully all goes well til then)...I can''t wait.
Congrats mama! Beautiful baby girl!

Courtney - she''s beautiful! I love the new pictures.

Baby keeps flipping to transverse and the pressure of the head in my side is really weird feeling.

We found out that I have an anterior placenta, so I'm kind of surprised that I've felt anything. The tech said that having it in that position doesn't always effect how you feel movement though. One more pic then I need to go (we have guests over, but they're playing Wii with DH). Here's my 18 week belly shot:

ETA: Sorry it's so huge!

01.31.09 - 18 weeks 003-2.jpg

Robbie, cute picture! Just an FYI though - it looks like it has your full name on it, so if you don't want that posted you should probably ask an administrator to remove the picture and then crop the picture down before reposting.

Oops, thanks, Blen! I meant to crop it, but forgot.

Robbie you look terrific, and love the US pic.

Courtney, love the pic of her yawning, how precious!!!

Robbie- cute cute baby and belly!

I came to the conclusion that I have the worst u/s quality pics! Lol..ugh.

Courtney-I love the photos! What a doll!! I had to show FI and he just found them to be so cute, especially the yawning photo.

Robbie-You look great girl!

Awe, Courtney, great pics!

Robbie, I''m amazed at how much bigger you seem in this pic than the one of you last week! It''s crazy!

Dreamer, hope your shower was wonderful (it was today and not tomorrow, right? if not, I hope it is great tomorrow...)

One of my best friends had her shower today. It was jungle themed, and it was soooo cute. If we end up having a boy, I might totally want to steal the jungle theme from her. They were able to get balloons, streamers, and figurines with little baby jungle animals on them, and the favors were animal crackers! She got so much cute stuff!

Speaking of showers, how early do you think is too early for the baby shower? My shower is going to be in Pittsburgh. For those of you who don''t know, dh and I currently live in Hershey but all our family is in Pittsburgh, about a 3.5 hour drive. However, we are moving to Portsmouth, Va, which is a 7.5 hour drive. We just found out that dh will need to be in Portsmouth starting June 8th (I''m due Aug. 5th). We thought it would be about 2 weeks later, and I was planning on having my shower in early June and driving from Hershey to Pitts. for it with no problem. But if it''s after we move, I won''t be able to drive 7.5 hours by myself, and dh won''t be able to drive me since he will be working insane hours. I don''t know if flying would be a possibility. Would it be weird to have my shower in late May?

13w 3d (officially second tri to some!)

Sabine - we had an out of town shower at 20.5 weeks (really early!) because that''s what worked out best with traveling, so I don''t think late May is too weird at all. Given that you''re moving, people would probably understand that it''s much easier on you logistically. Congrats on the second tri!

DD, I can''t believe you''re full term already!

Courtney, your baby is adorable!

Ok, admin was nice enough to take down my post that had my u/s pic which I forgot to blur my name out of, so here it is again. I can''t remember what else I said in that post though
8.gif
.

The u/s tech said that everything with the baby and my placenta and cervix looked great. Baby was measuring 18w4d, but the legs were measuring 19 weeks. This baby is totally taking after DH. I''m 5''5" and I''m pretty sure my sister is only 4''11. DH is 6''1". I think the baby looks like DH in profile too.

We apparently have the calmest/laziest baby on the planet. It did not want to be bothered to move off of its stomach so the tech could get a better look at its heart. Even when the tech was poking and shaking my belly, which was making me uncomfortable enough to want to move, the baby didn''t really care. She was eventually able to get the shot, but baby quickly turned back over when she was done. No waving. No thumb sucking. It did touch its face a little and it seemed to purse its lips, but that''s about it. I hope it''s this calm after it''s born!

I''m starting to feel like I''m getting huge. DH had his work friends over last night and the wife of one is due a day before me. She was still wearing pre-preg jeans and really not showing at all.

Robbie and Courtney,

What precious babies!
9.gif

Robbie, you''re looking wonderful, mommy!!

Robbie: I think you look great. We all grow differently and that''s what I keep telling myself. I was rubberbanding my pre-pregnancy jeans when I was already like 10 weeks. I just weighed myself this morning and I see that I''ve gained about 25 lbs already and I still have 3 months to go!

Thanks for the comments on the US pics. I can''t stop looking at them. The more I study them, she is definitely taking after Daddy!

Robbie - ditto to what Courtney said. You really do look great, and people just tend to pop at different stages. I think I looked pretty similar to you at 18 weeks.

Courtney and Robbie Great looking pictures!

RobbieYou look like you are carrying like Blenheim. Be glad! It means you get to enjoy being "publicly pregnant" for so long... I have only enjoyed this experience for about the last 8 weeks and will be sorry to see it go.

Courtney Don''t worry about the weight gain... everyone''s body is so different and gains what it wants! You may slow down as this trimester progresses, most women do. I think at 28 weeks I was around 30lbs? I would hazard that all the weight since then is water weight for me. I am not getting on the scale anymore, that is my plan. I asked the m/w about it last time and she said ok.
